Beth Petrowske is making items that appear to be made by Native people original to Lake Superior. She is appropriating and profiting off of these items. Nowhere on her items does she state that they are made by her, a non-Native person. This is illegal according to the Indian arts act of 1990.

One of my favorite places to visit when I go to Duluth! You can seriously lose track of time in this shop with the variety of items to look at. Not to mention everything is clean and organized, which makes it a fun shop to spend time in :)

Id describe this shop as an overwhelming since of nostalgia - there were truly many treasures there that took me back to childhood. They have a plethora of unique items and it was so fun to page through vintage Barbie magazines. Staff are friendly and engaging - felt like a small town shop in decently sized city. We visited it shortly while passing through Duluth, but would stop again given the chance to see whats new!

The Boathouse is the place you cant miss if you are in Duluth or just passing through. Definitely a trip down memory lane from Little Golden books and magazines, to pin ball machines and a juke box. Beth and Mark are so welcoming and when you walk in the door you feel like you are coming home. So many decorative items from the past and the present coming together makes for a wonderful shopping experience that no one should miss.

I called and was told that they wear and enforce masks with the city and state mandate of them but then I went in to look and one of staff members didn’t have their mask on so I left and came back two months later and they still weren’t wearing their mask and there were multiple customers without masks on as well, will not be shopping there again. As of the reply from the owner there was a man speaking to the cashier with out his mask on as the cashier was chatting with the customer so he had no issue with it I waited a couple of minutes to see if he asked him to put on a mask which he did not then another guy walked in without a mask which it was the same situation with no mask enforced. The guy working did nothing to enforce the mask policy and it isn’t the first time I have seen staff members or customers there without a mask on or even near them. I simply do not believe it was enforced. It has become two separate incidents with the same staff member and the lack of mask wearing as well as no enforcement from him on the mask mandate.

This is my favorite place in all of Duluth. It’s full of unique, well-made, hand-selected items in that classic northwoods cabin style - think wool blankets, woodwork furniture, vintage leather, cast iron kitchen wares. Tasteful, not tacky, and super affordable. If you’re thinking about redecorating your home or buying a gift for someone, try this place before shopping online or in big corporate stores. This is a small business we need to keep open!
