I visited during Family Weekend. The stock in the store is relatively light as the majority of the purchase period is over (textbook). Relatively clean, and I did found an item that I would purchase (U Chicago Fountain Pen). Item sold, especially apparel, are slightly on the higher side. My wife indicate that the fabric may be of lower quality.
Fairly good selection. They had a dizzying selection of water bottles, which was what I was looking for.But some other things in there are ridiculous, a single subject notebook with a hundred pages costs like $8.
It’s really small. Although it has two floors, I couldn’t find stuff I wanted (e.g., Mac adapter, simple poster cards, etc) that I could usually find in bookstores of other universities. Btw, the Starbucks on the same floor also always run out of items pretty quickly. I went there at around noon time with different friends and each time the first two to three items we asked for ran out (e.g., cold brew). Not sure if they just get less food and drinks during pandemic season.
Excellent book store. You can find pretty much anything regarding the college stuff.
Very nice place. It has a lot of items that keep the students from having to go off campus, which is a good thing.
I can say its a wanderfull place...like a dream..i love it.
I had a very bad customer experience. I shopped there on 07/22 in the morning and there was only one elderly woman “helping” customers. She kept chasing me through out the store suggesting to “help” but actually supervising me. She asked very assertively that I do not mess up closes as it is a lot of work for her to put it back even though I did not touch anything at that point. I picked up two t-shorts and went to a check out. At the check out, I realized that I got the wrong size and asked for a smaller one and she made such a displeased face is if I was asking here to bring something from the other side of Chicago. When payed for these two t-shirts, she scrambled my check and through it into the bag with a demonstrative disdain. It was very unpleasant experience.
I purchased a lot of mulch which required and requested assistance due to my back injury. The sales clerk directed me where to bring my truck for loading and assistance in the storage yard. I waited over 20 minutes with no help. I watched another truck load, wait and leave frustrated without help. I walked back to the store and complained. A young employee, who was a working college student, told me he was just informed of my need for assistance and apologized for the delay I had experienced. He was very helpful and courteous - I wish him well in his future endeavors within the field of psychology.
Bathroom is at second floor, through a door at the back of the convenience section. Wide selection of UChicago items.
Great place to pick up fun school mementos
The Starbucks guy is super rude. Also, I ordered a Mocha but there wasnt any chocolate in it! Disappointed!
The stuffed pretzels are great
Cashier at the Starbucks was high strung and rude af. Felt bad for the poor barista working with him. Disappointed.
Free books.... Nothing else to say
Nice response
The experience was courteous, sincere interactions from each person-the very beginning to everyone in loved n the process.
Very friendly staff.
We took a long walk on UofC campus today and made a quick stop at the bookstore. It was warm, cozy and smelling like fresh coffee, tea and baked goodies. Any excuse will do....we needed to sample the cookies and hot choc to make sure they were OK for everyone else....:)
Has a Starbucks inside. Run by the university so similar to a Barnes and Noble cafe. Cannot pay with the Starbucks app or redeem rewards. For Starbucks app there is another corporate run Starbucks in the CCD building. Great quick service here tho.
The bookstore is nicely laid out, is in good working order, is clean and neat, has lots of good university themed gear and is well located. The staff was friendly and helpful. It is everything a good university bookstore is supposed to be.Ok, if you want to get picky, the art designs could be more creative, but they work and are restricted by decades of tradition. Just run with it.
Sometimes its the people who are truly wonderful instead of the merchandise. The cashier we had was so lovely and fun! So was the cashier at the coffee bar. Id definitely recommend stopping here!
Nice selection of books and college spirit wear. Not only textbooks but books of general interests. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Lots of great items for UChicgo students, families and alum.
Centrally located bookstore within the campus with a wide range of books and supplies.
This is where all my beer money ended up. If you attend the UofC, you will become a frequent visitor. Visitors: walk around the gorgeous campus—> you have your BN back home!
Really nice all the place and the products, but kind of expensive.
Thank you for cheap cap of University of Chicago!I wear this cap so much these days. And there is variable kind of books.Youll be satisfied when you visit University of Chicago Bookstore. :)
Amazing Admissions staff, accommodations were made for my group at the very last moment. The campus tour was excellent and thorough. Great place to visit and even better place to study.
After Christmas they have a great, small clearance section. The cafe had a good selection. U C clothes are super expensive but thats to be expected. Nice general book selection.
Great location, good service. Has every snack you might need. The Starbucks located inside is good.
A great selection of University of Chicago apparel and keepsakes in addition to a regular Barnes & Noble bookstore. There is a good selection school supplies as well. The attached coffee shop/convenience store make this a good stop on a visit to the University.
Reasonable prices and a large assortment of supplies. Friendly and knowledgeable staff
All the apparel you can imagine plus a cosy coffee shop.
Has a ton of really cool books and University gear. Got a hoodie from there in 2016 and still holds up great
Campus book store to stock up on stationery, and campus essentials. They have a wide variety of sweats and other college gear at reasonable prices.
