Drove 5 hours from Michigan to visit this store, we could have ordered online but the drive was worth it. The selection is awesome, the prices are even better. Everybody that works there was exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable about any product we had questions on. Thats rare to find these days.
Great selection of tools. Sometimes the staff seem less knowledgeable about tools then I would like. Also they can sometimes come off as annoyed when asked questions or when trying to process a transaction. Good repair center. Again could probably use some more personable skills in that department.
Great service. Good prices. I buy all of my work tools here.
Tool catalog is very misleading prices are different deal adds are not correct DO NOT THINK YOU ARE GETTING A DEAL from that misleading catalog bought bare tool deal that is misleading get a free bare tool when u buy a bare tool in Dewalt is not correct and prices on bare tools are incorrect from catalog to store. Very unpleasant surprise to feel like you have been ripped off completely
Waited 2 months to get the generator I wanted a Honda 2200. When I called they said they had 39 in their full-year allotment Reserved one went to pick it up Steve and the guys there helped me with multiple ideas on how to use this product. One was Northern Minnesota cold weather kit in the winter needed this to use in the winter. Purchased it, this was installed and will be very helpful this winter. Thanks Phill White
Scott the employee who waited on me was absolutely fantastic! He went above and beyond to make my shopping trip memorable. Great employee!
Great service. Will repair your tools. Explain warranties. They even gassed up my chainsaw and tested it before I took it home. Competitive prices. Friendly staff. Just go there and buy some tools.
Needed a string trimmer for the Berry Farm. They had what I needed and my wife was able to pick it up. Total elapased time: 3.75 min.
Expensive but they have the best products available in the construction industry In our area in my opinion
Definitely best place to get tour tools huge selection
I asked about there price match. The associate at the counter would not even ask the manager. I had the competitors ad he looked at it and said he is not even going to ask. Having a cashier make management decisions is not professional in my opinion.
Great prices. Employees treated me like family. They wanted to make sure I got the best possible product for the best price and the most convenience for me!
Good a good deal on my lawn equipment and will be back to build my power tool collection.
Josh was very helpful in finding what I needed. Also very professional and friendly as is every employee when I go in there.
If you want quality equipment and tools, this is the place....and a great variety. The customer service is great and they have a service shop. As a residential carpenter/contractor, I buy most of our tools at Acme tools.
They seem to be serving walk in customers better
I ordered a 24kw generator and there were computer and/or operator problem. It took close to a 30 minutes, which I believe should of took 10 minutes. Everybody was very nice and polite, Im 73 and have not been vaccinated yet so I was getting very nervous about being inside over 15 minutes.
Great selection of tools and have a great repair shop. I just love the staff here
After you’ve visited Acme (at least this location) a few times, the luster of brand name tools fades and you’re faced with the reality of purchasing a tool 15-25% above market price from a vendor who often doesn’t know all that much about what they’re selling you.Service - Something that has stuck with me is how I’ve been hunted down in the store for wearing a backpack and carrying motorcycle helmet (on two occasions) and was required to place it behind the counter. This situation leaves me feeling persecuted as if I have every intention of stealing. On any other day without my motorcycle gear I need to seek out assistance and often the sales staff seems inconvenienced by even simple questions. I’ve never had good luck dropping off my table saw blades for sharpening either. I always catch the same guy who clearly doesn’t want to be there or doesn’t want to interact with people.Knowledge - This one is most important to me. I’ve now spent a few thousand dollars here on some Festool products, smaller purchases and have attempted to purchase big ticket items like a $4,000 Sawstop and a $3,600 helical planer (ended up purchasing elsewhere). Sure they sell these items but they can’t answer any questions about them.Today when I asked specific questions the salesmen provided a classically generic response entirely emblematic of this store “well we generally carry the best.” The store had an expensive variant (4X to 5X the price) of what I was looking for and was trying to shame-sell me a tool that was more than I needed and not specifically what I was looking for. More importantly the