Tacos and ice cream, need I say more. Excellent traditional tacos. Flautas were extra crispy. I loved that I could also get Mango too!

I travel to Mexico 6 or 7 times a year for work. This was my first time visiting but was taken back home to my travels with great service and truly authentic Mexican food, drinks and ice cream. I cant say enough good things about the tacos I had, just like those from my favorite little stands and restaurants off the beaten path in the Bajio. Definitely a gem in the Des Moines community. I cant wait to explore the menu!

My husband and I decided to try this place since the Chinese restaurant was closed for the day. We got the $2.99 margarita and split the grande combination and it was enough food for the both of us. Service was very good and the food was excellent! Would definitely come here again and highly recommend it!

This place is delicious and actually cares. My company placed a large order (10+ meals) and I noticed that they checked each box of food against the ticket to make absolutely sure they didnt miss anything. Ive not seen many other places ever do that. The order was 100% correct and fresh and great! A hidden gem that deserves your business. This place is so good!! They have a ton of options for food and they offer ice cream as well. I have tried numerous things on the menu but keep coming back to the michoacano tacos. They are street style tacos - aka small tacos. I can eat 3 or 4 and be stuffed. Ive never had something here I didnt like. Definitely try them out!

The best authentic street tacos! They have quite a few in house hot sauces that are all equally incredible but each has a wonderful flavor of its own. The cheese empanada is delicious. I have not found a better or more authentic and consistent spot than this place! My absolute favorite!

I came here to eat dinner after picking up my pc at a computer repair shop and this was something cheap and very affordable nearby the area. I had some sopes and they were very tasty given their pricing. The restaraunt itself has that local restaraunt charm where its kind of small and quiet, but the people are friendly and you dont feel to far from home.

Went here for the first time tonight. It was $6 for a large chorizo burrito and fries, which were incredibly delicious.They have several vegetarian and vegan options, as well as ice cream and custom drinks, which I will have to come back to try.The staff was very pleasant, and the food came out quickly.There is only seating for 25 or so, so not great for large groups.

The food was good and mostly authentic, and the staff was friendly and patient with our questions.There were two things that hat kept me from 5 stars. First, the nachos had yellow cheese sauce...like convenience store or ballpark style. Second, the horchata. It was not bad, just different. Rather than ground cinnamon it tasted like cinnamon oil or red hots. I think they take some shortcuts.With that said, the empanadas and tortas were very flavorful.But seriously...if you want a side, get the fries.

Honestly the food is great. But the appearance of this place inside and out is not A-1, the only reason I came is because I was recommended by a friend. He said they had Michoacan food. They don’t they have Mexican food. But not Authentic Michoacan food. Unfortunately.Also not much of a variety of ice cream like other Michoacana ice cream shops.I think they should focus on one thing and they will do great. Their food was great like I said.

Good service : I had the Chicken Sopes ; you get 3 of them over order. I was able to feed 3 . Their specialty are their flavored waters: Agua Frescas, That is the least to say because everything in this place taste good.

Not only ice cream, this is a hidden jem, awesome horchata, down right sexy cubano sandwich. Mild to spicy, hot to cold, if you leave this place hungry, or not satisfied, its your own fault.

Heard this place was good so I dropped in for a look. The place has amazing food, made with authentic flavors. The empanadas and tacos Carme de asada were out of this world. We tried the carne de asada fries and WOW!Definitely a go to from now on. Very interested to make my way around the menu.

I just got a to go order from here after a friend highly suggested it. We got 2 different burritos, some tacos, and fresas con crema. Everything we ordered was absolute perfection. Easily some of the best Mexican food in Des Moines, and the surrounding area. Staff was incredibly nice as well. I will definitely make this a new regular spot.

I will never go anywhere else for Mexican food! El Michoacano is delicious and worth every penny. As a bonus they have a full vegan menu that has all the same awesome flavors. This is my go to spot to show off the neighborhood when we have visitors.

The best place in Des Moines when it comes to quality mexican food, refreshing drinks, and ice cream. If you are vegan, i strongly recommend the Vegan Torta con Sabor de Pastor or the Vegan Sopes. The people working there are wholesome and care about your order.

Stopped in here because Ive heard its really good. Ive got to say, this is the most authentic Mexican food Ive ever had since we were in San Diego! We ordered tacos, a Mexican sandwich and nachos. Everything had such a robust flavor, we cant wait to go back and try the ice cream.

I came here due to the enormous vegan menu and was extremely impressed. My friend and I both ordered the vegan pastor burrito and it was fantastic. They have vegan meats and even vegan cheese available. Great customer service and we received our order very quickly. I will for sure be coming here again soon to try the rest of the menu.

Had the vegan tacos today for lunch and they were excellent. The ingredients were fresh, vegetables crisp, seasoned exceptionally. I was shocked the amount of vegan options available. Try the Paleta Kiwi 🥝- Kiwi Popsicle. 😋 Three ingredient frozen yumminess! My taco order was prepared quickly, included two delicious sauces, and was very filling. I would highly recommend eating here. In fact I’ll be returning again today for dinner!

Unique flavors and lots of variety. Had a coconut milk drink that they had obviously bought an actual coconut and cut it up themselves. They care about their ingredients and flavors.

I’ve never written a review for a restaurant before but I am for this place. Amazing food. They offer vegetarian AND VEGAN options. They have vegan soy meat and vegan cheese to sub onto any entree. Service is always quick, they answer any questions you have and they are very friendly. The cook even came out our first time and suggested a dish to make vegan. Which was delicious (carne asada fries). Also Amy is the sweetest girl ever and serves us every time. :-)

The vegan options here are amazinggggg. So far Ive tried to tortas, empanandas, enchiladas and the loaded fries and it has all been super tasty, always fresh, it seriously makes my mouth happy. The service is always great too!Do yourself a favor and try the hibiscus water, its my favorite thing on the planet.

Worth a visit

My friends are not eating meat for a while so I wanted some place dope that had good vegetarian and vegan options. I got the milanesa, because I am addicted to them. It was no Torta (located at OHare), but it was a damn fine sandwich. Everything there was great. Highly recommend their Horchata, too. My friends were pleased as punch with the vegan menu, and we left with intentions of coming back soon. Especially because Im really into ice cream and I ate so much milanesa I didnt have room.
