Always love coming into this shop. The staff is always helpful and professional, much more so than other unnamed big box guitar stores. The people at Sam Ash encourage you to at least try instruments or set ups in the store that you wouldnt otherwise play at home, knowing that there is no better opportunity than at the shop to figure out what you really like.

Brought my electric in because I thought it was sounding a bit twangy and wanted a diagnosis. Got a call from them a few days later saying they had looked over it but found nothing wrong or fixable about it and figured it was just old age. Now what other music store will give you that labor, honesty, and not misdiagnose to try to get your money if theres not an issue? Really appreciated the transparency here

The experience began with a phone call. I called to ask if they carried a specific instrument which I could not find anywhere else. they were quick to answer the phone and were very friendly. They took the time to answer my questions over the phone. That’s when I knew I had to go and check it out . The in person experience was no different. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful. I found what I was looking for, and more, but because of the experience I encountered, I’ll definitely be going back for all of my musical needs. Not to mention, the place was well stocked, clean and had an awesome atmosphere.

FALSE ADVERTISING AND BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE !!Item was listed as BRAND NEW, and was confirmed to be shipped. I later receive an email from John the manager advising me that the item was NOT new (display model), NOT shipped and had MISSING PARTS. I replied expressing my disappointment for the hassle, time wasted and lack of time I had to source the item elsewhere. Instead of their proposed offer of TAKE IT, OR LEAVE IT, I suggested a discount, which in reality is just good customer service. To which I was not offered a reply….I then called and spoke with Kelly who after speaking to her manager could offer a $100 discount when in actuality the manual and codes would cost $150. She again spoke with her manager and was able to AGREE to the $150 discount and instead refunded $142.40 and no explanation. It most certainly is not about the $8. It’s about the principle…Though unavailable, the item NEW on Amazon is $999. While here I am paying $930 for a USED, DISPLAY MODEL, with MISSING PARTS which they didn’t even consider discounting for the hassle and false advertising. Not to mention finally getting my item later then promised, poorly protected for shipping and in obvious used condition. Extremely not happy with the service at all. As they say “BUYER BEWARE”.

We took both of my son’s alto saxophones in to get check out after the previous school year. Cable was great as usually. He was able to do a checkup and make a few quick adjustments. We also bought a new case for his marching instrument. Lady at the counter was friendly and helpful. This type is service and great pricing is why we drive three hours to come to this store.

The staff at Sam Ash in Dallas were all very friendly and respectful; and professional. I sold an amp and some mics to them for fair value, and I also gave some stands and cords for their Veterans Donation program. Im not a player-but my husband was and I wanted his equipment to fall into good hands since he passed away. I trust I did the right thing and hope the musicians who get the stuff enjoy as much as we did. Thank you staff at Sam Ash Dallas!

I’ve been a Sam Ash customer for a while. You never feel pressured to buy anything. The associates are very knowledgeable, somehow knows what you probably need. Very friendly, easy check out, products are usually in stock. Five star experience!

I LOVE SAM ASH. I was in pro audio, and the selection was not as diverse as another not-to-be-named store (initials GC), but I got everything I came in for. Btw, they have their own brand of cables and connectors that were really affordable. And unlike the mask NAZIs at the other not-to-be-named store, I could shop without threat of criminal trespass and having the police called on me (they came) while at the counter with the product and payment in hand, and subsequently ejected without any ADA accommodation granted, though requested.

I made my first order...and it will be my LAST! They shipped the wrong item...would not ship the correct item...although they still had my money and the wrong item shipped back to them. After several weeks of no contact/unanswered emails...I finally got ahold of them. They then said they no longer had any of my item left...and wanted to know if I would accept a used item!!! At no discount!!! Never again...I got scammed.

But when the keyboard got here, defective right out of the box, and likely because Sam Ash staff dont take the simple trouble to pack a delicate electronic instrument in more than a thin cardboard box with minimal cushioning. What a rediculous way to do business. Never again with this company.