sales staff I generally work with must not use these products because they don’t know what purpose they serve, how they work, how they compare to each other and even what they’re called sometimes. They simply point to the most expensive one on the shelf and say: “that’s the one you want,” without any knowledge of its features or benefits.Lastly, I convinced my coworker that we’d trim out his house and save him some money. He finally agreed and he independently went to Acme to get some tools. My coworker told me he bought a nailer so I didn’t bring my 18 or 23 gauge. I showed up and he has a 15 gauge nailer, which they specially suggested for tacking 1/4” x 4” oak baseboard. This is indicative of Acmes disconnect from what these tools are used for or selecting the right tool for the job. I couldn’t convince my coworker to exchange it for something more versatile like a 16g or better yet an 18g for this project so we shot his trim with his new surface-to-air-missle nailer and left massive nail holes and fractured countless pieces of trim (brittle oak).Price - Again, get ready to pay a premium. Were the service rockstar, it may be worth it...but it isn’t. Of the few returns or warranties I’ve made, each is scrutinized.Selection - Seems impressive, yet somehow they never have what I need. It’s more like a bit of a hodgepodge of each trades must-have tools without delving deeper.Saving grace - If there is anything good about this store it may be the (or one of the) manager(s). There is one woman I have dealt with who seems to validate transactions and such, I believe she is the manager for this reason and at least she is helpful, friendly and kind...whatever role she plays. If there’s nowhere else to go for your specific tool, if you have a business account with them and get special pricing or you just don’t care about service or price, you’ll probably do fine here. I just wish this store would correct their attitude, improve their knowledge and maybe be just slightly more competitive with price...they’re a chain store too after all.Update:A manager replied to my message with concerns about my experience. I’ve updated my review to reflect that a manager made the attempt to show concern but was not able to reach them directly after 2 attempts. In any case I don’t have much more to add, I just hope the knowledge and service improves...sometimes you just catch the wrong person on the wrong day and rub shoulders.
Great service! Knowledgeable staff. Clean.
Great deals and knowledge staff.
Very prompt on making sure you do it dont need help and knowledgeable on products unlike most places
Good prices, friendly staff, and they actually have whats advertised in stock.
Brandon is a great help everytime I need something!
BK helped me get an awesome stand for compound miter saw! Great service!
Great service as always! They know all the deals in house and can do better than online!
Very discounting, rude service. Going somewhere else to buy my chainsaw.
Warranty service was top notch. Good selection. Higher price.
Best place in the area for quality woodworking and construction tools. Their inventory is excellent and the people are always friendly and helpful. The prices are very competitive. They also have a great service department and rental desk.
Great store. Everything tool wise they have. Friendly staff as well.
I have made a total of 7 purchases at Acme tools in Duluth, (6 in store, and 1 online). All but 2 was not without issue:1. Tried to purchase a Dewalt combo kit, price matching Home Depot. They refused, despite having Low Price Guarantee on their website. I explained this and Roger the manager said he would speak with someone higher up about it and call me back. Called me back after the weekend and said he would and I picked up the kit. Frustrating about the delay, but got it done in the end.2. Purchased a Dewalt starter kit with two bare tools. No issues.3. Purchased a Dewalt string trimmer. Was $10 cheaper on their website, so I asked if they would match their website, he said they have online only deals so it may not apply. When he rung me up, he stated the full in store price and I asked again if they would match and he looked, and ended up matching it. I was confused as to why he was being difficult about this, but I let it go.4. Saw in their mailer ad that they had the Dewalt Area light on sale with a free battery. Went in to purchase and was told that the ad was in error and that they would not honor it. I called to speak with a manager later, (not looking for compensation) just to tell them what had happened these other times, and she ended up calling me back and giving me the deal, which I appreciated (good on them for making it right).5. Purchased a lawn mower. Only had floor model in stock, but it was end of season, and I received great service. Even got help loading it into my car without needing to ask.6. Purchased a Dewalt sander with free battery deal. Ad on website said bare tool + 3AH battery, but