I would really think twice about booking an appointment with John Emily Studio. They will cancel your appointment for no reason or double book you and turn you away. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.I booked my J.E.S. bridal appointment over two months ago and called 2 weeks before the set date to re-confirm. The only reason why I called them to re-confirm was because I was making arrangements to pick up my bridal belt from Ladies of Lineage and they told me to confirm the appointment because several of their brides were cancelled/turned away because they were double booked.Then, I found out John Emily Studio had also double booked me. I had to call and email them several times to get responses and they were incredibly unprofessional. When I finally did speak to who I was supposed to, they cancelled my appointment and stated for legal reasons they could not disclose why they had to cancel the appointment. She repeated that like 5x. She insinuated that they cancelled me because I was a referral from Ladies of Lineage, which I thought was odd and extremely unprofessional. She even said that it was no their fault and that they apologize on behalf of Ladies of Lineage. During the call, she wouldnt let me speak and continuously interrupted me and she never once apologized for the trouble or for double booking me. When I asked why they hadnt reached out sooner, she said they were planning to call but hadnt gotten around to it yet. I told her that this is not something to wait around to do. It should have been handled immediately.After the phone call, John Emily Studio emailed me the details of two other alterations shops that I could contact. Their email was incredibly rude. They didnt address me, they didnt apologize for the inconvenience....it only had the contact information for the other 2 shops. Who conducts business this way??If youre thinking about booking with John Emily Studio, I would think again and find a place that treats everyone fairly and with respect.

Ill be married April 9, and cannot say enough how much I appreciate John Emily Alterations. Their team went above and beyond to customize my gown and make it my dream dress! It is perfect. ❤My dress fit well, but I didnt care for the illusion neckline or keyhole back. The John Emily team helped me transform the neckline, add a small cap sleeve and fill in the key hole back with additional lace. The dress also had a ballgown skirt but by quickly removing a layer of crinoline underneath, it now has more of an A line fit. The team added a bustle too, which will save the dress during the reception. I love it! Nothing about our wedding planning process has been normal due to the pandemic, but I always looked forward to visiting the John Emily studio, as everyone was so pleasant.Definitely choose John Emily for your alterations needs!

Brides beware. I made an appointment with this shop a few months ago for my October 2021 wedding. I received a phone call, 12 days before my first appointment letting me know that John Emily had unilaterally cancelled my fitting because of a dispute they had with the shop where I bought my dress. When I explained that I bought my dress off the rack and only needed hemming, slight alterations and a bustle, I was told “sorry, we cancelled your appointment and don’t have any time left on the day you were supposed to have your fitting”. I asked how it was possible that they had already filled my appointment since they were just cancelling it . . . to which I was told that John Emily cancelled my appointment TWO WEEKS prior to calling me. So they cancelled my first wedding dress fitting two weeks before letting me know, also knowing that per wedding dress fitting timelines I was going to be in a crunch to find another place on such short notice. After pleading with the studio (pretty much begging them to find time for me) they said they could fit me in but it would be three weeks later than my original appointment. After hanging up the phone and thinking about how I had been treated, I called to cancel. I just can’t trust a studio who treated me this way purely because of a dispute they had with the shop where I bought my dress. This is an issue on the business level yet John Emily chose to take it out on the brides (I can’t confirm this but my new alterations shop told me that this has happened to 25+ brides). All this to say, be careful if you choose to work with this group because if they somehow get in a fight with your bridal shop, you might be stressed to find someone else on short notice.

Unfortunately I had a terrible experience with them where I left the studio in tears. I had a slightly complicated alteration request which I called and fully explained to them beforehand and told them when my wedding date was and asked if they could help, they told me yes and to come in but they didnt have a consultation appt for two weeks, but the receptionist assured me that I had enough time until my wedding. Fast forward to the appointment and they essentially told me they couldnt help me, needed 12 weeks to even do any kind of alteration, which was shocking as they already knew my wedding was less than 12 weeks away, so they not only wasted my time but I lost those two weeks of time. They were very dry, short, and unapologetic. I would not recommend going to them.

We loved our experience at John Emily! I was struggling to find a place that would even see me because I bought an unaltered dress second hand. Not only did they see me but they took care of me! Now my dress fits perfectly! Their work is top quality! The new buttons they found for my bustle match beautifully with the flowers in my skirt. The beading they had to add to the belt area is so accurate that we can’t even tell which side they altered! I am simply amazed at what these ladies were able to do.

Highly recommend!! They were very kind and super easy to work with! I have used them 2x now once for a prom dress and the other time for my wedding dress. I am from out of state and they took that into consideration when setting appointments up which was super helpful!

Seems like they are not here to make the most special dress of your life a pleasant experience, disappointing skill levels as well. Those I asked about it in my own quest for alterers gently advised me to stay away and find someone else.

I had a really great experience with John Emily Alterations. I came in with a wedding dress that was waaaay too big and they handled it so well. They were professional, attentive to detail, and displayed top quality work. I was really nervous since my dress was so big but by the end of my fittings, it looked fantastic!!! As well as being experts at what they do, they are welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. They took care of me and my dress when we had to postpone and reschedule our wedding due to COVID-19. They were so flexible and understanding! When they recently opened up their gown care studio, I was ecstatic. After working with them for so many months, I only trusted them with my dress and was so glad I could use them for this service. They prepared my dress and veil for the wedding day and also cleaned and preserved it after! I am so lucky I found them and am so grateful we were able to work together! They let me switch out the dress for another, put my remaining balance towards the new dress, and had my dress ready within a few weeks of my wedding day. The owner of this alterations studio was at each of my fittings. Her knowledge and kindness throughout the fitting process amidst the brunt of COVID regulations was excellent. The studio staff did their best to accommodate my needs when it came to scheduling appointment times. My dress was all lace with sleeves and it needed a lot of work. I had 4 different fittings to get it right, but they took their time and made sure that everything fit perfectly for me. The cost at the beginning covered everything they did from the time I dropped it off through each of the 4 fittings. They were very kind and helpful, and always accommodated my schedule. I’m so happy with my dress now and can’t wait to post the final wedding pictures!

