Super helpful staff that helped me out in a bind and couldnt appreciate it more. A great neighborhood store that you should visit for servicing and gear. Thank you again, BFF!!
Really disappointed in my experience. I wanted to try this shop instead of my normal shop because its woman owned but really had an average experience. I came in and explained I was fixing up my old Schwinn to sell but the chain was skipping and I wasnt sure if it was a simple derailleur adjust or a more expensive problem. The person at the desk let me know the mechanic would be in in about 40 minutes but theyd call me. I walked back over 1 hour and 40 minutes later after hearing nothing, saw my bike up on the rack being worked on and said OK, just checking in. Ill hang out a bit longer then went outside to wait and read. Another 40 minutes pass, no one calls me. I walk back in to check and lo and behold bike is done and sitting there. No one explains the issue to me or asked what work I wanted done, though the mechanic is friendly and explains the problem once I ask. I am charged $23 for a derailleur adjust and new cable/housing but also told that it cant shift into all the gears because of the derailleur spring. I pay, leave, realize the chain is still slipping and moreover, the new bar tape I put on two days ago to sell the bike has grease all over it. I have had a lot of friends have really positive experiences here so I dont know if it was an off day or what but the communication could have been a lot better.
I’ve had great experiences at BFF! The staff members are knowledgeable and friendly. I went in today for help with weird noises my bike was making and the problems were quickly diagnosed and repaired. I have a different store closer to me but will happily go a little out of my way to get this level of service.
I brought my Schwinn road bike from the 70s into the shop to get some maintenance done. I left so happy! These folks are so kind and helpful, and arent judgemental if your bike isnt that great. I look forward to visiting BFF Bikes more often.
Love my Po Campo backpack pannier that I got here. :)
Gillian and her crew are great! Helped me put together an amazing bike when all things cycling were impossible to find. Cant recommend them enough.
Excellent bike shop - mechanics are top notch on everything from cruisers to carbon race bikes. Ive been really impressed.
Ive been to BFF many times, and have always had friendly associates help me and have enjoyed several events that they have put on. Its obvious that theyre putting in a ton of effort to engage the community in ways that are needed and valued! Service prices are comparable to other shops in the city, and they have a good selection of accessories.
This team really goes above & beyond. I was still admittedly new to the hobby/sport/lifestyle and needed guidance to get me going. They got me on my first city bike and helped with all the maintenance and learning curves. Then a couple years in, when the worst happened and my bike was stolen, they helped me find another extra-large frame (I should mention Im a giant monster person) and it wasnt even at their store! Kelly, April and especially Gillian have all been great over the years (and others who Im forgetting, everyone there is great), and theyve converted me from a customer Im now a devoted fan for life.
Just picked up my bike from BFF - the deluxe tuneup plus new tires and brake pads makes my bike feel brand new. I neglected it for some time, but now it’s seriously amazing. Highly recommended!
Brought my bike in to bleed my brakes. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. They provided an up front cost as well an honest estimate of when it would be completed. They were able to fix up my brakes perfectly, got it done on schedule, and at estimated price (cheaper than Trek shop down the street). I will be bringing my bike back here next time I need some work done. Excellent Service!
Staff lost my Liv bike order in a change of the shops ownership, and was evidently too afraid to tell me or the owner (or too ignorant to even know) when I stopped in to ask about it twice. I wanted to give the shop a chance with a womens bicycle even after they gave mens bikes poor mechanical service on several separate occasions, but losing my order cost nearly nine months.I can think of what one of the Fs in the name should stand for.edit: The below reply is fundamentally dishonest. The owner didnt help us find the other bike shop in Columbus that had what I was looking for, Id already ordered it when the owner gave this as an option. Giant thanks to Google for allowing responses to responses for when businesses lie about what they are capable of offering, as in this case.
Just did the bike flat fix clinic and learned other things about my bike. Patient hands-on learning. Bought chain cleaner - affordable. Glad this place exists. #womanownedbusiness
Super friendly people to help and in a new space. Female focus, but can help out guys and kids with bikes, service and accessories.
Did the bike repair class they offered and I will tryst them with my vintage bike.
