Unprofessional!!!! Came in for a tire repair, Im waiting at the counter for a few minutes. The advisor is standing right in front of me. Doesnt acknowledge Im even there. Came off to be rood, I was about to walk out... Finally decides to assist me. I explained my tire situation. All I needed was a patch job. The advisor is selling me a tires without even looking at my car .... My intentions was to ask about brakes as well... I ended up going to a local tire shop. No problems in and out.. Being in the automotive Field all my life . I was being sold a bill of goods. My advice sell the small jobs too. One day that same customer will come back to buy the high ticket items...

Beyond my expectation and great service. I went for my cars brake problem. The person in service center Mr. Ahmed was very professional, patient, courteous and pleasant to deal with. He listened to my problem with attention, took my car in, explained me the problems and what needed to be done in details. I was impressed by the professionalism and honesty. Made me feel really comfortable and ease.

Awful service. The employees were of no help. Seemed too busy playing on there phones and going to the food truck to help any customer. My appointment for an hour of work is currently going on over 5 hours and counting. Truly appreciate my one day off being stolen.

Had an appointment Saturday March 6th for new tires on my vechile. Dropped vechile off at 10am I recieved a call at 4:30pm they said my tpms sensor was broken and I would need to purchasea new one. I told them when I dropped vechile off it wasnt and was working great, I was put on hold for a minute service advisor came back and said that tech broke it and they would pay half, I told service advisor you guys broke it you need to replace it. I was put back on hold for a minute he then came back and said they would pay for the new sensor and replace it. Vechile wasnt done yet and was told they would call me when its done. They called me at 5:30pm vechile is done. I went and picked up vechile and they tried to charge me for sensor, manager then zeroed it out. Next day tpms light went on I called and told them they told me come in first thing next Saturday morning and they would take care of it. I called again Monday and was told the same thing. I went in on Saturday March 13th 8am serve advisor said they would try the nest they could to get me in, an hour and 10 min later vechile still wasnt touched and I told them this is ridiculous and I need to leave for work. Finally a gentleman from the shop came out and took care of it witch only took him 10 min. I Will not be going back to pep boys not worth the headache and hassle to save a few bucks.

Brought my car in for service after getting a code p0128 when I checked it on my own. After a diagnostic assessment, they told me they needed to change all the parts related to my thermostat and coolant temperature sensor. Having already looked up all the parts myself and knowing it should cost around $500 with labor included, I was shocked when they told me the repairs would cost $1,400, not including tax! I told them not to do anything and I would come in to pick up my car. When I arrived to pick up my car a few hours later, I was meet by Noah R. I asked Noah R how they came to the $1,400 price for repair. His response to me, in the most CONDESCENDING tone was, “Well do you even know who makes mini?” You always hear about how mechanics take advantage of women, but I had yet to experience that before today. The best part of this situation is that the following day, my check engine light went off. MEANING, there was nothing actually wrong with my car. Had I been a naive woman, I would have paid them $1,400 to fix something that didn’t even need to be fixed. Please ladies, never bring your car to this place. They do not know how to treat women! We deserve to be respected; not spoken to like we are beneath men!

Review edit 8-9-19:Came back here for my scheduled oil change. The manager couldnt find my appointment, my car, my name, or my phone calls to them the prior day to schedule my appointment. After entering my phone number in the computer scheduling system, he was able to find an appointment for a later date scheduled with my name on it, which was incorrect. I (calmly) asked him what we can do to rectify this. His answer; go to another store or bring it to my car manufacturer service store to get an oil change. Both didnt work for me as I left work early to make my scheduled oil change appointment before my work client meeting in another town an hour later. Thats how appointments work, you schedule them so both you and the store are able to make it. There was no solution, no coupon, no rebate, no sorry, well fit you in or come back here later and well take care of it. Simply put, I left to go to my work client meeting, and scheduled an appointment with another companys oil change store. I will not be coming back here again. Thank you Derek, Andrew, and Meghan for your wonderful service the last time. Whoever took my phone call the prior day to make my appointment, no thank you.Original review January 2019:My experience here was very good. Service was friendly and pretty quick. I dealt with the sales associates Derek, Andrew, and Meghan who were all very friendly and helpful. They were knowledgeable of the products and services and while I waited, we all spoke to pass the time.

