I couldnt believe how quickly I was able to sell my car! The entire process took about 1hr. The paperwork I had to signed was minimal and the reps explained each one in simple terms.The reps answered all of my questions with a positive attitude and always made sure to tell me how long each step was going to take. In summary, the customer service experience was outstanding and the turnaround was fast.
This was the FIRST time Ive ever driven a car away from a dealership feeling completely satisfied with the experience. From the moment I picked out the car to driving it home, I felt like I was their #1 priority. They even gave me an outstanding trade in value on my old car; enough to cover my down payment! Good quality cars, and super friendly, helpful staff.

My fiancé took her car in for repairs and got a rental. She called earlier today and told them she was going out of town until Sunday. The lady specifically told her the part had not arrived and probably wouldn’t get there until tomorrow, Friday, and they wouldn’t get to it until Monday more than likely and she should be fine. Then 2 1/2 hours later they left her a voicemail saying her car was ready and she had until 9 to return the rental. By the time she received the message she had already been driving to go on her business trip. She called to let them know that she had called earlier and was told she would be fine and they said no you have to bring the car back or she would have to pay for it. That is absolutely ridiculous! Someone at their company told her she would be fine. They should have honored that. The the manager made some smart comment about did she expect them to pay out of their pocket for it….. Well that answer would be YES! An employee of their company should not have told her she was good. Horrible customer service! You guys gonna pay her for the gas you made her waste on the wasted partial trip for her work because you should! You can guarantee my friends family and anyone else that will listen will hear of this experience. I will update.
I sold two personal vehicles a few days apart and had an truly exemplary experience. We had a minor issue with receiving payoffs from my lenders which was beyond anyones control, otherwise it was quick and painless. I thought their offer was very fair and I would highly recommend them to friends and family!
Worst customer service ever ! Brian who manages the phone is rude and incompetent... there is no way to speak to anybody in auto finance whatsoever.... not through their home office, corporate office. No help whatsoever. I’m literally going to have to hire an attorney to get my vehicle back, even after I paid what was owed, these people literally will not just send over a release form! Mean, rude and completely unprofessional. Run away from these crooks!

I was waiting for over 2 hours with another one of your associates while she was supposedly completing my transaction with an occasional will get it done. Courtney asked me what I was still waiting for and immediately took charge. She completed the transaction within 25 minutes. She is an outstanding employee and cares about customer service. My fiancé and I went to CarMax not really expecting much if I’m being honest. We sat down with Jamie and told him what he had for a down payment and that our credit had taken a couple of hits due to personal reasons. He ran our credit for the car we wanted and we weren’t accepted with what we had to put down so he asked us if we wanted him to see if we qualified for any vehicle with what we had. He went ahead and did that and surprisingly there was 5 available! The financing company makes it a bit difficult with what they will accept for proof of things but Jamie was so patient while I worked feverishly to try and get all our documents in order, in fact he even let me reschedule my appointment the night we picked up the car 3 different times lol. We walked out with all the other employees at closing time that night but we are the proud owners of 2016 Kia Soul with very low miles. If you have bad credit and need a good car then CarMax is the place for you! Everyone there is extremely helpful and friendly

So this is a review of my service I received at CarMax Clearwater, was helped by Adam and Adam two different people when I bought my car and they where fantastic and took good care of me. Unfortunately, the car I purchased wasn’t right for me. And when I took it back under the 30 day Love your Car promise, there was no hassle, no pressure to keep it, or buy another car with them. And that makes me sure when I need another car or I know someone looking for one, I will recommend the CarMax in Clearwater.
So I have always loved Carmax but recently I have had some really bad experiences there. First, I went there recently about trading my car in and they misquoted my car value. When I read the small print they had said it had physical damage to it which it does not. He was like let me see what’s that about and they said “whoops”, let me fix that. I feel like they were trying to offer me less than my vehicle is worth. Then my mom tried to get another vehicle from them but the interest rate and fees were double what another lot down the street was offering. Then to top it off, I dropped my vehicle off for vehicle repairs and my warranty covers a rental so I picked it up on Monday night and then I called Thursday around 12:30pm to let them know I am going out of town and if it would be okay to take the rental since they still have not repaired my vehicle. The lady told me the part was still not in and should not be in until Friday, which means they won’t be repairing it until Monday so I’m good to take the rental out of town. Then while not having my phone on me, I receive a voicemail around 2:30pm that my vehicle is ready go pickup and is repaired. So i see that voicemail around 5:30pm and call them and say hey, I saw your voicemail. I was told I’m okay to return the rental on Monday since I’m going out of town. Then I was told well too bad, your vehicle is ready and if the rental is not dropped off by the morning while we are open then you are being charged for the rental for everyday since we repaired your vehicle today. I told them I already called and was told I’m okay until Monday to return the rental but they did not care and said, well we will have to pay out of pocket. I said okay so you want me to turn around and return the vehicle now? He said if you cannot return it earlier that’s fine but you will be charged. I was astounded. I will never be buying another vehicle with Carmax and will beware everyone to not buy with them. They care about any penny they can make instead of the consumer.

