Been going here for coffee and pastries for months, and at this point I think Ive cycled through all of their pastry and latte options. While the flavors, decorations, and techniques change from menu item to menu item, everything Ive ordered has been unique, fresh, and delicious. Val, Alex, Leila, and the rest of the Loba crew make each visit memorable and friendly - theres no better neighborhood coffee shop and us in Roscoe Village are lucky to have them. When youre in the area, be sure to stop by and get one of their flavored lattes and pastries - you wont be disappointed!
Fantastic coffee and some of the most unique pastries in Chicago. I come here way too often. Val and her team are amazing! Love this place and it’s very different vibe. Just a few steps away from the brown line el stop at Roscoe.
Really good seasonal lattes and some of the best pastries I’ve ever had. And the workers are so nice! New favorite place
I waltzed in and ordered an iced mocha latte without really reading the menu, because that’s my tradition for trying a new coffee place. The barista was confused and I realized it wasn’t on the menu, so I just asked if they had chocolate syrup and he explained they only have the syrup for their four specialty drinks (it looked like they make the syrup themselves but I’m not sure). He was happy to recommend the speciality latte most similar to what I had asked for and though it was a little spicy it was really good! This place is definitely different than other Chicago coffee shops but it’s a nice place with patient staff.
I had a flat white and it was absolutely delicious. I was very close to getting a pastry, but held back on this visit. I will have to return to try them!
We were only able to sample their pastries, which were excellent. We also tried the sesame brioche loaf. Will have to come back for savories and coffee!
Friendly service and great coffee and pastries! The Sesame Emmy was possible the best treat Ive ever gotten from a coffee shop. Treat yourself to one of their unique seasonal latte flavors.
Finding coffee shops that do both coffee and pastries well is actually quite rare. Loba Pastry and Coffee does a great job at both. I ordered the Sesame Roll pastry and a Cortado. The Sesame Roll was a light puff pastry swirl filled with poppy seeds and honey with a dash of sesame seeds and it was delicious. It brought back memories of my grandmas poppy seed rolls but was so much better with the honey! For me a barista that can deliver a Cortado that makes me pause as I take that first sip to enjoy the favors is given special notice and this one did. Rich and creamy while able to bring the coffee flavor was what I registered. I will be going back to this hidden gem to find out the coffee supplier and sample the other pastry options. Five stars is justified but I wanted to sit and enjoy my tresures but had to take and go. I hope you enjoy.
Best kouign amanns in chicago!! Purchased 2 in the holiday season and my family still talks about how amazing they were!!! Just writing this review now because I realize I need a birthday dessert and plan to come here for it!!!
Been coming here for nearly 2 years and each experience is wonderful. The food is uniquely delicious, the coffee is perfection, and the staff are just as warm and inviting! Please be respectful of their COVID precautions and order online ahead of time. Support local!
Loba has always had the best pastries. And I have been loving their pineapple sourdough muffins during quarantine! They are beyond delicious! I’m not vegan, but these vegan pastries are life changing! Also, huge fan of their cold brew.I hadn’t ordered anything from Loba ahead of time, But decided to try out their take-n-bake kouign-amann for Christmas morning, and OMG my family and I were IN LOVE with the Ham & Gruyere kouign-amann! I will need to reorder this again next year!! 100% recommend!
I love this place, but it is a bit pricey. Also, their large coffee is small in comparison to other places and the iced coffee is even less. But, with all of that being said theyre very nice people and they make tasty coffee. :)
Fantastic independent bakery with great coffee options and friendly service. The pineapple muffin and the wolf spice latte are among my favorites, definately would recommend trying them!
Loba has some of the best drinks and pastries I’ve ever had. I’ve never had anything but the absolute highest quality pastries and caffeinated drinks here. The Matcha Lattes are the best I’ve had, they do a Kyoto style cold brew which is delicious, and always has a great selection of teas.Recently I’ve loved the giardinera focaccia, sourdough muffins, and of course Kouign Amanns. Really everything I’ve had here has been dynamite!Great place to pick up breakfast day to day, or pick up something for a special occasion. Online ordering is quick and easy. Locally owned small business.
You cant beat the wonderful pastries, coffee beverages or the service (with a smile) at Loba. I highly recommend!
Get the molé croissant on Sundays!
Delicious! Must haves: sesame emmie and pineapple sourdough muffins. Violet latte was super indulgent and tasty. Staff was super helpful and friendly even during a global pandemic.
