The burger i had was good but small for the price. This place looked suited for late night fun.

Food was excellent and the service was great. Only complaint would be the portions seemed a bit small for the price.

Came in on a Saturday and tried the buffet. Great deal for only $12 and pizza must have been made from scratch. Delicious! I wanted to watch the bulldogs hockey and the staff was very courteous to change the channel for me when I asked. Other reviews mentioned the lack of cleanliness, but it seemed spic and span to me!If you’re looking for good food, good service and a great experience, this is the place to go!

$5 kamikaze pitchers. Reasonable food. Its the go to place for me whenever there are lines in canal park. So much space with an upper game room area where your family or kids can stretch the legs and enjoy. Historic building.

Come here and enjoy the lake. It offers a beautiful view of the sunrise.It is peaceful and calming. Avoid it during strong winds and high waves.

Went there before a concert with 3 other people, and it was terrible. We found a table it hadn’t been cleaned off yet, so we stood by it for 15 minutes and nothing, even though the waiter walked by us a million times. We saw your servers just standing there, I finally went and asked if the could clean it off. After 5 minutes someone did. It took the waiter another 15 minutes before he even came over. My friend had to go and find us menus, and when the waiter came and took our drink order it was another 15 -20 minutes before we got them, and then it was another 20 minutes before he asked us what we wanted to eat. We all choose to have the buffet, and all there where was 2 slices of pizza, which looked al dried up, very little pasta, and bread sticks. I feel if I’m paying $12, there better be a better selection of food and he didn’t even bring us napkins we had to go and find some,We waited for our tab, which we had to go and find the guy. I know you will say it was before a concert and we are busy, but we saw a lot of your staff just standing at the food counter for most of the time. We all said never again, poor service and no food... and we all live in Duluth MN... I rate this as a 0

Pretty good place, great drink deals and POPPIN music. Was banned for a year last November because I was wrongly associated (by security) with a drunk stranger who was alone whilst I was trying to get him out of the bar. Cant wait to go back this year though :)

Only ever been here on Saturday nights to party and dance, but’s it a cool spot. They have good music, cheap drinks, and a cool vibe with antique sports signs and scoreboards. They also have a big open space great for dancing, as well is a split level with another bar and seating overlooking the dance floor. They also have some typical arcade games up there. If your looking for somewhere to go on a Friday or Saturday night, look not further.

Food is absolutely amazing. On of the cooks there is great as well. The burgers are the best around.

Had the pizza, salad, pasta buffet. It tasted fine, but nothing really blew me away. Our server was friendly. It felt cavernous inside. I would have preferred a booth or lower table for our group - but they only had high tops from what I can remember.

I wasnt a fan of this place from the moment we walked in. We were rudely greeted by an employee who said We dont have any servers so Im not giving you food menus. If you want food, youll have to go elsewhere. Which wasnt true...3 other groups of people came in as after us and were given food menus from a different employee. It took my husband 20 minutes to get 2 beers from the bar because the bartenders were just talking amongst each other. Not a place I care to visit again.

Absolutely horrible service I was there for the Vikings game waitresses walked by me the whole game never stopped once to offer to clean my table from the empty beers or to ask if I needed a beer also no one asked if I wanted food or anything had to go to the bar for everything I ended up eating the buffet with me and a friend of mine and then complain at the end of the night to the manager the manager ended up calling the cops and saying that we stole the buffet when I was offering to pay for it what a absolutely horrible experience and I will never go back to this place again after I had dealt with the police we where bad for life and personally Ill never go back I called the head office and spoke with them and told them what happen all they said is they where very sorry and that they would look in to it. I have never been treated so badly in a restaurant/bar in my life they need new people and a better management

Simply disappointing. Sat down and was never approached by a single employee. This place should NOT be a seat-yourself restaurant with how big and busy it is. As a server, my boss would fire me for being so inattentive. Having a system where you seat people would alleviate a lot of problems. We wont be back.

Gone there to eat a few times. Good food fun waiters/waitresses. The Bentleyville Volunteer Party is held there and the food is nicely done. Very efficient staff keeps everything filled.

