I am so disappointed in the service I have received from this facility in the recent months. I stored my property here because I was initially impressed with the friendliness, responsiveness and cleanliness that was portrayed when looking at the units.However, after the storm hit in June and a row of units were flooded in the basement - I assumed that the renters insurance that they force you to pay for each month would cover the flood damage that occurred from the standing water. Even though they were proactive in proactive in providing me with all of the information on how to make the claim, the insurance company denied my claim on the basis that it did not cover flood insurance. I was told by the front desk and facility managers that it will be handled, I then received Radio Silence from the District Manager. After 3 months of calls, emails, almost begging for some sort of contact and updates from him, or even just to discuss, I have heard nothing.The saving grace has been a couple of the managers there who have gone above and beyond to try and help. I especially want to thank Edwin. He needs a promotion or more money because he knows how to respond to clients. With over $1000 of losses in water damage to furniture and items I had to discard, being asked to pay more after moving to another unit, I am not sure if or when I will have the time or money to move to a new facility.Yes, it is clean; and the flood is completely rare (I believe) - but if you have a problem - be careful, and get your own renters insurance (that HAS flood insurance) - otherwise you may have to wait until a hurricane comes through Chicago to get covered by theirs or even taken seriously. Unfortunately, it has definitely changed my initial opinion since I moved into my unit.This is honestly my first bad review for a company, but I thought it should be said, in case anyone is seriously considering. Its a shame it had to be them.

Ive never rented storage unit before but had to find temporary storage while selling our condo. The customer service was outstanding from the moment I first rented the unit to the moment I moved out two months later. Id recommend this facility to anyone in the area who needs temperature controlled storage.

I went to Safeguard on March 3, 2021to rent a space and a very nice young man introduced himself as Courtney Henry and asked how he can be of service, I informed him of what I needed regarding space for storage and he politely informed me of all my options and was very informative towards explaining all documents and policies, specials, pricing, and instructions with tour of my storage.I would like to thank Mr. Henry for a lovely demeanor and politeness, I would also like to add he is a great asset to his position.

I am now using Safeguard Storage and was very pleased with the service and the facility. Edwin was very helpful to me...I would highly recommend this storage place.I also wanted to say that I did go to see other places in the area and they did not compare to Safeguard. Their prices are very fair...

I was incredibly surprised, today, with the poor level of service and rude treatment I received from an employee named Ryan at this location today. In general, I have been impressed by both the courtesy and professionalism of the staff at this location, and with the overall condition and cleanliness of the facility. After being a satisfied customer for a few years, Im now reconsidering.

Clean, well lit and accessible! The prices have increased a couple times since I initially signed my contract. Also, the music played in the halls of the facility is always a nice distraction from the reality of hauling 3 car loads of Christmas decorations back into storage unit from your studio apartment!

Simply superb.Ryan went above and beyond to help me. I’d been shopping around before coming here and, simply put, no one at the other stores cared. Ryan had an answer for every question I had. No matter how obscure. I even threw in some cheeky curveballs to see if I could trip him up, all in good fun but he knew the answer. What the locks are made from, how frequently the floors are swept, average temperature, how high the ceiling are, and even what his favorite place to eat is. It was around lunch time and I’m not local. I suppose this review isn’t so much for the store itself, but for the person who works there. Being a man in his later years, I asked my technologically inclined granddaughter to assist me with making an email to leave a review.Ryan.Wise beyond his years and knows how to hold a conversation.He has a politeness and level of professionalism that you don’t typically see anymore. Stored personal belongings here for over a year, and I have no complaints. Everyone I worked with was friendly, and had no problems getting things in and out whenever I needed something. Good location, easy to park a rental car alongside and grab a cart. Good facility, good people, good storage!

Safeguard was the first storage facility I visited that felt right to me. It wasn’t sterile or uninviting, but bright and welcoming (love the yellow!). I was helped by Achille, who showed me the storage unit of my dreams and was genuinely interested in me and my situation. First contact with the facility was absolutely positive. I first called the general contact number and I was contacted by the facility in a matter of minutes: all information had been relayed, appointment made on the same day. Achille explained everything in detail also anticipating any questions and presented me with alternatives which helped me define my priorities and make the correct choices. He is knowledgeable, very patient, friendly and very professional.

Beyond impressed!! Miguel was beyond helpful and stayed late (past store hours) so I could fill out paperwork the day my storage unit started. Great customer service from the first time I called to the day I moved my things. Security is very high tech, and units are affordable. Highly reccomended!!

