I love Habitat for Humanity thrift shop in Peabody!. They sell everything from furniture to appliances & ceramic tiles to paint & supplies. I always find something I cant live without at this store. I just scored an awesome brushed nickel double plant stand for only $8! I also bought a 92 piece chocolate making kit complete with double boiler for $10! I recently made a bunch of chocolate Frankenstein pretzel rods for a Halloween party which took me about 12 hours. This kit would have cut my time in half! They also have a large selection of new leather products, including butter soft portfolios! Love, love, love Habitat!!!
Great prices. Occasionally they have authentic antique/designer furniture, which are on the pricier side. Referred by a friend here. We were able to get good appliances for our rental unit. Found some blue and white china to add to my collection! Lastly, they have the best prices for various light bulbs.
This is the second ReStore that Ive had the pleasure of visiting in the Chicago area, the other being in Arlington Heights. This location has a larger selection of furniture and styles. Ive noticed that the pricing is also much higher than the other store. With that being said, its still a bargain hunters paradise.
This is the place to go for one-off items. You can find nice, used furniture, appliances, tools, home goods, and home improvement stuff. Be prepared to commit to something that catches your eye. There is no guarantee it will be there next time. The store will hold larger items for a few days for you to pick up. They take donations as well.
Store is disorganized. They are extremely overpriced, for example, they had a radial arm saw marked at $2200 when I found it in ebay for $199 exact same thing. When I questioned the price the manager wouldnt even discuss a price change, claims it sells for $7000. Dont waste your time.
This place is crazy on prices. This does a diservice to the community. They want to benefit to the fullest and beyond. Stop donating and put it up on offer up. Your better off then their cause of overpriced everything to the consumers.
Good store just a hit or miss on what you are looking for. With patience you will find it.
The Restore has beautiful and useful furniture. I always look there first when I need something for our home. The associates are friendly and helpful too.
Great selection of furniture and appliances.Prices have become expensive over the past year but they might have a good sale, possibly.! Great store if you need to furnish your place up!
This place has everything! Sofas, tables, desks, chairs, cabinets, lamps, silverware, you name it. The pieces range from outstanding top-of-the-line quality to affordable diy items. They dont offer delivery service but they have lots of suggestions. Dont let that deter you! The prices make the furniture practically a steal and the customer service is top notch! 👌
Nice pieces of furniture. You can get really good deals.
This is the best place to go to furnish an apartment. They have high quality stuff that is pretty affordable!
They will need soon a bigger place...other then that you can find nice and some are good quality things donate by people with good hearts... little pricey for that kind of store ...
Everything from tools to very high end appliances, kitchen cabinets and beautiful furniture. Lovingly used and with enough life to be loved again.
Some times the prices are to high, and service is good 👍
Very good stuff. I will be back.
Sometimes you are lucky and find various things and sometimes its just not that way, but I chose to make this my 1st choice before checking elsewhere
I just really enjoy shopping at all Habitat restore locations. This is the best one I have been too thus far. They have really nice secondhand items.
Prices are too high for second or third and object, use lawnmower $200 you can have that new for almost same price.
They unload the stuff I was donating. Very helpful.
This used to be a weekly visit for me and I used to spend thousands here service is now poor prices are very expensive I mean very expensive the whole new concept here at this store with the raised prices on used things is just unbelievable I understand when it’s a valuable item it’s expensive but a set of used kids chairs for $120 a piece is just a joke, new it’s 120 I not coming back here again and I recommend people don’t either until they realize this is a used store for every one not just their favorites
Nice employees, a lot if items. Too overpriced not worth it
Habitat for humanity has a very large number of things which can be recycled cabinets, furniture washing machines rugs, building materials. It is a very interesting place and I like the idea of materials being recycled. Oh thats Catalina
Stopped in to see whats the place about. Its clean and organized, a great place to find deals for rehabbing.I suggest getting there early for best selection, as I saw a few things I would have bought with sold tickets on them
Hit or miss depending on what you need, but a good place to check out
This is always a hit-or-miss. Ive always had more hits than misses. Found the z-brick and then later on thin brick to do my entire basement!Excellent location to find individual cabinets as well. Everything in the store is always a good buy!
Great place to go for everything for your home repair or second hand furnishings at a reasonable price. They have furniture, lighting, tile, paint, home & garden, mirrors/wall art, rugs, building supplies and even antiques. You never know what treasures youll come across! Also, the staff is friendly and ready to answer any questions you may have.
