Took my Sears Gamefisher because it wasn’t starting. Ended up deciding to scrap the thing and Barefoot Watersports was completely understanding and didn’t charge me.

Had pontoon boat for over 3 months. they claimed to have rebuilt the carburetors on my 90hp Johnson. Picked the boat up and went to the lake for Memorial Day. The only way to keep it running was to constantly push the choke in. didnt even get away from the dock. They claimed they lake tested and everything worked fine. Brought it back to them, they had to rebuild the carburetors again., they called and said it was ready, took it back out on the lake fathers Day weekend, and it had a major misfire at half throttle, and wouldnt even go at full throttle. So took it back AGAIN and missed the July 4th weekend, due to them not being able to fix the motor. Finally Bob called me and said they cant figure out what is going on with the motor, They had the boat from April 7th until July 7th. I went and picked it up and took it to another marine shop, dropped it off at 4pm that afternoon, 8:30 am the next morning, they called me and said they found the issue, plus they had to do some repairs to the carburetors, While I was picking my pontoon boat up at Barefoot watersports, Bob proceeds to tell me that he had 2 employees walk off the job. After all the lies, and overcharges, I dont blame them, I wouldnt want to be associated with them either. STAY AWAY if you want your boat repaired right. They will do more damage and over charge!

Had our boat here for almost 3 months and they did nothing to it. We had to call everyday to see if they had even evaluated the boat. Picked up our boat and had to go somewhere else.

Bob and his team have provided excellent service on our boat for years now. We have had his crew out to our home to work on the boat as well as taken it to their shop. He is knowledgeable and has helped me with simple fixes and advice when I have called.

Barefoot Watersports is a highly recommended boat service and maintenance provider. New to boating and NC, I’ve utilized Barefoot for many things in the last 12 months; used boat evaluation, winterizing, spring service, boat cover and a repair. Bob is always available by phone and has been patient in educating us. Greg has done the dock visits, maintenance and repair and definitely knows his stuff. For the recent boat repair, despite being in the middle of busy season, Barefoot was able to fit in my repair and return the boat fixed within 4 days of starting the repair. It involved a tow and other services. They have great relationships with supporting services such as towing and prop repair. These relationships shortened the time I was without my boat. Fair pricing too. All staff members are terrific. My go-to boat service provider!!

Please beware! I cant stress that enough. Get whatever your getting done in writing and quoted and even then be skeptical. When I got my boat winterize I was told it needed to be summerized before the boating season this year. I know jokes on me he could tell I was a first time boat owner, there is not such thing but even worse who tries to get over on someone like that? To top off going in for the summarize service (last month May 2018) I went to Bob the owner and said I have a idle issue. I said I had a full tune up in October last year with the spark plugs replaced, he said it may be the carburetor but we will check and do a oil sample and specifically said I will call you if I do anything over the summarization that will cost you. No lie, two weeks later I get my first call to tell me my boat is ready and my bill is $450.00. He had done the summerization (again the biggest joke, essentially hooked my battery up for $120.00) he had done a two hour lake test drive (100.00 a hour) and changed spark plugs, and labor. First he told me he would call if it was over 120.00- NO call. Then his shop is .5..... 1/2 mile from the lake and it took you TWO hours to crank it to see it didnt run right? Then you change my spark plugs that I came in saying were just changed 6 months ago? When I reminded him explicitly of our conversation his response was, Oh it must of been a misunderstanding. To top it off he wanted to charge me $750.00 to rebuild the carburetor, another gimmick. Shop around.. I got the SAME exact service for it to be rebuilt for $350.00. So not only does he not do right by the customer in numerous ways, he does bad business to make a dollar. DO not go here. Go down the road to Workhorse Marine, if you want honest, fair, and upfront customer service!

STAY AWAY!!!! They charged me $700 to replace a starter. I could have don’t this myself for $80. They over charge parts and labor. They are trying to get as much money up front without regards for repeat business.Find a shop what that has fair business practices and not one that screws you over.

Our boat broke down on Lake Norman and Bob came out in a windstorm to rescue us. Thanks Bob! Later at the shop, they repaired the leaky gas line.