Excellent selection of books.Excellent helpful service.
Standard textbooks, learning materials, gifts etc. Pretty standard. No parking though. And be careful walking across the street - no one stops.
FYI: Its a Barnes and Noble, that sells Starbucks coffee, so they wont accept Starbucks gift cards. The good: Its two floors full of books (and what a great selection!) records, apparel, school supplies, etc. with plenty of areas to sit and space to browse. Friendly staff, but they dont bother patrons who are browsing. Also, theres a cafe where they sell Starbucks coffee and pastries, plus a convenience store-like shop that has everything you need. The bad: My only complaint is the location of the bathroom, which is on the second floor, but can only be reached from the first floor of the store via a secluded staircase behind an EXIT door (or elevator) that leads to a dark enclosed hallway. I never feel quite safe if Im there alone.
Primarily the bookstore that serves the university of Chicago student body, instructors and hospital workers. Public accessible. Coffee shop inside the bookstore
I remembered this as young girl growing up in chicago.
Anything you want to buy for souvenir this is the place. A bit pricey but worth visiting.
Graduated with a double masters twenty years ago. Good to be back. Friend staff and plenty of supplies and memorabilia to choose from. Will be back!
Great place to browse and purchase the attire and books you want. And you can relax at the Starbucks located inside.
Starbucks inside, convenience store as well but pretty expensive. Place for school merch and textbooks, along with some school supplies and everyday items. Convenient location!
Good coffee and wide selection of snacks, sandwiches and treats...Plenty of logo U of C merchandise as wellStop in if youre passing bye
Twice when making online apparel orders the items were out of stock. Also was told to go to the cashier upstairs when returning a rented book, after having read a sign at the counter that said to return rentals downstairs! Clearly poorly managed. Definitely a buy!
Pretty cool store. Mostly college merch. Also a Starbucks with good service
Stuffs too expensive yall its like 50 dollars for a single hoodie nuh uh that aint cool
You can buy backpacks, hats, hoodies, tees, sweatpants, water bottles, books, sketchbooks. Shop assistants are very friendly, they are usually the students of uchicago so u can even ask them about the uni . They will give you an advice and wish u good luck w yr application. The only problem is international SamsungPay doesnt work there, dont forget the physical card with you.
Its at a very good location, which is why I end up going there more often than Id like to. The cafe has a lot of options and theres seating & plenty of sunlight, but other than that its not a very pretty place to be in. The Bookstore itself is okay, but it lacks the cozy atmosphere I like seeing in bookstores.
Great staff, large space, but outrageously overlypriced items.
Lots of UC wear and fare. Get study essentials and some off-time games. They rotate seasonal cards and gifts.
Good collection of books written by Alumuni!
Nice store, the clothing is nice and not very expensive.
Has all your standard University Bookstore stuff and a wide assortment of UChicago branded appearal and merchandise.
Amazing campus amid genteel neighborhood filled with nice smart doers.
Easy to find whatever you need! Plus they have wonderful checkout service!
Official bookstore, good place to buy souvenirs, or sit down and read. It has a small cafe with Starbucks coffee.
Angela made my day. The best customer service that I have received in a very long time.
The things here are very expensive and the quality of the products is not high. However, if you really want UChicago written clothes or school things you can buy from here, otherwise it will be waste of your money to shop here.
Love my Starbucks Crew!As a UofC employee I like coming here - it reminds me of my graduate school days and mindless banter
A little pricey but really good fun looking at the huge inventory
Excellent collection of college related items.
Wonderful service and many choices for students and alumni.
Nice layout but still had lots of warm weather clothes out for purchase.
Vibrant college scene, didnt see any books on Moors though
A good place to get food and coffee while on campus!
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Patient and kind staff
Ive really liked the UC stuff they had, bought some. But many prices were quiet high.
Nice assortment of gift items, great service!
Hadnt been here in a while. Just a tourist trap now. Go to Seminary Co-op on Woodlawn and 57th instead.
This bookstore is useless. I have tried to purchase the same book since April. I have returned 3 separate times and every single time an employee takes down my information, then says we will call you when it arrives and never does. It is listed online as in stock. I would rather not come here and waste my time, but my benefits dont allow me to purchase anywhere outside of the school.
Great bookstore with lots of good books about history and selected topics in the humanities.
It has books and clothes and everything you would think is in a university bookstore, at a too-high price youd expect. Its attached to a Starbucks, so thats useful.
Nice UChicago store with food, Starbucks coffee and UChicago goodies.
Ok bookstore. a bit expensive
Great place, and the staff were very helpful
They have great books for kids too
Excelent but too pricey
Speedy talkative staff very helpful
Great Book Store..👍
Great selection but high prices
Awesome place. One of the best universities
The only one-stop-shop for University of Chicago swag.
Has over price books.
Nice atmosphere - a bit pricey though for an on-campus coffee.Sometimes insanely long waiting times up to 30 minutes.
I got a 3/4 filled mocha from the Starbucks. No bueno
The cafe at a book store is very nice, especially in the summer.