Good place for shopping
The stuff was great, fairly decent place to shop.My only issue was that the prices they posted in the items they are selling are a bit unrealistic. Two bar stools in the $500s etc. Most of the store had old couches and tables. That is a thrift store. If anybody needs construction or remodeling materials go the Habitat in Gurnee.
I love shopping at the Re Store because they have many useful items for both inside and outside the home at affordable prices.
A store full of unique treasures and fixtures...at a fair price...think salvation army store for construction people....:) ps. Furniture too
A place to get good deals.
They have quality furniture and everyone is very nice and helpful, you will not leave the store empty handed!! 😉 💯
Overpriced, ridiculous prices. Who is going to pay $800 for a used couch???!!?
Items are a little overpriced and there is no bargaining at all. However right now, they are having old inventory discounted up to 75%. This is a good time to shop there and they have everything.
I love this place good and interesting thing to finger and good deal every one nice skills of work. I bought some furniture and they helped me put in my car love that place cant wait to open up again
Great customer service great selections
Great store and a great cause
A nice clean store to get home repair items at a great price
Pricey and damaged . Not worth it
I have been a long time customer and have shopped there and I love the fact they give money to humanity. Now this was my first visit back since they opened in Illinois from the cornavirus. Me and my fiancee are looking for a dining room table. Well we walked in and seen many tables and ran over with excitement when I was thrown back when I seen there prices. They have raised there prices 3 fold. They had tables that werent worth $30 for $195 and were trying to sell other tables that didnt even have chairs for between $595 to $995. I can go to any reputable furniture store for those prices.as we walked thru the store all there mechandise was crazy stools for $100.each I dont know what happened but there prices are crazy now. What a shock
Terrible service—and this is coming from someone that used to work at a Habitat restore. We went in to buy 3 barstools, but were told we would need to purchase 4, as the stools we selected came in 2 sets of 2 stools (which was just odd). I called over the manager to see if we could come up with a solution to which he said “not possible”, became instantly annoyed and walked away, completely unwilling to assist. I was forced to buy all 4 chairs and “donate back” the last one since they wouldn’t break up the set—and yet, they still ended up with the 4th barstool anyways. The whole situation was completely ridiculous. Management could take a lesson or two from the Columbus, OH restore.
The manager Marcus is extremely rude and lacks the skills to effectively communicate with customers. He needs to be immediately fired. I have experienced his nasty attitude today but have witnessed his interactions with other customers.
Habitat does not pick up from the southside of Chicago. I purchased a set of cabinets from Habitat and never installed the cabinets now I need to get rid of the cabinets. Very interesting how they omit certain areas from their pickup routes
This place is great! A gem for getting pieces for any project you may have. Ive been fortunate in getting what I need from here and saving lots of money in the process. Great to find wonderful little treasures and vintage items as well.
Excellent items to choose from. PHENOMENAL staff.
Really nice stuff. Today they have a big selection on living room sets and coffee tables. They have this wrought iron twin size bed that is for cathedral ceilings. Super awesome. I want it but dont have the ceilings for it.
Very nice and genuine staff... If you are lucky you get what you are looking for.. must visit
Great place to donate almost everything. Easy drop off . All goes to a great cause.
This location was by far organized and clean. They had a nice selection of supplies, furniture and some nice appliances. The prices were comparable. Yet, if you rather be able to go in and get out with what you need paying an extra buck or two is worth it.ProsFriendly and helpful staffClean and Organized storeGood Size parking areaHigh quality appliances and suppliesConsPrice is comparable
A great cause to donate to and fabulous place to shop for used building materials. Having worked with Habitat, I can say it is a nonprofit that really utilizes every penny for their cause. And the process of receiving a home from Habitat is not easy, requires enormous participation which builds pride and changes lives.
Came here for an orientation to start volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and was surprised to find out Restore was actually a store! I dont live anywhere near here so I never imagined it. The staff is great and are really working hard to make a difference. If youre interested in helping volunteer just look up the Habitat for Humanity website for their Chicago efforts and youll be able to sign up and pick an orientation date and time. You can help volunteer in the store or help on construction sites! Looking forward to helping out!
This is the best habitat Ive ever visited. Tons of stock, mostly building materials. Its well organized and inexpensive. Nice staff and easy donation process.
Prices are way too high. These are mainly used items. Some new, but same price as in the store.
