Really one of only a handful of places in mid-Iowa that has such a large variety of mostly Asian imported food and beverages! Can’t speak to the fresh fruits/vegetables/fish but all the packaged goods were well laid out. My go-to for Asian chilis, curry pastes, snacks, and drinks! Weekends are super crowded so it’s hard to navigate the small aisles- I’d recommend going on a weekday if possible.
Customer service is non existent. My cashier said no word and wore his hoody up. Very surprising.
This store makes available foods difficult or impossible to find at other stores. My favorite items there are spices, rice, and vegetables.
This place is supposed to be open till 9pm. I got there at 8:40. Doors were locked and guy was a register counting money. I sat in parking lot and saw 3 guys walk out of store at 9pm. Real nice. I drove clear from Waukee because website says its open till 9. I guess employees just close when they want to. Ill never go to this store again.
The best place in town for that niche fix. They have all your asian favorites and some things in bulk such as rice. Woks are cheaper than most places and they have other delightful doo dads to pick up. Fresh fish and other meats as well. Lots to pick from inside. Not a great side of town be sure to wear your mask and lock your car and enjoy the experience.
As a person from Asia, C-fresh is my home away from home and my number one outlet for comfort food. Noodles, instant soups, vegetables and the like make this a fantastic grocery store.
This place is awesome! It has so much food! It has a lot of variety and a lot of interesting products. The employees are very friendly and helpful. I seriously recommend visiting this store if you are like Asian food and snacks. So many tasty discoveries!
Biggest varieties of Mexican Chinese Japanese food things that you would not expect in Iowa but you would expect in those countries and cities I suggest going there and just to look even because youre going to be surprised at some of the things you find there that you will never find in any grocery store and all their meat and fish or out you can see them theyre not dropped up you know and that theyre the whole fish eyes everything you know tell I mean that you dont find at a grocery store so I suggest going in there it the stuff looks great and the people own it the people that work there very polite and very nice to talk to thank you have a nice day and visit C Fresh Market because they have excellent stuff and an excellent variety. I was surprised and very pleased thank you.jl
This store does have plenty of authentic Asian fruits, vegetables, and meats. The aisles are a little tight and price tags are poorly placed but it is a fairly clean store. My one complaint would be that almost all the fruit I got there was rotten, so that was a pretty big disappointment. Overall its the place to go for real Asian foods, just dont expect great organization and be prepared for spoiled food.
Clean, well organized, affordable store. Great deals on healthy items, if you are dieting and exploring different types of food, (go here) legit cheaper than Amazon in some cases.
Always an interesting visit. Lots of stuff to look at. Prices are typically appropriate. The restaurant portion of the store is take out only. I highly recommend this place
International store located in des moines Iowa, everything you wanted from different countries produce, kitchen appliances and more, friendly costumers service and they go beyond their job
Awesome place. Good grab and eat food best selections. Resteraunt is phonaminal, Pho: tasty as ever. Good market and fresh seafood from the far east. Thank you.
Love this place! One full aisle of chilis. 20 varieties of coconut milk. Pasta youve never seen before. Vegetables an Iowan never knew existed.50 lb bags of rice. Mung beans! And 10,000 OTHER things Ive never heard of.Maybe 5 items that have ever been advertised on TV.
Love shopping CFresh. They have an excellent selection and variety of foods. The 515 restaurant inside is amazing (try the Bánh Mì). Highly recommend you check it out and discover something new today.
C Fresh is the largest Asian supermarket in DSM. There is a large selection of produce that are all reasonably fresh. The aisles are all well stocked with various Asian products and there is even a small Vietnamese restaurant within the market (Pho 515). The parking is quite large and market is conveniently located near several freeway on ramps for easy access by car. For a Chinese supermarket, C Fresh is definitely on the clean and bright side. The staff are all friendly, even though most cannot speak English.
Finally an Asian food store where I can find Korean food products I have been missing for more affordable than buying online. Prices are great, produce looks fresh.
I enjoy this Asian market for the all the things that I can not find at local markets
This place is amazing. You cant get most of this stuff anywhere else.
Didnt like this place at all, I asked one of the attendances if they sold fresh pineapple, he said know. I turned around there it was. Some of there food item there is no English translation for price, not a friendly place. I want go back, and yes he spoke English.
Not bad. They renovate interiors
C Fresh Des Moines is like Double Dragon when it comes to getting fresh food for cooking. With all kinds of beef, chicken, pork, fish and more, you might be confused about what you really want. For me, I enter, walk straight up to what I planned on buying, put in my basket, and up to the cashier. Am done. Mask is mandatory... But its also available for 50c, just in case you forgot.
Theyre so nice here! I forgot when their closing times are and accidentally went into the store right as they were shutting down. They let me grab the things I needed before they locked up that night. I was able to make some kimchi that evening because of them.