Love this little coffee shop next to the Paulina brown line stop. Innovative lattes that are tasty and the pastries are so good too. Definitely worth a stop in. A little small so seating can be tough.
Totally amazing pastries and baked goods that change daily, with some gluten free options. Single origin espresso was very tasty as was the cold brew. Consistently good each time Ive been.
Been around the block of various Chicago neighborhoods to find European-level bakeries, and Loba comes as one of the closest.
Make sure to order ahead online! Unique flavors and quick service!
The pastries are incredible, and the service is top notch. The owner is one of the most talented pastry chefs around, her flavor combinations are jaw dropping and mouth watering. If you want to support a hard working and independent woman while still getting a quality product, go to Loba.
Pastries are great. Patio is cute. If this place had a restroom, I’d work remote here all the time. They don’t sadly. But I still love to pop in on a Saturday for a danish or a glazed Robbie.
Tried the pineapple muffin & P&J slice, best baked treats I’ve had in a long long time. So nice to find somewhere that doesn’t over sweeten their sweet treats. Very impressed.
Best muffin I’ve had in my life, and it was vegan. I really like this place but their hours don’t work for me. I would come by a lot more if they were open past 3PM!
Good coffee, and the pastries looked good but I did not try. However theres no public restroom, which is unreasonable if youre allowing for 6-ish people to comfortably stay at a time. To me, its not worth coming back to if you want to work on your laptop.Later Edit: came back to try the pastries and baked good, which are definitely worth coming back for!
So I went today and was very excited. Igot the pinapple muffin and a violet iced latte. I ordered ahead online. I waited 15minutes outside in the heat thinking they were just taking extra time tomake it... finally Iasked and the woman said you have to tell us your here. Not sure how I am supposed to know that? I was waiting in the doorway and nobody said anything. Obviously I was waiting for something fromLoba I was in the doorway. Then she gives me the wrong latte. I said thats not what I ordered. So she says well this is an Iced Spring latte with oatmilk do you want this instead? I said no Id like what I ordered.. and she asked me if I wanted a refund. She ended up makimg what I wanted but the whole thing made me not want to go back. I left frusterated -just remake what I ordered please!! I may try it again. Not sure its worth the trouble though. But the muffin was great
Hands down one of my favorite coffee and pastry shops in the city! Love Loba and love Val!
Conveniently found this place on the map as it was on the way to my destination. However, really like this place for its minimalist feel and good coffee. Had a sourdough muffin and did not regret it. Loved it! Would definitely recommend for a morning stop.
Minimalist coffeehouse that is shockingly quiet. Awesome rotation of pastries and the Wolfspice latte was a sweet treat at a good temp, perhaps a little cool for other coffee drinkers I know.
The best cold brew coffee Ive ever had. And the cherry danish was also amazing. It has ruined all other danishes for me.
What a cute coffee shop! I went a little out of my way to visit Loba Pastry and Coffee today and I’m glad I did. The inside is pretty small with limited seating, so maybe not the best for groups. Cute, hip art inside the shop with a small but excellent menu of drinks. I got their Kyoto cold brew and it was REALLY good. I can be kind of picky about cold brews and iced coffee in general, but Loba Pastry definitely makes a good one. The barista was very friendly too! I only wish they had outdoor seating!
Very unique pastry shop thats different than the other millions in a good way. They serve MADCAP coffee and their pastries are not too sweet, creative inventive and non standard. Love the vibe.
Loba is one of my favorite coffee shops in Chicago. Serving delicious coffee and brilliantly crafted pastries. Her lattes (flavors) are also culinary inspired. Awesome unique things happening here.
Great coffee and pastries, definitely one of Lakeviews more hidden gems. The seating is pretty limited, but its worth stopping by if youre in the area. Make sure to plan on going early, since they close at 3 on weekdays.
It looked nice enough but there is one big table and it was occupied by a group when I stopped by so I left.
A few interesting brews and fresh pastries but dont come looking for breakfast or a comfortable place to hang out. It is pretty sterile and cold. Just really a quick spot for Brown line commuters.
Honestly, I never bother to leave reviews, but the pineapple sourdough muffin I bought this morning was the best muffin I’ve ever had. I stumbled on this place after an appointment nearby and will absolutely be coming back.
The lattes are delectable with house made flavorings. Try a sourdough muffin. The little gluten free round pastry have a nice texture.
Great atmosphere, friendly owner who is very knowledgeable about her coffee. WiFi available but also great spot to relax and read a book. Chill and a great change of pace to other coffee stores in the area.
