Service was fast. Premises were clean and they adhere to COVID guidelines pretty well. The positives end there.Food was of sub-par quality. Falooda was especially bad with partially melted crunchy ice crystals in it (Freezer Burn).Papdi chat got soggy very quickly. Had to leave it half eaten. The sev puri we ordered was not crunchy at all. The sev had a mildly stale feel and the puris weren’t fresh. The sauces were runny and lack taste. Less than ideal experience overall.
Loved this place! Good eatery if you are missing Indian snacks, sweets and chats. Love it.. Best Chai! Kept me awake during those 4 hours drive at night.
Home away from home... or at least the kitchen is. They have a wide variety of dishes available including South Indian, Gujarati, ‘Indian’ Chinese etc. Also offer a whole lot of sweets and namkeens. The portion size is good, something to be taken into account while ordering. You may like to end your meal with a Indian Pan.
Pani puri here is tasty and you get to eat it just like you used to back in India(they have a dedicated pani puri stall). Kachori chaat was ok.The restaurant was clean, however the noxious body odor coming from the staff at the counter was disgusting. Staff hygine should be kept in mind when running a restaurant.
Outside of the sweets, the regular food was just okay. Edible but definitely not a place I want to come back to anytime soon.
Fresh food. Decent place to go with family for the experience of Indian street food. Sweets are delicious.
This location of Gokul sweets has been going downhill. We regularly get sweets from them but the last two time, the Malai sandwich tasted like burnt milk and the second time the rasmalai was hard as rocks. It was probably old and stale and we needed up throwing the while box away. Even their Pani puri just seems like packet masala mixed in water. They do have the best Chhole bhature though, I think that is all we will be coming here for. No more getting sweets from them. Disappointed
OMG What an Awesome place with good Taste .Reminds me of India❤️.We Stayed in Atlanta for a week and we came here Three times I guess. We tried their Fried Rice, Chole Bhature, Mango lassi, Dosa, Tea and Chaat.all are so tasty. If you love Indian food and want to know the real taste of India, you should definitely come here.
Good place for Indian food. Not the nicest setting, but good staff and food make up for that. They obviously have lots of Indian sweets... which are yummy.
Been coming here for a couple years - samosa, biryani rice & bhindi masala are the hit!
The great service whether adjusting the music, to thoughtfully bringing the food to your table, makes the dining experience uplifting. Enjoy 😊.
Paradise for veggie lovers great selection for Indian sweets highly recommended loved thier live panipuri stall in the evening
The masala dosa is my go to order and it never disappoints, the paneer tikka masala is also amazing. Probably my favorite restaurant in Atlanta, just wish they were a bit closer to midtown so I could go more often.
Absolutely worst experience. I have been a regular customer here since 3 years, but today I placed an order to have it there and waited for half an hour. The server said my order will be next and can come anytime soon. But I waited for another 45 minutes only to find out that my order slip has been not passed into the kitchen. Then they said they’ll get it in 2-3 min and brought me frozen food, which was clearly right out of the freezer since it had ice. Instead he tried to argue that the dish itself is frozen. Honestly, I had the same dish over 30 times in 3 years in their place. They didn’t even bother to offer an applogy when I asked for refund. they refunded quietly and didn’t even apologize for my 1:30 hr time wasted or offered to set it right. Never coming back there again. Sorry to say this, You lost a regular customer.
Their food is great, and so are the sweets. The place is really busy and masks are a thing of the past here. They even don’t keep a row empty between patrons. Take outs should be safe or you could dine in if you feel comfortable.
Decor and ambiance is poor but I can look beyond that as unfortunately many desi places don’t look the best. Food however was also tasteless and disappointing, we ordered Mysore Masala dosa and masala dosa, the potato bhaji was so bland and devoid of any flavor! The same applied to the coconut chutney and Sambar. For the kids, ordered sweet corn soup which was also tasteless, not even salt was added and it was served scalding hot. The fried rice was too oily and like the other items had little to no flavor.Overall a total waste of time, money and effort!
