This place is great! I’ve lived in Chicago for a long time and never stopped by until today. I only needed one relatively low-cost costume item and the woman waiting on me was really helpful. Even though the store was very busy for Halloween she walked with me around the store, helping me look for what I wanted. She even called the other location to double check. I’m a happy customer and I’ll be back!

Really bad. Ordered an item that was ‘in stock’ on their website. Received a voicemail that the item was ‘out of stock’ and I should contact them for a replacement or refund. Called and spoke with a person who was able to locate a similar item & I agreed to the replacement. Not only was the item never received (Christmas present for a child) we received an email that the order was cancelled. No refund has yet to been received. Will update post accordingly with outcome.

Shopping the store is fine. I bought something at 10:30 am Friday. At 11am I got an email for 25% off 1 item Friday - Monday. But, I guess the system can give no money back? No returns is one thing, but no ability for adjustments seems odd. I think Im going to get off this mailing list, this email made me sad.

The best place for halloween

Courtland and his staff are super friendly. The selection is the best in the Midwest. Prices are very reasonable. We are repeat customers. The rental costume quality has always been high. We keep going back. No reason to even try someplace else.

This place has a huge selection of costumes but they are on the pricey side. Also the basement smelled not terrible but loke it need a deodorizer. They was very helpful!

So much fun to look at all of the costumes! We went looking for a 20s costume forcmy husband and Charles was a huge help! We bought one, but rental prices seemed reasonable

Great little costume shop in the city with a selection that transcends the size of the space. Helpful and knowledge staff to help point the way and help you iron out any kinks in your plan. There are cheaper places to pick up boiler plate costumes like the pop up stores you get around Halloween, but with the prices at those places going up its just worth a trip to someplace like this to get that something extra to set your costume apart.

Great find. Great costume selection. Hard to park sometimes but you cant have it all in Chicago. This should be your #1 first costume stop.

Nice selection of masks and professional stage makeup, its great to have a year-round costume supply store. They have a ton of stuff despite the small size of the store! Staff has always been friendly and helpful.

Great costume store for Sales and rentals. Huge rental department for Theatrical grade costumes in the basement. They expand to 8-10 stores for September-November for the Halloween season. Great place to pick up a last minute product for theater or costume party. Large selection of masks and wigs. Owner can be mildly imposing or overbearing.

I would give them ZERO stars if I could, customer service is a joke!!! I bought a ten dollar hat and had spent 25 dollars to ship it overnight, but due to weather it was delayed. I didnt get my hat on time for the wedding (I was supposed to be in the wedding party and wear this hat). I called the shipping agency to have the address changed, but Chicago Costumes blocked me from being able to do it. The shipping agency charges $20 to intercept the package which I was more than happy to pay for. I called Chicago Costumes customer service and they told me that the weather was not their fault and it was against their policies to change the address after the order has been processed. Considering my circumstances (this wasnt for Halloween or a party or a performance, it was for a WEDDING) if they would help me intercept the package because it was scheduled to be delivered after my flight left, they refused to help me in any way- at ZERO cost to them! I dont call that customer service!! I dont care about a policy if I am willing to incur the monetary burden. Plus, it was for a wedding, really?? They couldnt make any exceptions?? Considering this was no ones fault I figured theyd be more willing to help, but instead they kept telling me no. I will not be buying from this store again!! So I spent double of what the hat costs to have it shipped NOT ON TIME, I asked if they would pay for return shipping and they refused so its not even worth trying to get my 10 bucks back because I would have to pay about $35-40 total to ship it both ways. WHAT A WASTE!!!

Ive been going to Chicago Costume for almost a year now for a VERY costume-heavy show that I produce, and they havenever let me down. Either they have amazing costumes in stock, or they will work with me to build things piece by piece.Aside from the helpful crew in rentals, the retail gang upstairs has always been there in a pinch when Ive needed them, helping me find the right tone of Ben Nye makeup to play Ursula or helping find any of their various wigs and makeups.If you need to get stumed up in Chicago, there is no better option than Chicago Costume.

I wish I could dress up everyday, because then I could have dealings w/ Chicago Costume on a regular basis. They were easy to communicate with when I had a special request/question. I LOVE my mask! It was elegant and actually very comfortable - I was in my mask longer than other everone else at the party. It was well worth the cost, although the shipping was expensive. However, that is not their pricing - its just what it costs to use UPS and expedite shipping. I am so happy w/ my choice to order from Chicago Costume and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a unique and quality product.

For me, shopping for costumes can be stressful, because Im not really into dressing up...but Chicago Costume knows just how to make the experience easier. Ive been shopping here since my days as a student at the DePaul University Campus, and even ended up winning a costume contest once, with their help! Im excited that they now also stock Ugly Christmas Sweaters for holiday party needs.They have always been staffed sufficiently to assist the flow of customers during Halloween and any other time of year. They stay on top of the pop culture trends for costumes each year, and have a warehouse located on Montrose which is also open to the public, but allows them to quickly restock the main store if inventory is running low because of shoppers waiting until the last minute.

LOVE Chicago Costume. If I had a car Id go to the one on Montrose, but this one can get you what you need if they dont have it in stock.

Super friendly staff and wide array of quality costumes/accessories

I like the there-when-you-need-em aspect of Chicago Costume. Im loath to start my costume creation process here though because of the high prices and occasionally low-grade material. For example, I wanted green hair spray for St. Paddys Day. I got two cans, you know, just in case. They both turned out to be faulty. They just drizzled green neon liquid. On the other hand, I bought liquid latex here too and although it was double the price of other shops, it performed just fine. Ill probably be back, but probably out of necessity rather than choice.

This place is great. What I really liked is they have a computer with the internet going. So you can search online and show them what youre trying to get. Or show them the look youre going for. The staff is great too. AND THEY HAVE SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH STUFF! I flat out told them I was trying to do my costume on a budget and they tried to help me find all the cheap stuff.