Huge selection of comfort foods! Still not the candy we were looking for, but lots of other options
Look, heres the deal.... they have everything from the east you could need or think of. HUGE noodle inventory, fresh fish, now they even have a section dedicated to my Spanish dietary needs.Heres the only things that kinda irk me. The aisles are very narrow. Im talking toot toot beep beep somebodys backing up. Your customers could use some room to step back and view without being ran over. It was very busy when I went so it was trying at times. Lastly, Im sure its ok but I almost feel like the meat dept.is too dim and not cold enough. I cant prove the could enough part but can the lighting part. Aisles like the meat aisles really need to be bright in my opinion. Not oddly dimmer than everything else.
C fresh is one of the best Asian market in des moines. We can get some of Indian groceries here like varieties of dal. Lot of noodle items and snacks are available there.. We see fresh vegetables and prices are little less compare with other stores. We can buy fresh fishes and meats. We usually buy gold pampano, goat and organic chicken here. They will clean and cut the fish and meats themselves. It is so helpful for us. Inside the market PHO 515 restaurant is available. We can get soups, grilled duck meat and juices are there. They taste so 😋 yummy. I really like c fresh market.
Has a good selection of food products that you are not able to get at the big box grocery stores.
Bomb limeade seriously. Food is great too. Excellent prices
Good selection, friendly, helpful. Fresh produce
I enjoy the search and discovery of new things and generally people are very friendly and helpful when you have questions
Best pork belly in town
The only grocery store in Des Moines that rigorously enforces mask wearing. If youre concerned about safety, make C-Fresh your first choice grocery store, and then get curb-side pickup at other grocery stores for things you cant get at C-Fresh. Plus, best prices on produce!
Love this market. Will be doing more shopping here for sure.
Great prices and selection of meats
The BEST Asian market in town! I reccomend this place to anyone who will listen.
I hope the employee over there was more friendly
Good place to get food and cooking products from many countries. Its just a little dirty sometimes.
Best place to get fresh produce, meat, begetables, imported products from Latin America and Asia. Always find what i need and at a good price.
I absolutely love this store! They are especially conscious about making sure all customers are wearing masks, and the hand sanitizer is always filled and available to customers
Excellent place for asian and latino items
This store is cleaner than most Asian stores, however, if you go in the back of the store, they do have fishy smell and bloody meats thats not 100% clean like Hy-Vee or Fareway. The shelves are way too close to one another. 2 carts cannot go though. There are way too many things they are trying to sell, but not enough room to place it all. If Im not mistaken, they are trying to expand. They do have a very good Phở restaurant.
I love this store.
Fresh Asian vegetables, good price.
This store have a multiple choses for an overseas items, Pretty good for rare Asian items and the occasional good deal
Clean, professional, organization, Good price. Good parking, helping, smilling
The go-to for Asian groceries. I drive out of the way just to come here.
Good supply and selection of ethnic foods at good prices. Definitely the best asian market in Des Moines. It is not the cleanest and it is difficult to navigate through as the aisles are very narrow.
I really enjoy this grocery store and the atmosphere. The prices are great.
Fresh foods with wide selection
I can always find what I need here! Lots of vegan meats here, including a crab (and its awesome!). The prices are wonderful, I can get a can of jack fruit for half the price of any other store, and there is also a brand of coconut milk here that is only 99 cents a can. They have bulk rice, in a lot of different kinds of rice and different sizes of the bags as well, which is great for me because I like to buy bulk but I dont need a 50 pound bag.The store has a bit of a smell, but thats probably chalked up to the meat counter.
Great selection of vegan items including frozen seafood.
Good food and products
Wonderful selection of groceries! We travel 1 hour just to shop there!
Just love all the great bargains they have.
Don’t judge a book by its cover!!! My mother was shopping and decided to purchase lottery tickets as well. When asking the cashier about purchasing lottery tickets the cashier’s response was “you can not pay for lottery with EBT”. He did not ask my mother what her method of payment was, he just assumed. As much as I get tired of most things being centered around race, the truth is what it is. If that question is not asked of every customer, why my mother? It is my hopes that she never patronizes this establishment again. But being the forgiving person that she is, she probably will.
Great for for lots of different cultures.
NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL!I did like to come to this place, and I spend more than $1000 in this store until one thing happened. I brought two whole durians from them, but after I open it up, one of the durians is totally sour and racid. I ask them for a refund or replacement, but the only thing they say is that we do not, we do not, we do not. Am I asking to much for a bad durian? NOOOOOO! But they do not care about customers at all! After all, this place is not a safe place to buy food, and they do not provide enough customer services, so do not go there, FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE!THAT IS FOOD SAFETY ISSUE!
Big store. Lots of selection. Great having different Asian and Mexican options all in the same place.