We had their Kaju Katli. And it was one of the best I ever had! Would definitely recommend to others.
I always love the pani puri and we buy snacks 😋
Good indian sweet. Nuts are spicy and nice. Indian dosa and chaat is good.
ATL is lucky to have a Gokul Sweets in town.Overall the food at Gokul is solid but the one dish that my family and I love is the Pani Puri. The reason we enjoy it so much is because its basically like a stand back in India, it also helps that the lady who served us was super nice.Pani Puri is bursting with flavor with the different spiced waters - you eat it whole and when you bite into its just a ton of flavor flowing in.Check out this awesome experience you can have in ATL - but fair warning this is for advanced Indian food eaters.. many friends of mine who love Indian food have tried this and thought it was too much so perhaps start with one before you get a whole order of 6!
Not good restaurant and sweets are so old, next time neverever visit and I suggest dont visit.
I wish I could give them negative stars. I ordered coffee and it taste like sheet. I wonder why they are not permanently closed. I noticed one thing that Indian restaurant lack good service and quality in order to make extra easy money but they forget that word of mouth and non verbal review makes a huge impact on audience.
One of our favorite Indian restaurants in Atlanta. The food is consistently great and very reasonably priced. The restaurant also follows good Covid-19 safety precautions by enforcing masks anytime except when seated and also offers prompt pickup for phone orders.
The food is generally good, but the rabadi is a huge disappointment. Rabadi is made by slow boiling milk and adding spices and sugar to give it a creamy texture with fats. Instead these guys appear to use store-bought condensed milk like milkmaid, throw in some nuts and cardamom, and refrigerate it. And they charge $6.99 for it. Huge disappointment. I wish they mend their ways in this matter. If youre selling something like rabadi it will need to be boiled down and creamy with the malai and all. This condensed milk thing, I can make it home in 10 minutes. I dont need to come to you guys for that
I have given them 4 stars, only because of the reason, that they sell something exotic (indian street food) which is not so common in USA. Must try if you are indian, visiting this town. Their panipuri, sevpuri, dahipuri, gobi manchurian dosa etc are good. However, few dishes (bhelpuri, papri chaat) are extremely bad. An wide variety of sweets and snacks are available. Also, you can get paan. Over all satisfaction is medium. This is a vegetarian place.
Yesterday we bought club sandwich with other items, it seems sandwich bread is stale, me and my wife both had upset stomach, usually they serve good food but this an exception.
Today we ordered Gokul special chaat almost boiled taste very little chutney and curd. Papdi chaat same. Maisur masala dosa- no taste in potato bhaji sambhar was like boiled daal halwa. We threw more then half everything like trash. Please try to improve your quality of food and taste.
Food is good. I usually order the paneer 65, and paneer tikka Masala. Very tasty. My only complaint is that sometimes they give you far more sauce then paneer in the tikka masala. Other than that, service is decent. Desserts are okay. If ordering dessert, I would recommend the galub jamun.
Amazing chats variety!! Must try.
Super delicious Indian food. All vegetarian. Didnt get a chance to try the desserts but cant wait to go back and try but fast service and fresh and flavorful.
Food taste good. Need to keep the place more hygienic
Feels like authentic homemade food..Their sweets are amazing..must try if you are in the area.
We went to have snacks in saturday evening at Gokul Sweets. We ordered Sev puri, Ragda Patties, Dahi Vada and Faluda. Our order came in 5-7 minutes and it was quick.Sev Puri: Sev Puri was the best of the lot and one of the amazing dishes we had in Gokul Sweets. 4/5Ragda Patties: Ragda Patties was a disappointment and we didnt like its taste. 2/5Dahi Vada: Dahi Vada was okay but nothing special about that. 3/5Faluda: Faluda was another disappointment from the last time we came. We loved the faluda last time but this time it was a disappointment. 1/5
All the food here is great!! We enjoyed many of the nice chaats they have. They even make Pani Puri fresh to order, which is awesome! We also got the channa batura and the Puri was HUGE! And everything again was really delicious! Dont go for the South Indian varieties though, because thats not really his speciality and it doesnt have a high turnover so I doubt its very fresh.