We rented out the Bayview Room upstairs for our wedding reception. Everyone we interacted with from the Sports Garden was outstanding! From the servers and setup crew to the general manager, everyone was awesome. The manager we worked with the most was Tim. He clearly knows what he is doing and was so helpful in the whole experience! He made sure that everything was taking care of and helped us decide on a few things we really didnt know the answers to by offering some suggestions. We were able to set up everything earlier that day and were aloud to leave it until the next morning which was helpful as well. The room was great and had a private bathroom for just our party to use upstairs along with an awesome balcony off the back that overlooked the harbor. The only downside I noticed was there is no handicap access. The staff did more than everything they could, they even carried my wifes grandma up the stairs in her wheelchair (It was the highlight of her night)! I highly recommend this venue for any party or gathering you can find a reason to have. A big thanks to Tim and the Sports Garden crew for making our wedding reception the best it could be!

Great burger, fries and good atmosphere. Only reason for 4 stars is the price. 15 for a burger and 3 for a soda while might be common still seems pretty expensive to me.

This place is great for watching your favorite games. They have multiple bars and the upstairs has some bar games including skeeball. This is closed on mondays and Tuesdays. On Saturday this place turns into the best dance club in the area. By 11pm this place gets busy and stays that way until bar close.

We went here for dinner on a Saturday night the server told us at 7:30 pm that we needed to get our order in because the kitchen was closing soon. Then they literally took our table from us and made us stand at about 8:30 because they were setting up the dance floor! We just wanted to eat. We got moved from one other place by the staff then we left feeling as though they were pushing us out! NOT a good experience. Not a good family place, it was full of college age kids. There was even a large table of them playing a drinking game! The food was nothing special either. Go somewhere else!!

Service is super slow to almost not existent. BUT the food is simply amazing! If you dont mind the lack of attention from your server and you want excellent food, try this place! Reminds me of island time in the Caribbean..

Went there tonight with some friends to have a good time. Ended up getting a pitcher for the 5 dollar deal. I ordered a long island in a pitcher and proceeded to watch the bartender only put two of the clear alcohols in (long islands are made with all of the clear alcohols. Gin, rum, tequila, and vodka). Granted it was decently busy, but its sad that I didnt get what I ordered. I asked the bartender why my drink was shorted two of the clears and was told that its only two clears because its 5 bucks. All I ask is dont market a long island for 5 bucks if its not actually a long island. Or charge me more for the real thing rather than some cheap concoction to save you some time.I also want to say that Ive had great experience other times but tonight was a let down to have such unfortunate service. For those who are looking for the party on Saturday, this is the place to be. But be warned that the drinks may not be accurate.

Sat at the bar at 3pm on a Saturday, order drinks which were promptly in front of us, then ordered food that was delivered in a timely manner. Food was delicious, hot, and had a good appearance. Really cool place, even took a picture with Captain Morgan!

Never realized that this place was also the party side of grandmas. Wide open and a few bars to get a drink. Its nice and quiet on weekends until about 10pm when it turns into a collegiate anthropology experiment.

Sat there for 20 minutes with the wait staff walking past us and purposely not even looking at us besides one guy that I was looking at that noticed me and still walked past ignoring us. It was four of us sitting out and nothing, not a darn thing. hey have no clue what they are doing. Usually when restaurants do stuff like ignoring their customers for a certain length of time, its just best to walk out. Grandmas sports bar and grill used to be my favorite lunch spot in Canal Park. Its changed a lot over the last 3-4 years. The bar area is a lot nicer now and it looks like the kitchen has expanded. They have a pretty small menu, but there is still a few good things like the bacon burger. A lot of it is too expensive for what it is. They removed pizza from the menu, which was my usual order. I was told they still do it for the lunch buffet. Its a fine place for lunch, but there are better restaurants in the area. I miss the old grandmas!

Came in on a day hot enough to make the devil sigh! Wanted water but didnt want to just come in and not but anything so we got a Coke. Bartender didnt charge us and said no worries! Refills of water came before I needed it. Excellent service!