Amazing women-owned neighborhood bike shop! The staff is excellent and always willing to help answer my questions and explain things. I bought my Liv road bike from here and absolutely love it! They also offer workshops and group rides for an even greater sense of community.
Always great sales and service from BFF Bikes. This is a women-owned bike shop, and Gillian, April, Annie and their staff do a great job for the cycling community. You cant go wrong whether youre shopping for a new bicycle, accessories, or to have your bicycle serviced.
Super helpful and friendly service... and a nice selection of bikes styles!
I was out biking and one of my tires went flat. They had the tube I needed and were wable to change your t for me in 30 minutes or so so I could be on my way again
Everyone is always friendly, and Ive been very happy with the repairs that they have done on my bike!
I love my new bike! Annie was extremely helpful. I’ve only ever had hand-me-downs and garage sale finds, so I wasn’t sure how to shop for a bike that fit me right. She and tinge staff did a great job making sure I was set up with everything I needed to make sure I got the best experience with my new ride.
BFF is our neighborhood bike store and they have the highest level of customer service. At least once or twice a season we come into the store for some repairs and adjustments and they could not be more helpful. And they are very reasonable in what the charge. I highly recommend them!!
Cant speak highly enough about Annie and the team at BFF. I was in a hit and run incident shortly after purchasing a bike with BFF and Annie was willing to help repair the bike for minimal cost after hearing what happened. Theyre the only people in Chicago Ill go to for anything bike related!GREAT TO WORK WITH
I honestly think Id be lost without BFF Bikes—its the most inclusive and inviting bike shop Ive ever encountered. Not to mention, theyre darn good at what they do. Stellar repairs, expert advice, and fantastic workshops. I always feel comfortable walking in here, and even more comfortable asking questions I might get a side-eye for at other shops. Thank you, BFF Bikes, for even existing, and for taking fantastic care of my ride.
So glad to have found my neighborhood bike shop! Went in for a fix, they were nice, quick, and priced so low!
There wasnt a technician available when I came in. The biking gear there was also marked up (and bike accessories are already pricey.) All of their helmets were $75, no lower prices option. Overall was disappointed due to hype. The place felt more aesthetic than true. I didnt feel welcome either, which is a problem for many femmes in biking and I thought this would be a different circumstance which is why I came in. Tis too bad.
This is a fantastic bike shop. They stock bikes and accessories for all sorts of levels and riders. Mechanics and sales people are super friendly and they host all kinds of fun clinics and rides. Theres even a comfy couch so if you drag a friend in with you, they can chill and not feel awkward (and who hasnt felt awkward in a bike shop???). Its women owned and women focused, but people of all genders are welcome. I totally agree with the reviewer who said that when you leave this place you feel like youve made a new friend.
Fantastic staff and a very welcoming environment. Their community workshop classes like the Fix-a-Flat Clinic have been extremely informative for a novice like myself, and theyve always been very helpful whenever Ive needed any repairs or work on my bike in both the quality of service and explaining whats involved. Lots of gear too. There have been a couple times now where Ive scoured the internet and other bike shops for the ideal accessories to find BFF has exactly what Im looking for.
Bought my first bike here last year, they were super helpful as I didnt know much about bikes and needed a lot of help. I told them I was hesitant to spend much money because I wasnt sure how much Id get into it (I ended up becoming obsessed with biking), so instead of taking advantage of my naivety, they gave me a really good deal on a discontinued previous years model which they pulled up for me from the basement. Cut to a year later, I brought my bike in to have some adjustments to the fitting and they remembered my name almost a year later and adjusted the bike free of charge. Really great community bike shop, awesome people, highly recommend.
This is a good bike shop. The people here do a great job and also THEY’RE SUPER NICE. All the stars.
One of the best bike shops in city! would recommend to anyone looking to get into cycling -especially with their knowledgeable staff
Just went in after my bike broke down. Very helpful and friendly with reasonable pricing. I highly recommend for any bicycle needs.
Always happy to shop here 🚲
These guys were amazing. Walked in with a punctured inner tube and walked out much wiser and a cleaned up bike. Fantastic service and very friendly people! I live next to bike shops but I will travel out of my way to go here.