When you want to have panipuri in the US, but you also dont want to make it yourself out of a dish, instead you want it served to you one by one ( the good old Mumbai experience). Please do visit here. Delicious and hygienic pani puri, also available is all different types of paan for those interested. A good ol Farsan Mart in Atlanta
Food quantity is good than where we live..they offer large menu which is good either...but dining area needs to be clean..
Best snack for Fafda and jalebi
I have to say, the hot food is delicious (I visited a couple months ago). They also have a good selection of sweets and good customer service. I gave two stars because it seems the fried platter was not fresh. The fried platter was not very crispy and I ended up getting an upset stomach and throwing up after eating it. If it wasnt for that, I would have surely returned because the food is very good.
Very unclean, and we didnt like the food. Not recommended.
My favorite dishes are Pani Puri and Iddly Sambar. I wish they bring back the Jain dish Pav Bhaji. Family owned business that has probably fed a million people over the years.
I had really bad experience at Gokul Sweet today. My mother in law who is pure vegetarian so choose Gokul to eat out. When I asked if they put garlic and onion in the somber they said they don’t. But I ordered Kadai Paneer, they didn’t even mentioned that onion comes with that curry. After receiving food and eating few bites, my mother in law discovered onion slices in the curry. So I went to order counter to let them know. Girl from the counter told me I don’t know sir, they may be put it in there. When I asked the gentleman next to her he said we can make it without onion, if you have told us before hand. So my question is, you guys should have been very attentive what customer wants, because I already asked if onion and garlic comes in the somber. Which means I don’t want onion and garlic. I do agree I made a mistake by not asking the question, but I was expecting an apology for not getting what I wanted. I would never come back to Gokul anymore as there are many many restaurants in that mall. Hope nobody have to face that kind of service as I was embarrassed in front of my in laws. Not recommended to eat out at that place.
Great food!
Authentic Indian food. Vada pav is my favorite. Rasmalai box, malai barfi, kaju roll was too good. Definitely value for money
This is our third visit to Gokul Sweets. The food here has been consistently good. When we order chapathi for parcel especially, it remains soft and tasty until the next day! There are a few fundamental problems, however. The cleanliness standards here are very low, and the bathrooms are quite frankly disgusting. Tables are not too clean and neither are the floors. It fails in terms of ambience.Another major issue is the lack of social distancing. It is not a large store and tables are packed together. I felt very unsafe in the restaurant. Finally, there a few rare times when the food also has problems. This time, we ordered a paneer tikka masala. It was a burning red in color, as a result of intensive and unhealthy food coloring. The taste was very mediocre as well.Come for the food and the food only.
The food is not bad but the service sucks. The employees here have been rude the last 2-3 times ive ordered from here.
Negative Five star worthy frozen food
Decent sweets, chola batura was great, please don’t take Badam milk, it’s watery and stinky.
Only went for the sweets section but it was pretty good. They were helpful when I asked what things were and served us pretty quick. PACKED on a Saturday so Im assuming food is really good too. Not too expensive either.
Great food at reasonable price.friendly atmosphere and helpful employees.sometime they are very busy and could not pick up the phone .
Great food and good service
This is a pretty authentic place to get Indian food. Their sweets selection is really good too. For food, I highly recommend their Ragada Patties, Samosa Chaat and Sabudana Wada.
Really good Customer Service, Product Quality & Taste.
Very very long wait time.
Superb dabeli
Chats are excellent. Sweets are Ok. Tea is good.
Sweets are good not great, but chaats are not that so good. Their Duluth store is better at chaat.