The staff are very friendly, dependable, and right there to serve. I like to go when Zach is grilling he seems to know how to make the food very delicious. It is nice to see family is encouraged to eat there.

To prove I was of age to enter, the bouncers asked to see my Facebook profile instead of my college ID or credit cards also in my wallet. Word to the wise, if you have a fake, create a fake facebook account to go along wit your fake ID. *I do not condone underage drinking...just saying, if you have a fake, this place seems pretty easy to get into if they just as to see a facebook profile*

Kitchen couldnt keep up with guests or buffet. Waitresses were understaffed. Food was mediocre at best and was *absolutely* over priced. I expected to pay Duluth prices, but this was ridiculous for the food/service we got. The buffet area was littered with food on the floor. Womens bathroom was not clean, one toilet was a distaster and a couple of stalls locks were broken. Arcade games were not really in a good spot for kids to play on (in the bar). We had to seat ourselves which became awkward when more people came in. As the patron, we shouldnt have to manage that situation. Even after things slowed down in the restaurant service did not improve. All in all a disappointment.

College crowd. Drinks are OK. College kids seem to have fun there. Transforms into a night club at 9 p.m. (they move the tables out of the way). If you are looking for low key and quiet, this is not the place to go.

The food was wonderful and you can tell that the food is homemade. The waiters/waitresses are super nice. The check up on you every few minutes to see if you need anything. All together it was really good.

While I cannot say anything about the food because I have never eaten here. I have always had a really good time at this place. The drinks are incredibly cheap and the gaming room upstairs is a lot of fun for adults and children. The place is massive and I have never seen a crowd here. Take this with a grain of salt because I am usually here during the afternoon.

What kind of a place stops serving food before 9:00pm on a Friday evening?Since I cant seem to post another comment, I will follow up with this edit. While I understand the decision to close a kitchen at 9, the we walked in shortly after 8:30 and were turned away after wasting 10 minutes of our time for seating.

Decent place, great location. As a first time visitor it took me a bit to get there as theres a Grandmas restaurant just down the street. The place was very open and the view of the lake is always great. It was big enough to hold an post-event that finished at the DECC on a Saturday afternoon.

This place actually doesnt deserve any stars for their food. It is terrible. Over-priced food to gouge the tourists. There are so many wonderful food establishments in the area. Dont waste your money here. Ill give it one star because the staff were nice.

Bar close is 1:30, versus down the street is 2:00. Had my drink ripped from my hands and thrown ON TO the floor at 1:30, (not even arguing with them that it was bar close, was just trying to finish my drink, also made the floor slippery for leaving customers to slip all over?!). Terrible service and security, bathrooms never stocked. Try a new place.

A lil bit of wait for drinks but its reasonable for how busy they are. The two bartenders I dealt with were super nice and accommodating. Great place, took part in a grooms dinner here and the pizza and drinks were on point. The servers at the bar for us were great also. Only negative were for the flights of stair I wish they had an elevator for the older people, but I get it.

We went there for lunch today the Turkey club was excellent, my husband enjoyed his brisket sandwich, the fries were delicious. What was VERY disappointing is that I subbed fresh fruit for the fries and paid $1.95 extra to get 6 baby grapes, 2 half slices of orange, and about a 1/4 VERY thin slice of honeydew. I was a little shocked at that. I thought I would at least get all seasonal fruit and certainly more then that. I am not sure what is a good price anymore, everything seems to be pricey every where.

Bartenders are super nice. Never wait too long for a drink. Full service kitchen, the food is worthy of a try. A fun place to go on the weekend.

It was just awful. Watered-down drinks at exuberant prices. The bartenders do their best. The rest of the staff including security are extremely rude and treat people like animals. I would be ashamed to own this establishment.

Order 4 drinks 3 had bugs, the pasta tasted so bad some were warm some were cold and undercooked. Then the whole place is barely lit up. Then the pizza tasted like it is frozen and the only thing that was ok was a slightly warm breadstick. I do recommend that DO NOT EVERY COME AGAIN. Just go to Grandmas her food is way better!

