Went there a few months ago to get my septum pierced. The owner is the nicest and genuine person I’ve ever met! Piercing was quick and painless. Had no hiccups with the healing. Highly recommend!!

I had an appointment set for today, July 1, 2021 which I booked on Monday, June 28, 2021. My entire reason for booking with Perception is because it is black and female owned. I was extremely excited and planned my entire day/week around today’s appointment.I am not from Columbia, SC so I had to drive an hour from my home town to get to the establishment. Even with me leaving my house early, traffic was horrible and it was raining extremely bad, which made traffic even worse. Upon reaching the shop, I noticed that the “Closed” sign was on the door. I brushed it off thinking that it was a Covid precaution to prevent walk-ins from entering. Being that my appointment was at 5:45pm and I arrived promptly at 5:35pm, I called just to see if it was okay for me to go ahead and come in early. Once I was on the phone, I was asked what I was getting pierced today- I answered. After I answered with my desired piercings, I was informed that my appointment was cancelled due to the piercer having personal issues the night before. She stated that she thought she cancelled all of her appointments for the day…but somehow she missed mine. She repeatedly exclaimed that she didn’t not want to go into detail about said personal issues [not that I asked] and offered to reschedule for tomorrow, Friday, July 2, 2021. As previously stated, I am not from Columbia, SC. I can not just come back the next day…that is the point of booking an appointment in advance. She, in a very monotone voice, offered a discount if I wanted to reschedule but quite honestly that option is not sufficient enough for me. I did not feel like she even cared about the hoops that I jumped through (driving from over an hour away in the rain) just to support the business. I felt rushed off the phone and just left there in the parking lot to figure it out on my own, extremely unprofessional. Before ending the call, she told me to call her back if I thought about rescheduling. On my way back home, I considered rescheduling so I called her back and when I did she sent me to voicemail.All in all, the lack of professionalism was unreal. I am very disappointed and I wish that I could have been serviced or at least a better experience all around. I completely understand that personal issues do come up and some things are out of your control; however, there is a much better way to conduct business than what was described above. I really tried to be sympathetic and understanding but I did not feel respected nor cared about; for that reason I will not be back - nor will I positively promote this business.

Literally the best piercing shop! The vibes are always immaculate and she makes sure you’re completely comfortable. She thoroughly explains the piercing and aftercare. They are very professional I got two piercings from here my nose and my septum both times I didn’t even feel any of the pain! They know exactly what they are doing and have a very clean work area with amazing workers and a kindhearted owner. 10/10 recommend
