The Lexington Coop is a great one stop for food and other household needs. The prices are not cheap but the food is fresh which I do really appreciate very much! One thing I did not like was a cashier asked if I wanted a bag and I replied yes maam. Well, that opened up into her yelling at me for saying maam and saying she was not a girl, she or a maam. I said, look I was only trying to be respectful and she continued yelling at me. Well, to each their own but this should not have happened especially if in this case, I truly ment it out of respect. Other then this issue, I normally enjoy my experience at the coop.
I honestly don’t know what I would do without this place. Quick lunch options and snacks, lots of beer, local food and produce options, walking distance, love it.
My favourite place to shop for food in Buffalo. I love the Elmwood Village area so much which is where the co-op is. They sell so many local products, whether that’s produce, dairy, even tea and coffee. Many of them are labeled with the area that they are produced in. They sell prepared food as well. The staff is always so friendly too. Such a great neighbourhood spot.
Really cute place and good variety of items.
Such a great co-op! You can shop there even if youre not a member, though if you live nearby its definitely worth becoming a member. $80/one time fee and you can get discounts on certain items and other perks. Plus youre supporting a local business! The amount of vegan goodies here is insane! So many vegan fresh baked goods in their fresh bakery section, like cookies, cupcakes, apple crumble to die for, peanut butter cups, and more. Also a ton of vegan options in their prepared foods section. Tempeh sandwiches, wraps, marinated ginger tofu, kimchi poppers, buffalo tofu poppers with vegan Bleu cheese...I could go on.Then in the regular grocery section there are lots of vegan products and they often have great sales. The bulk section is also quite extensive. Unfortunately its closed currently cuz of covid but you can still get bulk prices and goods that come in pre packaged containers.Everyone there is super nice, I love shopping here (and I hate grocery shopping).
This review is for whatever employee found it appropriate to walk outside in the parking lot to my vehicle to verbally harass me after making a purchase...You have absolutely zero authority to make ANY customer uncomfortable. The next time this happens to anyone, especially another young woman alone, don’t hesitate - call someone for help.
Weve started shopping here almost exclusively since the pandemic (trying to avoid larger places). The produce selection is great and they have all of the vegan things I need. The prepared foods are delicious. I also enjoy that almost everything is local where possible or from responsible brands, so I dont even have to think about avoiding buying from evil corporations
I strongly object to this co-op carrying Poland Spring Water or anything from these or any other horrible corporate company . I’ve written letters to point this out and never gotten a response.I also strongly object to the unfriendly attitude about mask wearing when it should be optional at this point. Seems like they are all about totalitarian rule, with not regard for real health. The CDC even admits masks don’t work and are unhealthy. Seeing them on young children at this store is awful. Its over folks. Move on.
Ive been a member of various food coops for 40 years, & this is less a coop than an overpriced health food store. The board & management are ill-informed about the politics of food. They routinely compromise coop principles for the sake of attracting members, & they refuse to participate in boycotts, even against the most egregiously destructive companies like Nestle. As a result, the shelves are loaded with products from large corporations that operate in unprincipled ways, including Nestle, Coca-Cola, & General Foods. Also, the supposed benefits of membership are largely meaningless. Theres little here you cant buy at Wegmans for much less; member discounts & perks are too few & too infrequent; the Board operates with little meaningful member input; & the rules for a member vote on important issues are so restrictive that it never happens.
A bustling friendly place with well schooled gracious staff eager to assist!Vibrant Local and imported Produce,Great Selections: Dairy, Meat,Poultry,Vegan items etc.!Delicious Pies and Bake goods!Wonderful Coffee!!A Great One Stop Colorful shopping experience!I always leave Smiling
Best place for fresh produce. Great selection. Pretty fair prices.
Small, quickly overcrowded, overpriced (even for a small supermarket) and frequently out of things. I’d love for my local shop to actually try to compete a bit more.
I stopped in to shop for the first time on Thursday. Great store! Prepared foods that I picked up were delicious. Produce and meat looked fabulous. Staff was friendly. Would have given 5 stars if prices were a bit more budget friendly. I will be back.
I mostly shop there when I need specialty items or if there is a special occasion since the prices are higher, but the fresh produce is purely exceptional, it is worth the higher price.