If youre looking for a sports bar, this is one for sure. If youre looking for a decent clean restaurant then go somewhere else. The place is just not the cleanest and food looks and tastes low quality. We came in looking for a quick appetizer and got the nachos. they looked good but just tasted fake. I wouldnt return again or recommend this place

Pretty typical bar with typical bar food. Lots of coin-operated video games and pool tables as well. Ive come here for drinks with friends (if you like beer or easy mixed drinks) and have had a good time. The bar area is very open.

This place is really going down hill fast. The tables are all uneven, so your drinks will spill, the chairs are all wobbly, the food is not very good, and their tap beer selections all come too warm. They need to invest some money into this place. You would be much better off going to the original Grandmas across the street.

I went to the Sports Garden to watch the Bulldogs play in the National Championship, great service provided my each employee I came across was a large attribute in making it such a great overall experience! If looking to watch any sporting event, I recommend stopping by here!

What a nice facility, went there for the kq95 superbowl party and I tell ya it is the perfect spot to host that type of event. Nice clean facility, plenty of drink selection and a very nice menu! Upper bar and lower dining area definitely a spot to go check out.

Weve been here for lunch the last few times we visited Duluth. Its never been super busy (noon-ish) and we like the food. I will say the food is on the pricey side. I think $15 for a salad with chicken is kind of high. We have never done the pizza buffet and when I have looked it over I am not impressed. Yesterday we went in (2 of us) around 1 pm and it was not busy. The Soccer World Cup was on which was kind of fun. We were not greeted by anyone and no staff were around the entrance so we seated ourselves. Nobody seemed to notice we were there for a few minutes even though there were numerous college age kids working. The male staff looked annoyed to be there and didnt look interested in helping anyone. Finally a nice young lady came to serve us. She did great. Our food was fine and we got the same thing we usually get. While we were eating a group of 4 came in and sat by us. No one ever noticed they were there. After probably almost 10 minutes a woman in the group got up and told an uninterested college kid that they were waiting for a server. She came back and the group waited a couple more minutes. No one came to help them so they all got up and walked out. Not cool. Especially since, like I said, there were a few staff just talking to each other and wrapping napkins around silverware, etc. with nothing much to do.

Best place to go for nightlife on Saturdays. Night club starts after 9. Gets packed at 11 to closing usually

$5.25 for 12oz of Grain Belt. Thats the most that I have EVER paid for that kind of beer. The management is inflexible and has policies. For a sports bar, they are very particular about what kind of games they will show. Not a Packers friendly bar. I dont recommend this bar; youre FAR better off going to Old Chicago just a block or so down the street.

The food was okay but everything was over priced. You cannot get out of view of a giant screen TV and the soaring ceilings made conversation difficult. But the service was good and it was convenient.

We were the 1st ppl in the door when they opened at 430pm and we were never even looked at. No one came to take our order or gave us menus. Within 5mins of us being there ppl started piling in. There was 2 bartenders on staff and after 15mins of no service even when we went to the bar to order drinks we still didnt get waited on. Dont know why they advertise as a bar and Grill if they dont have enough staff on ready to go when they open their doors. We left and went to the Italian restaurant next door which even though they didnt start serving till 5 we were greated and sat in the bar immediately! We are tourist and were at the aquarium when we saw the sign for the sports bar and grill which is usually right up our alley. But as a Bar & Grill owner ourselves we did not appreciate the lack of service. If its a seat and serve yourself kinda place it should be labeled that with a sign in the entryway. Your locals may know what to do but as a tourist town you are missing out on a big market with the poor staff service. Too bad your burgers looked great online. Very dissapointed

Been coming to duluth for 20 years always went on sundays to watch big screen . This year we went there No pasta buffet. No 5.00 pitchers of beer. French fries 7.50 all menu raised in price. We will never go back. They said Busch light tappers were empty but I bet if we went back in after game we could of gotten 5.00 pitcher

Stopped in for burgers with a friend and our kids and no one finished their food. It was terrible! The beef (on all our burgers) was either freezer burnt or a reheated one from night before. Disgusting! I ordered the burger with gouda cheese and it was the thinnest slice it almost didnt have any on it. The waitress was ok but never even mentioned the buffet as an option. I will never go again! Completely over priced and terrible food. Please believe the others who have posted similar things (just wish Id seen them before I went)..... avoid this place! I would give zero stars, but its not an option.