Great service. The mechanics will answer all your questions, and its an incredibly welcoming place. I recently moved out of the area, but Ill still make the effort to come here for service.
This bike shop is so helpful and has tons of events. I attended a fix a flat clinic and feel confident that I can fix my tires, or anyone elses, in a jiffy. Everyone was super knowledgable and helpful. They offer ever service your bike could need, have tons of great products and even organize rides for the community!
I got a flat tire on my way to class and they were able to get me back on the road in only a few minutes. Prices were fair and service was kind and quick.
I knew I couldnt make it to my desired location without my bike falling apart. I rode up to the north side to take care of a few things before I began to feel my peddle shifting its way off.So did a search in the area for bike shops and found bff bikes. I was welcomed by a gentle smile from the owner and a welcoming atmosphere. It was surprising how clean this place is.So I showed what I was thinking was the problem with my bike. And Im bad at remembering names but the guy that was working on my bike not only let me know what was needed but why it would be cheaper to fix that problem so that it wouldnt warp the piece connecting them.Any way mike was fixed when he said it would be fixed by cause he ordered the parts for me. The bike is working great again. Its like brand new, I really dreaded riding for awhile because of it. And cool thing was that he wasnt trying to sell me anything extra that I wasnt asking for. Im coming back next time I need some more repairs. And I would recommend this place and thats that Im coming north from the Pilsen neighborhood.
Great bike shop, knowledgeable staff, excited to have them in the neighborhood.
BFF is an amazing bike shop. The staff is friendly and knowledgable and the store has nice bikes at reasonable prices.
To preface:I have been trying to find a bike for my girlfriend for over a year, with little to no luck at all. The majority of shops that I looked at simply did not have a variety of female bikes to choose from.Fast forward to this past weekend (4/26/14):I had heard the buzz about BFF bikes and having a free weekend on my hands, my girlfriend and I decided to go and check it out.1. The ambiance in this shop is amazing. It is warm/cozy/ inviting. All good vibes from this place. They have a nice lounge area with a couch and interesting and relevant reading material.2. The people. Liz and Vanessa ( one of the owners) were there to greet us as soon as we walked in the door. They were very helpful when it came to figuring out which bike style would best fit my girlfriend, without feeling like they were trying to sell us something.3. The merch. I didnt take exact count, but i would say they had at least 10 different styles of bike to choose from accommodating just about any riding style. it felt like enough to to choose from without being overwhelmed by 50 different bikes. The brands are nice too, Bianchi, Giant and Public I believe. They also carried stylish riding clothes (of which my girlfriend plans to go back and pick up).3.5 - Service- they do have a service station. We only got a light tune up because the bike was brand new, but we plan on coming back for regular service.4. The experience. We were able to go in, learn about their bikes, take one for a test drive, purchase a bike/helmet/lock. While they were tuning the bike up for us, we really got to know the staff and had a great time.It is hard to walk away from BFF bikes without feeling like youve made a new friend. I would recommend this place to any level rider/ male or female.
I walked in at the end of work on a Friday and was greeted by a baby, a puppy and 2 of the friendliest folk! Im only going here forever.
Super awesome and knowledgable individuals who care for people and bikes all the same. Great prices and location as well.
Friendly shop where everyone is knowledgeable. Reasonable prices for basic tune ups.
Excellent service, and the food was AMAZING!! Definitely a must visit in the neighborhood.
BFF is a bike store aimed primarily at womens products. Obviously, they have tubes and treads and tools for anyone. However, this inviting space caters very well to getting women up and ready to roll. Please dont expect that this means a bunch of flowery and pink gear; bike gear is notoriously designed for mens bodies and the thoughtful selection of products, designs, and manufacturers tries to broaden the body types fitted here. The staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful and approachably knowledgable; further, they have community events posted and centered around the shop. If the dudely atmosphere of some other bike shops is a bit of a put-off, I would recommend checking out BFF to engage with other people who love biking and can help you get more engaged.
Friendly staff! Quickest front flat fix Ive seen, to get me out of a pinch of being late. Super convenient location.
Very helpful and through.
Awesome!
Very good place the employees are friendly