Achilles was very helpful and friendly. The place is super clean. High security. Excellent access hours.My only complaint (has nothing to do with facility) are the hidden fees. I reserved online and when I went to in to finalize paperwork, I was told of other mandatory fees. Not Achilles fault. Its just the way the company does things - not cool guys! Youre given a free lock (incentive to draw you in), only to find out its made exclusively for Safeguard. Then youre required to pay seperately for a fob. While a nice security feature, not cool when youre told theres a fee for it. Its yours to keep, but only useful at Safeguard facilities when renting. So youre forced to pay for two items that are useless anywhere else. At least include the fob pricing in the upfront mandatory administrative fee. That would seem more honorable of Safeguard. Otherwise, it just looks and feels sneaky. Nonetheless, I needed to go ahead with the rental.

Friendly service. Immaculately clean. My only complaint is that it is not a drive-through entrance. The internal dock space is limited to two vehicles, which can be infuriating if yours isnt one of them when you really need it to be.

I originally thought this storage facility was different, then i had an issue with recurring payments after carefully leaving 1 entire month before my due date, after calling and explaining i was told when i signed up when to be out they would end the contract after the one year, they said it was a mistake by a previous employee that was no longer there.They seemed to fix the problem right away and i left thinking everything was ok, fast forward to today, i received a letter in the mail from a debt collector for $20.33 cents for an un-paid balance, when i called the attorney they hired in Ft Washington Pa. they pretty much told me i ignored all requests from Safeguard for there $20.33, no one ever called or mentioned the balance of $20.33 or i would have paid it, i gladly paid the hard working attorney his money and hopefully saved my 835 credit score.Bottom line, go rent a garage like the old days for much less money and more space, these rental facilities are just like Gym memberships, trickery at its finest.

I had a great experience with Safeguard Storage; as as student, the prices were more than reasonable (especially considering the sizes), and the facility is clean and very professional-looking. Achille helped me out with the administrative stuff, and he was a delight, as well as incredibly accommodating. I dont regret my choice, and would definitely recommend to fellow students (or anyone, really).

Just rented a unit here today. Joe at the desk was awesome, showed me several units and they were extremely reasonable for being in the city. The facility is very clean and new. Super nice facility with a staff focused on customer service. I was dreading having to deal with storage for an upcoming remodel, but noticed this location on a Costco run. It seemed nicer than the usual storage place and it is - its well lit, air conditioned, equipped with a convenient drop off/loading area, and staffed with employees who are extremely helpful and take pride in providing excellent customer service. Prices were comparable with other storage places.

Edwin was FANTASTIC and friendly to deal with . . . make him laugh a bit people. He was so serious when I arrived, good yes. However, work can and should have an element of FUN to it. We are the ones to create that fun . . . its rate to have others bring it . . . and, actually you may even become more Efficient and Effective in the process! Facility is fing KLEAN!!! YES! Easy to access regardless of how you use it (loath car ppl in a city with GREAT Public Transit . . . ugh) I have used storage in the past and SAFEGUARD is doing it the way it should be done. The facilities are incredibly clean and secured. I was really happy with my locker location on the 3rd floor near the elevators. The dock is easily accessible though a little small. Though I was there on a Saturday afternoon and it was not prohibitively crowded at all, so maybe its fine!Achille (staff member) was very helpful. I had some trouble with a 3rd party which we easily resolved. He even followed up with some insurance matters. I recomend this business based on staff, condition of facilities, and premium location in west Lincoln Park.

I was between two storage facilities, one being just a bit cheaper than Safeguard, but, I decided on Safeguard because of Achilles care, his enthusiasm, and his patience with taking me through the entire rental process. This is a storage facility, so whats to tell? Its very clean, easy access, has plenty of dollies to use, etc...The real highlight is the facility manager, Starlyne Wright. Shes is so pleasant its beyond words. Also patient!!! I kept changing my mind a million times, asking tons of questions, demanding various accommodations, an so on. Starlyne never lost her cool, was always pleasant and patient with me answering every question and super accommodating. The Lake View location is shiny and clean and easy to navigate. The Manager Achille is easy to work with. He is supportive of the customers needs and most willing to help find what would work best. Achille is warm and personable and made us feel at home instantly. He showed us around and did not rush us. He explained choices and options. He is a special man! Achille was patient with my husband and me. We are Seniors who needed explanation and time to tour our options. Achille showed respect and patience. Every time I show up, he would see me pull up and always waved and opened the door for me which made things so easy. The place is spotless and I always joked around with my wife that you could practically eat off the floor. The 3 month 50% off deal along with a no contract month to month rental is the best scenario that anyone could ever ask for.This place is truly top notch across the board.