Apparently you can steal a car from someone and just bring it to this place and they will cut them a check. Girlfriend stole my car from me while I was at work and brought it to this place and they gave her a check for my car without my consent, refusing to give me my car back hours after the fact.

Financed a car, drove off lot 2 months later coolant issues. Now 2 years later same issues. 700$ here and there while still making payments and keeping it mechanically up to date. They gave no cares. The car was there for only 7 days before they sold it to me. Thats not long enough to guarantee like they say. I complained nothing has happened. Its my problem i bought a junker for $15,000 i guess. Then tried to get trade in and they said 8000 down i said i just need a safe reliable car and no help no remorse no sympathy no going above the standards. The customer relations said no downpayment but they wont honor it. They keep trying to get money money money. Better take the bus..had a investigation to see if its a lemon and no reply...kids have missed school and i missed work. Wheres the care? What do i pay for?

However, from beginning to end, I could not have been more pleased with the car buying experience and the actual vehicle purchased. I selected the vehicle over the phone with a CarMax rep who got to know what I wanted and found the perfect car. The price was reasonable. It was shipped to a local store. Financing was secured by them in advance. Within days of my initial inquiry, I was on the road as the owner of a new-to-me Jeep Renegade... Thanks CarMax!
Getting an online quote for my car was easy and took less than 10 minutes. It took an hour and a half, from walking into CarMax with my quote to selling my car. They honored the quote despite me forgetting about a couple of mechanical/cosmetic problems online, which I was very surprised about. Overall, I was very happy with how nice the staff were, how simple it was to sell, and how little anxiety I felt the entire process.If I ever need to sell a car in the future, I will definitely be going back to CarMax!
Many many issues:1. Got an online offer for $3,000 and made an appointment2. Whole process took 3 hours with many issues including:- Salesperson could not find out who took Van to remove plate. She kept going to the back and come. 4 times in total. Then she came with a plate that is not ours. She said our plate will be Fedex to us. Still waiting for it after 3 days.- Actual offer was $2,000 after Van was inspected. Items mentioned were what you would expect from a 2004 Van.Anyway we had sold a car in the past to Carmax in Illinois and it was done in 35 min and was a great experience.This one in carmax in Clearwater was a bad experience. Would not recommend it.
Sat therefore an hour for a 30 minute estimate and they came back with an offer of $25 for a car blue booked conservatively at $32k. I understand they have to make some money but a complete waste of time. Its a sellers market. Dont waste your time with these guys

I have had the experience of buying and selling cars for quite some time. I do my homework prior to my visits, and I have been met with varied responses. Some places are happy to see me (with my research). Some are not so happy and border on being rude and condescending. Being a female should make absolutely no difference but unfortunately that is not reality.Sooooo....when I say that Clearwater CarMax will now be my go-to location for buying and selling any vehicle I have, I dont make that statement lightly. We took my mom and her car to this location and were greeted warmly. In fact, each person at CarMax seemed genuinely appreciative that we chose their location in which to see her car.Damian handled our request with professionalism and compassion. He informed us of what was going to happen and made sure we were comfortable during the wait. He checked back with us several times giving us the latest update.Brian handled our paperwork and presentation of the check. He was expedient and apologetic for our wait (which was not unreasonable at all). In a day and age where customer service sometimes is nonexistent, it was a true pleasure to have these two young men handle our moms affairs. I would recommend them to anyone in our same position.Our experience was sooo very important to us since having a parent voluntarily give you their vehicle is a huge step. Our mom was treated with the respect she deserved from virtually total strangers. We will always remember this experience.

