I love everything about Perkolator. Great coffee, great food, excellent COVID precautions. I will be forever grateful for their coffee bean subscription delivery - it pretty much saved my sanity during the pandemic with a newborn.
Always wonderful service, great neighborhood place for a quick pick-me-up
Great neighborhood spot. only open 8 to 1 daily
The Real Deal. I have been coming here for a long time and this place seems like itβs only getting better... Coffee is always on point. Sandwiches are delicious and look amazing. Now they have many different types of bagels, muffins and more.. great place.
There are few constants in this world. Death, Taxes, and amazing tasting coffee from Perkolator.I first tried a cup of Perkolator at a local farmers market. And thought it was fantastic. Ive been having Perkolator coffee delivered to my house ever since. Their Electric Perk Espresso Blend is my favorite, but I also love getting their Origin Select blends that let me taste styles from all over the world. And during the summer, I switch it up to their Cold Brew which is so good, I drink it way too fast.Support local and drink great coffee. Shop Perkolator.
Great owners. Clean and accommodating with great staff. Support local at all times
Best Asiago bagel around. So many options for breakfast food, tea and coffee flavors. Friendly service but may have to wait a bit for your order - theyβre quite popular and busy.
Cool little place with decent coffee and food
Their Iced Chai Latte and Chicken Salad Croissant Sandwich are great! I definitely recommend those if you visit this place.
We are spectacularly lucky to have one of the best neighborhood coffee shops anywhere. Great coffee, terrific sandwiches made with fresh ingredients, wonderful pastries and an incredible crew that knows their customers. The owners have gone to great lengths to make sure that their staff and customers are safe. They have online subscription for their great coffee, tea and a wide variety of items. There is daily delivery for their coffee and tasty food. Plus they have a walk-up window for easy pickup! You can even pre-order on the odeko app and have everything ready to go when you arrive! And, when gather together safely it will be joy to reconnect in their superbly cozy space.
Great coffee, delicious sandwiches aaaand even purchased some vinyl records. Great place to visit!
Great coffee, and the breakfast sandwich was good. Very nice staff.
Great drinks and ambience! I felt as if I was actually home!π
Definitely a new favorite! We started trying out local shops when the pandemic hit and perkolator is one spot weβve had more than once because itβs that good! The breakfast burrito is so good and our kids love all the baked goods. The Cafe con Leche is to die for and customer service is beyond amazing.
Really love to support this local business. Staff is patient, friendly, and the food/drinks are prepared fresh and to perfection.
Amazing coffee and super friendly staff ππ
This is one of my favorite places in the city. I love the coffee shop and often take time to browse the attached record and book store (Sputnik Records). I love that Perkolator has alternative milks for drinks, they create awesome seasonal drink specials, and their menu is delicious. My favorite? The jalapeno popper bagel! The owners are seriously, the nicest (and super hard working). We love catching Perkolator at our local farmers markets too!
Great food and great people at perkolator
A great place to get coffee. They also have a kitchen and serve hot food.
Perkolator is my community hub. It feels a little bit like I imagine going into Cheers would. On every visit I run into community members, fellow business owners, and elected officials. I love the vibrancy and livelihood of this coffee shop. When they added the bookstore and record shop, it gave me more space to hide out and hang out. Even now Perkolator is my special treat. I make a weekly trip for the gluten-free chocolate brownies and love their alternative milk selection as someone with dietary considerations.Joe and Melissaβs commitment to the neighborhood is abundant and ceaseless. Portage Park would be nothing without them. Weβre lucky to have them.
Great space, bright, comfortable and full of character. The coffee is the best around - flavorful and fresh. We love to purchase a pound or two to make at home. The only thing I had a problem with was the Mediterranean veggie wrap I got to go. I attempted to eat it about five minutes after purchasing it. They must not have drained the Greek salad mix because liquid literally poured out of it. It was unbelievable. I squeezed it out and was able to eat the first half. It was good but the second half was too wet and mushy to eat.The side of blue cheese coleslaw was ridiculously good. It was perfect, the ratio of ingredients and seasoning made a delicious and unique coleslaw. My partner had the egg & cheese sandwich with ham and said it was excellent. The service was friendly and efficient. Try this place out, you wont regret it.
