The good....FoodMaxx is great for the basics. The ready to eat cornbread is super good. They have a wide selection of products so prices stay low.The bad...The store layout makes you walk all the way through the produce and down the meat and cheese aisle before you get to the rest of the store. You will not find gourmet food at FoodMaxx.The Ugly...They use old fashion freezers that are not energy sufficient. They keep the checkout lines long to save on overhead cost. Be prepared to wait in long lines and package your own purchases.

Food Maxx was good, employees were nice but the prices arent what they used to be.

I had a good experience, drove from Las molinos, to get reasonable priced food. It seems the prices have went up, but Im sure thats in all stores.

Helpful employees there great alcohol selection, could use a little more options though but other than that great store.

I shop here the most as it is near to my home. Although they dont carry as wide a variety of items as say Winco the prices are lower than Safeway and definitely lower than Raleys. All of the employees are super friendly and just as helpful. I really like my FoodMaxx.

Terrible customer service starting by the night manager Christina as well as Ernesto the supervisor and the night clerk at the register. Ive seen this type of rudeness, its when employees have been working at a company for several years and think that they can get away with being rude to customers. I dont recommend this store.

My all time favorite grocery store. I’ve been shopping at Food Maxx for many years, even before they were Food Maxx... when they were Food 4 Less! This grocery store has a wonderful layout and they are consistent with their prices. The staff is friendly and I can almost always find everything on my list.

Extra wide isles and really good produce. This is my number 1 go to super market.

Prices are somewhat reasonable. Has a good variety of food and necessities. Store was clean and organized.

This place is better than the Oroville one in terms of overall cleanliness, but that isnt saying much. I was already in the area on Sunday and bought my groceries here to save time. The mango I purchased, that was totally under ripe and more importantly, unmarked on the outside when I bought it, was completely rotten inside when I cut into it today once it seemed to have ripened a bit. While there, I found moldy lemons, squishy eggplants, a lot of random dirty rags in the meat section, and a package of provolone cheese that was more green and grey than white. Many of the cans are dented or crushed (ever heard of botchulism?) The employees REALLY need to step up the product turnover.

I do Instacart and I see the Foodmaxx staff on the daily and they are awesome. Human but polite and helpful in all departments too. Its hard to call it good across the board at many places, but you can say that about Foodmaxx. :)

Cashiers need to be a little more friendly other than that my shopping was good

Went in today to find some stuff that I needed and i was greeted by a very nice employee. I was not able to catch his name, but he was the one outside pushing carts and got me one as soon as I asked him to. He was a larger build, bearded man. He was kind and friendly and I will definitely be shopping there again because of the customer service.

I like this supermarket. The frozen food is the aisles closest to the cashiers, so you dont have to walk around the whole supermarket while your ice cream melts. Genius!

Has everything I need for grocery shopping and is one of the only stores open 24 hrs which is very convenient.

What else is there to say? They have the best prices in town and you do not have the crowds that you get at WinCo. WinCo is a madhouse FoodMaxx I can always get in and out fairly quick

Helpful staff and prices are always great. The employees also dont play around when it comes to troublemaker transients. Have seen them kick out a few and not just out the door but all the way out their parking lot for customer safety and so damage to customer vehicles is prevented.

Usually i love getting my groceries at FoodMaxx, I still do but since Ive moved back to Chico-from Oroville-its really hard to get used to the stores here.The whole layout of the stores are way differant.I have no idea where anything is and end up looking up and down several isles just to find 2-3 things..Id much rather be back in Oroville..

The main reason I shop here is the price. It’s super affordable. Produce and meat quality are just ok and they don’t have a lot of healthy options such as gluten free, organic etc and the ones they do have aren’t super easy to find. They also don’t have a wide variety of options of the items they carry.

This is the place to shop! I literally despise stores and get anxiety from the flickering lights and all the annoying people. Luckily for me, this stores lights dont flicker and not many people shop here all at once. I like that the isles are big and the affordable prices.

