Sugar Bliss is quite tasty. are they the best cupcakes?! in terms of quality and going up against all of the other bakeries in Chicago, no. however, I will say they surpass Magnolia! i love the inventive creations and mixes of flavors here. i also like that the edges of the cakes themselves have a bit of a crunch to them, while the insides are moist! the frosting are extremely buttery (which has the tendency to leave a somewhat awkward feeling film on your tongue). a-ok, Sugar Bliss!

This woman owned business is the perfect spot for some unique and delightful sweets like cake pops, cupcakes and brownies. I picked up some beautiful assortments for the staff at my mothers nursing home and they were a huge hit! Great gift boxing and ribbons make it a perfect hostess gift or souvenir (get a gift box of macaroons because they dont need refrigeration or have messy frosting..perfect for travel). If youre staying at the Palmer, its right there. Definitely worth a stop!!

As a big fan of macarons I can tell you that these place has the best I have ever had! They have many unique flavors. It’s definitely worth the try! I’m glad me and my husband found this place, we’ll definitely come back on our next trip to Chicago!

These were catered for a coworkers baby shower and the assortment was great. The standouts were definitely the macarons, the fruity pebbles one and the passion fruit ones were amazing.

Have been getting cupcakes here for years. The quality has been consistently excellent. Not too sweet but still decadent cupcakes. They have also been expanding the same level of excellence to every product and service they offer.

Ive been to well over 30 local cupcake bakeries in many states, and Sugar Bliss is on the top of my favorites. The frosting is something you experience, not just taste. My only complaint is they dont have locations in my hometown! :-)If youre visiting Chicago, it is well worth a 1+ mile walk if you dont happen to be staying or visiting tourist areas nearby.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.i received these cupcakes for valentine’s day yesterday and while they looked adorable, they tasted horrible. every cake i had (i sampled all of them) was overcooked, dry, and even tasted a little stale as if they’d been sitting out for a while before being sold. immediately upon picking the cupcake up, you could feel that it was too dense and see that it was the wrong texture — stiff and crusted at the top from being in the oven too long. none of the cupcakes achieved the most basic moist, fluffy texture that i would expect from a place that specializes in cupcakes...the frosting was nothing to rave about either. most were fine, but the cream cheese on the red velvet was was just off and i couldn’t take more than my initial bite. i’m not sure if the staff was just overwhelmed by valentine’s orders or if this is the norm, but i was truly disappointed by the quality of the cupcakes. either way, this experience was bad enough that i likely won’t go back to find out.

I have been going to this location since 2009. At the time there wasn’t much competition except Toni around the corner which is mow close and Sarah Candies and deserts shop in Macy’s - also now closed. The service was always good and at one point in 2009 or 2010 I had the opportunity to meet the owner of this franchise. She was very pleasant and spoke to me in great detail about her product. So anytime I got the chance to shop in the Downtown area, this was my good to because the service was good, the employees were always very friendly and the cupcakes are fresh and tasted pretty good. My favorite was alway the black and white, peanut butter icing with devils food cake, yellow cake with white icing and dark chocolate icing with devil food cake. The cake portion was always fresh and moist - the icing can be a little sweet but not as much as other cupcakes franchises. My problem is the way they are boxed because I ride public transportation and live at a distance. The boxes are not sturdy enough and the cupcakes tend to shift which leaves the icing everywhere around the box. This why I gave this place a three star because I visited the location today and the cashier seemed cold and distanced; particularly after mentioning the box issue. The last thing I want to DO is spend $17.66 and get home only to see my Cupcakes have fallen apart. So her response was almost like she could careless about my concerns and my prior problems with the box/crumbling falling cupcakes situation. Three stars for past visits but minus the two because the cashier just repeated BAD behaviors by other pasts associates that have been reported earlier by other commenters on this board. APPRECIATE YOUR FORWARD BUT MY CUPCAKES WERE NEVER SWUNG HARD OR TILTED ON PURPOSES SO I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK TO YOUR ESTABLISHMENT AND THANK YOU!! I ordered a cupcake. That one cupcake alone was $4.41 and its like the size of a medium cupcake at Jewel Osco. It also tasted pretty average, it wasnt horrible, but it was just okay. It also wasnt very sweet. Sugar Bliss looks really cool and I really wanted to like it. I dont recommend this place. :(

This bakery will leave you wanting to leave with more stuff than what you originally thought you were coming in to order. Absolutely great place to come in and order desserts for yourself or family and friends.The banana bread pudding is what I had my first time coming in and it was very good. Quality is top notch and will be back.

Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. My wife is gluten-free and we were staying at the Palmer House so we stopped in. She was absolutely thrilled at the offerings they had for gluten-free people. Brownies, cookies, cupcakes and more. The peanut butter chocolate chip cookies are some of the best she has ever had and I honestly could not tell it was gluten free. We will be there often during our stay in Chicago.

Went here for Macaroons for curbside pick up, they had very bad attitudes. Instead of receiving what I ordered I was giving cupcakes and bad part is they were not willing to fix it. First and last time for me it’s a NO. On top of that cupcakes were old and hard.

This was an awful experience. I bought two cupcakes, 1 Chocolate and one vanilla. The chocolate was edible but the rim of the cupcake was super hard. The vanilla was just terrible, it was heavy and dry. Im not sure if it was old or if thats just how the cupcakes are made. I checked the menu and it said that it had pumpkin spice when I get there they said they dont have it at that location. Total waste of money. The one good thing is the service was great! I wont be back tho

I still enjoyed the Chocolate Cake items and Bakery items. It’s processing also fast and simple. Actually the Chocolate cakes are very attractive and its decoration also simple. I would be eating the salted Chocolate cake every day. My Family members and friends also like different types of chocolate cakes such as full chocolate creamy with dry fruits and nuts. I surprise to arrange the Chocolate Cake for my Friend Birthday at most recent year. She‘s really surprised and loved very much enjoyed with this cake.

I’m in love with the delicate piped flowers that Sugar Bliss frosts onto each cupcake, but what keeps me coming back is the kindness I’ve experienced every time I step into the bakery.I highly recommend trying a ginger cookie or using the macaroons as a gift.

Service is very nice. But the crepes are not made at the time of order and can be stale. The fruit is not fresh. I also purchased desserts. One was a Smores brownie and it was definitely made a few days ago. It was stale. The other smaller round s’mores are very good. The large cookies were good. Will never order another crepe here again and do not recommend them if you are a crepe connoisseur. Regular Coffee is very mediocre. The Starbucks next to this establishment is the only place to go for coffee in this 1600+ room Palmer House Hotel. So expect long lines.

I started going here during law school and LOVED IT. The cupcakes were and are amazing and they offer frosting shots! The macaroons used to be amazing but now they are always way too gummy, which is a disappointing. But the ladies working here are super sweet and its a must visit if you have a sweet tooth like me!

I came in this morning for a couple of cupcakes for my co worker’s birthday. The shop was very cute and simple. I like simple. They price points are great.I ordered a Gluten free black and white chocolate cupcake and a Chocolate milk chocolate cupcake and the design was cute and was what seemed to be the signature floral design. The taste was amazing ! Baked well, cupcake flavor was just right and the frosting wasn’t too sweet.The woman was nice and prompt when preping the birthday cupcake. Very nice experience!

Purchased mini cupcakes today that were dry and hard. When I contacted the store I was told that they were baked fresh and I should let them come to room temp. They were purchased at 8am and the 1st cupcake was eaten at noon. Usually this place rocks but I believe that they were left overs from yesterday. The only cupcakes that were dry were their regulars. The daily specials were fine. When I contacted the store I was advised that they were baked fresh this morning and that a daily special that is not normally available was baked off special this morning but the frosting was hard which is not normal.

Overall a good place. I usually get the chocolate cupcakes here and my sister gets the red velvet. The cakes are usually moist and flavorful. However the icing is overtly sweet for me. I do like the different flavors they roll out every month.

Go out of your way for this place! They go out of their way for you...a rare find with great flavors and ridiculous service. Carla and Jasmin are fantastic and something tells me the rest of the team is amazing too.

Really good experience. I ended up in the wrong location after same day ordering and they coordinated to ensure I go to the right location. My order was ready ahead of time and my team loved the cupcakes.

The place is beautiful and the attendants are very nice. I ordered a crepe that turned out to be old and with an off texture, as well as a snicker doodle cookie, which was bland at the most. It’s a shame that the products don’t match the ambiance and attention.

The I had a red velvet cupcake and a bite of my friends cranberry breakfast cupcake, both were on the dry side. I cant say there was anything extraordinary about either one. The frosting was fine, but they should come up with a more creative way of putting it on or in the cupcakes without just glopping it on the top. The cake part seemed like itd been sitting out a while. We got them before 9AM. Costly for the product quality.

I was highly disappointed with all of my macaroons from here. I waited one day to try them and they all were hard and flakey. None of them tasted good. So sad and waste of money. The cake pops were awesome though. I did however love the macaroons from their other store, the cake boutique

Sugar Bliss is the best cupcake place in the city in my opinion. I especially love that they offer mini cupcakes regularly which is great and unlike no other cupcake place. Those minis are perfect bite sized and the quality is really good. They also customize them to events like a St Pattys day cupcake etc. Very nice people working there too!