Better than all the rest.
A gem in the neighborhood, the Northwest side and Chicago as a whole. The owners are wonderful people who are vested in the area and run a great business. The food and coffee are awesome too!
I cant say enough about Perkolator. Their food and drinks are outstanding, and their service is even better. Theyre much more than a coffee shop; they are a pillar of the community.
Friendly staff, great coffee! Also have advance pick up and depending on days, delivery.
The place is just so so. Could definitely use a modern espresso machine, instead of a rebuilt one; from 1992
Great coffee,inhouse roasting..yummy!!
Favorite coffee shop in the neighborhood, great service, custom Metropolis roasts. Must visit.
My favorite local coffee house of all! Fresh, flavorful menu (oh, that breakfast burrito π), great coffee, and helpful staff. Seating areas surrounded by art, memorabilia, books, and records...this place has it all! A true neighbor hood gem. My only negative is a noisy pinball machine that was recently added.βΉοΈ Please make this go away!
Always great. Breakfast burrito and JalapeΓ±o Popper (breakfast sandwich) are awesome.
Cute shop. Wonderful food and coffee!
Great coffee house! A wide variety of alternative milks such as oat, hemp, almond, macadamia and soy. Nice selection of in-house prepared foods for both breakfast and lunch. Also pastries and other snacks. Friendly atmosphere with a play area for kids and eclectic decor. Have been there several times and have always enjoyed the coffee and lattes.
Really awesome and friendly staff. Lots of yummy hot, iced and frozen coffee items and tea selections. Few baked goods like muffins, donuts, cookies and scones. Breakfast and lunch selection are really fresh tasting and filling. They have a few local made craft items like espresso soap, coffee candles, local art and posters, roasted coffee, ornaments, and jewelry for sale. Cute little kid section and an adjacent used book store. If you havent gone and you love in the area, I suggest you do!
Nice little gem. Their food is delicious, well worth the price. The Italian soda is also very good and something you donβt find everywhere. The seating area looks small but itβs more than enough space for a little cafe, wasnβt too crowded when I went. The store they have has a good variety of CDs, records, tapes, books, and comics but most of those things are priced very high.
Service was extremely slow and it wasnβt even crowded. My son waited 40 min for his grilled cheese. The lady making our food kept stopping to talk to fellow employee ( not on duty) and kept checking her cell phone. I understand if she was busy but this wasnβt the case. That being said, my son loved his grilled cheese sandwich. My coconut mocha coffee and bagel with veggie cream cheese was delicious.
One of my favorite places to do my homework. The staff is very personable and friendly! Lots of great drinks and delicious food! Vegan friendly shop!
On a cold and damp November day we wandered in and were delighted by the friendly atmosphere and then followed fast service of good food despite the cafe being busy. We returned each day of our stay - enough said
Cool place. Nice atmosphere with a used record store as part of its theme. Different than your average coffee joint. Thats why I like it. Food, service and coffee not bad either. Definitely worth going to.
I usually go to starbucks to for coffee and to study, but looks like I found a new place today! Its cute and better to give my business to a small community coffee shop. A lot of options to choose from with reasonable prices. Its cute too
The Perkolator is a great local place! They serve quality food and drink, and are often adding fun new twists to their standard menu. There is a charming sitting area, though they are often busy with students and meetings, so you may have to sit in the bookstore area. All in all, I recommend this as a fun place.
Overall great place, but even better for a date
Finally went to check out this quaint little coffee shop by the recommendations of family and friends.I am really glad I did. The atmosphere is perfect. Cozy and warm. With the option to peruse vinyl, books and even CDs/tapes. Prices are fair. It can get a bit busy at certain times during the day which can make finding a seat a bit difficult but other than that a great place. Hoping to meet the owner sometime. Will definitely be returning on a regular basis. Shop local!
Love this local coffeehouse. I used to live in the neighborhood. But moved recently. However, any chance I get when I am back in the city, I stop in. Top notch coffee amd people. Highly recommend!
Had lunch and was delicious. The used book store attached is great as well. Very fun vibe.