part number listed was for a 2AH battery. I informed thee person who rung me up and she provided me with a 4AH battery instead, as they had no 3AH batteries in stock.6. Purchased a Dewalt Miter saw on their website. Received in a timely fashion for a great deal. Went to test the saw and found that the plastic fence guard was hit when I tested the motion of the blade on a mitered cut. I’ve never seen that happen, and per all the pictures on their website and on the internet, that guard look to be the wrong part. I called to verify that they had stock of the unit in Duluth and brought the defective unit into the store. Roger, at service, inspected the unit and tried to explain that that was how it was supposed to be, that you were just supposed to bend and snap off the little piece. I disagreed, saying that it only looked like that because the saw blade hit it. He asked me to bring it back to the repair desk, which I did, and the gentlemen back there, was confused as to why they didn’t just exchange it right off the bat for me and sent me back up front. Roger then proceeded with the return. He checked the box out to make sure everything was in the box. It felt like he was making a show of doing this, and was very vocal about the inspection to make sure nothing was missing. He radioed for someone to bring up a replacement, and we made the swap. I opened the new one at home, and it had a completely different plastic fence piece and the tool works great.Writing this because you should know what you are getting into. They have a low price guarantee but won’t match sometimes, they send ads but won’t honor the prices sometimes (without confrontation), their website has errors in some of the deals they have posted. In the last transaction with the miter saw, when I saw there was a problem with the guard, my first response was dread. I feel like their problem customer, and my feelings were confirmed while working with Roger to make the exchange, despite doing nothing wrong.Acme tools has great deals, and is relatively local so I feel better shopping there than a big box store, but I have just come to expect that greater than 50% of the time, I will have a problem with my transaction. Not sure how I will proceed in the future.
Always have a great in stock selection of the tools I need to keep my business moving.
Top quality, very helpful in my decision making
Lots of item to look at. The staff was very persistent on see if I was finding everything okay.
I was like a kid in a candy store. Every tool I have ever wanted is sold at this one place! Would have been better if I had some money to spend but I definitely be going back there!
Always helpful. Prices are often the best in town. They service what they sell.
Brought my snowblower in for a new belt after I got it back home I started it up and the belt was shredded immediately. It was much wider than the original. Bought a belt on Amazon and put it on myself and it works great.
We shopped at the Duluth store during their store wide sales event! Brandon D was our salesman. He was awesome to work with! He helped us with all of our needs! He even helped us load up our ladder that we bought. Wish there were more people like him!! Thanks for all ur help Brandon!!
Excellent warranty on the Milwaukee power tools I bought here. Friendly, helpful staff led me in the right direction. With their anniversary promotion, I received a 15$ gift card for my next visit to use on anything in the store. Great experience. Two thumbs up.
Wide range of tools and great staff.
Had an awesome experience (ended up being awesome). I ordered a cordless toolset online for a really terrific price. Spee Dee delivery ended up losing one of the packages and was terrible to work with. Acme was terrific and ended up solving the issue by pulling the product from the store and dropping it off themselves at my home. Way better service than I could have ever expected!
Decent selection of latest tools! They have an unrivalled array of Milwaukee tools which happens to be my tool brand of choice. If you like tools at all you should plan on spending at least an hour walking around inspecting every aisle! There is something for everyone young and old! From leaf blowers to sawzall blades and air compressors to screwdrivers you are sure to find something you never thought youd need! Dont forget to get your free complimentary cup of coffee in the back of the store and sip it luxuriously as you contemplate your purchases!
Went into the store to look at a new drill set, and table saw, on the way out I saw a bit set on sale. Brought it to the counter to buy the manager wouldn’t sell me the product even though there were was multiple on the shelf. Disappointing experience, definitely will not look at any further purchases with the Duluth store.
Huge selection of tools in many brands, excellent customer service, friendly staff. Very knowledgeable. From lawn and garden up to major construction they have it all!