Just went in today 2-23-20. Delt with a very nice lady concerning tires but then had to move to the parts department to order new rims for my jeep. I asked the guy behind the counter if he thought black rims would look good on a gray jeep. He responded that hes not an interior decorator. He had a few more interesting comments that made my blood boil. So just had to walk out. Customer service is dead at this location

My son brought his car there a couple of weeks ago to get a new battery for is 2008 Elantra. He said he got the total run around from the people on the floor. When someone finally waited on him he was less than helpful. He left his car as he was told to come back in an hour. Shortly after the mechanic called him and said he ordered the wrong battery. My son told the mechanic he ordered the one the guy in the store said was the right one. Needless to say. That one was more expensive. Terrible customer service! I’d never go go there after my own terrible experience with them!

Made an appointment for 12pm for oil change. Showed up 11:45 and was told to fill out paperwork and put my keys in drop off box. Im told at 1:00, they didnt even take my keys out of drop box and they have taken other vehicle before me. If I could put 0 stars I would. Manager is no help, looked 15 years old and had no answers for this.these other reviews are bull. Go somewhere else and thank me later

The service is great behind the counters. Everyone does seem to want to help you. Im not really a fan of the store layout. I do believe it can be improved. But they are really good at finding the problem with your car and fixing it in a timely fashion. If you do not know how to fix cars then being it here and youll never be ripped off.

Staff does not go out of their way to assist you. Stood at counter looking for parts, no one acknowledged me. I had to speak up for assistance. No one there is serious about that job. I shop there because they have the royal purple oil I use.

The place is under new management and it shows. The new personel is eager to assist and help you in any way possible. I used to frequent this establishment in the past and it had gotten terrible with finding the parts you were looking for. It got to the point were I started speaking in other establishments. A couple of months ago I stopped by to get a pert and the change was apparent. If youll give it another chance like I did, you will not be disappointed.

Made a 7 PM appointment for an oil change. Showed up at 6:25. I said “hi, I’m here for an oil change”. Service clerk said “kinda late to come in, isn’t it”. I said “actually I’m kinda early, I have a 7 PM appointment”. Clerk says “appointments are guide lines and it’ll be 1-1/2 hours before we get to you”.I said “what’s the purpose of making an appointment if they really don’t mean anything to Pep Boys?” He said “like I said, appointments are guidelines”.Hey Pep Boys- lots of competition to change oil. I went next door to Good Year, waited 20 min and all was fine. ...oh, and the service tech wasn’t a jerk.

I closed the account because of the horrible service and the way they processed my dun & Bradstreet number and opened an account across the street at AutoZone which has been really helpful and much much better service from the commercial department

Ive been a customer for at least 5 years. I have always been treated courteously and respectfully. They stand behind their work and have promptly resolved any issues. With only exception, they have been able to handle all my cars service needs. (Had to go back to horrid dealership for that one issue that subsequently tried to rip me off.)I recommend these guys anytime I can - managers to techs! The best!

I dropped my car off at 10:30 for a 12:30 inspection appointment. I called at 3:45 and was told my car was up next and the inspection will be completed shortly. I called again at 5:15 and was told to come at 6:00 and knock on the door because the store will be closed. I will not return to this location.

For the first time, I went to Pep Boys for an oil change. The Commack store was terrific! I waited only 30 minutes for my car to be serviced, and with a coupon, it only cost $20. Perhaps the best aspect of my experience was they didnt try to up-sell me! Ill definitely be back!

Great location, always have stock of everything youll need at reasonable prices. Easy to see right off of Jericho Turnpike servicing Commack and the adjoining areas of Suffolk County. Clean facilities with a wheelchair accessible entrance. Credit cards accepted. Nice Staff. Plenty of of parking. Public Restroom. We will definitely be going back.

Pretty quick for oil changes, tune ups, many to most parts are available if not can be ordered and arrive quickly. They also sell many things for use either in fixing your car or souping it up.. Friendly staff who want to help you, battery tester and free WiFi in waiting room (see also area)