Call before you go if you are looking for someone specific. If you just like browsing then no inquiry necessary. They do have things organized which is a big plus
Purchased a beautiful craftsman front door 🚪 for $30 and took off about six coats of paint sanded and stained. Now looks like $1000 bucks. Amazing treasures
Yesterday I Purchased a small Vintage dresser that I have been searching for for at least a year when i finally find it and purchase its sold from under me! Clearly something has to be done about how sold signs are attached to the items so they dont fall off while being stored for pick up!! Super disappointed
Really getting very stingy with the pricing. They look everthing up on the internet and then price used stuff at 75% of retail.Used to be able to get good deals here. Now they are just taking advantage of folks who dont know better!
Hey everybody. Here is my review of Habitat for Humanity. A wonderful charity that does so much good but kind of difficult to make donations. They sent me a gifts in kind link but as my donation was more than $5,000.00 they explained that I would need to obtain an appraisal. A representative did recommend The St. Lucie Appraisal Company who was able to use my list of donated items to prepare the personal property appraisal I needed. They also completed the necessary IRS Form 8283. I highly recommend Habitat for Humanity. Call The St. Lucie Appraisal Company if your donation exceeds $5,000.00.
This is a thrift store, so its always hit or miss. It is a thrift store for home repair.
Definitely a place to pick up a bargain. If you own some rental property its the place to go. Excellent high end rehab kitchens.
A constantly changing mixture of donated building materials, furniture, tools and other various products means that each time you go, youll get a new experience. All for a good cause as well.
A good place to find some nice deals for DIY remodeling. The furniture can be a little pricey for the condition, but weve always gotten good deals on materials and supplies.
Lots of treasures there at reasonable prices for a good cause.
Lots of different appliances furniture and other home goods. Prices range as does quality and cleanliness. Staff sometimes seem annoyed. Good deals at the end of the season.
To over priced
Great place. I like it alot. Good furniture.
Great selection of used furniture, lighting fixtures, bath cabinets and appliances. Helpful, knowledgeable staff. Well organized and good pricing.
Love this place. Always finding something i wasnt looking for but excited to purchase. Good service also
Prices are the same as new items, with no returns, very limited on anything worthwhile
One of my favorite places to stop in and look for donated building materials. This place does not keep continuous stock of certain items. All inventory selection depends on what was donated.I find this location to have better inventory than other similar type of sellers.
Not what I expected. Looks more like a thrift/Junk store. Also looks like they may have better items in other stores that are outside the city. 😐
Nice place to shop
Great place to shop at. If you go at the right time and you manage to get lucky you just might run across an item of interest, at a very reasonable price.
Great place to pick up that random bit of old hardware youve been searching for! Eclectic mix of hardware, plumbing, electrical, furnishings, ... friendly volunteers too.
$40 beautiful couch. This is the go to for all my decoration needs and hardware/lumber. Its so so cheap.
Good place if you own an apartment building and they might have something that you need or a college student thats looking for some temporary furniture
Love me some H4H REHome stores. Been to this one and the one in Elgin a bunch of times. This one is good but the elgin one is awesome.I did find a brand new $1100 Steelcase office chair unused for 12 bucks. So im a pretty happy camper. Prices are way to high on stuff like powertools but guess thats excpected with chicago rents.
One of my favorite places to find household DIY products. Every week is something new and the prices are super inexpensive
I think the hipsters found this place. The prices for items have gone up dramatically in the last 6 months. But still a good place
Very over priced.
Nice place to find a fair deal. They dont just give it away but deals are not bad.
Awesomeness with great prices
Great place, great deals. But you really have to stop by often because the turn over is fast.
If you cant afford it at the big hardware stores come here. Everything you need for your remodeling is just as good but at a fraction of the cost.
Big warehouse and lots of good finds. Just the fact that I am contributing by shopping makes this my first stop.
Great to find that treasure furniture.Excellent price, nice people!
Great place to volunteer. Had fun and bought some stuff on the way.
I love this place! If youre looking to update something in your home this should be your first stop.
Very nice place. I love it.
Great cause. Lots of random stuff. Some good deals. Some items are overpriced.
I voulentered here and it was for a great cause and the people there were so nice!
A great place to volunteer! There are dozens of niches and tasks that fit a variety of interests, and the RS staff is always grateful for the added help.
I bought a marble bathroom vanity top with a porcelain undermount sink for $100 this place has the best deals always
Honestly, I dont know how too many people gaveem 4 stars. To start prices too high. I came from humboldt park and all I can say is, what a waste of time and gas too. Not worth it, I had a different image but now I wake up. The name its a lie, I didnt got to see a board telling how they help communities selling at this prices.
Its a hit or miss. Depending on what your looking for. I like to browse and see what I find.
If you have a small project to do at home or you are a handyman, i suggest to viat this place first before buying the expansive materials you need,
Awesome place👏
