Marvelous record shop! Visiting Denver from Ohio for a concert and wanted to poke my head in for a second. Ended up staying in there for at least an hour. Great selections, new and used. They were even kind enough to offer sending it back via postage, because I wasnt sure how I was going to bring them back on the plane. Definitely checking Wax Trax Records out again when Im in Denver!
Good selection, but staff isnt too friendly. Probably gonna spend my money elsewhere. Plus only business in town that still requires you to wear a mask
Called em to see if they had an album, they said they did but they dont hold items but its a new release so they have a ton dont sweat it. I drove an hour to get there and surprise they didnt have it. But they were listening to a classic Fall record so, theyre cool right? No big deal, just a huge waste of my time. Next time Ill order it online and have it mailed to me.
It really needs help. someone to come in and make it like it used to be. Im sorry, but it seriously needs cleaning and organizing . it could be cool again
I had all of the wax track releases back in the day but never made it to the original shop. Great store with tons of new Indie, rock, blues, metal and a separate store a couple doors over with a great used selection. I’m usually jaded being from Austin, we have some great record stores. But Wax Trax is the real deal, and friendly staff to boot. Highly recommended.
Great record shop..always a must when going to denver
Soo many records. I could easily spend a ton of money here. They have two shops, one for used records and the other for new ones. The most stocked and diverse collection of records. Definitely worth multiple trips!
This is the place to get that record you did not know you needed. Love their huge selection and the comments they write attached to some of the records they feel passionate about. Yesterday it was Record Store Day and they have live music.... perfect day!
Classic music store with new and used tapes, cds, and records. Since the 80s theyve carried all the interesting stuff, local bands, alternative, punk, unique stuff. It has a independent, old school vibe. One of the best.
Nice record store in the Denver area. Larger selection of records than you would expect. They do have a separate building for used records. Only genre that really seemed lacking was the reggae selection.
Amazing selection of music with a great set of staff. They are knowledgeable and have no issue going out of their way to find you what you are looking for. You cant go wrong with Wax Trax, I will most certainly be back to expand my collection. Thank you for a great experience, yall made my day.
My favorite Denver shop. Feels real and they have good taste. Great service! It’s a smallish shop so there are times they don’t have something specific and obscure but I always start here first. Thank you!
Fun flea market on Sundays. Cool vintage clothing available there from Curators of Cool
Ive been buying vinyl record albums from this place since the 80s. Great selection, helpful staff and theyve been in the same great location for years. Theyre used vinyl section is always full of gems you just have to dig to find em. One of my favorite places to buy music in Denver!
Out of towner stopping by to check out the vinyl. Huge variety of old and new records. Definitely a must visit for the vinyl lovers.
I will love Wax Trax Records forever. I grew up shopping there and now my kids are doing the same. The staff is kind, I never leave empty handed because they have so many great records to choose from and they are in a great location.
Dig deep in these racks....the used side, the new side, the books side. Heaven.
Best record shop around. Bar none.
Amazing selection, great prices, and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Not to mention the Lemmy mural is amazing! Ill be returning here real soon to blow another paycheck!
This record store is amazing! Incredible selection!
Reasonable prices, great selection, awesome staff. Top notch record store.
One of the best record stores i have visited, great selection, and prices, used stuff, there is something for every music taste, a must if you go to Denver
Great selection of records new and old. Really good prices too. I could browse here for hours. The staff was really helpful with any and all questions I had, and I left with exactly the records I wanted. I could spend a LOT of money here, easily, and get a lot for what I spent. I will definitely be back.
If you want a selection this wide and this overpriced, you can use amazon.com without having to wait 20 min in line and with no time limit on your browsing. I understand due to its popularity and the pandemic this is a necessary restriction, but if you want a substantial record browsing experience in Denver, head to Chain Reaction.EDIT: Also some attitude, as others have noted. Im reviewing to look out for customers, not your business
Iconic record store that doesnt disappoint!
The best place to buy New Vinyl!
Not sure why the employees here are so rude. Love supporting local businesses and cant wait to take my money to a different one from now on!