I love this coffee shop. Very helpful staff. Great friendly customer service. They have good coffee for a great price. It beats any of those other places. This is a must try place. A hidden gem in Portage Park.
Super nice, energetic owner. Looseleaf tea! Kitschy, laid back. Donuts from Something Sweet bakery! Family friendly. Cool 70s,80s decor. Books, records for sale. Loved it!!
Down to earth atmosphere with friendly, helpful staff! Great donuts too :) MANY different alternatives to milk (like almost too many?) so its definitely vegan friendly for drinks, at least. I was able to find parking right out front, though it is metered so dont forget about that.
Pretty great place to chill out and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea! I love the food too. People that work there are amazing and very nice. Love that they have macadamia milk - never seen it before. I live 10 min walking distance and so I love to have a nice walk there, have a cup of coffee and read my fav book. Recommend it highly. Thanks guys :)
Great food, great service, super froendly!
I hate leaving a negative review but im doing so in the hopes you guys can improve. I ordered a white chocolate gingerbread mocha after seeing your post. It looked and tasted so different than the description, I thought I got the wrong drink. You kindly remade it but the second one was no different. It tasted like a watered-down, unsweetened latte. Not a hint of white chocolate, cinnamon syrup, ginger, or whipped cream. Not to mention lukewarm and not full. I did not end up drinking it. Feeling very misled by your advertisement.
I really liked this place from the moment I walked in. It had a really unique yet consistent atmosphere that I enjoyed. It was a hip indie spot and the aesthetics reflected that. The staff also seemed like very interesting people and were very pleasant as well. The menu has a wide range of options, and even if a lot of them are things youd typically see at other coffee shops (but trust me, theres a lot of unique things to try), everything is named sort of uniquely as well. I am a big fan of attention to detail like that. The drink I ordered was absolutely delicious as well. It was a cold matcha latte, and I would totally recommend it.Even still, while I was waiting on my drink, the adjoining room had a huge collection of classic records to browse. Caffeine and music is like 50% of my genetic makeup as it is so obviously Im gonna be a fan of this place. I dont know if the records were for sale or not but it was still cool looking around.Great place, Ill be back.
Friendly staff, great local place with great drinks!
Such a good coffee shop- from Polish grandmothers to high school students to working men to stylish hipsters- its one of the few true neighborhood coffee shops. Not to mention great coffee, tasty pastries, and very good sandwiches (that chicken salad croissant- yum!). There is also a book and record shop attached. Its a hidden gem in Portage Park.
Just found this place. Will definitely be back. I got the hummus/Med wrap on a French roll instead of a wrap and it is so clutch. Sooo good. Good coffee too- they brew metropolis on drip. Definitely recommend.
Cute independent neighborhood coffee shop. Great tasting coffee with good selection of drink styles to choose from. Decent selection of baked goods too. Friendly service and good ambience. They even have a small assortment of toys for kids and advertise that breastfeeding is welcomed.
This place is AWESOME. All of the vibe of a similar coffee shop in, say, Wicker Park or the now-trending Logan Square, without the hipster pretense. The drinks are amazing, the food is well worth the slightly upscale pricing, the staff (owners included) are fun and friendly, and the regular customers are really nice. Theres an enormous bench thing on the corner which is perfect for those customers wishing to enjoy their coffee outdoors, but I like to sit inside. If youve passed this place and wondered, wonder no more and just check it out. Youll be glad you did.
My favorite neighborhood go to for a fresh light roast drip and breakfast sandwich, burrito, or yummy dessert (lookin at you hopscotch bar).
Decor was fun and interesting. Drink was disappointing after the barista recommended it. The space seems good for hanging out but not great for working, which was what I was looking for. The seating was strange and had few outlets. When I worked in the βloungeβ/bookstore/record store portion of the business (which I loved!) it seemed like staff kept finding excuses to come keep an eye on me? Maybe just my perception but I felt unwelcome. Sadly I wonβt be back even though itβs the closest coffee shop to where I live.
I dont like coffee very much but the iced coffee I drank there was very good. The place felt very cozy and I love that it wasnt just a coffee shop but a place where you could buy things from vinyls and cassettes tapes to comic books. They also have a little manga selection and I was able to find 6 volumes of a series Ive been meaning to get for a good price! I felt the prices for things were fair so Ill definitely come back. It was fun to see what this place was after passing by it so many times.