I love this place! Best pastries in Chicago. Love the staff, super friendly. Love the wolf spice latte. 10x better than a PSL.The only complaint is that the lattes or steamed milk is only a smidge hotter than luke warm. I dunno if it’s the machine, but it is the only thing wrong. But the pastries make up for it!!!
Coffee is great, pastries are better! Really cool place :3
Intimate but well designed space with outstanding pastries and espresso drinks. Extremely hospitable service.
Best small coffee shop in Roscoe village! Serves Madcap coffee with amazing pastries made in house (theres at least one gluten free option each day), great espresso and matcha drinks, and an incredible cold brew!
Little pricey but delicious and worth treating yourself
Any place that carries Madcap gets five stars in my book. Beautifully designed and yummy muffins as well.
Fav bakery, weird and clever pastries, and really nice staff. Yay. Highly recommended
Vals pastries are A+ and the coffee is great too. Chill music and a calm atmosphere inside.
...another visit to Loba for a treat this AM, and Val & Co. did not dissapoint! The Black Sesame Seed Roll aired very nicely w the Kyoto. Please never stop. Exquisite!!!!!!
Correct your hours on google. Just showed up on a Saturday and it was closed at 3pm.
My first time there, I was surprised by the emptiness--only one customer, the barista hidden in the back and a tiny pastry selection. When asking for a suggestion for coffee, the barista responded with So, our menu is pretty straight forward and pointed to it. When I ordered a coffee, she said they were out and would have to make a batch without apology (not a huge deal to wait but no coffee made at a coffee shop?) It was good but nothing special.
Fantastic pastries, phenomenal coffee, great tea, friendly, helpful staff cant say enough good things about this place!
Loba Pastry hath done me dirty today. Its a small, cold, room with not great seating options if youre going to a coffee shop to work. I got the drip coffee and they offered no refills (even Starbucks offers drip refills, quit playin) and the coffee was just meh. The robbie pastry I had also was pretty terrible, and this places pastries are HYPED so I guess my expectations were too high. Theres no bathroom for customers and a twee hipster vibe with really loud, basic indie music. I thought Id try a new coffee place close to my apartment but this was so not worth it. Im taking my talents to Two Hearted Queen from now on.
Lovely place with delicious pastries and nice staff. Wish they had a little more seating!
Great place! Great coffee, great pastries! Awesome owner! 😊😊
The coffee was very good. 3$for 12oz made it pretty expensive. Still worth the money. Pastry selection very limited (at noon).
Iced Scorpion Mocha. Its the best. Great espresso (Sightglass from S.F.), good chocolate from Europe, and just a touch of Scorpion pepper to open ones taste buds and make the other flavors stand out. Not a drink to gulp -- sip and savor.Another amaze-o thing: Cajeta Caneles -- they have a goat cheese caramel in them. Its dark and rich, not too sweet, not messy, and combines with the crispy/crunchy darkly-baked exterior to be a perfect complement to the Scorpion Mocha. They arent always available, but when they are, get one.
Outstanding coffee, must try the French pastry with gruyere and ham... Out of this world!
Just popped in here for the first time. Fantastic Expresso, amazing scones and the owner is a sweetie.
Great coffee, unique pastries and friendly owner and staff.
Really chill coffee shop low key and good place to focus.
Vals always serving up unique and delicious from-scratch pastries at a modest price, coupled with really good coffee and tea. Stop in and see whats shes made today!
Pasteries and coffee are excellent. Owner and employees are friendly.
Great coffee, fennel twists and black sesame buns.
Very cozy introverted environment, compared to Starbucks 👍
Great pastry selection and tasty coffee
Amazing coffee and even better pastries!
The best coffee shop in Chicago with amazing pastries!
Chill coffee spot with baristas that REALLY know what theyre doing and talking about.
Friendly, knowledgeable and always delicious :)
Their beet sourdough is awesome.
Coffee was OK. No restroom and limited seating was a bummer
This is where i learned to like coffee
I have no words... I mean, these are words, but you know what I mean! ☕🍵☕🍵☕🍵
The absolute best coffee and pastries in the city, and everyone is very friendly, especially the owner.
Get a tumeirc scone if they are available.
Nice spot with friendly staff but the coffee is mediocre.
Pastry is yummy
Chill spot but the lemon scones were aaaaahhhhhmmmazing!
Excellent coffee (from a coffee snob) and unbelievable pastries
Great vibe, people...
Great coffee, amazing pastries
Great pastries and coffee
THE BEST!!!!!
Best pastries in the city of Chicago!!
