I love this place. Some of my fondest memories were when me and my older sister were little, we would walk there together and buy day old donuts for even cheaper. The donuts are amazing, the prices are great, the staff is always nice.

I’ve been going to Carol Lee’s since 1970, and they opened in 1968, fifty years ago. Part of my childhood memories of Blacksburg involve watching the town walk by, from the stool at the plate glass window on college avenue. They make the best Bavarian Creme donuts I’ve had on this continent, or any other.

Average donut shop. donuts are small in size and wont come close to filling up the size box they use. Tasted like they were make yesterday. Saw the male employee touch a donut with his bare thumb while packing a in store customer order. Wonder what touched my 3 doz order that I called in. March 29, 2021 about 10 am

The donuts are on the smaller side of things but are fantastic. Route 8 donuts are the only better ones in the area.

This place is heaven for all the donut lovers! Lots of flavors of donuts and fillings. The donuts do have yeast, soy in them which makes them super soft. Sells out in the afternoon almost everyday. Good place to get one for the road or for a party !

Loved it. Reminded me of a time, some thirty years ago, of downtown Blacksburg. That same smell, only on college ave. Things were different then.

When your hunting a great donut attitude and appearance are part of the selling point... The young lady that served me seemed to be exhausted and her hair was disheveled like she just rolled out of bed.I got a dozen stuffed donuts they dont have a lot of variety I had one so far it didnt taste freshly made, its good and not over glazed like your local grocery stores are but it tasted like it was a freezer donut that you baked, Ill go back again sometime early in the morning to see if they are any better...

Loved the old downtown location! Grew up with my face pressed against the window watching the machines mixing the dough. Wish the parking at the current location were better. But quality has never suffered. We visit every time we are in town.

The flavor of all their donuts is great. The only issue I have with Carol Lee’s is that the filled donuts are all especially tiny; about the size of a large donut hole. To compound the issue sometimes those tiny donuts have very little filling.

I stopped here today to get a dozen mixed donuts, cost around $8.75. I was too late in the day for cinnamon twists. But still good solid selection of classics. Nice display cases, clean area. Quick service too. I was not disappointed!

Great, fast service. Solid selection of donuts with beautiful texture and non-artificial flavour. Also offers view into the donut making process in the back which is very interesting and staff is more than happy to answer any questions.

If youre thinking about picking up a dozen donuts in the Bburg/Cburg area...if its not Carol Lee dont waste your time.I am not terribly fond of cake donuts, so Ive only tried their yeast varieties. Bavarian Cream was on lock and their plain glazed might be among the best Ive ever had.Definitely the best donuts in the area for a nice variety of simple, unfussy flavors. Hasnt been ruined by hipsters either and is reasonably priced. Come early, bring cash.

As the best place to get fresh made donuts in the Blacksburg area, Carol Lee is always on my list of places to swing by when in the area. I am a big fan of their cake donuts, particularly the blueberry, but you can never go wrong with the cinnamon sugar donut, either.They are pretty reasonably priced at $5 for a half dozen; theyre cash only but they have an ATM on site if you forget! It is also worth noting that there is no seating, either indoors or outside, at Carol Lee, so be sure to go in prepared to get your donuts to go. You may also have to wait for parking, as there are not that many spots.

The holy grail of donut shops, in my humble opinion. You just cant be in a bad mood if you have a fresh batch of Carol Lee donuts! The employees are great, prices are reasonable, and the donuts are never stale. Delicious every time!

Donuts you want are almost always in stock, and process are reasonable for the quality and effort. Grab bags in the morning are a nice way to recycle what would otherwise be trashed. ATM in store, I dont believe they accept credit cards.

Someone at my old workplace brought this in once. Im typically hard to impress with donuts but once I tried these, I was hooked. Now I stop here whenever Im within 15 miles of it! I bring them back to my office and there is much rejoicing.