Good place, they have great breakfast and coffee. But 20 min wait for two sandwiches, doesnβt make me want to back
The gold standard in portage park. Family owned. Thoughtful staff. Quality drinks. I would also add that this spot is family friendly. The egg veggie burrito has quite the flavor indeed.
Love going here. I dont live in the area, about 14miles away so its a treat to come here for coffee, lunch, and checking out the books and records. Great atmosphere, parking can be tricky.
Great coffee, and excellent sandwiches. Had the jalapeno poppers bagel, so good!
I love this place with friendly staff, good coffee, great music and record and book selections. Its a wonderful neighborhood coffee shop - just the kind we should have more of. Now, go visit π
Great neighborhood coffee shop. Also serving tea and food though. I randomly come here just to kick it. The carrot cake is dope, and I also like their bagels with homemade jalepeno cream cheese.
A hip and happening cafe in Albany Park? Look no further. Percolator delivers with a cool and laid back atmosphere, friendly staff, and good food!
I love this coffee shop! I take all my friends here for coffee, lunch, and to hang out with a board game or peruse the record shop next door (but connected from inside the coffee shop). Come here if you wanna try an awesome peanut butter cup latte!
Great local coffee shop! Coffee and food is Great! Always friendly service. While here, dont forget to check out the lounge with records and books
Cute. Trying to be kitschy but just looks old. Went there for an iced Cappuccino and they didnt have any.Really?? Shouldnt a coffee house offer coffee??
Amazing place, and amazing coffee. One of my favorite coffee shops in Chicago hands down.
Excellent neighborhood coffee shop attached to a genre-theme used book and album store. Dozenish tables and a few easy chairs, plus a short bar. Free wifi with password you ask for. A few outlets. Hardwood floors. Nice selection of loose leaf teas, pastries, and breakfast foods.
Breakfast sandwiches are great. Coffee is good. Enjoyed the style a lot. Good seating options. Friendly service. Recommend the peppers and egg sandwich.
First time visit, great staff, delicious food, great coffee. Starbucks who????? My new favorite coffee fix.
Good
Fabulous
Great place! Chill vibe. Excellent chai latte
I absolutely love this place! The staff is great and the coffee is delicious! I really love the toy area also. Its a win, win... Mom gets coffee in peace and toddler plays with the best kind of toys (toys that arent his) π
The atmosphere of Perkolator is collectic in a delightful way without the clutter. There are several little sitting areas for couples to sit and chat. I tried their western burrito and it was fulling and tasty. However, their chia-nder tasted like standard cider. I do recommend trying Perkolator, if you are in the area.
Love this place. Great coffee, great food, awesome staff! Your life is not complete until youve had a breakfast burrito from Perk.
What a find. Best cappuccino Ive ever had and the atmosphere is warm and nostalgic. Nice food selections as well. Lovely.
I love this bright little coffee shop. The decor is quirky- different tables and chairs..while being a comfortable place to have coffee with a friend. The owner is super nice and helpful.. coffee was excellent. Its nice to have a place like this nearby- I hope it does well.
I had the Cubanski and love it. Great concept. Just took local ingredients from polish delis to put together a Cuban sandwich. Their coffee is good. Nice relaxing coffee shop in the area.
Its was amazing and its cheaper than Starbucks plus they have free board games to play while you wait
The staff is always friendly and recognizes repeat customers. They have a great selection of both food and drinks, and for those who enjoys coffee, they have a manual espresso machine. If you have the time, check out the connected book and music store, Sputnik.
Great food, lots of good coffee variety, and I love the decor and the vibe. Great place to drop by to either do some work, or just hang out and have a good conversation.
Came here on a Sunday afternoon with my wife. We loved everything about this coffee shop. The cappuccino, Capri sandwich and muffins we had were awesome. The atmosphere with the quirky furniture and the bristas are the way a great coffee shop should be. Will definitely be back.
Everything Ive gotten here tastes great.... But for as expensive as it is, yall should really not be stingy with the cream cheese.......... . And spread it on both sides............