I used John Emily Alterations to alter my wedding dress and it turned out absolutely perfectly! They did a great job with the bustle, taking it in slightly, adjusting the straps, and adding sewn-in cups. I did have a slight panic at my second-to-last fitting, where I think it must have been taken in slightly too much (my body had not changed that much since the previous fitting) — but the woman I was working with said not to worry, they would let it out a bit! They corrected it and it fit perfectly the subsequent time and on my wedding day, and it looked wonderful! All in all I ended up very happy, though I felt like it was a little expensive, but then again I don’t know how the prices would compare to other places.

I cannot say enough great things about John Emily Studio!I went here to have my wedding dress altered. I’m short and had lost a good amount of weight since I had ordered my dress so there was a lot of work that needed to be done on my lace gown. I liked that they set up multiple appointments to make sure it fit just right. They accommodated my last minute additional alterations needed 4 days before I got on a plane for my destination wedding. I can’t believe that not only did they do it but they did an absolutely amazing job. Every person at our wedding commented on how my dress looked like it was made for me- thanks to John Emily Studio it basically was 🤗I liked them so much I came back with a bridesmaid dress for my brothers wedding. I’ll be using them for all formal alterations I need in the future.

They are by-appointment only, so all of their time is dedicated to you during your time slot. Everyone was so nice and it was sweet to hear that it was a family business. I didn’t have a whole lot that needed to be done, but it was still VERY AFFORDABLE. They were very knowledgeable and it made me confident that their work was going to be well done. At my second fitting, everything was perfect and we added straps to my dress, as I had forgotten to get them done at my first appointment. I am an out of town bride, and they were very accommodating about getting the straps done quickly. I’m so very happy and would take anything that needs alterations to them if I could!

My experience with John Emily Alterations was spectacular. I had just recently moved to the area and was hesitant to put my beautiful wedding gown in just anyone’s hands. The staff at John Emily was so fantastic. They are very knowledgeable and experienced. I had complete trust leaving my gown with them. I had three fittings spread out over a few months. They all provided opinions and focused on all of the little details. At the end of each appointment, I took time taking pictures, trying on accessories, and just enjoyed being in my dress. I never felt rushed. Several pieces of my gown required many tiny adjustments, and they took their time, making sure everything was perfect. They were able to add on removable straps to accommodate my different ceremony and reception looks. They also offer multiple bustle options. The one I chose was so perfect for my gown. I don’t think I would have received this option at any other salon. It is so unique. I truly had a great experience at John Emily and will definitely recommend them to all of my friends. I’m so happy that this salon will be a part of my wedding day!

John Emily Studio made my wedding dress alteration process SO EASY!!! They made my dress absolutely perfect!! They had to take my dress in, sew on a belt, hem it, do a bustle and add cups, and it was still affordable!! Everyone was so helpful and made the experience very fun. Before I left my final fitting they made sure I was 100% with the dress and made some super small changes while I waited! When my wedding dress came in, I received zero help from the bridal boutique I ordered it from. I wasnt excited about my dress and it resulted in me waiting last minute to take it to get altered. John Emily was able to transform my wedding dress to fit me perfectly. There were affordable and very kind to work with. I came in for my second fitting and the hips of my dress did not lay right. They did the alterations onsite within 30 minutes. The bustle was absolutely beautiful. I am so happy with their work! Highly recommend!!!

I had a lot done to my wedding dress even had buttons added down the back and they gave me suggestions for things that would make my dress more flattering that I wouldn’t have even guessed I needed. This was the first place I went to after reading all the great reviews, but unfortunately, I had a terrible experience. I made an appointment a couple days ahead of time for dress consultation, got the automated text immediately for a confirmation. The day of, I received another text, which pushed my appointment back 30 minutes without asking if that was okay, but no big deal.I arrive to the shop, I try on my dress, and they provide a quote (which seemed high), so I asked if I could have a couple days to think about it. The man immediately got annoyed and said, Fine, you have until noon tomorrow to let me know, the next appointment we have is next Thursday (at this point it was already 5pm). I called them back at 10:30am the next day, saying that I would love for them to alter my dress, and the reply I got was Sorry, Thursday appointment is gone, there is nothing we can do for you, were full.I have never been to a place that is so nonchalant about customer service and have felt absolutely no empathy or desire to help someone with a busy schedule.If you have a busy schedule, in a pinch, or want to go somewhere where you feel valued, I would recommend going elsewhere.

I was very apprehensive about getting my wedding dress altered as I have heard MANY horror stories. As soon as I met with Katherine and Christian, I was confident in their abilities. My wedding dress came out perfect. Not only did it fit like a glove, but they made it so comfortable by removing the boning in the waist area as requested. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Thank you both!!!

I have gone to John Emily for my wedding dress alterations, and for a few bridesmaids dresses. They have been excellent to work with every time! I would suggest them for alterations to anyone in the Charlotte area.
