I visited this.shop to get a get up for a up coming renaissance fair at feather falls at my wifes request .The visit to this.shop was memorable Christy made my wife and I feel comfortable trying on costumes. She was able to read our personalities and fit us in no time . We loved them so.much we decided to buy . If you have a event or just want to have you personalities show She can fit you with everyone of them.

We got 4 custom costumes completed for a fair price with lots of help from all the girls working! I will definitely return! Really a cool place! Thank you!

My experience with the owner of Alter Ego was awesome. She helped each one of us dress with all that went with each outfit. She even came to our event and helped complete each outfit! It was an wonderful time. Made many memories!

Lots of costumes, extremely rude and bossy. The lady clearly has some major control issues. She told me to sit 3 times on a dirty little love seat while I waited to be helped. I preferred to stand she wasnt too happy about that. She was pretty bossy with everyone else that came in after. I understand places get busy and people get stressed. This was beyond busy day stress. Straight up control freak. No need to undermine people and yell demands at them. Not a way I wish to be treated. We left after 20 minutes of waiting around when I couldnt stand to watch her undermine a group of young college kids.

I was extremely off-put by this store even walking in, but my husband and I gave it a chance. The owner was extremely inappropriate and made multiple comments about how “dreamy” she thought my husband was. Aside from that, the quality of the clothes and costume pieces were disgusting and dirty like they hadn’t been cleaned ever. And the Rental price was ridiculous. $100 for one night for my Husband and I. Definitely would not recommend.

Customer service in this store is nonexistent. We came in looking for ideas on costumes to wear, which is what they are advertised to provide along with other services. However, the older lady was rude and snappy with us. She referred to people based on their body or even ethnic characteristics. Uncomfortable and condescending comments were made throughout our experience. We gave their service a try and maintained a respectful attitude towards them, nevertheless their treatment of customers became too uncomfortable and we had to make an excuse to leave. I advise they are more diligent with their customer service training.

I came in for a costume for my boyfriend. Christy was amazing! She guided us through what the outfit would entail, found every piece in his xl size, and even did a little sewing to make it fit better. World class service in Chico!

The lady who worked there was extremely rude. We showed her a picture of the costume we wanted and she grabbed it out of our hand. the costume she showed us was in horrible condition and didnt look like it has been cleaned ever. we were looking for a civil war costume and it looked like someone was killed it in it was so raggedy. i would highly recommend going to time traveler costumes if you wan nice help and a great looking costume

I found cute masks, although I got clearly overcharged for them. I get local businesses needing money, but this is ridiculous. One of the masks I got was $18 while the other was $8. I should have been charged $26 and was charged $34, not including tax. Sadly enough I didnt have the guts to speak up to her then, but make sure to speak up when you go in! I can see the hot glue on the masks, and definitely will not be going here again because of the cost and quality of the items. Generally ruined my day.

My friend and I went to Chico in search of a costume. the phone book listed three we found four .the only one open was Alter Ego . We were very surprised to find a wonderful experience .we walked away with our costumes and ALL of accessories we needed, including our shoes .We highly recommend them there great ! give them a try .Connie and Christie

Yes, it looks disorganized, but that is in the eye of the beholder as Kristie emerges with just the right jacket, dress or combination to take you anywhere in time, including Whoville. This was pretty disappointing. Upon walking in the woman at the counter was rude and blunt with us. She also cursed a few times, wow! Apparently this place is rental-only, and runs more like a thrift store than a costume shop. The clothing she began showing me had evident deodorant stains, and looked unwashed. A few clothes were faded and had very clearly been worn without underwear. The shoes scattered on the floor were scuffed and stained black from lots of heavy use. I left quickly before finding out if it was expensive or not, but needless to say, Im sorely disappointed with the conduct and hygiene of the store.

There are plenty of places that carry cheezy kid costumes, but Alter Ego has REAL clothing, an amazing selection of anything imaginable, and their prices are more reasonable than the cheezy kid stuff. Go here first.

We needed a Chewbacca costume and fast. My daughter forgot to tell me until a few days before a school performance. I didnt have high hopes that we would find anything given the time frame, too late to order online. We went to Alter Ego, there were a few people needing help. The staff seemed a little flustered and the place did have a musty odor. Having said that, we were helped as soon as they could get to us even though it was past store hours. A Chewbacca mask and bandalier was located, and at very reasonable price. Yes, the place could use better ventelation and some fabreeze, but Alter Ego really saved our bacon. The costume was awsome and the price was right!