Lazy, poor customer service and overall rude, incompetent staff. Brought the car in for an oil change. $20 is a good deal for what should be an in and out thing. (I can change my own oil but have been way too busy lately in the evenings and weekends to fit it in.) Evidently two techs called out that day. The shop was backed up beyond belief. The management there said it was a regularly occurring thing. No one mentioned that it would be quite a while before they would even take my car back. Common decency would have been to explain the situation. After an hour and a half, my car was still sitting in the parking lot so I took the keys and left as I had to get back to work. I made an appointment for the following day.I called ahead for appointment number two to be told that if I came in the oil change would take between 1.5-2 hours. Really? At least they provided a realistic time frame over the phone...with plenty of attitude, by the way...I was told that we do more than just oil changes here and why dont I just show up if I made an appointment. Huh? Im calling ahead to find out how many hours of my life Im going to spend sitting there for a 10-minute job and after already investing 2 hours for nothing the day before, calling ahead of my appointment to check is a smart thing to do, no? I decided then and there that this oil change was not happening. Ill be taking my business elsewhere.By the way, while waiting for attempt #1, there was a woman who was told to pick up her car at noon. She showed up around 12:30 only to be told that her car would be ready by the end of the day (at 9:00 p.m.!) or the following morning. No one called her to let her know. She made arrangements for a ride, took off from work, etc.Finally, Mike is rude, unprofessional and frankly doesnt care about his customers. He carries around an attitude, comes off as elitist and belittles customers in person and over the phone. Pep Boys needs to reevaluate their choice of management and certainly needs to train these brash, abrasive individuals how to treat customers like people. The Golden Rule does not apply at this place of business. Save yourself the headache, listen for the dozens of 1-star reviews and go somewhere else.

I made a 10Am appointment for a wheel alignment. I make my appointment on time and the rude man that was assisting at the service counter that NEVER looked me in the eyes told me it will be a couple of hours to complete the work on my vehicle. Im sorry what I scheduled an appointment and appointment means I scheduled a time AHEAD to have services rendered. Long story short do not opt to wait for services as they dont know when they can provide services. Go into Huntington all weather tires its in and out guys are nice and know what their talking about. I will never ever schedule any type of service with pepboys!!!

Unfortunately zero stars isnt an option here. my headlight went out on my way to work today and since this location is right by my job I decided to run in quick and see if they could pop a new one in. my boyfriend is a mechanic, however, hes in the city with our family which I was supposed to join for holiday dinner. not only was the staff unable to help me as they were all booked up and couldnt spare the extra two minutes, it felt like I was inconvenient for even asking! thank heaven for Advanced Auto Parts down the street! an employee was willing to clock out for his break to ensure I made it to dinner on time and safely until a customer behind me spared 30 SECONDS of his life to help me out. Great people still exist, just not at this establishment. I will be sure to recommend that everyone I ever encounter go to advanced auto parts instead of any pep boys locations! fortunately for me, I had the two minutes to take out of my schedule to write a review.... THUMBS DOWN

I had a tire blowout on the LIE I was towed by emergency roadside since I was trapped in the HOV lane, my insurance company called them they said they were open until 9. I arrived there and asked if I could get a tire I was told it was too late. So I asked the girl if someone could help and just put the spare on dor me and her response was No we have all the lifts full, leave your car overnight. Really no compassion no nothing. My mother was freezing since we had been waiting outside for awhile. I WILL NEVER EVER STEP FOOT IN ANOTHER ONE OF THESE ESTABLISHMENTS ! While they will fix your car, they WILL lie about what is exactly wrong. Do yourself a favor, invest in a good OBD2 scanner and read your check engine light yourself. Do a little homework and bring it to a honest mechanic and show him the codes you came up with on the scanner.

Nice enough at the service desk but... Was the first client at 8AM (with an appointment) for just a tire rotation and was waiting for them to finish. 45 minutes later I decided to go see what was taking so long. It wasnt until I got up and asked that I was told that they need the wheel lock. When I peeked into the garage all I saw was 4 people standing around doing nothing. Im not sure if they were all mechanics but my car was the only one on the lift or looked like it was being worked on. Who knows when they would have come and told me that there is a delay because of the wheel lock. Wouldnt they know that after five minutes? Why not tell me right away? -Or why did it take 45 minutes to get to my car when I had an 8AM appointment and everyone was seemingly standing around with no other cars being worked on? Poor communication, poor service and no consideration for the people sitting and waiting for their vehicles.

