My husband came home with some wood for shelves. He forgot to ask if they gave a military discount, so I called and explained that we already paid, but that he didn’t ask if they do military discounts before checking out. I spoke with Jack. He was unbelievably kind. Told us to send our receipt, and my husbands military ID, and that they would fix it. I was blown away with how understanding and nice he was. They didn’t have to adjust the price as it was our error. They definitely have customers for life with us.

Love Austin’s! Gorgeous wood and staff is super friendly and helpful! Have been in a couple times recently and there are always people ready to help show you the ropes because it is confusing if you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for. Their selection is much more extensive than other places we’ve visited. People who complain about price in other reviews must not be educated on what lumber costs these days 😛 Can’t wait to go back for more wood for our renovations!Update! Have been here a couple more times and can’t rave enough about Roy out in the lumber area. He helped me for 3 hours in the burning hot sun to find 4 perfect pieces for my project. Then, when I came back for a replacement piece that my Installed cut too short (ughhh 🙄), he helped me find that piece too insuring that I got exactly what I needed. Between him and Rick in sales, I feel like I have some pals to help me whenever I visit Austin’s! I’ll be back again and again. Thank you guys!!

This is the best lumber store that Ive been to along the front range, especially for a DIY woodworker. I drove up from Colorado Springs yesterday to purchase 250 Board Feet of various lumber species because their costs and selections were much better than CO Lumber. The staff was very helpful, especially Roy. They bring out pallets of the lumber that you want and they allow you to pick through the individual boards. Since I didnt have a helper with me, it would have been difficult for me to unstack, select and restack the heavy lumber since I needed wide, 8/4, 10 boards. Thankfully, Roy gave me a hand and he saved me a lot of time. The selection and quality of their wood is outstanding. For a small fee, they will even mill your boards to S3S, which was totally worth the extra cost for the long, heavy boards since it will save me lots of time. Best of all, they give a significant military discount which helped offset the higher sales taxes in Denver. I strongly recommend this store and I will definitely do a lot more business with them in the future.

Great selection and good prices. The staff in the front of the house is top notch, and above all they treat my little girls like princesses, giving them candy and compliments (my girls visit often with me and love the place). The back of the house is on point also, with getting the orders filled promptly, correctly and friendly service. Overall Austin hardwood is as quality as the products they sell from tools to woods, and and I will continue to shop here and very highly recommend Austin hardwood.

Prices are high right now for lumber. Staff is friendly enough but purchasing wood is a somewhat odd process thats pretty unfamiliar to newbies and staff wasnt necessarily the most helpful with making my picks or finding what wood would work best for my project. Still Ill be back for the next one, they offer wayyy more than home Depot and other lumber yards recommend them when they dont have what youre looking for.

We have so many options today. We should support businesses that take Care of the customer. Which is why I won’t be buying anything from Austin Hardwood. I am not the only one who doesn’t shop at Austin. Reputation of not caring about the customer is the Austin way. Ask for Chris the GM

A bit confusing the first time, select your wood, tally, then order sheet goods, pay then pick up your sheet goods. Their selection is amazing with live edge slabs cycling through and just about any kind of hardwood and all the tools(festool) to work it.

They are consistent on quality and variety in lumber selections, dependable in hours and days open, and geared more toward the contractor / bigger companies. If you are not accustomed to being their process and are a one time a year type of customer looking for DIY etc, it will be a very long and frustrating process.They will drop whatever lumber you may need out about 100 yds in between covered storage ports and leave you to sift through the pile of boards to select the ones you want. And when you finally flip an entire pallet of lumber to find the perfect boards, you must neatly put back onto the pallet or face a fine. I can appreciate their old school mentality. If it was easy then we would all do folks.

Stop shopping around and just go here. Prices are a bit higher than big box stores but they are easily justified. The quality you can get for just a little more money is astounding, they have just about every kind of wood in just about every shape and form.Their customer service is INCREADIBLE nothing like what you will find at a big box store. I am a newby to wood working who just needed a few sheets of plywood, they treated me with the same enthusiasm and respect they gave to a seasoned pro buying 1000s worth of wood.Dont be like me and wait years to finally go in this place, just go, you wont be dissapointed.

Austin Hardwoods is the non-big box place to get high quality specialty wood products in southwest Denver. Its a little intimidating to find your way around on first visit, but the show room is also where you can place orders for larger items in the warehouses. The selection of lumber products is immense once you realize your way around. Staff are available at the order counter and can help you find exactly what you need. In our case...nine sixteen-foot lengths of pre-primed shiplap.

