Awesome experience with this well run bike shop. Im new to town and didnt know what to expect. All she really needed was new tires and a tune-up. I brought my bike in mid morning and it was done by later the same day. I was busy and left it for two days before I picked it up, which seemed fine with them. They had my bike hanging and securely locked when I did come pick it up. The best part was when I pedaled home. It rode like a dream. Fantastic to feel my ride so smooth again.

David spent the time with me to ensure I got the best pedals for my needs, and even let me match them to my bike outside. I love finding these bike shops that really care about their customers and employees. We will definitely be back!

Our group rented 5 bikes from Pedal the Peaks for a San Juan Huts 5-day trip. Dave and his crew got us set up with some awesome gear and made sure we were ready for anything the trail threw at us. We flew in from Tennessee with nothing and Dave set us up great. They went ABOVE and BEYOND what Ive ever experienced or expected from a bike shop. Absolutely the best experience with a business Ive ever had. I feel like five stars is not a high enough rating!

Im from NC on a 3 week road trip in CO. My bike was having some shifting issues I couldnt fix. David at the shop took a look at it, made some adjustments and had me back on the trails the same day. He was both helpful and professional. Bike is shifting great again. Thanks David.

Excellent shop. These folks basically saved our Durango mountain biking trip. Here’s the story: the TSA destroyed the front brake on my bike (bent rotor and pinched hydraulic line). This put me I the awkward position of asking for a same-day or next-day repair to salvage our trip. Pedal to the Peaks went above and beyond by doing the repair that same day and at a very reasonable price. Moreover, the staff was friendly and the mechanic clearly knew his stuff. I’ll be back.

We have used Pedal the Peaks for demos, new bike purchases, and service. Each experience has been great. Those working here are patient and have always thoroughly answered any questions Ive had, plus the owner is beyond friendly. I highly recommended these folks for any mountain biking needs!

This shop is absolutely top notch. We had booked one Mountain Ebike and one regular mountain bike (at the time we made our reservation they were fully booked on the small/medium Mountain Ebikes) When we arrived they informed us they had a cancellation and were able to get us that second ebike on the fly. The staff was very knowledgeable, accommodating and truly a joy to book with.

We did a half-day rental of one normal bike and one e-bike. The e-bike was great for going fast and up the hill. If you are not in shape, get the e-bike. The girl at the shop was very helpful and efficient. We rode on the Animas trail. It is 2 blocks west of the shop, offers some great scenery, and can easily be completed in half day.

This place is the best bike shop I have ever been to. Heres my story.I went to 2nd Ave sports first because they said they had hard tail mountain bike rentals for 45 dollars for a half day. I got there and they were out of everything except extra large. So I walked over to Pedal The Peaks.The owner rented me and my friend FULL SUSPENSION bikes for 45 dollars for a half day. We had a great time and got rained on. When we got back to the shop they let my friend wash his bike off with their pressure washer.I just got a hand written post card from them in the mail thanking me for renting with them last month.This bike shop rocks!

Four of us rented bikes for a day earlier this month after arriving in Durango. Cruised up and down the Animas river trail and stopped at Animas Brewing Company. The staff at Pedal the Peaks were knowledgeable, friendly and great to work with. Highly recommended

They dont have good technical skills for servicing modern bikes, for instance they didnt want to true my plastic UDH even though it was only slightly off. They also did a poor job of assembling friends bikes that were shipped to Durango for a hut trip.

Probably the best bike shop I have been to. They had the tire that 4 other shops in town didnt, and even installed it for me in 10 minutes.

Great place to rent a mountain bike and stock up on essentials. They were very accommodating with our last minute rental and we were able to rent for half a day, which is not possible at all shops. The 3 mountain bikes we rented were in great shape and were perfect for the amazing trails that can be ridden to right from the shop. They were very friendly- gave us great trail recommendations and directions. We will definitely be back.

We head a great experience renting mountain bikes from Pedal the Peaks! I was the only person in our group who had done any mountain biking before (and only a little at that), but everyone had a great time. It was challenging getting up the ridge, no doubt... but you have to go uphill before you go downhill! All the bikes were in great shape, and the service was great. Thanks, Pedal the Peaks!