Sugar Bliss cupcakes are my favorite in the city! They have a variety of flavors but my favorites are their Christmas seasonal flavors, such as Gingerbread and Peppermint. The cake is delicious and light and they dont use an excessive amount of frosting. They also have a miniature size, which is perfect if you want the taste of a cupcake but dont want the traditional size.The price is definitely affordable and theyre also great to order for events!

Extremely rude service on Friday afternoon; one lady explained why there wasnt enough variety while the other lady did not even acknowledge us/greet us, told us at one point that we did not have to buy their product. When I bought a big cupcake for my daughter, she mumbled something incomprehensible about the money I spent there and when I asked her to repeat herself, she walked away from me. I even told her that her behavior was going to give her establishment a bad review, to which she replied, go right ahead.I intended to spend loads here but was thoroughly disappointed with the service.I hope the owner takes notice of their service.

The place is adorable on the inside. The staff was polite and warm but the quality of the product was lacking. I got the red velvet cupcake and was really disappointed. While the frosting was delicious the cake itself was hard and tasteless. Hopefully that was a bad batch bc I’ve made better. 😅

The cupcake trend may be on the downward fall, but I still dont hesitate to stop in Sugar Bliss if Im near Wabash to see what new flavors theyve worked up. The menu changes pretty regularly, and if you stop late it is largely dependent on what happens to be left, but these frosting-heavy cupcakes tend to be tasty, albeit a bit expensive.

Cupcakes all looked the same, just different flavors. Mediocre taste. Cookies were hard (days old??) and over priced. Expected more. Got less.

The price is pretty high for the menu. They have a decent vanilla milk chocolate cupcake but the cake can be quite dry.I would also steer clear of the s’mores brownies. The marshmallow ganash is always a cold taffy like substance that peels off easily in one marshmallow sheet. The brownie/cookie bottom is also lack luster.

Best peanut butter frosting I have ever had. And I design food tours for Chicago, so Ive had a few peanut butter frostings. Their chocolate cupcakes are lighter and melt in your mouth. Plus they have bite size cupcakes for a quick fix.

I wont rant like a 4-year-old, but let me just say-- the manager at this bakery is one of the rudest people on that entire block-- and I have encountered many individuals between Randolph and Washington :) I had a simple question about delivery, so one of the front cashier girls (also not very friendly) went back to get her dragon of a manager to come and chew me out in the front of the store. Here was my situation, to give you clarity:I wanted to do a surprise delivery for a business just the next building over. Spitting distance, if you will. I placed my order and the cashier told me, Oh. Well there is a $17 delivery charge. I was calm as a cucumber, saying Oh well-- then, if that fee cant be taken off, then I wont confirm the order. Thats just too much money for a delivery that is literally right next door. Both girls in the front seemed to agree with me, so to make sure, one of the girls went to get the manager and ask. The manager came out, NO SMILE, and said There is a $17 delivery fee. That is how much it is. I dont send my girls on deliveries. So, no. We wont hand-deliver for you. And went straight back into the back. Not my idea of awesome customer service... Haha.So... BOTTOM LINE: Their stuff isnt cheap, the manager is rude, and there are countless other places to go within a 2-block radius if you have a sweet tooth. But if you dont mind the types of issues that I listed above, by all means-- have at it!(I have had their cupcakes before. I wouldnt say they are THAT great-- but theyre not stale, like some other reviews are saying).

This cupcake place is a waste of time! I have been twice trying to give it another chance.Not only was both my order wrong, the staff was rude and the cupcakes were hard and not what I ordered. The store itself was unkept and gloves were not changed. I heard great things about both shops and I had horrible experience at both! Staff was completely unprofessional. They were too busy on their phones and bashing the owner to help my assistant or myself! It’s completely over priced and not worth your time and money!

I popped in just before closing time (20-25 minutes before) and the staff made me feel uncomfortable. I had narrowed down my choice between two items before I even came in. The two workers just starred at me...they didnt even say hello. I made my decision and went out on the street to eat my cupcake, because it was obvious they didnt want me in there.I got the almond cake with milk chocolate icing. The icing was fluffy and tasty, wi th just the right amount of crushed almonds, but the cake was very dry.

I got an assortment of items for an office meeting. Everyone loved the cake pops. But I found the cupcakes to be dry, after only about 30 minutes traveling to the meeting.

Service was great and friendly. It’s a bit of a strange criticism when you shop at a place with this name but I did find there was a bit too much sugar on the cookies!