Had what I wanted, with good help from the staff.
Good options and have a seperate store for used records so if you prefer one or the other its very easy to find what you want
I cant believe Ive never been to this record store. Super varied selection and very friendly staff.
I love this place ... one store full of new vinyl and one full of used. If you love vinyl ... Wax Trax is dangerous. Consider yourself warned.
Sent me a damaged record. I returned said record and they never issued me a refund. Blamed it on my email “falling through the cracks”. Ended up having to dispute the charge with my credit card to get my money back. Seriously the worst customer service I’ve ever seen.
Awesome as its always been for all the decades I e going there. Found 6 used vinyl albums in great shape and talked with cool like minded people while there.
Great selection of new and used. Great spot
Great place in a cool neighborhood.
You should by and experience how a record should be. Enormous selection, very comfortable place.
Great record selection, awesome customer service, great prices
Best eclectic collection and one of Denvers last vinyl stores.
A wonderful small record store! #ShopLocal
This is my absolute favorite record store in Colorado. Ive been going to it for 30 years. They have rare items that you cant find anywhere else.
Was not impressed. While their selection was decent, some of the records felt over priced and was accompanied with a bad attitude from staff while purchasing. Better off at the used shop next door, whether they’re owned by the same people or not, they were way nicer with a much cheaper selection.
I went to the used store vs the new and it had a very large selection to choose from. I wanted to go to both stores but ran out of time. My only complaint is there wasnt a whole lot of punk albums and no ska at all that I could see. Overall great store, helpful employees, and outrageous selection. Would reccomend for sure.
Ive dealt with this business more on the phone than I have in person as I live in Kansas. They are always happy to help me on the phone if possible. I have actually been going here for years whenever Im in Denver. Just one of the greatest record stores here in the Midwest. I would highly recommend.
The staff and owner were super helpful when my cousin and I had our frist record hunting experience!! I want to thank everyone for being so friendly, you guys helped make our Christmas extra special during such a difficult year!
Large selection of new an old, and hard to find music 🎶, great, great staff, helpful, knowledgeable, courteous, moderate prices, convenient location to downtown
Great place to find all the old classic rock stuff and punk rock stuff lots of good shirts and albums
Wax Trax Records is the real deal, its everything a great record store is supposed to be, in fact, if you Googled record store images Wax Trax would be at the top, if life were truly fair and just. If you were curious about what record stores in the late 70s, early 80s looked like, Wax Trax is a perfect example, a rare living thing preserved in amber and impervious to the passage of time. If youre looking for relatively obscure reprints of rock, roots, rap, soul or jazz records and CDs, Im sure youll find them here. This is a place that deserves hours of attention, theres a lot to go through here. Highly recommend.
I highly recommend checking this place out! They have an amazing selection of metal records......many obscure, almost impossible to find, records. The best part was everything was extremely reasonable on price. Most of the records I bought were 15-20$ cheaper than ebay and other online vendors. Thanks for an awesome experience Wax Trax. I will definitely drop some more money with you in the future!
Very good selection and just nice vibe in general. Will be back for more!
Always has been the best record store in the state! They have now put every single record into its own plastic sleeve and are dousing the entire store in hand sanitizer every 30-45 seconds. They have gone above and beyond in order to protect us all, while not allowing for that slim chance we all would have lost our minds in silence... No, they are still providing the sonic enlightenment we all need!-Michelangelo Bruneau
Probably spent more than I should but they had everything I needed.
One of the two record stores we drive down from the mountains to go to. Great selection, friendly staff and chill vibes 🤙🏻
OKAY. SENT ME OVER TO ANOTHER PLACE AND I GOT ALOT WHAT I WANTED. THANK YOU FOR THE HELP.
I love this store been going for years and years. Got a few really cool gifts for friends this year which was awesome.
Best record store ever!!
Huge selection! Especially of rock albums
Oh, just go in and get some music already! They have everything you want, and some other things that you didnt even know you wanted but will love
Great selection and knowledgeable staff. Always a good experience!!!