This place is one of, if not the, best ethnic grocer in town. Great selection, great prices, and most everything is often in stock no matter what your looking for. Fresh veggies, fruit, meat counter and tons of snacks and drinks to boot.My fiancé has been shopping here for years and only has only ever had good things to say.Grab one of their banh mi that they make in house, they’re delicious.
Very low good meat the best supermarket
Great selection of international food. It tends to be really crowded though.
I hate the way they handle the customer. I dont kmow if they are trying to dissatisfy on purpose. They will never listen to you when you ask them to cut meet in such a way. I was really surprised that these guys does not even know how to cut a fish. The fish tasted bitter because they did not clean the galbladder and they actually spilled the inside of galbladder on the meet pieces. I am not going to get meet from here anymore.
The good:Clean storeBright lightsNo funky smell (looking at you Double Dragon). The bad:Many items without pricesVery few English speaking employees.Of the 6 employees I spoke to, only the cashier was friendly.
What a huge Variety!
Well my wifey ( Dana James) is making me some ham & beans for my Xmas dinner.. only store that was open bought 2 onions our daughter needed one as well.
Goo selection of Asian food and supplies
I was there to buy some fresh cat fish and other ingredents for my pepper soup.
Very wide selection love this place
It is very good fresh sea foods.
Wish the restaurant was open. Great food in there.
Good selection of Asian food. Theres roasted duck/BBQ pork and a pho place inside the market
Dont know what half the items are but I luv this store. Great kimchee, veggies, baked goods & restaurant.
It was great! Plan to go back regularly!
Very bad experience this happened more than once. Some are Very disrespectful employees asked for my personal phone number multiple of times. Very bad will never come back again!! Train some of your employees how to communicate with the customers in a respectful way.
I go here for Pho 515. Delicious Vietnamese food.
C Fresh offers a wide selection at affordable prices. USA Today recently named C Fresh the best independent grocery store in Iowa.
I just moved here from the east coast and I was glad I did find 99% of what I needed (I did not expect to find Taiwanese bok choy but they do carry it). Agree with others that the aisles are narrow and prices not clear. The only things I would like to complain are the ice cream and beer selections, really wish there will be more choices (maybe the bubble tea ice cream bars :D)
They have more and more items.I wish they had more African stuff
Always love the fresh produce and meat counter as they will have lots of items used in international cooking. Look here first!
Nice selection of stuff. Definitely one of the largest oriental markets in Iowa.
Great market for ethnic groceries. Fresh fruits and vegetables, butcher for regular and unique cuts of meat and fish.
I can buy a lot of Vietnamese food here
C Fresh is my favorite store for Asian groceries, with the best selection I’ve found in the entire state. I’m a transplant from Southern California, and C Fresh gives some of the Asian grocery stores back home a run for the money!! A key deciding factor for moving here to Des Moines was the presence of an international/Asian market close to my home, and C Fresh doesn’t disappoint!! As they prepare for their expansion into the former home of the neighboring Evelyn K. Davis Center, I’m eager to see what they do! So far, they have kept the main (original) per of the store pretty much the same. Aisles packed with all the Asian grocery staples your heart could desire! Fresh produce at reasonable prices, including more obscure items you won’t find at Hy-Vee, Walmart, or Fareway. If you’re a novice cook wanting to try your hand at a new Asian recipe that calls for ingredients you don’t have, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO! Staff are helpful, many of the folks working the checkstands are able to point you in the direction of whatever you are looking for. Prices are reasonable throughout the store, but some areas do not have prices clearly marked. If you’re uncertain, don’t hesitate to ask an employee. I’ve never had an issue getting a price check on anything there. Stock can fluctuate at times, especially with frozen items during busy times (lunar new year, etc) so plan ahead during these times. They have added new checkstands that are much nicer than their old ones as they begin remodeling/expanding. C Fresh is my favorite store in Des Moines, and I’m so glad they’re growing to meet the needs of the community!
Great place to shop for the items you miss from over seas. Theres a nice selection of produce. Massive selection of spices and a decent selection of kitchen ware. This is one of many stores in Des Moines.
Love the sesame seed bread
We love this Asian supermarket. They have an awesome selection of many different kinds of produce and products from several Asian countries. Also, the have a fresh meat counter where you can have seafood cut for you. On top of that, there is a Chinese restaurant inside the store with tasty food. If you like bubble tea, definitely try it here.
Love the roasted duck and golden pompano 🐟
Good and nice store
Should be the standard all grocery stores should match. Only wish it was closer to my small town.
Great food in restaurant
Really like the place but they could use a little more cleaning
They changed it a bit and more cleaner than before
Great selection for multiple regions of the world. It is much more focused on a variety of Asian cultures but there are products from many other regions as well. They have a great selection of reasonably priced meat and fish. They also sell a type of freshly baked Vietnamese bread that is to die for. Its often used for making sandwiches but I have to buy extra for everyone to eat on the car ride home.