I could spend half of my day off in here shopping. Its better than a dream. The displays and selection are unparalleled. I just want to buy things here.I cant. Its closed, even after work. I live less than 2 miles away. Its more tantalizing than that plate of hot cookies that are for an event. Absolute torture.Be open. Sell me nice tools. Please sell me nice tools.
Nearly every tool you could need. And if they do not have the item you are looking for, theyll help you sort it out. Full service department.
Although they didnt have what I was looking for, they went above and beyond in helping.
Only high quality tools, no cheap off brands. Helpful staff, great deals, great selection.
Ok place
Their selection is great. Store always looks like it has just been clean. Anytime an associate has helped me they have been very knowledgeable and friendly
Makita was running a promo. Buy a XT268T, get a free tool and 6 amp battery. Kathy was great called Makita and got everything I wanted ordered up. Very professional job well done.
Great displays and friendly people, but with a hefty price tag. Unless you’re a contractor that needs quality tools that you use daily, you can get a better deal is most home improvement stores.
Well the service is always helpful and informative on great quality tools that are available there.
Front desk was very nice but they had a clearance table full of used tools on sale, there was about three signs that said they haggle with you on price. Turns out certain tools can only be sold by the people at the repair center, so I brought a tool there and ask to haggle, he rudely told me he wont budge and fought me on it for a couple minutes not giving me any deal. I would have bought the tool at full price but not after being treated like and idiot, five dollars off and I would have been happy. Everything else there might be fine but this is definitely a case where one rotten apple spoils the whole barrel and left a very bitter taste in my mouth.
Truly an amazing place!
Great experience, very good customer service!
Its been over a month and I have not gotten a call on some parts that were ordered. Finally ordered them myself last week and they came yesterday so Im just going to fix it myself.
Very nice staff and knowledgeable about all of the products they have and sell. A nice experience and I highly recommend checking Acme Tools soon.
Helpful when getting replacement parts for my Wacker plate compactor.
Excellent selection of high quality tools
Excellent service and an amazing array of high end tools and accessories. A candy store for people who need good tools, big or small.
Great service and selection of tools
I went to the duluth store to purchase an item that was in stock online, but the clerk and manager told me it wasnt available and that i was wrong, she was very rude! Was told to purchase another item.
Love your store.Top quality tools and you carry tools that other stores do not carry.
Excellent service for the tools they sell. Great place to shop for tools.
Great tool and lawn & garden store. They have the top brands, plenty of stock with a knowledgeable sales staff with great prices.
Best tool store on the planet. Certainly in the Duluth area!
Great selection of tools, great staff
They have everything. Prices are ok. Good service.

I need high quality tools and advice
A wonderful place to get tool

Tool Heaven!
Wow!!! Very disappointed with my phone call to this store! The salesperson (male) that answered was either just released from the I want to lose your business ward or wanted to get home for a bought with his wife, girlfriend or whatever. Had a simple question and I felt like an idiot. Was going to spend my money there but looks like Amazon or a different outlet will get my business. What happened to customer service?
Great selection of top quality tools and more.
Very helpful staff excellent service department
Best place to get tinners tools.
Very helpful staffHelped with all questions even retaining visitors attractionsWe will be back!
Main purpose of visiting is for work tools. For the general public pricing is too high especially competing against online vendors.
Wow do they have the tools. Good service to boot
The best tools money can buy, and they price match.
Great tools good prices
Pretty good selection of tools of most sizes lots of new stuff fairly knowledgeable staff easy in easy out
Always a great toy store for adults who love to shop for tools
Very helpful and friendly service and support. Great deals
First time visiting this store .I enjoyed myself candy store for men.
Needed a trigger switch for my DeWalt circular saw and they couldnt look up the part unless I had the make/model/serial number... of the saw. I had the broken switch but they couldnt look it up with that. I went home and Googled the part off of the info on the switch and found it immediately. Parts counter sucks.
Good selection of tools, fair prices
Expensive but you get industrial grade.
I love this place.
All good
Great selection of tools!!
Was not very nice..
Wide range of selection but a little on the high price