I’ve bought two cars from Carmax in the past 4 years. Just bought my second one a few weeks ago. Only complaint I have is the car had some issues that shouldn’t have past inspection but did and I’ve had to come back for warranty work. Their waiting room is just chairs with no tv or anything to entertain you while you wait the “over 2 hours” of work to be done to your car. I had to bring my twins so it’s a little annoying they don’t have anything here for you while you wait.
This is the second time I purchase a car from you and it was a recommendation from daughter which has purchase a car, also. I have no complaintsfrom your people or service.It bother me that I was not provided with the vehicle maintenance manual.

We left but returned 3 days later, still skeptical. No hassle, no hidden fees and within 45 minutes, walked with a check. Thank you for a great, easy experience. I ordered a car to be shipped to my local store. The ordering process went well. Then everything fell off the tracks. The car sat on the lot for 6 days and I had to call multiple times before they said it was ready. I came in at 4:15 and the car interior was disgusting. I can only imagine the windows were down the entire shipping process. That is literally the only possible explanation. To top it off I sat in the dealership for over 5 HOURS waiting to buy the car. I will say everyone was nice that I dealt with but the priority was not selling cars. They also said the the car was perfect with zero imperfections in the paint. When I inspected the car the next day there were paint chips all over the car. Needless to say I will never step foot in another CarMax again.

This dealership is very condescending, I was in warranty when I told them about a clicking noise but they diagnosed it as brakes. Mind you later down the road after repeat attempts to get in contact no answer over the phone, plus visiting the establishment no call backs after my number being taken down and being told someone would call me back, I find out there’s a Transmission issue through Nissan for 4,125 almost half of what the cars worth when I bought it and what it’s actually worth now, cause I couldn’t depend on them, but now I’m out of warranty and they seen on paper I was coming in for a issue, I knew something was wrong I came back again cause they still in their minds think it’s the brakes, they said nothing was wrong, this doesn’t show up on a check engine light the issue I’m having you would have to actually look and diagnose it right, they sold me a LEMON and they know it yes I’m out of warranty now but before I was out and it’s on file I kept coming in for a noise a clicking noise and it was not the brakes!!!!
I highly highly recommend this dealership. I walked into the Carmax dealership in Clearwater with the intention of appraising and potentially selling my vehicle. The offer I received online was the same as the one offered after the appraisal and was significantly higher than other dealerships. Thus I decided to sell my car and the whole process from the time I stepped into the dealership to the time I had a check in my hands was less than an hour... Everyone was super polite, helpful, professional, and very time efficient. I was pleasantly surprised that they do not adhere to the usual dealership practices and hassles that everyone hates. Car Max was perfect. Their online estimator was exactly what we were given for our car. They test drove it, looked it over and did not change original offer. The office was clear with expectations regarding time for various activities and they were pleasant and efficient. 100% recommend.

I like the CarMax process of no haggle and being able to transfer a car anywhere in the country and I have bought 2 cars this year from them.However on both the cars I have bought this year, from different ends of the country, they have messed up my DMV paperwork. In one case I have had to wait months for my title and in the other I have to go in an re-sign my paperwork as they have lost the original.Also their inspections have started to slip. In one case they failed to spot a complete interior panel was missing and in the other a huge chip/crack in the windshield. One of the cars also had a badly damaged tire which they failed to spot. My only other complaint is the poor quality of chip touchups in the case of both cars it appears they are touching up with generic colors. When you have a pearl finish it does not look good.I still like CarMax but they need more attention to detail and get the dang paperwork correct.