Really friendly staff, and a great selection of domestic and foreign woods, including hard wood vaneered MDF and plywood.

I love this place. My availability to do projects has dwindled over the years, but any time I need quality lumber, Austin Hardwoods has the best. Ive been trying to fix up our house to sell as we are moving soon and needed some quality 1x12s for a stair skirt. I stopped by the orange box to much dismay as their 1x12s were knotty, rugged, and wavy enough to probably be their own skate park. One quick stop at Austin and I walked away with pre-primed, smooth, straight boards that should make my project a breeze. Whether you need rough sawn, surfaced, or sheet hardwoods or beautiful trim or amazing slabs or butcher block these guys have you covered and more. Sadly, my upcoming move will take me away from Denver, or else Id be a customer for life. Give them a call or stop by for their superb customer service as well. It always seems like I find someone who has done the project Im working on and they are great at helping you find what you need.

Called to ask about a million questions about wood for a desk - the staff was very helpful and gave me options and quotes for different budgets over the phone. When I went in person, they recommended something perfect for me and provided knowledge about how to best stain that particular piece. Extremely helpful and kind staff that made buying a piece of wood a very pleasant experience.

This review is based purely on a phone conversation. I called another lumberyard that is much closer to my house and the gentleman was very unfriendly and sounded almost annoyed with me asking if they carried a certain product. I follow Austin Hardwoods on IG so I figured I’d call them. The gentleman I spoke with was very helpful, gave me suggestions, etc... As a novice woodworker, I really only want to work with a company that understands and is patient with my knowledge level. I’m willing to drive the extra 20 mins to check them out based solely on this.

Loved this place. I have never been in a lumber yard before. Went in for a small purchase/project. Staff was so helpful and friendly from the minute I walked in the place, not only in the showroom, but the warehouse as well. Prices seemed very reasonable. Highly recommend.

What an awesome place! First time going here and I was amazed. The guys in the warehouse were awesome. I have to give a shout out to Mike and Kevin. Both helped me and were great! Patient with my questions and very helpful. Not sure what the problems with the counter people are that others have mentioned but I didnt have any. Omar helped me and he was cool and down to earth. Because of those 3 guys, I WILL BE BACK SOON!

Im just a hobbyist woodworker, but the staff still takes the time to take care of me the same as if I were a contractor or professional shop.Multiple staff members approached me to make sure I found what I needed, the store is well stocked, and prices are reasonable (for hardwood in Colorado, anyway!). Weve always had a great experience here. Helpful and friendly people, great selection and decent prices. The beetle kill we purchased was a little higher than some of the super cheap places but was easily made up for with the ability to pick our own pieces and space to lay out what we wanted to design the look.

The front counter sales associates are kind, helpful and very knowledgeable. This obviously makes for a great transaction. I highly recommend Austin Hardwoods for their wellspring of information regarding their products; and for their great customer service!

Staff is friendly enough, But they tend to get a little cranky if you dont know the lingo. After a trip or two in asking dumb questions I have it figured out. Originally I thought pricing was high, as a 3/4 sheet of CDX Plywood was nearly $60. I have called around since and found that for this material it was about the going rate. Turns out that I have expensive taste and good wood costs a premium. They are open Half Days on Saturday, so that is nice.

What a bunch of sleazy business people and horrible customer service.Tried to bring them my business and they would not give me anything other than insanely marked up prices until I had my business validated. I have been a cabinet builder for 20 years and have never been treated more poorly. I am standing there ready to buy 200+ sheets of plywood and they want me to fill out paperwork to prove who I am. Screw that. I can find my materials elsewhere.And if the manager, who would not come out of thier office to discuss how they do business, reads this, feel free to contact me.

These guys had exactly what I needed for some home furniture projects. Their staff was very friendly and helped me pick the right products for my needs. They even provided some recommendations to save me some money. As a new customer there, they were great at explaining the process (pick out boards first, get a ticket from the warehouse guys, then come back in and pay for that and any sheet goods, take final ticket to get sheet goods and everything else loaded). Couldnt be easier.

Hands down this is my favorite place to shop. Everybody treats you with the utmost respect, and are the friendliest bunch. Dont just take my word for it though, go see for yourself!