You got rid of the olive bread? in a pandemic?
Great bulk selection for a range of nuts, grains, spices, & more at a nice value point. Offers really great quality products (with a focus on local vendors) that can be expensive but is ultimately worth it for the support of the local community & overall economic health of an ethical market. Delicious prepared foods & consistently kind service to all.
When you shop at the Co-op, youre not just supporting one local business, but an entire supply chain of locals. Youre also supporting a committed staff, and getting a cleaner, nicer, less crowded store. Tough to beat!
I pick and choose based on quality and prices when I shop here. I buy items I cannot purchase anywhere else. I am a member. Apples are sometimes cheaper here when in season. Their Kale is wonderful! Their spices are great and you measure them out yourself. Their hot food line is delicious! I often get the salad greens and fixings since they are living and the enzymes of living foods get into your cells and detox body. The hot foods tastes great too. I love Lexis PESTO in small container is dynamic and you spread it over hot noodles with Parmesan cheese and olive oil. Get it all the time. There is a Bulk Section and you can obtain rice, peanut butters, nuts, etc.Lots of customers eat their lunches and dinners from the Hot and Cold Salad Bar and the food is organic and delicious. There is a sitting area outside with tables and chairs that people use. There is also a suggestion box and they are open to new ideas. Open minded people with organic foods is what makes this Co-Op unique.
This is one of the stores that I will miss the most when I leave Buffalo. The prepared food is fresh and of high quality. The kitchen staff is very assistive. Honestly, everyone who works there is very willing to help. There are always yummy free samples to try. While some specialty items may be overpriced, most things (including bulks), are a great value.
I LOVE the co-op! Ive been working here for just about three years and it is by far the best job Ive had! My co-workers are wonderful, the shoppers are involved and invested, and the overall atmosphere is down to earth and super homey! We offer a plethora of organic, local, and equal exchange options while catering to those who prefer conventional. The co-op is a community establishment while 52 cents of every dollar stays local. Shopping at the co-op is an easy and pleasant way to make your money count. Highly recommend! Stop in and say hello!
9.00$ for a sandwich? The bun was a normal hamburger roll. Tip jars at checkout? Whats going on? I thought you all cared about the community. I guess greed just wins. I wont be back. The sandwich was horrible.
Always long lines to check out. Very poor selection. Be prepared to overpay on low quality supposedly higher brands or the basics as in milk and produce. Chances are you wont find what you need but maybe something similar of lesser quality for at least double the price... They suggest you tie your 🐕 to the bike rack while you shop in any form of extreme weather. Leave them unattended and anything goes. This is by far the worst grocer around...
Great food excellent atmosphere friendly service. They have local food, organic and just plain old food. Bulk food section is nice and had great coffee. They have incredible sales too.
Love love love my Co-op! Great organic & whole food selections. Nice bakery/deli with tons of great food options. Parking can be dicey during peak times but they usually have an attendant that helps with getting cars in & out.
Whats not to love. Community based co op. With the freshest most delicious goods in town. Feels good knowing your shopping not just in the community but for the community. The staff is great as well; everything is just great.
Love it so much. Consistent high quality and delicious prepared foods. No complaints whatsoever.
My second home! The Lexington CoOp is a delightful shopping experience with a personal touch. A great selection of local, organic, bulk and deliciously prepared foods is available. Enjoy outdoor tables in the good weather. Patience is needed for parking at peak times but a parking attendant is most helpful.
Very nice little grocery store. Great for quick pickups of quality food and ingredients. Parking can be dicey in the tiny lot - try their Hertel location for more space. Prices are a bit high, but worth it to support a very community oriented local business.
Neighborhood health food store has grown into a supermarket. Nice selection of bulk grains, seeds, nuts, herbs and fresh produce. Lots of organics. Also nice salad bar, soups, sandwiches and baked goods.
The Lexington Coop has really fresh produce, killer baked goods and super friendly and welcoming employees. I love going food shopping at the Lexington Coop and would highly recommend it to anyone! Definitely a gem of Buffalo!
Great place! Prices on bulk are pretty good. Packaged goods are fair, they do offer some non-owner sales. Love the organic produce, often more organic choices than Wegmans!