Me and 4 old college friends rented mountain bikes for a day in late September. Since we were not familiar with the trails in the area, we asked for some recommendations on trails. Dave gave us some great recommendations that were perfect for our level. He was very helpful and friendly and kept up with our jokes and had some of his own. At the end of the day, he even offered us a couple of beers - that was nice. Highly recommended!

This is the place to rent your bike from! Being a business owner, I am always mentally grading the other businesses I do business with. My generation calls that having our expectations met; I have been told that the younger generation calls it judging....whatever.The shop was clean, well organized, the staff was nice and polite. David was engaging and humorous especially when I broke the ice with some sarcasm....he followed right up which I enjoyed. I even received an upside down water bottle in my hold as a send off that made me laugh!The bikes were well maintained and comfy. Great people! Convenient!All in all, I was treated better than I expected!Highly recommend! A+

Second, two mechanicals were fixed there later in the afternoon. Patient. Cordial. Knowledge. What more could be asked of in a bike? Hope you enjoyed the tequila drink left in the “ tip Fridge”.

They pointed me to a few excellent MTB rides in the area, and rented a townie for my wife so we could ride the river trail together.Allyson sent us a postcard after our trip, thanking us for doing business with them. Who does that anymore?! The owners--David and Allyson do! Very pleasant to do business with; well definitely swing by whenever were in town. Highly recommended!

I bought a bike from them and was glad to hear that it was a thousand dollars off for it being a used bike. I found that there were some issues with the shifting and brakes and there wasnt enough sealant in the rear tire. I was allowed a free tune up after 30 days and explained these things to them when getting the tune up, also telling them Id pay for needed repairs. When I got it back the shifting was worse than when I brought it in, the tire still had a leak and the brakes were almost on metal but they told me everything was great with the bike. Really all they did with the tune up was wash my bike and fill the tires, ignoring any request I had made about the shifting, sealant, and brakes

The process was super easy and affordable and they even supplied a bandaid and antibiotic cream for my daughters minor knee scrape afterward! We arrived a couple of hours before closing, and the owner was kind enough to give us a discount on rentals since we wouldn’t have much time to ride. He was so helpful, and the bikes and helmets were clean and in great condition. I don’t normally leave reviews, but I thought the service and quality was stellar enough to warrant one. Would definitely recommend!

I rented a bike for the afternoon, selection was good with a number of high end newer bikes to choose from. The tech adjusted the suspension and had me cruise around the parking lot to test it out and that was it. Easy in, easy out, no hassle. I would definitely return in the future.

The wife and I are novice cyclers and looking for a place to rent a couple of townies to use on the paved trail along the Animas river in town. This fantastic small business was helpful, accommodating, and easygoing. Im a pretty big guy so the owner upgraded me to a more hefty mountain bike for no charge. Had a great experience renting at Pedal the Peaks. I had reserved a specific rental bike, but the previous renter was late returning it. The staff was incredibly apologetic (even though it wasnt their fault at all), was able to offer me a similar rental bike for the day, and took a huge chunk off of the rental rate. Will absolutely be using this shop in the future.

I got to Durango today to escape the CA fires for a week of riding and thought my rig was ready to go; after my first few miles on the CT, I realized my new rear tire hadn’t survived a rock strike and my home repair front brake bleed went way wrong. I couldn’t believe how generous of spirit Pedal the Peaks was by getting me back in business in a couple hours, even when bike shop demands are peaking. Paired with great local beta and friendly staff, you can’t go wrong at this shop.

This is the best shop I have ever dealt with. I bought an Ibis Ripley from here and the parts kept getting delayed (because of Covid-19)The owner, Dave, upgraded the parts, got it put together, and delivered the bike to me himself IN AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT STATE!! Recently bought a used mountain bike that needed some minor maintenance and brake pads changed. Took my bike there to get their $70 tune up and get the brakes fixed. When I got my bike back, very little, possibly even nothing, was done to my bike. It was not cleaned, there was still dust all over it, and they didnt even look at the brakes. When I called to ask why they didnt look at the brakes like I requested, they told me to ride it some more to see if it went away and if they replaced any part of the brakes it could be expensive.Obviously, they didnt really want my business, so I took it to Purgatory Sports where they happily changed my brake pads and cleaned my bike for a very reasonable price. Now my bike is in great shape and the breaks dont squeal anymore. I would not recommend this bike shop, take it Purgatory Sports instead.