First i must say there is an evening/night manager i think. She has dark hair, is older, & petite. I dislike her, shes very rude. She often approaches me in the self check out, & tries to do things for me or take stuff out of my cart, & ask if Im buying it. Like why would I even have it if I wasnt. She talks down to me, & treats me like Im a thief, which Im not. And its not just me, I see her treat a lot of other customers horribly. Then there are times when the self check outs are all open, & being sensitive to everything, but no staff is around to help, so you end up standing there for long periods of time just waiting for them to make it weigh things properly or take a coupon. Thing is, self check out is meant to be faster. They dont ever have the groceries I want, or a big selection for ice cream. I mostly go here for frozen waffles & fruit because its cheaper. Hard to find good fruit sometimes as well.

No frills but good prices on some items. Used to be better prices but started creeping up sometime ago. Now i go to more stores and shop some sales.

The check area to doorway need to be sanitized better. Dust walls washed ceilings washed counters behind counters everything needs to be washed every night.

Place needs more lighting, more cashiers, and update to their self check out. Need happier cashiers, their are always uptight non talkative employees and follow you around the store like your stealing... prefer WinCo to everyone.

I do buy from this store at times. They have pretty reasonable prices. They dont carry a large assortment but have what I want most of the time.

Food Maxx often has some pretty good deals. They have the red tags to show what is on sale and sometimes its a pretty substantial discount. Ive often stocked up on red tagged foods that I know I would buy anyways and have saved a pretty good amount. Even the regularly priced foods are a good deal.

FoodMaxx is always a good place to go their produce is one of the best in Chico. The staff is always friendly. And they have a good variety of name brands as well as store brand items.

Ive literally been going here for twenty years and almost nothing had changed. Ive had five cars lived in 4 different towns many different houses. Went from a college brat to a fatherhood and this store had been one of the most consistent things in my life during that whole time.... Also there prices and selection are superb

Too bad they use telecheck, my check for 268.00 was declined, I went out and called telecheck, after telling them my life history, you dont have a returned check we declined because of the large amount? And you MIGHT??? went back in store, they overrode it! But really?? Thats ridiculous

Pretty average for a grocery store. Have never been impressed with their meat or bakery departments but their produce section is amazing. Lots of options well organized clean and quality items for a great price.

They are the best. An assistant manager helped make a family of 7 have a beautiful Christmas tree. Many blessings sent his way. Real down to earth people.

Its one of the cheapest grocery stores on Chico. The cheapest bananas, a lot of good prices on groceries. Good sales on big packages of meat. A lot of places to park

What an incredible store! The manager actually came up to me and asked me how I was doing and if I was finding everything I needed. The prices were great and so was the selection. Its my new go to store.

A couple of years ago I would have given FoodMaxx 4 stars. Since then there produce has changed, the fruit, the potatoes, terrible. I am so sorry you have decided to buy from a lower grade produce seller, it shows as the quality is terrible. Also when checking out at the cash register the young man was very rude, barely acknowledging me and would rather have had a conversation with his co-worker 3 cash registers over. I will not be back. It saddens me as my Mom and I used to shop here often years ago before she passed away, just for the high quality of the produce and the friendly service.

Low prices make it hard to shop anywhere else, but almost always lines at the register. There can be problems with transients, but they generally keep to themselves. The workers are very friendly, but hard to locate any in the middle of the day. The produce is amazing on freshness and price almost year-round. Shop the flyers for best deals and always compare price per unit on smaller vs larger packages as they get different deals on each and one may be cheaper one time but not the next.

Pretty pricey but convenient.

I love Food Maxx and used to shop there all the time until I moved closer to Winco. Their selections are similar as well as their pricing. FoodMaxx just redid the interior so it looks very nice. They also have an excellent Hispanic selection of foods as well as some ingredients that I cant find anywhere else. The only downside to FoodMaxx that I can see, is that the staff used to be much friendlier oh, but its still a good place to shop.