Lexington Market is a shop of high quality fresh products even if prices are sometimes relatively high. Some products are also locally sourced. The staff are the best, very friendly and professional. I really enjoyed doing my shopping there. The shop is small but they have almost everything.
Nice store with a moderate selection. Good seasonal produce. Nice bulk foods selection but weve had a couple stale purchases in the past, as you find anywhere. Prices are high-ish although they do have nice member discounts sometimes and I think members may get a small percentage discount across the board, although that might only be with volunteering, cant remember.Fresh coffee (they sell fair trade bulk, too) and prepared foods are quite good. Awesome cheese selection and their local product count seems to grow every time I visit. Tasty place for a healthy, quick lunch - there are a few tables out front, although most people do take-out.Sushi is decent. Baked goods are the bomb!
A great, small well-stocked healthy food market, with a prepared food hot bar, fresh bread and sandwiches and lots of organic choices. It boasts a large section of bulk items, and fresh produce. You will find a high quality of merchandise in all sections, but it can be pricy at times.
Always💬 purchase extra virgin olive oil. Pricey but, worth it. 😷
Overpriced, overworked staff, look behind the scenes- this place isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
If you are familiar with Wholefoods, then you can expect the same prices as well as the food here. This Lexco location is the smaller of the two, the bigger store is on Hertel. What makes this location unique, is that the Buffalo food tours features them. I love the variety of local products that they carry. There produce is fresh and their carry out Cafe is very good. No complaints with Lexco at all.
My regular grocery store. I love their small but excellent hot and cold bar, soup selections, and pre-made grab and go sandwiches and salads. Excellent produce, packaged meats, and healthy foods. I like the size of the store, everything I need without the distraction of cooking gadgets and lawn furniture.
Some delicious a$$ coffee and fresh food options everyday. You may pay extra but it’s a special little buffalo treat
Good little store for a city location. Makes the most of the space. Attentive department employees. Good produce. Orders of magnitude better than their sister store on Hertel.
Often a witty chalkboard out front. great bulk spices and amazing bread selection. the co-op is just the best.
This is a favorite spot in the Elmwood Village. Prices are high but the food is of the highest quality. Great take out too!
You know... Its a little more expensive but thats the price of not being a 1000x location grocery store. The prepared foods have been my lunch for the last few weeks. The pumpkin muffins are the best and the chocolate chip banana muffins are even better.
They carry some vegan items that are nearly impossible to find anywhere else. This co-op really filled in the missing pieces to my grocery list. They have an excellent bulk section and fresh, local, and organic produce.
A great grocery store for unique items. Dont forget to try the hot bar for breakfast or lunch. You wont be disappointed.
A bit pricey for groceries but the quality of the products is really nice . Also the staff is always super friendly. Highly recommended.
Not really a co-op per Se, more of a yuppy, hipster, co-op clone. Basicly It is a commercial brand based co-op market (obviously my opinion,) based on shopping at several other co-ops out of the area. Just main pedestrian, run of mill items that can be had at a good supermarket. Not really much local fare, some prices are reasonable to fair, while others are way out of line for same company brand that you can get elsewhere much cheaper. I came from another co-op GreenStar that has obviously spoiled me on local sourced items and such. Workers are pleasant, a plus, this is more of a showy, co-op lite version of a co-op.
Words cannot adequately describe my joy when Lexington Co-op opened a second store on Hertel. The employees there are highly motivated and serve as my guides 4 many of the products and produce found there. The food there is outstanding, and they make a real effort to find economical ways to live well and eat well. From the portion size of the Parmesan reggiano and meats to very thoughtful sales, I find I can eat nutritiously even on a fixed income. They are very welcoming and all the shoppers are friendly. Its a wonderful place to just stop by and hang out 😎
Their hot bar is a lifesaver when it comes to late nights at work. Food is always superb and different. Youll end up surprising yourself when you decide on a whim to scoop up vegan salmon mac n cheese and end up loving them so much that you wish they had them everyday. This place is great. Be a member! Its a one time fee...totally pays off plus helps support the co-op. The smells are free.
Have foods that other stores dont carry. A little pricey on some items. Very nice take out foods and a great patio in summer to eat it.