Incompetent thieves.My cars struts were almost 20 years old and making some noise, so I decided to have them replaced. Since I had received a 50% off labor coupon for the replacement of two struts in an email, I decided to bring my car to this location. I purchased the two struts from pep boys and the other necessary parts elsewhere.After a couple hours, I received a call from Mike saying that the mechanic was having trouble removing a two nuts holding the strut assembly together. His excuse was they didnt have the proper tool to remove it and that nobody really has the tool anymore, which is a load of BS. He could have easily cut off these X nuts, being that they were being replaced anyway. Because of this he needed to charge me for TWO EXTRA HOURS!Obviously, Mike didnt feel like giving me the discount offered by the coupon. Oh, and btw, my car rides no differently after getting the new strut assemblies installed. I should have listened to the negative reviews. They temp you with what looks like a good deal and wind up still screwing you in the end.

Called desperate to see if they could look at my daughter’s tire before she drove to Florida at 6 am to go back to college..the tire light just went on. I wasn’t expected to have it replaced just looked at to see if there was anything wrong to make it unsafe for her to drive. She wasn’t helpful and borderline rude!!

I wish I had looked at the reviews to Pep boys before I sent my family to this place today. My parents came out to the Island to visit me and their battery died. We had to have the car towed Saturday 9/26 at 6:30pm to Pep Boys. They told us that there was no way they would get to it tonight before closing at 8pm, but they would look at it first thing in the morning. Although a battery swap wouldnt take that long the garage was full and we were at the bottom of the list when they closed in an hour and a half, so we took them at their word. With no hotel and limited space, my 60 year old parents slept on the coach.We returned today 9/27 at 9:45am. Mike the service manager and Justin another service tech seemed friendly and told us they were taking care of the car, so my father and I took a seat in their waiting room - thinking all was well. 11:15am, my father and I asked Mike if there was any update on the car. He nonchalantly told us that his mechanic put the car on the brand new lifts and popped the front driver tire. My father and I both asked why a battery change required a lift when the car and his reply was well we have to do that for all the cars. The mechanic started yelling at us that we all make mistakes instead of anyone saying sorry we messed up, but were going to take care of it. It was unbelievable. We had to ask him several times why the lift and Mike finally said for security reasons so the cameras can see the mechanics working on the car. However, a few minutes later Mike and the mechanic told us that they put it on the lift to check out a cranking they heard when they went to start the car. Meanwhile his tone while explaining was condescending and elitist. To add insult to injury, the didnt have a matching tire for the truck and they had to order it from Baldwin. Mike gave us a story that the delivery trucks only make one run on Sundays and that the tire wouldnt be here until Monday. He didnt want to accommodate us nor was he apologetic for his mechanics error that we now had to pay for. Then a few minutes later said the guy would make another run and the tire would be in around 2:30/3. He kept changing his story and what was happening. I gave him my number to call to update us and said we would be back around then to get the car. At 3pm we called Pep boys and they told us the car wasnt ready, but provided no other information. We got back to Pep boys at 3:30 and Mike ignored us. He finally acknowledged us and told us that the tire wasnt in yet. After a few minutes, he said the truck didnt come with the tire at 2:45 so he sent one of his own guys to go get it. Why didnt they tell us this at 3? Why didnt they tell us this when we first walked in? We were upset and agitated with the situation. He still did not apologize. He was defensive and aggressive. It was clear that we were stressed and upset about the situation as my parents live over an hour away and have work on Monday. He knew that he had control and was clear to show us that he had us in his grasp. The situation continued to be unresolved.Mike threatened us and said that no one would work on the car until 6pm and it would be here another day. He even said that we had been harassing him all day - when he only called once to check on the status and we left the store at 11:45/12 in the morning. 4:30 - still no tire and not being serviced. The mysterious crank in the car was never checked or resolved. Mike didnt even ring us up when the car was finally finished at 4:50! He had another person close the sale again with no apology - nothing. He was abrasive, demeaning, dishonest, and aggressive. I cant believe he is a manager and that other people on here have complained about him yet he is still working. The whole experience was a mess. I will never go there again, neither will my family, and now everyone I know here will not be going there so far I have 14 cars that used to use Pep boys that will never use them again.

Great service and great prices. So all I can do is up the previous rating since the Pep Boy chain is all I ever use.

Good selection of auto parts and accessories and they perform many car services. 6-19-17: Had oil changed, too many folks with same appointment time and Starting price on-line is unrealistic compared to actual price and could not be explained by service person. $33 labor charge is the reason. Did not perform included tire rotation. I did have opportunity to walk away but felt like bait and switch.