I am going to forever be a Sam Ash customer. I’d like to specifically thank Joe for exemplifying the spirit of Christmas on Christmas Eve. My family had just purchased and setup a new keyboard, but we didn’t yet have a dust cover to protect it. We were leaving town on Christmas Day for a week and didn’t want to leave it exposed to dust and dog hair for that duration. I called Sam Ash for its hours, and a recording stated that it was open until 7PM on Christmas Eve. I drove 30 mins from my home, arriving at the store at 6:30PM. The lights were off, and the door was locked. I was so disappointed to have driven all that way for what appeared to be nothing, wasting an hour away from my family on that special evening. The door soon opened, as Joe was letting a customer out. I ran back to the door, waiting for him to let the next customer out and asked him if I could run in to get this quick item. He replied that the registers were unfortunately already closed. I got back in my car to call my wife and let her know, when all of a sudden Joe knocked on my window. I rolled it down, and he asked me what item I wanted to buy. I told him I was looking for an 88 key dust cover, and he asked me to wait a minute. He walked back with the dust cover and told me Merry Christmas! He wouldn’t even let me pay him for it. He could have brought me the cheapest one they sell, but he brought be the best one they sell. Joe created a Christmas moment that you rarely experience and think you only see in movies. He made both my wife and mother cry tears of joy when I shared the story. Thank you, Joe, for a simple, kind, generous gesture that really meant a lot to my family. We will recommend Sam Ash every chance we get!

I needed a small accessory, a slide. Rock Slide is a newer brand and not the big name like Dunlop, so there were none in store. The associate promptly found it online, helped me size selection and had it shipped directly to my home. He said if it doesn’t fit correctly just bring it back to the store. I was not happy and then came back and was told I was misinformed a second time. First I went through the approval process. Got approved. Was ready to take my. Guitar hone and then was informed the financing sign that was stuck to the price tag had ended. It was not 36 months but 24 now. I told him I couldn’t do it and he said he could not do anything about it. I was sooo set on that guitar that I was in shock. I just walked out. Very upset. Well I talked with my wife and we found we could still afford the payments. That same day he told me several times it came with a hard shell case. When I went back the next day I was informed that there was not a hard case. I bought the guitar the salesperson said she looked and did couldn’t find one. So this was not a 5 star experience. Everyone was nice and the guitar is awesome. They had updated all the price tags I noticed when I came back. I just wish I was not the one to deal with the consequences of somebody else’s mistakes I feel like Sam Ash should have been more willing to make it better but I was offered nothing for my trouble. I drove from Justin, Texas to Dallas twice that’s 40 or so miles one way.Thanks Michael AbramsFollow up. 5-17-21Was contacted by Phil and he got me a brand new hard shell case. I appreciate that so much. They made me a returning customer! They did not have to do this.and it meant a lot that they did. I will recommend this store to all my friends. Thanks again Phil!

Unfortunately, due to my job, I dont get to or have time to drum anymore. I had a great set of symbols that were just collecting dust that I wanted someone else to be able to use. So, I sold them my used gear. While I was hoping for a bit more, I understand their need to profit from the transaction as well. Overall, I was pleased with the experience and Mark was professional and good at communicating with me.Regarding merchandise, they have an AMAZING and large selection of various musical instruments.

I waited at guitar center for an hour for help on purchasing a snare and other drum gear. Asked several times for assistance no one would help. Left and went straight to Sam Ash and was not disappointed. Within 20 minutes I had a bad ass snare and several other items. Dont waste your time going here if you appreciate good customer service! I went here to buy a (Left handed)Fender a few months ago and they sent me home without the whammy bar for it. Ive called several times and even went back up there to ask for one and they keep giving me excuses. Im still waiting for my call back after I called and talked for the manager. If I cant even get someone to call me back over something as simple as a whammy bar I wonder how they handle other more expensive issues. Customer service is everything and this store lacks it in every way!!!

