Took great care of my tire repair. They called and communicated the problem and solution well. Price was reasonable and they had it finished within 24 hours. Polite and helpful place.
Great customer service and talented mechanics. My bike wasn’t shifting properly and they got me in within a few days and put on a new derailleur cable and serviced the rear hub. The drive train is working great now and the rear wheel is spinning quietly and efficient. Great work and thanks for getting my bike ready for many more miles!!
Went to have a tire repaired. They asked for me to drop it off for at least 4 days. For a tire repair? dont waste your time. There are plenty of other bike repair shops that will have it done in about an hour or so who are much nicer than these guys.
Great service and quick turnaround! The team of mechanics at Johnny Sprockets were friendly, helpful, and provided excellent service! I had 1 bike needing a new wheel, and two needing an upgrade on the bottom bracket, and they had all the work done within a day or two! They kept me updated on what was needed (the bike needing the wheel had a few unexpected needs) and all 3 bikes are working super now! Would recommend this shop to anyone needing service on their bike, and from looking around, would also recommend for picking up a new bike or parts. Thank you!!
Friendly bike repair and accessories store. Entered for a flat tire, knowledgeable and friendly people. Super quick service. Recommended.
Great service, reasonable prices. This is mostly a repair shop. They sell some accessories, too.
The employees aren’t the friendliest and like most people have said, the service is pretty slow.
I have been going to Johnny Sprockets since they were located on Bryn Mawr. I have bought 2 bikes over this decade+ timeframe and had every tuneup for both done here and Ive never wanted to go to another bike shop! The guys are knowledgeable, professional and always treat me well. Their prices are fair and their work is top notch! I will always recommend them to anyone looking for a bike or service.
Amazing service, I dropped my bike Wed, for a tune up and I got it back Tuesday. If something is wrong the mechanic will call you to let you know what is the problem. So I recommend it 100%
Great customer service! Despite the pandemic pandemonium, they were able to sort me out an emergency fix as a walk-in.
One of the best bike shops in Chicago. These guys keep me rolling year round. The staff is friendly, helpful, and do a great job of making it easy to get on the repair schedule. I really appreciate that when you get your bike back they take the time to show you the work that was done. When I got my bottom bracket replaced they took the time to show me the old parts so I could see what worn out bearings look like.Ive also bought a bike here as well and am very happy with the 2 year free tune-up package that comes with new bikes.
I had rear wheel slipping issue due to me trying to convert my gear bike to single speed, which is not recommended on the frame I have. Adam was very professional, knowledgeable, patient, and most importantly honest and tried to help me save money. Overall a great local bike shop and having an employee like Adam is a huge blessing to the shop in my opinion. Great job guys!!!
Needed some modifications and a tune up on my fat bike. This shop was very professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and did a great job on my bike at a great price. I had purchased tires and rims through an outside third party that did not work and the shop did not charge me anything for the labor they incurred to try and make it work. They offered suggestions which I took and got the right components which they then installed. Bike runs great and is as smooth as silk. Thanks for the awesome job.
Got my bike fixed up here recently. Got my wheels aligned, brake pads replaced, and new handlebar tape. All in all they did a damn great job! My bike feels better than new! I can totally recommend this place for bike repair.
For bicycle repair, I highly recommend Johnny Sprockets in Andersonville. They were super helpful in discussing possible options for repairing my bicycle (which had multiple problems) and the associated costs, and they got the repairs done quickly and very reasonably for how much work it ended up needing. Super nice and professional and happy to answer questions and discuss things. They ended up having to do significant work- I thought I just needed serious wheel truing but I had three broken spokes and a cracked rim, and a handful of other maintenance issues that I had been putting off. They ended up rebuilding the wheel from the hub up, replaced the chain and chainring, and got my shifters working properly.I wont name names, but I tried to take my bicycle to another local shop and was turned away twice by the owner because he was too busy and grumpily disinterested in taking on any more work. He said it would be like 2 months before he even got to look at my bicycle and suggested I buy the expensive specialized equipment to repair it myself. So if you need bicycle repair and its out of your personal skillset, I highly recommend Johnny Sprockets. They wont let you down.
Contacted them when looking for a Tarmac disc Pro 2019 and from the very beginning got excellent feedback. They are very professional and very customer service focused. Very competitive price and great team. Wheel had a small scratch and they already contacted bike supplier for replacement before I got into the shop.Definitely would recommend them to anyone looking for an excellent service and/or looking to buy a new bike.
This is your basic specialized dealer nothing spectacular in the store I always favor specialized dealers so I gave them a five star I hope they can work on their selves and their customer service. I liked their other store a lot better or the guy that was working in there it was last summer I don’t remember his name
Great service when I needed to replace a bike lock.