Last week my mom and I went to Austin Hardwoods to look for boards to build a fireplace mantle. From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted by everyone with a smile and dealt with very respectfully. We were honestly expecting to be treated like dumb women because that seems to be the norm when frequenting building supply companies - always talked down to because we dont understand the terms used or because we ask too many dumb questions. I am happy to say we were 100% wrong! The first person to help us was Jack, who was working at the counter. He explained how the inside stock is laid out and where we would go to find help with the stock out in the warehouse. When we ventured to the warehouse we were greeted by Rick who took us under his wing and showed us around. He offered to do a lumber pull for us so we would have more boards to look through and explained the entire process to us. At one point when I needed to call my husband and explain what options we had available to us, Rick politely excused himself to give me privacy, but stayed close enough to us to answer any additional questions I had. When I told Rick I needed to think about it some more he was very supportive of me taking my time and told me to just ask for him when I returned, but that all the employees would be equally helpful if he was not available.We returned the next day ready to buy the boards I needed, and when Rick saw me and my mom he jumped to get someone working on a lumber pull for us. Within a matter of minutes we had a whole pallet of boards to look through and were given space to take our time to be sure of our choices. As we were finalizing what we wanted, Rick appeared again with another employee named Dave who took over helping us by getting straight edges cut and the top and bottom planed to the thickness we wanted. While Dave was taking care of the boards, Rusty helped us at the counter getting everything paid for and then explained where to drive our van to be loaded, adding Just drive back there like you own the place and they will get you loaded up! When we drove into the yard, we were greeted with the thumbs up sign of approval from Rick, and then Dave loaded our boards up and we were on our way.From beginning to end it was a positive experience, and I will be sure to return when I have another project to build. Thanks, guys!!!

Great store for getting wood, shop supplies, all things to do with wood working. The one downside was that it took a while to go through the process of picking it out, playing for it, and getting it milled.

I have been buying my lumber here for about 2 years now consistently, there selection of hardwoods is above all other suppliers in the state that I have found and they always have a huge selection of each species. They way they have it layed out is on point, if you just need a couple boards you can go inside and itll definitely be in there or if you need a large order you can ask to have it pulled and you can go outside and grab it, but above all the customer service is fantastic. If I could have put 10 stars I would have, the guys at the service counter are all well trained and extremely friendly, the management is top shelf and the guys in the yard are great and helpful everytime as well. Ive been to other hardwood dealers in Colorado and there good, but this place is great....trust me.

One of the best selections of hardwoods, veneers, millwork and speciality woodworking tools in the Denver metro area. I found the sales associates to be friendly and helpful. I did not see much in the way of framing or paneling products, but I wasnt looking for these items.

They really go out of their way to please, even for a small purchaser. My thanks to them for trying so hard to fulfill my rather picky small order. This is the kind of thing that brings people back.

The selection of hardwoods is decent, but the workers are not helpful in the least, even rude. I will not be wasting my time with these guys anymore. Ive found that if I go to Paxton instead, I get better prices, better service, and less traffic as well!

I went here for a custom top for entry table. The glass one broke during a move. This business is obviously for more commercial customers, but they gave me a good price and made the table top as I wanted.

TIRED of dealing with Rusty. This guy is a real piece of work. Every time I call to check on whaT they have in stock he cant help but be a sarcastic you know what. Today I called to check on their selection of crown molding. I knew exactly what I was looking for and asked very specifically do you have single cove crown molding? He respond with we have lots of crown molding what do you want, well ahole as I just said, SINGLE COVE CROWN MOLDING. He cant help himself. Maybe hes got some kind of social disorder. But theres no excuse. Either he owns the place or hes somebodys son because I cant fathom how he keeps the job where hes allowed to pick up the phone. This was not the first time Ive spoken with him but it is the last. Boy they sure do suck. And their selection isnt special.

Great place to get all of your hardwood needs met! Helps if you know what you want but the staff was very helpful and I could pick through their lumber at my leisure as long add I put the stack back together once I was done.

The customer service at Austin Hardwoods is absolutely repulsive and is borderline customer abuse! Do not step in their doors unless you are prepared to be accosted. There are plenty of Reputable Hardwood suppliers in Denver so that You do not need to go to this horrible place! I am a lifelong Custom Home Builder and in all the years never even close to being treated this bad. I now understand why they are not rated on BBB.Prior reviews claiming very good or excellent rating are employees of the Company that were paid to write reviews. I would rather shoot myself in the foot than ever step foot inside this grotesque place. Very Poor.