I stopped in here while traveling through (driving) because of its being highly rated. Was not disappointed. The selection of acoustic-electric guitars was one of the best Ive ever seen, rivaling Fullers in Houston. I would up buying a Gibson J-45 that sounds great, with a good setup that includes nice low action and excellent intonation.

Incredibly helpful over the phone. I called to ask a question regarding a stereo setup of an old turntable and receiver, and while this is not in their realm of business, my question was answered by a very knowledgeable and understanding store associate. I highly recommend you spend your hard earned money somewhere else. The selection here is poor for such a large place. Customer service is non-existent. The staff knows very little to nothing about the products they do offer so you get a lot of I don’t know responses. Big stores like this are failing for these reasons. Way better places to take your instrument or to purchase a new one. This place sadly is a ripoff and a huge disappoint

I was there to purchase a guitar strap, there was a bit of confusion, some of the straps had prices that didnt match the barcode when scanned. There was a big difference between the posted price and the real price, no big deal opted for a decent strap and picked up some picks also, overall great experience, nice people and great service.

Really good experience. Their financing deal allowed me to buy a good beginner violin and fulfil a dream of learning it. I had trouble with the bow I received and so I went in person to the Dallas store and they took care of it in 5 minutes. They also tuned my strings and showed me how to do it myself. Do NOT give @samashmusic any of your money. I bought a Hartke bass cabinet from them and was told that it was on back order. I kept checking on the order and they kept telling me to be patient, Covid was delaying shipments. Six months later, they canceled the order and will not honor the price that I originally paid. I did not find out that the order was cancelled until I called them today. They want me to give them $150 more for one they now have in stock.

I have dreamed for years of owning a Selmer-Paris pro tenor sax like I played in high school, but couldn’t afford one. I contacted Sam Ash in Dallas and Kelly invited me to drive over with my trade in saxes and she looked online at other stores and found what I was looking for in Phoenix,Arizona. The trade in was almost even as all I had to pay was taxes and a small difference. Kelly went above and beyond in making my dream come true. I am now the proud owner of a Selmer-Paris Mark VII tenor sax, repadded and ready to go.

This location is awesome! We have taken our sons saxophone in several times over the years for repairs and tune ups. The entire staff is friendly and goes out of their way to assist. Cable, in the repair shop, is the best! He is skilled at his craft, provides amazing customer service, and does not nickel and dime you in the least. I highly recommend Sam Ash Dallas!

Went in with a budget of $600. Since I own a few guitars, I had been eyeing a couple online and wanted to play them at Sam Ash. Due to work and life schedules, I went twice to check out the guitars. I went in at 7pm after work on a Saturday and tested the guitars for 30min. I purchased strings and a few other items. Went back 1pm Tuesday, and was there all of 8 minutes. Two different staff came up, “Are you looking to buy a guitar?” Not wanting to have a sales pitch (like most everyone) I said I’m looking at a few. The second staff member came up and said I needed to leave. When I asked why, they said I needed to be serious about purchasing a guitar, and they have to “sanitize them.”Look, I get were in a pandemic. But first, your afternoon and morning staff should be on the same page and not treat a customer so radically different. I should not be forced to work with a sales staff to buy a guitar (like the lunch shift employees). I didn’t have that experience when I went in the afternoon after work and purchased multiple items. Those staff were more laid back.If you want to treat guitars like selling cars, so be it. I will never return to this location.