I spent the better part of my college career drinking $3 long Island iced tea pitchers on Wednesdays, and $5 kamikaze pitchers on Thursdays at the Sports Garden. I stopped by again, 13 years later and much wiser, for nostalgias sake. Aside from a few new additions (and sadly the removal of the skee ball section) it was the same place I remembered, even down to the almost dissipated smell of the prior Saturday night blowout. Glad to see that some things stay the same.

I went during party time for a bachelor party. Place was full, beautiful people dancing everywhere. Pitcher long islands were the cheap drink of the night.

After 2 min a waitress stopped at their table to take their order. We though we would get served after that table. Nope. After 5 more minutes we got up and left. We will not go back there again.

This is one of the worst places I have ever been in my life and it was shown throughout the night as I was there. The food is way overpriced for what you get and does not live up to quality standards, I tried to get a drink at the bar for over an hour and the bartender purposely ignored me and made it clear to my friends once I left to find a new bartender. He mocked me and called me a cry baby after I saw him take multiple laps passed me. I will never give a dime of my money to this place as long as this person is not held responsible for their horrible service. I used to love to come and watch UMD Bulldog games here but I will be taking my service anywhere but here in the future. FIND ANYWHERE ELSE TO EAT IF YOU CAN.

Usually go here after Ive been to Lake Superior Zoo and The Depot. Never had a bad meal and the service is top notch, even when theyre busy - and they can be pretty busy.

Went to the luke Combs afterparty here. It was more than a hassle to get in. The line was outside. It was a blizzard. We had pre bought tickets and only needed wristbands but we were forced to wait with everyone else who bought tickets at the door. It took us 30 min to get inside. Not sure if I will be back. It was okay once we were inside. Tim Sigler was alright.

If there was a way to give 0 stars and still right a review I would. Walked in looking to get a quick drink and some apps turned into a almost a 3 hour mess. There were atleast a half dozen tables open in the dinning room when we got there and one group of 4 in the entryway yet there was still an hour wait. We asked if we could sit in the bar the response we got was yes but you can get food unless you get the buffet which was hot dogs, brats, pulled pork and chips... this is when we found out the litchen was backed up an hour so they were not seating people. We went to the bar and sat down at a table and was told we could sit there as long as there is no one who is going to eat the buffet wants it. We got our drinks all was good an hour later they called our name. We get to our table it is right next to the kitchen, bathrooms and buffet people are constantly walking around with us but this allowed me to watch the kitchen and how pathetic. We had 3 circular high top tables and a square one pushed toghter for 9 people it was just awkward to sit at. We could see other open tables they could have seated us at. So now we get our order placed and it was a 45 minute wait for food. I was facing the kitchen and watch the food sit there for 10 miutes before anyo e moved it onto a tray. Me and my fiancée split the sampler plater and nachos. The sampler plater was very good but the nacho are another story. We got our nachos with both the meat and nacho cheese were cold. We sent it back just becase the meat was clod she brings us a new one and again both the meat and cheese were cold. I was sick of waiting so I said screw it and ate them anyways. My fiancée parents paid for us and for 2 nachos, a sampler plater, a taco salad, a pitch of long islands and water it was still $80. I would tell people to avoid going there at all cost.

If your looking for food, this is not the place. If your looking for service, you get I dont know but I will check, without follow up, and then misrepresentation of your conversation. I ordered burger that tasted like spoiled beef. Tried it twice. Same result. Felt unwelcomed by staff and can understand why only one other table occupied during happy hour. They did not appear to be eating. This place in no way represents the far superior operation across the street. Over priced burger, I could not eat. Gave server benefit of doubt.

Dont come here for football. A sports bar with tons of TVs and no Sunday Ticket. You get network games and thats it. Unless the Vikings are playing and then they can only show that game, due to some contract with a radio station.