Good selection of records and misc music and alt paraphernalia. Only complaint might be the pricing. A bit costly for records
This place is totally cool....!!
Wax Trax is a tried and true record shop. The faded posters from a bygone era, creaky wood floors, and reasonable prices coalesce for a great digging experience. They recently split the shop into a New side & a Used side which works really well. Definitely worth checking out!
I wasnt there yesterday till store. Closed
Very limited capacity. Be prepared to wait!
Great customer service and good social distancing measure to keep everyone safe.
A Denver establishment that has survived many waves of change throughout decades. If you cant find it here, they might have it next door at their sister store dedicated to used.
Very good record store, and its one of the few I know about. Good selection that gets updated often and has good prices. The staff are usually nice and quick to ring you up. The store isnt in terrible shape itself, and they have records from every genre. My only complaint would be that sometimes when you come in they play songs that are annoying or bad, but even then thats only some of the time. Very good place.
Best record store in Denver. I find something special 90% of the times I visit & am not too disappointed if I walk out empty handed because I know Ill find something next time.
Wax is my go-to! A Denver institution. Not the quickest on new releases, but eventually they’ll get stocked. I still go here for new vinyl but it’s also one of the best for used vinyl as they really specialize in it. Doesn’t hurt when they’ve been in the game for as long as they have. Including supporting some incredible Denver bands back in the day such as The Young Weasles. And I should promote this probably but... this is the best option for RSD.
Love this place and their support for local indie music! Support local music. Support small businesses!
Great service and very helpfull and friendly employees
Solid as they come for records, CDs, books/comics
A little on the higher end when it comes to pricing but they have a great selection and awesome customer service. Check it out
Rad, helpful staff. Great vinyl selection.
Wonderful little gem with an expansive selection. Saw plenty of records here I havent found elsewhere. Must visit if youre a punk fan. Ill surely be back.
I really dig this record store. Very chill. A huge selection of everything from The Fugees to Black Sabbath to the Talking Heads. Pretty good cassette selection too! Prices are very solid. New and used stuff, and the guys working were super helpful and not snobby.
I don’t own a record player myself but have been here a few times with friends. I appreciated their COVID protocols (it’s not easy to have a store these days) so I knew immediately where I was going to go to pick up a few cassettes foe a friend.
Cool place, foud something Id lost hope of ever finding.
Great atmosphere, great selection, and I love that theyre always spinning something rather than playing Spotify over the speakers.
My favorite record shop! They have a wide selection and its just a great place. 10/10 would recommend
I went in with a super vague request for some great background acoustic/instrumental music for someone special, and while the gentleman’s name escapes me, he gave me all sorts of options and explained each one in great detail so that I could make the right choice. Fantastic spot and will be returning ASAP!
Wow! This might be the best vinyl shop I have ever visited. I was visiting Denver from the UK and Im so glad I found this place: better than any music shop in London even! I could have spent all day in here. As someone who loves British music I was very pleased to see many vinyls of bands who went largely unnoticed in the USA such as The Jam and Joy Division- and I was able to pick up a limited edition vinyl at a price cheaper than in the UK. Loved the selection of T shirts as well- and they all come wrapped around a free used vinyl which you cant see until you open it. Worth going to Denver just for this shop.
Very helpful and forthright people. We had some old 78s that we found and wanted to sell them. Wax Trax was very upfront and explained that there is not much demand for 78s. They also explained that 78s are made of shellac rather than vinyl and dont hold up as well. They tried to find a buyer for us, but werent successful, but very nice about it.
Wax Trax is great ive been going there since the earlier 80s stay up wax trax I try and support yous any i get a chance i get ive bought so much awesome hard to find stuff there over the years
This place is packed full of great vinyl. The prices are very reasonable.
Ive been coming here since high school, over thirty years ago. It kind of has a holiness for me. It looks the same and smells the same (like a beloved record collection). Theyve never stopped selling vinyl and I love that theyre being rewarded for that fidelity. Tremendous selection of used and new with knowledgeable and kind staff. Ive heard them spend considerable time helping customers figure out what theyre looking for. Theyre an institution.