She tells him ooh loveNo ones ever gonna hurt you, loveIm gonna give you all of my loveNobody matters like youShe tells him your life aint gonna be nothing like my lifeYoure gonna grow and have a good lifeIm gonna do what Ive got to do
Its not conveniently located for me and parking is very limited. The organic products I used to purchase are mostly gone and what remains is frequently out of stock and the prices skyrocketed. They stopped carrying a great number of items to make room for prepared foods, beer and other beverages. If I wanted that stuff, Id go to a grocery store. Now Im stuck either not being able to afford the foods Id like or I cant get them at all. Although a second location on Hertel would be much handier, if selection is just as awful, Im not sure Ill be going there any more often.
My favorite grocery store in Buffalo. Member owned and stocked with a wide variety of healthy foods. They also have a hot bar, salad bar, and soup if you want to grab a healthy meal on the run.
Typical co op. I like to buy bulk items here. Great selection, nice staff and good beer selection.
Great food. Lovely staff. Hard to compare prices with bigger stores though.
Good stuff, good variety, thankfully small store, good produce and great bakery - just on the pricier side.
Nice clean with all the items needed. .plus a good cheese section.
5 stars for the super staff.5 stars for the organic ad vegan choices.Pricey though compared to similar products at Wegmans.
Great food. Great service. The future of the grocery store is right here
Great food. Prepared foods are amazing! A bit pricey.
Consistent wonderful fresh selections and the staff is the most wonderful
One of my favorite stores to shop in. Healthy selections!
Love my local food co-op. Great food, reasonable prices, and I support my local economy. Yay!
Used to be tiny place run by volunteers and has grown into a real grocery store now on Elmwood Ave. Very nice place to shop for organic food and spices.
If you looking for a wide variety of healty food options from prepacked items to ready to eat, then you found what you are looking for. Lexington has everything you need to live a healthy life style.
Best local, downtown grocery. High quality food and amazing meal bar!
Love the Co-op, highly recommend becoming a member. The staff is great with a good selection of organic food to buy.
Fresh, friendly and convenient. The food that is....thats fresh. The people...theyre friendly.
Great place to pick up fresh items for an affordable price.
Great selection. Friendly and helpful staff! Always a sale going on.
Great produce from local farms, tons of organic options, delicious hot food bar, and friendly helpful employees
Love the co-op! Great people, yummy, fresh, and healthy food!
Small but well-stocked organic market. Great bulk section and prepared food.
I love this place get really excited when shopping there all kinds of food cater to vegan/vegetarian love it
We love the co-op
Love the food quality here! Always clean and employees are always helpful!
My favorite place to shop! Ready made food is delicious and convenient.
A little pricey but good quality food and ingredients.
Great ready to go selections and healthy products for the home, body and more.
Expensive but healthy. like a mini whole foods but all locally sourced. only seating is outside in summer tho
Organic groceries, vegan food, and fresh homemade soup and other food every day.
Its a nice place, bakery goods are solid. A place for when youre feeling bougie but healthy
Awesome natural, organic and whole foods products!
You know the food you get here is delicious, fresh, and healthy!
Awesome local grocery store with great produce, organic choices, and local meat.
I love shopping here. Theyve always got just what I need.
This is where to get the best bulk decaf coffee I have found, and the best hotbar food. Not to mention mochi & kimchi, fresh veg & fruit, etc.
Nice market with high quality products. Prices and selection are a bit lacking though.
Nice selection of pricey organic food.
Great produce & bulk foods, prepared foods and dips are fantastic.
Great place. Great people. Great food.
So much healthy food and the staff is personal and helpful!!
Great food/produce, polite staff, excellent ambience!
Great stuff...not cheap. All organic. Very friendly!
It makes me feel good shopping there
Awesome market for shopping for vegan products but prices are insane one home made cookie could cost you 3 bucks
Lexington is a solid coop; extensive hot bar selection and supply of local/regional products and produce. I wish they had indoor seating for the winter time!
Love this place! You can find the most obscure things here, and live that its mostly organic
Great product selection, helpful staff, excellent prepared foods
Clean, friendly atmosphere with a nice variety of foods.