From the moment I walked through the doors, I knew I was shopping at the right place. All of the employees made an effort to make me feel seen, and the one that did my checkout did a great job with being knowledgable of the store, my needs, and how to make the process as quick & easy as possible, even going above and beyond. I have to say over the years Sam Ash has set my instruments up correctly and have never wavered on their commitment to customer service and quality instruments. Last Minute Larry here!!!!! Of course couldn’t find the big ticket item the kiddo wanted for Christmas and the next big thing he wanted was a Keytar. So I look online and see that some of the competitors had some in stock so the computer said. Went in and they notified me not in stock at store but at warehouse and would take like 2 weeks almost to get cause of the holidays and covid. So I thought I was doomed. Gonna have to give my kiddo all the gifts he wanted but the big ones. Came across Sam Ash website and seen they sold Keytars. I picked up the phone and called. Spoke to Mo (shout out to Mo) he checked stock and said I have some in stock. My kid is partial to red. He said he had one left. I asked can I pay for over the phone so it doesn’t get picked up by someone else. He said normally we don’t do it that way but I can hear u want and or need this, so yes I’ll take it over the phone. Mo saved my kids Christmas. He was a great guy when I came in and picked it up all the staff was great and Mo again just spot on a good employee. Went over the Keytar talked about lessons if needed and all the extras that my kid might want and or need with his new instrument. My shout out to Sam Ash and to their awesome employee Mo!!!! I went on Christmas Eve to try and buy some good music stands for church, but I knew that they would be a lot cheaper if I bought them online, but they wouldn’t be here for several days. Love the store overall. I sold a keyboard at the Dallas Sam Ash store. While overall, the experience was fine.........the only thing they could improve on is have a few more people on staff. The department I was in only had one guy waiting on people, and he did the paperwork for my sale in between waiting on other people,.......which took quite a while at times. From the time I came in the store to when I left was a little over two hours. I understand that he had to help other people, but dang.......thats a lot of time to spend for something like that. If one guy was handling my sale, I probably would have been out of there in 30 minutes.

Sam Ash has exceptional customer service. I have now purchased six guitars from them, including the ones for my kids. They got the kids accurately fitted, kept us within the price ranges I specified, and all were excellent guitars. The purpose of writing this however is to recognize how they truly care about their customers. After a short period it became obvious to me that my prior injury kept me from playing the beautiful Taylor guitar I had selected. I was very concerned about dealing with a return because they’d been closed for some time due to Covid. Despite the time lapse they took care of my problem by returning my guitar and helping me find a stunning new Córdoba. This guitar suited my needs perfectly and allowed me to play at a much improved level. They didn’t have to solve the problem this way, but their managers and staff should be commended. I’m a committed fan and will continue to support the Dallas store by always shopping there first. The guys there love music and instruments in general. Thanks!

I was very impressed with the Dallas, TX store. It was just like everything you saw online they had in the store. The staff were helping me and not trying to sell me something I didnt want, and very professional and courteous. The inventory was incredible, they have everything. My new favorite music store.

After having a number of bad experiences with the other guys in town, I can safely say that these guys are the best music store around. The Dallas location features professional, courteous, and knowledgeable salespersons and a fantastic selection of top-name gear. If youre a musician, or looking to become one, I wouldnt recommend going anywhere else.

I purchased a Martin D28 from the Dallas store. Austin was my salesman and he was awesome. He located the guitar I wanted out of state and had it shipped in. Awesome store, great selection, knowledgeable staff and I’ll definitely buy from them again in the future.

I dropped in on a Saturday looking for an Epiphone 12 string, which they had in stock, but it needed a setup to tighten the truss rod. I paid for the guitar and setup, and was told it would be there Tuesday. On Friday, I finally succeeded in getting through to someone, only to be told they thought it would be there Tuesday. I asked to cancel the order, they said that they wouldnt refund my money until we get it back in the store. IVE NEVER TAKEN IT OUT OF THE STORE! Still waiting for the refund to show up at the bank.

I bought a Taylor guitar from Ben G. and he was very helpful. He showed me a few different guitars and explained the different in the sound between the different brands. Let my husband play on as many as he needed to be able to make a decision. Would definitely go back and see Ben again if I need to purchase anything else.

I’ve gone to Guitar center my whole life whenever I needed anything but when I went this last time the staff weren’t helpful and when I told them that a few of their amps didn’t work they shrugged it off. Stepping into Sam Ash was a world of difference. Phil was super knowledgeable and consultative with helping me find the perfect amp and actually had input but also left me to test everything out. I’d 100% recommend going there for your next gear acquisition. Thanks Phil!
