A spring broke on our garage door and we couldn’t get the door open. Midstate in Mount Zion, Illinois was here within 20 minutes and opened the door so we could get to an appointment on time. They replaced both springs within an hour and the door is working great. Their services were reasonably priced and done quickly to our satisfaction.

Called for a quote which seemed to be a unique situation to me for what I was wanting yet they came, listened, gave multiple options and recommendations. Ordered a garage door OPENER through Lowe’s and Handy found Midstate to install the door. First appointment, took time off from work to be there. No show. Second appointment, had parents here to let installer in. Installed door opener WHICH IS ALL THEY WERE HIRED TO DO! Installer took it upon himself to install 8 new rollers and brace bar ON GARAGE DOOR without explaining to myself, nor parents what he was doing, NOR THE COST. Mother signed for the installation of the door OPENER, not extra, which she wasn’t even aware of. When I got home, bolts were on the garage floor, no idea where they go or came from. Received a call from them that I owed $40 for the rollers and brace bar, which I never asked for. They also sent the bill showing my mother’s signature, which was for the installation of THE OPENER and threatening collections. Maybe I should go wash their windows and charge them for it, just because they need it. I will never go through Lowe’s installation, nor EVER use Midstate Garage Doors again. If this is how a business makes their money, they should close. Very unethical.

4months and 47 emails later at $9000 work finally got 3 doors installed with broken glass in 2 of the doors. Jeff is the worst there is. Then we get the invoice sent to the wrong email. Haha. What a messed up company. Well theyll get paid in 4 months and 47 emails in the future.

These guys are AWESOME! Old garage door fell off track due to bad rollers and spring. Midstate came out immediately. Thought for sure theyd try to push me to buy a new door but not at all. Explained exactly what had happened, gave me options and if anything, they recommended the option that cost the least, which I was impressed by. I just really felt they genuinely had my best interest in mind. They guy that came out was very nice, professional and you could tell he knew everything there is to know about garage doors.Ive referred Midstate to friends of mine when theyve had issues and theyve had the same type of great experience. One friend went for a new garage door and wanted something elegant, havent seen anything like it. Their entire house got a MAJOR curb-appeal boost! The guy who put it up for us well very polite and informative on how the system operated. They left NO mess behind which is rare for most places lol. We called Midstate Overhead Doors about a garage door having split at the top. The next day their salesman came out and we discussed putting up two new doors and having a third adjusted and some things that were incorrectly installed originally fixed. He explained to me that for less than a couple hundred dollars (each door) he could make our doors good as new and it would be a much cheaper option and hed be able to fix it within one week. We set an appt up so I could be home and they would come out. They know showed no called. I called the next day and left a message and nearly a week later called again and was finally told it would be the next week. So now were three weeks in and they no show no call again. It finally was fixed (they did do a good job) I believe close to the month and a half/two month mark and I dont know how many phone calls and missed appointments. Several months after the repair we finally receive a bill for double what we were originally quoted. The bill is itemized and it contains everything we talked about and no additional work. So I contact them and asked what changed to add the extra expense. The owner called me back rather quickly and said he would get back with the sales rep and see what changed. Several months later I get an email asking what I thought it should have been. I explain that I didnt have an idea (other than the original quote) and was questioning as to why it has doubled. The response was well its still cheaper than if you would have had new doors put on and it will last a long time this way. And with the work that was done that is what it cost.

The wood where the door attaches to the wall had split and door was inoperable. The 1st person said, Youd be better off with a new door. After 2 days called them again. Theyd lost the paperwork. After 2 more days 2nd person comes, took enough measurements to launch the space shuttle. After several more days I get another estimate of around 800 dollars. 3rd guy comes out, same thing. Finally went to Menards a got 2 pieces of wood. Fixed myself 10 dollars.Then I get a bill for 60 dollars. The rude and insulting rep. said it was a service call, not a free estimate as promised on their website and I should have asked for one. On all 3 occasions; no one did any work.Ask yourself (with 118 cases in court) is this who I want to do business with?As of March 2019 they are up to 125 cases in Macon County. If you get an estimate from them: DONT SIGN ANYTHING!As of November 2020 those awesome guys are up to 130 cases in in the Macon County courts alone.

Had new garage door opener installed 3 months ago. Wanted a light bulb in the opener, installer says they dont carry light bulbs as its the homeowners responsibility for the bulb. Thats fine, I ask him to take bulb out of old opener hes replacing so I can place in new opener as it is a working bulb. He says he broke it when taking old opener down. Ok, he breaks bulb and doesnt carry bulbs - not too happy but ok, I can deal with that. I put a bulb in since theyre so hard to come by for this company apparently.I ask installer for the bill so I can pay it. He says hes just an installer and doesnt deal with the billing. Ok, fine, Ill wait for the bill in the mail. A month passes, no bill. 2 months pass, no bill. Get a phone call from the company stating bill has not been paid. I told them I never received a bill to pay but will pay it when I receive one. Another month and a half passes and still no bill. Now after approximately 4 months, I receive a bill from a collection agency for a bill of close to $600 for a single, small door opener. Unbelievable!!I will never use this company ever again nor recommend them to anyone for their services.They should get zero stars but at least the installer showed up so they get that much. Terrible office work on their end.BEWARE!!!!!