Walked in and was greeted immediately. The person helping me was very knowledgeable and helped me pick out the right bike for me. Very happy with my purchase and I will definitely be back for accessories!
I almost forgot to rate this place. The guy who was helping me was VERY pretentious. This isnt a shop for average bikers but if you like slim high end street bikes MAYBE theyll help you without being snippy about it. 2 stars because they did end up helping but I didnt want to buy from them and left. Wont come back. Need to work on their people skills. Maybe not all of them but the guy with grey hair and glasses.
Real cool staff. Very helpful and believe me when I say that they know what theyre doing. Theyre honest as well which many bike shops lack nowadays. I would recommend them to any cyclist.
I stopped in my first time to grab some tubes, and they offered a Specialized presta valve deal of buy three for $7 each. I couldnt pass that up. Then I went in to get a specific, generally non-stocked item, and they were very helpful in finding what I need and placing the order for me.Im definitely happy to have Johnny Sprockets as my neighborhood bike shop.
Love this place and its close to home. Some of the staff can be a little more upbeat, but that does not deter from the knowledge they posses and skill. They know what theyre doing and they wont rip you off.I went to a bike shop in the uptown areas (lakeview) and they were about to charge me an arm and a leg ($100-$150), they wanted to replace a crank set bottom bracket and charge $40 for service. I called Johnny Sprockets and they estimated about $75! When I got it fixed all I needed was a bottom bracket and only cost me $45, and it feels amazing to ride again. There service fees are very reasonable, however I did catch a service sale. :)
I was out of the country for almost a year and had to leave my beloved hybrid bike in storage. I got it out to take it to a concert in Millennium Park, riding the old lakefront trail on the way. Id had the bike tuned up just before I left, so I thought I would only need to inflate the tires and Id be good to go. Unfortunately, the storage unit was not climate controlled as Id been promised, so the rear brake cable was rusted through, and it seized up the first time I tried to use it, almost sending me over the handlebars.I took the bike into Johnny Sprockets a few minutes before closing, and they quickly diagnosed the problem and told me they were pretty booked up and could get it fixed within a few days. Perhaps it was the desperate look in my eyes (I had gotten so excited to see the lake for the first time since last summer, and didnt want to take the el) that convinced the worker to double check, and he told me he could do it on the spot after all.Fifteen minutes later I was back in business, and I rode along the lake to the concert in record time. A terrific welcome back to American customer service! Everyone was friendly and they really helped me out here. Will definitely return next time something goes wrong!
I went here for the first time today. Everyone who worked there was great, service was fast, and they had a good selection of parts for a fair price. I would defiantly go back.
They have done a great job with not just my bike but several of my friends bikes. I like the honesty too. Thanks guys
The owner and staff make this lbs great. They are knowledgable, skilled and friendly. Its the kind of shop that needs a lounge because its enjoyable to frequent.I bought my wifes bike from them years ago and found out about their events. Theyve been my go to for quick fixes and advice about cycling in Chicago. Do youself a favor and meet the staff or the owner.
Helpful staff and quick service, would recommend.
This shop is great! They fixed my flat tire very quickly and got me back on the road!
A good selection of bicycles. Friendly and helpful staff. Quick and effective service, given the high traffic.
Andersonville is lucky to have such a knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and carefully curated bicycle shop as we have in Johnny Sprockets. I am a bicycle enthusiast and all-season bicycle commuter and I rely on the expert maintenance, curated supplies, and helpful advice that Johnny Sprockets provides.
Great service with welcoming staff
Had a leak while out and about and stopped by these guys - fixed me up quickly and at a fair price. Very nice guys - in fact, my wife needed a band-aid while we were there and they gave her one!
I brought my bike out of storage from the winter and into this location for a little TLC. The guy who looked at it described it as virtually immobile and urged me to cut my losses and spring for a newer model. The bike is less than 4 years old and has never given me any trouble whatsoever. He was mildly condescending when answering my questions about the dangerous state of decay my bike was in. I do not appreciate being bullied or strong armed into any costly financial decisions. The staff appeared to know what they were doing. However, I find it difficult to believe Im in some kind of immediate danger and will continue to pedal my sorry excuse for a bike to and from work every day until the impending explosion just over the horizon ensues. Ill also pedal myself to another bicycle shop from now on and encourage my peers to do the same.
My bike was in a crash, and their the only shop, that was willing to service my mtb bike, and they took very good care of my machine 👍🏾👍🏾thanks Johnny Sprokets!!!
Incredibly quick at reparing a flat. Very helpful and knowledgable about bike maintenance.
Great little shop and reasonably priced.
They have nice toys that are expensive, employees vary on attitudes.
Expensive (but solid) tune up.
Great service!
Nice shop but unhelpful staff
This location is closed!
Too expensive