This place is bad! The food is definitely bad but their sweets are even worse! Ive been to the Gokul in Duluth, and the two are not even comparable. Theyve perfected the art of selling stale sweets and inedible food. Wonder why they arent permanently close yet.
Best saag paneer of all time
Food is good but they always put on hold on call
One of the best sweet in AtlantaI definitely go back
I purchased tray of samosas for our house. These samosas were re-fried few times. They were not fresh and were dripping in oil and un-edible.
Sweets is good. But, the food is not good. We tried it once a year ago and the taste was very bad and was kind of stale. We tried again last week and got food poisoning. For parathas, they heat the frozen paratha and serve, which is very unhealthy and bad.
Great place. Just so much to choose from. If youre not familiar with items, tough luck. Not sure how some restaurants are required to post nutritional data but not others. The food is good too. Service is good but not patient. Dont have too many questions or dont expect detailed information. IGo with an Indian that will walk you through the fare.
The best veggie spot in Decatur, also great Dessert aka Mathai!
Clean and tasty.
The worst jalebi and ladoo i had in my life. They people should change their name to Gokul chats. chats are good enough.
Very bad n nasty food I eat in my life food has no tast at all thats food is not close to Indian tast dont want youre money 💰
Had a good experience. There sweets taste really good and mostly fresh. There food is good and reasonable. Good place for desi comfort food.
Super crowded on weekends. Decent food, fast service. Not much in the way of ambience because of the crowd but a good place to get a quick of authentic Indian street food. Sweets are excellent.
Sweets looks delicious but not the flavor. We bought few pounds sweets but flavor taste wasnt what we was accepted. Sweet flavor was weird, I always eat sweets; So, I know whats sweet flavor. Price was lil high than compared other sweets store here. Not going back there for sweets anymore.
Honestly speaking low hygiene practice as we were having lunch yesterday on the womens day with my girls the housekeeper was sweeping the floor with broom and the poor service no warm space to eat though ImIndian and love Indian food and their quality foods are awesome my point is poor hygiene and service very very poor
Love the sweets
I like some things only! Because most of then are really spicy. There is one think called cheese dosa it is very nice. They should improve the place.
Ordered some chat and was so cold. When told the cashier, he said it’s usually cold. It was not the first time we ordered and we know how it taste. Worst customer service. The service is going down and also taste of the food. It’s not the same as it use to be.
Nice place
We have been regularly eating here since we moved to Atlanta. Service is great and food is the best in Patel Plaza. The ambience is absolutely Indian. Great variety of sweets and snacks too.
We had an incredibly disappointing experience. When we first went up to the counter to order, the person who was taking our order wasnt even properly listening to us, and was in fact ignoring us and talking to another person. We had to repeat items we wanted 5 times for him to finally realize we wanted to order that. When we sat down, thats when most problems occurred. After an hour and a half of waiting, of the 7 or 8 items that we ordered, we only received some of them. Only Manchurian and Sandwich, which werent anything that special. When we went back up to the counter to find out how much longer our food will take, the person at the counter told us that the chef wasnt even in!We were still fine with that, and waited and waited. and then proceeded to wait even more. When my aunt and mom went up to the counter for the 3rd time, the person who was taking our order FINALLY told us that the items that we ordered werent even written down! And proceeded to then blame it on us, saying that we were talking amongst ourselves and not even ordering, when that wasnt the case.Youre really going to make a customer wait for almost 2 hours for food, and then accuse us of not knowing how to order? We finally decided to pack the 2 dishes that we got and left, leaving one of the younger girls with us hungry. Thanks, Gokul!
Good food. Fast and lovely taste. Chat items must try . Loved it. Will visit every time I visit my friends at Atlanta
People who work here got some attitude very rude and bad customer service not shopping here again
Good food but I don’t understand why they’re using styrofoam plates/bowls/cups when it’s so bad for the environment. I’m sure it would be better for them to buy steel plates and wash them. They’d save money and prevent unnecessary waste. Also, it could be cleaner.
Thali was ok but chat papdi was yummy