Brought my jeep here a few times to give them the benefit of the doubt and i still dont entirely trust anyone thst works here. My father in law and I hated this pep boys because we consistently had to come down here on several accusation for the same issue. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT!!! I told them about this issue and they said it was the Evap line. I said I dont want pieces cut out of the line I want the whole new line put in it. The mechanic at pep boys said he was going to put a new line in. He gave me different prices for the line ranging around 140$ plus the cost of labor making the total cost $ 260 dollars. A week later the same problem occurred again. They did a diagnosis and they said it was the same problem and That it was their fault because The had put a clamp on the hose that was to big. They also found a descended switch was bad. I took the truck and a week later the problem occurred AGAIN!!!! I brought it back to this pep boys and the truck sat there for 2 or 3 hours. Then the manager came out and said he wasnt going to try to fix the problem again and that it was my problem. And to just take it to the dealer and let them deal with it! In the mean time I out of $ 260 dollars with the same problem! Each day they kept my truck for 8 hours each day except the 3rd day they only kept it for 3 hours! ********* DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT TO MAINTAIN SANITY AND MONEY*********

I went into the Commack Pep boys and I had found the best help buy two people and there names are Robbie and Tyler. They had helped me with a muffler that was hanging. Its hard to find help like I had today keep up the great help. I will always shop in the Commack Pep boys. Thank You James

Just wanted to pick up windshield wipers.... i knew the sizes and picked them out. there was no one at the cash register to check out. I had to go on the line where people are searching for parts even though I had the wipers in my hand... 20 minutes to PAY for a set of windshield wipers!? Many people on the line grew frustrated and left... this store defies the basic concept of business.... this is the 3rd time this has happened at this store (for me) I will have to plan ahead and start using amazon for basic automotive parts

Every time i call for a part which is very often they never pick up the phone and the one and a lifetime chance that they do is when I already waited like 15 minutes. And then im on hold for like 5 more hours and the classic “wait one moment”. I have put alot of my business and needs to other stores and will continue to because they lost out.

Staff is totaly unprofessional, i went there to buy signal light bulbs, asked for help to one of their staff, Guy asked me about my car and model year everything, then handed me the bulbs, i went to house and try to change it, the bulbs are not even close to to light.again i travel back 10 miles and returned them back. Cashier was very polite and nice and apologized the mistake.will not go back again.waste of my time and waste of fuel.

I went to Change my oil and do tun-up of my car. I paid about 20% more than the initial estimate. I dont understand the fact tat the shop mechanic was working about 3 hours on my car and the shop charged me for over 6 hours for labor $120 per hour. The sells person told me that the mechanic finish my car sooner but they still have to charge mi for 6 hours work. I went there to save money, but an average shop would charge me probably 50% less for the same work

Made an appointment to have an oil change. One and a half hours later my car was still in the same spot I had left it. Had another appointment couldnt wait had to leave. I still need an oil change.

They lie about the time you should be there in the morning they made an 8:00 appointment me didnt get done all day I because the guy who did the testing on my car didnt get there on time I had to go back the next day to get my car and it still wasnt done

Brought car in last yr for inspection and to fix hood release latch. they charged me for both.. but latch was not even attempted to be fixed. I went to put washer fluid and could nt open hood. brought back to pepboys to get refund. i had to wait for mechanic who was rude for an hr. to look at the latch and took them an additional hr to give me my money back at register.recently brought for inspection. it passed. next day i had low brake fluid. we are talking 8 hrs after inspection idiot light went on.... i filled it up... the service guy told me because the car was sitting for a while it evaporated. so 2 days after the inspection my brakes went they told me it could happen. I now have been in hospital for 2.5 months from accident caused by brake line hole that they didnt spot on inspection 2 days prior. if you value your life dont go to commack location. apparently they have blind ppl doing inspections. the mechanics are horrible there. pep boys need to recertify their mechanics. because of their inability to spot a hole in the brakeline.. i was almost killed. Inspections consist of lights signals immissions tire treads and brake system ... well you failed to do your job!! caused me with huge medical bills pain and suffering and costly auto repairs... the sales ppl are okay in commack... but the mechanics cannot be trusted in commack pep boys. stavros at centereeach pep boys is awesome. i never had issues with him. always explains what prob is with your car and lets you know what to look for in future. they should just close down commack location or rehire the mechanics.i also had tired put on car in rochester location with no problems... i would vote negative 2 stars for commack location...if that was an option. i will never spend any money at pep boys again.