My wife and I found ourselves in Durango for a couple of days. Upon arrival we thought a bike ride along the river trail would be a good introduction to Durango. We swung into Pedal the Peaks in downtown Durango, which was abuzz with activity, but we scored a parking spot at the bike shop. We got outfitted with two bikes and David (I wanna say) allowed us to park in there lot for the day. Great bikes, great 20 mile ride and a great day in Durango. I would highly recommend Pedal the Peaks!

Do not ever rent a bike from pedal the peaks, Safety is not their number 1st concern. Yes there is a convenience factor however I rented 3 mountain bikes the kids bike was great however the 2 adult mountain bikes I rented were not. I specifically told the owner we were going riding at purgatory mountain and he handed me a bike and sent me on my way. The owner did not seem to care to show me how to use the bike make sure it was set up for me at all! Durning our weekend we ended up with 2 bad injury’s 1 we had to go to the hospital to get stitches. when I let the owner know about the brake issues and injury’s he tried to tell me the bike was fine. When I asked about maintenance logs and everything he refused to show me logs and told me it was a brand new bike (not the case it had scratches on it from previous rides). I will however recommend Cliffside Wes and his wife are amazing! Also would recommend 2nd ave sports for renting and buying mountain bikes from.

I was in town for a day with my boyfriend, and we wanted to check out the mountain biking trails. Another local business owner recommended Pedal the Peaks, and I am glad they did! The owner was super friendly and had us set up with bikes no wait. He also took the time to give us a map and highlighted routes he recommended for me (a newbie) as well as my boyfriend (experienced). You can bike right out the front door and easily get to some amazing trails :)The bikes were in amazing condition. It was a blast! I would definitely recommend!

I had a PERFECT bike buying experience with Pedal the Peaks via Pinkbike! This was my first online bike purchase and Id do it again with these guys, no problem. I bought a 2019 Ibis Ripley LS from David and it arrived quickly. The bikes condition was exactly as shown in the Pinkbike photos and as described. All was in great working order and at an unbeatable price. If I was looking for another bike, I wouldnt hesitate to buy from Pedal the Peaks again.

These guys are great. Anytime were biking in the Durango area, this is the shop my wife and I rely on to help us with bike issues and forgotten gear. They have even refused my money after spending time trouble shooting some bike issues that were above my head. Highly recommended.

Called around to find which shops in towns were currently renting fat bikes, Pedal the Peaks was one of two shops that said they had them and PtP had the best prices. Customer service on the phone and in store was superb. Made sure I knew which trails to hit given the amount of time I had to spend on the in-store map. Fat bike that I rented was in good condition, and I had a blast in this great town full of good people!5/30/2020 Update: David and his crew are still the best! Rented from them one week ago on a very busy memorial day. They made it happen, never making anybody feel rushed! Always on top of it with trail advice as well.

Wonderful family atmosphere for renting bicycles in Durango. We were looking to see as much of the area as possible and this was a great option. The staff was super helpful and friendly. This is a must see stop if you love riding bikes in scenic areas.

I used to own a highend mountain bike shop in Austin and know what to expect out of a good shop. My son and I rented two bikes to go hit Phils World.. Staff was good to deal with and the bikes were dialed in, no issues and we had a great ride! Due to travelling circumstances we did not bring our bikes and the thought of renting a bike was a little concerning for me.. but it worked out great.

I rented a bike here last week and it broke down completely on the Animas River Trail, fortunately not far from my hotel. I suppose that could happen with anyone, but the bad thing about Pedal The Peaks is they tell you up front they will not come out if that happens, dont ask me how I was supposed to walk 5 miles carrying their broken bike if it happened farther down the trail. Ill be using 2nd Ave. Sports from now on, they will come out if one of their bikes breaks down.PS I spoke with the owner David who gave me a refund and assured me their policy is to come get anyone stranded with a broken bike.

Dave and his staff are incredible! They have done an amazing job keeping my sons bike in top shape while he is racing and attending college at FLC. They are friendly, professional and will bend over backwards to help you in any way they can. The Go To shop if your in Durango!
