Mike is the best mechanic that I have brought my BMW to the past 4 years I have lived in Duluth. I am sad that the shop is temporarily closed and am eager for it to open back up, whenever that may be. Being able to speak directly to the person who does the work on your car is great, he is also extremely nice and accommodating. Top notch work with fair prices. Had some trouble with my Audi while driving through Duluth and needed a repair. Even though it didnt work out to get it repaired by them they provided amazing customer service. Despite the shop being booked Mike was willing to try to work with us and help triage what may be wrong and help fit us in their schedule if able sooner. Was in Duluth for a few days for work when my check engine light came on. I stopped into Autobahn and Mike could not have been more friendly. I had asked him if he wouldnt mind taking a look at it to make sure my car would make it down to Minneapolis. He took the time to scan my car to figure out what was wrong and was honest in letting me know that he didnt have much experience working on my type of car. He was kind enough to look up estimated costs and was reassuring for me as someone who doesnt know much about cars. I really appreciated the time he took to do what he could to help me on the spot. We were doing the Lake Superior circle tour when the alternator for our BMW X3 failed. Mike got us back on the road within a day. Very fair pricing and quality work. If we lived in Duluth, we would always use Mike.

The best of a bad situation. I was going up To the north shore for the weekend and my Audi broke down in Duluth. Not knowing any mechanics that far north, I called my father in law who then called Mike at autobahn (a former technician at Audi Mpls). Mike reached out to me right away, got a game plan going on when he was going to get the part I needed and fix my vehicle. Long story short is I got to enjoy my weekend with my family, while my car was in the shop and it was done the day I needed to head back to the cities. Mike at Autobahn was incredibly helpful and knowledgable. Knows German cars like the back of his hand. Mike returned all of my phone calls quickly. He worked on my 2002 Passat GLX 4-motion. He fixed the problem. He was incredibly timely...done well before his expected time. He provided a loaner car for me. Brought me into the shop to show why certain things needed replacing and explained how it happened. Honest and reliable. 10/10 would recommend Mike for any of your German automotive repair needs.

We just picked up our Volkswagen EOS three days early. He moved it up and got it done because “it’s a beautiful summer weekend in Duluth and I wanted you to ride in your convertible this weekend.” The price was $400 cheaper than the quote from the VW dealer. He took us thru his shop and showed my husband the part her removed and where it was failing. I highly recommend this small, independent business.

My Audi’s engine was making some slapping and scraping noises which peaked my anxiety, all I could see were $$$$$. I had seen the on the news the opening of this new shop. Based on experiences at other Duluth German auto repair shops, I decided to give Autobahn a try. I was pleasantly surprised at the owners “carside” manner and professionalism. You could tell he had experience, within in minutes he had my issue diagnosed and an estimate for the repairs. Fair price, expedient repair, clear explanation of the issue, and why certain components needed to be replaced. I found my new “go to” shop for auto repairs. Highly recommended!

Mike was great to work with on a Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI) for a BMW M Roadster I am purchasing from Duluth. He was very quick to respond, thorough in his inspection and prompt with following up after the inspection. He gave me the report over the phone and emailed me various pictures of items that he found were less than perfect. It was a great experience and gave me confidence in buying the car.Mike was very professional, nice on the phone, and answered all of my questions (of which there were many). Highly recommend him!

Mike is geniune, knowledgeable and really cares. My Honda cr-v had a bad rotor and brakes and he quickly fixed that even when I told him it was the front, but it was actually the back and he had to cancel the order and send the others ones. He was very nice and professional through the whole process. And when I called him 5 min later because my car was still rattling up a hill (couldnt hear it when he drove on the lot) he told me to take it back right now which was really surprising and he drove it again up a hill and found the issue that would have caused more damage. The price was good and the service was fast. He even went out of his way to educate me really well on the car and what to do in future. It was really a perfect experience.

On Friday, 10/26 on my way to my deer camp my AMG ML63 lost the serpentine belt a mile south of Pine City. I limped into Campbell Auto & Tire, where I learned that a belt would have to be ordered, but couldnt be installed till the following week because of a full schedule.I called AAA to arrange a tow for the vehicle and ATV and thought if I could get to Duluth, I might have a better chance to get the belt installed so I Googled Mercedes repair, Duluth. Autobahn Service & Repair, which I called. The owner, Mike answered and when I described what happened, he immediately told me to look at the front of the engine and examine the pulleys since, he said, it is very likely that what caused the belt to fail was either a broken or siezed pulley. Sure enough, an idler pulley was gone! Mike asked where I lived and when I told him, Minnetonka he suggested I have the vehicle towed to Tommys Garage in Hopkins. While he could definitely have done the repair during the coming week, his concern was for my needs. Mike said Tommy knew his stuff AND was a neighbor!When we arrived, Tommy was VERY accommodating and even had a loaner car for me.Sometimes, the BEST service is an honest referral to someone else who might be best to resolve the problem and that tells me more about the character of someone than anything else! Following the recommendation of Darrell Nelson at Daves Automatic Transmission in Duluth, MN, we stopped at Autobahn Service and Repair in the middle of a road trip to Northern MN. Our 13+ year-old VW Jetta had been intermittently running rough while driving through freezing rain and snow. This made us feel uneasy about driving another 2 hours north of Duluth as we had planned. Mechanic Mike Centa immediately stopped what he was working on and had us pull the car in for a look. After scanning the car and then taking it for a test drive, he couldnt get it to do anything strange while he was checking things out. While Mike obviously couldnt guarantee that wed have no more trouble with the car, he concluded that the engine issue was likely related to the freezing rain we had been driving in. He said that there was a code indicating a cylinder may have misfired but it didnt warrant putting in new spark plugs or other parts at this point. Mike felt it was unlikely wed have any problems with the car that would keep us from continuing our road trip. He even offered that in the unlikely event we did have trouble, hed walk a mechanic through the process of repairing it over the phone. Thanks to Mike, we felt much better about continuing our trip and we enjoyed the next 5 days and several hundred more miles with no car trouble. We offered to pay Mike for his time and effort but he generously declined and told us just to send him an email letting him know that we made it to our destination. In the middle of a long and stressful day of driving on slick roads, Mikes generosity and expertise served as the highlight for the first day of our trip.
