Right next to Prudential Center shopping mall. Nice store wide selection of foodstuffs and alchohol. However there are a few issues with the management of the store that you will notice after frequenting it.

Great supermarket if youre staying in the local area. A busy and popular spot it seems but they can handle it no problem. Staff are always very nice. Great fresh fruit and veg and a large wine and beer selection. Hot food counter seems to be a real draw for the locals too - looks decent. Well run automated checkouts that move fast. Recommended.

This location is not bad. Very convenient to get to by bus, train, or walking. However this is the only location I know that will always have damaged fruit or rotten fruit mixed in with somewhat okay fruit. I have never had much luck with that here and Ive been going here for about half a decade. You can find almost any other product there besides good fruit. An the line build quick but its only because there are so many students in the area. Other than that this location is not bad at all.

So, the 5 stars are for Star in general. I really like the chain and find everything I need there at good prices. The location by the Pru is fine. Its a pretty clumsy layout and the checkout area can get really crowded and feels hectic. Still, for a big grocery store in the center of Boston Its great.

This supermarket is really huge, there are a lot of different aisles and areas to shop.Sometimes is hard to find what you are looking for, but if you ask to a member of the staff they will take you to where it is, they are nice. They have a lot of different sections, the grocery is really big too and they have a lot of cheese types. Theres also Free WiFi but sometimes doesnt work fine, so be patient.Cashiers are usually fast and lanes usually go fast.

I came to purchase a floral arrangement and asked for a ribbon to wrap the flowers so the sleeve stayed in place and looked presentable. The Florist refused to give me a ribbon and told me the 99 cents ribbon was for only balloons. I told her Ive brought flowers here for YEARS and else where and never heard of that. She then tried to tell me I had to but a back of ribbons. I went to customer care and they then said she was wrong and needed to give me a ribbon and that it was string. When I went back the florist gave me a horrible attitude even though I stated I was on my way to a funeral and these just need to be presentable. As a purchased my flowers and said thank you she refused to respond. Horrible I think her name was Aaliyah. I attached the ribbon below. Ridiculous

This is the closest grocery store to me, so because of the convenience I do most of my shopping here. Definitely not the lowest prices by any chance, and I suppose its because of the location. Overall, it is always very clean, with good selection of many different items, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Two points which make it a not-so-ideal shopping experience, however: first, prices. Second, their policy on alcohol sales. If you have an out-of-state drivers license and are younger than 25, you have to show a US passport to buy alcohol. I understand that it is likely a precaution against college students using fake IDs, but it is very inconvenient for me to have to take my passport to purchase alcoholic beverages. Also, my partner is not a US citizen and has an out-of-state drivers license, and Star Market did not accept their green card nor their foreign passport as a form of ID, so there is literally no way for my partner to show ID. Not a very inclusive or accommodating policy.

This star market is overpriced, but very clean with large aisles relatively speaking for a downtown Boston supermarket. To be fair all Boston supermarkets are overpriced with the possible exception of market basket but this ones closer to where I live and open till 11:00 p.m. which is nice. I miss when they were open till midnight, and even more when they were 24 hours but I understand thats not where the world is anymore. Overall not a bad place to do your daily/weekly grocery shopping.

Horrible! Went to the Border street Star market in East Boston, steak tips and steak on sale. Nothing was available. So I opted to buy pork instead. The meat was spoiled even though it was marked fresh with a current date. 5 differant mistakes, they charged me for 3 butters instead of 2 and overcharged on my eggs. My daughter bought american cheese and the label was for mortadella.im sorry but I will never go again. Not even an Im sorry. Let me mention, that we were in a rain storm and I had to drive all the way from home again.

Went to Star Market today and tried to purchase alcohol but was denied when the cashier saw my out of state id. She informed me of a policy where they do not accept out of state ids for people under 25 (I am 21). I would completely respect and understand this if it weren’t for the fact that less than 1 minute before she had sold alcohol to my boyfriend of the same age with the same out of state id. I am confused as to why his 21 year old out of state license was acceptable, but mine was not. If you have a policy such as this that you are going to enforce, it should probably be done regardless of gender.

This guy pretended to put his mask on when a supervisor walked by but immediately took it off to hand the customer their food container. When somebody lowers their mask under their nose they’re breathing only through their nose which means all of their breath and all of the issue comes right out and the mask does nothing. The cashiers often lower their masks as well.

Stock has always been slow to be replaced, and now it can barely be obtained. Wholesalers are way behind.NOTE: This chain has always dropped popular items w/o ANY replacements planned. This store will have 18 rows of the same product w/o any variation on a line. EX: 9 rows across of strawberry preserves, 6 rows of raspberry preserves, but not any cherry, blueberry, or even grape.BUT THEY GOT 2 NAMES THEY USE SIMULTANEOUSLY.Should we meet at Prudential Shaws or Prudential Star?Retail grocery stores are dinosaurs, and meal delivery services are great if you dont need choice or value.MOST IMPORTANTLY: mind the mice. They have a bad rodent problem, and if you drop your bag in here you could easily take one home. Errr!

Star Market in the Pru is (unfortunately) my regular grocery store given where I live in Back Bay and whats convenient for me (I often stop here on the way home from the gym). One of my favorite things to do is grocery shop and unfortunately, this place doesnt make it that fun (I would much rather go to Wegmans, but can only go when I find the time).PRICES: In general, the prices are not great, which is understandable given its location in Back Bay Boston.QUALITY: Nothing special but not bad...good meat and produce selection (which is the majority of what I shop for).MOBILE APP: Despite the higher than average prices, I do appreciate the deals they send me on things that I shop for which helps save me money. I also do enjoy accruing points so I can get rewards that I can apply to future purchases. I will say, sometimes the app is slow to update and I sometimes dont get savings when I put my phone number in at the register and they are not good at dealing with it (and then you have to wait at customer service).SERVICE: Unfortunately, this is the worst part of Star. I have had issues with prices or the mobile app several times and have gone to customer service only for them to groan or roll their eyes like I am doing them a disservice. Not my kind of customer service.SELF CHECK-OUT: This is the worst self-checkout system I have ever dealt with. There are no instructions on where to put your basket and if you put it in the wrong place (which I did), it shuts down and they have to get an employee to start it back up for you. They need it to be clearer and have accurate signs (and this is coming from a millennial).Again, I will be back because its what is convenient but I dont love it.