Craig was very kind, efficient and helpful. Only had to wait about 20 minutes after inspection to get my offer handed to me. Offer was very fair and easy to accept. Then test drive and final paperwork only took about 30 minutes to complete; deal was finalized and I was on my way feeling good about my whole experience. I would highly recommend Carmax to anyone!
Carmax bought my car two months ago and never made the pay off to the Lien holder. When I called, they told me they weren’t going to be able to buy my vehicle and I should come pick it up, (two months after they bought it), say what. Then a manager got on the phone and said they were going to try and make the pay off and apologized, that was weeks ago and two additional car payments later. So no call and they still haven’t paid off my vehicle with the bank that I signed over two months ago. How on earth does this happen. I also paid them over $4,000 for the short fall of the pay off. They got my car plus $4k and I’m still making the payments. I have no car, no communication and no pay off. Is Carmax mismanaging money or going bankrupt?I’m going to have to seek legal help and I’m writing the attorney generals office. Did Carmax steal my car and my money? Prior to all of this, the process was wonderful but this wiped away all of the good.Update…more than 3 months later carmax paid off my vehicle but hitting me with three additional car payments from my bank and carmax has still not made it right. Several emails and phone calls. Don’t trust carmax.

DO NOT BUY FROM HERE!! I’m telling you, these people got a scam going on with these cars they are selling. If you are buying get the 24hr test drive and take it to a trusted mechanic first! DO NOT BUY WITHOUT GETTING IT INSPECTED FIRST. My daughter and I were on the highway with a faulty brake system. If I could give them a -10 stars I would. I purchased a vehicle 10 years ago from the Orlando location with no issues at all. Clearwater location is a NO GO!

Purchased a vehicle 2 days ago, after hours and hours finally being approved and going through all the paperwork, I’m waiting for the car to be cleaned and the sales man comes to me to say he is sorry but my car won’t start and they are closed they will have to wait till tomorrow to see what is wrong and give me a loaner in the mean time. The next day I called to find out what’s up, the lady from services advices me that NOTHING was wrong with the vehicle they ran tests and did test drive and they don’t know why I was informed it wasn’t able to start and that I would have my car first thing in the morning. Now it’s the day I should be receiving my vehicle and now they are telling me I STILL CAN NOT receive my car because it is in transfer status and no one can tell me when I will be able to receive the car. I would’ve been better off driving back to Tampa and getting the vehicle myself. I paid all this money to have no info and no car & the vehicle the lent me is falling apart & is 3 sizes SMALLER then the vehicle I purchased I AM NOT HAPPY & they say no discount and nothing they can do or offer me besides a clean car and a tank full of gas . 2 stars because the sales man Jesse was nice ONLY REASON FOR TWO STARS OR ELSE IT WOULD BE NONEEEEEEEE
WE were pleased with the choices we were offered. The process was quick and simple. The salesperson was extremely helpful and I love my purchase.The only critique I have is that the map was not loading and no one at Car Max knew how to get it to load. I had to take it to a Toyota dealer to get it to work and it was a matter of IT knowing how to do it.

Bought a car. Straight forward process with a good, not great, price. No gotchas or ridiculous add-ons like so many dealers. Was offered extended warranty but it wasnt pushed. Salesman followed up on day of pickup to confirm. All very well handled. On pickup day car was ready at appointment time and Salesman available within 10 minutes. However, here is the problem...I waited over an hour for paperwork then another half hour to get keys to my trade in to transfer stuff. Great front end, lousy back end service. I witnessed 4 or 5 guys up front standing around but not enough support in back. Reallocation of man power is in order.

The Carmax brand goes on and on about, no pressure, no hassle, and certified vehicles. I can attest after a very disappointing experience, they elicit a lot of pressure, hassle, and do not have high quality vehicles for sale. I bought a 2017 Ford Escape for almost 21K and found out very quickly it had rust issues, brake issues, and alignment issues. I called within the seven day return window to have someone address the issues, but surprisingly they could not examine the vehicle in their service department until after my return period was expired. I called multiple locations and left a message for the operations manager to call me back, but got no return call and was offered no remedy to the situation. While I was debating whether to return the car, a nice Florida rain shower came to the aid of my decision making as the Carmax Certified vehicle that I had just purchased leaked water in through the headliner and interior lights leaking on my iPhone, causing me to miss a day of work to drive back to Carmax, and resulting in a hassle-full experience that I will not forget.Carmax may be a good concept overall, but has some serious quality control issues. The sales staff was also very inconsistent in their customer service and provided a very typical sales experience. They tried to sell me things when I continually said no, they employed sales tactics trying to get me to hurry up and decide on a car, and worst of all they failed to disclose the critical problems of the vehicle and did not remedy them when given the chance. Carmax has let me down big time!
