I wish I could leave a positive thing here. However the practices of food handling and food safety are a MAJOR CONCERN. The staff within the cafe are inexperienced. I’ve witnessed the worst cross contamination I’ve seen in a kitchen happen here and the owner continues to allow it. Food being served out of dirty dishes. Being cooked on dirty grills. If you’ve had diarrhea from here it’s probably due to the lack of cleaning. The bacon you eat on your burgers is either old old bacon as pictured. Or it’s probably not cooked throughly. I’ve witnessed a 75 year old customer clean up the dumpster area and inside the cafe because again staff won’t do it. They have removed so many things from the menu all because they don’t want to learn how to properly prepare and serve the food. As the removed review that forcefully removed by shady acres skip this place. Go to Jackson’s. If you do stop in here…just ask for directions to the next gas station.
Shady Acres knows how to make good food. The food is so good there this if you get a hair in your food youll just throw it aside and keep eating. This isnt a fine wine and dine restaurant. This is hole in the wall gas station connected burger joint. During lunch time youll find several hard working construction guys getting their grub on. The line is long but its worth the wait. #BringTheTunaMeltBack
Was recommended here for breakfast burritos. Came in and ordered a breakfast burrito to go and was extremely disappointed in the service. Got treated like I was an inconvenience to the workers. While I was waiting for my food someone walked up and was waiting for over 10 minutes to get help in putting his order. I was running late for work and when I finally got the attention of one of the workers to ask her if the burritos that were on the menu were the same as the ones that were on the display at the gas station area were the same so I could take one of those instead, she responded with attitude and the lady who was making the food overheard and brought my burrito and shoved it in my hands and I was quickly dismissed. When I ate my burrito it was extremely greasy and small and I was overall disappointed. McDonalds has better breakfast burritos and service then this place.
I am shocked that all the years Ive lived in this area Ive never heard of stopping for a bite to eat at Shady Acres. This place is been here forever and I always thought it was just a convenience store and gas station. I had the Bronco Billy burger basket named after when Clint Eastwood Shot the movie Bronco Billy here. The basket was only $6.39 and included a large double Patty burger, drink and a large portion of fries or tater tots.
Used to be one of the best kept secrets in the area for GREAT burgers (for 15 years!)Not anymore.Stopped in today for the first time in a year or so - I was sorely disappointed. They used to have great patties on their burger and heaping tots to go with it. Today it was a burnt, paper-thin patty like you’d expect to see at a high school football concession stand. Tots were 1/2 what they used to be.I hope they bounce-back to the great food they used to have for so many years.
When I went in the morning, the young thin gal is rude and always has an attitude. Rang up the order wrong and when you say something she gets rude. Was charged for something I didnt and ordered two pancakes and was charged for two but only got one. The side of gravy I got was half empty. I also called in an order a few days ago and the same gal helped me. When I picked it up my order was wrong again. When I said something she just told me I was wrong. I told her the order again and she was very short with me. Disappointing to say the least.
Love this place the ladies take good care of us and alwaysGood prices and great food
The only thing “shady” about this place is the name! my friend cara (kara?) left her binder and they said “it’s okay! no really! it’s okay! ” really awesome and we had laughs.also i think i came here before a trip to Challis (small city in Idaho, kinda quirky). my trip was okay i went during labor day weekend so there wasn’t much going on in the town but i still had fun. i got a sprite lymonade here. great gas and i would definitely recommend.revision: i remember now that this experience was at a different gas station. this station is the one Larry Nigro always talks about lol. 5 stars
The place is super greasy the back kitchen is beyond messy its a wonder they pass health codes and have only one person working in the back. Flys all over the place this place has gone in the trash.
Cheaper gas and very convenient. I like a quick burrito
I wish the cafe was open later. But good location along the high way. Near the Chateau and all.
Dont go if you need propane. Ive gone by the last 3 days to get propane. The first time it was dark and they said they couldnt because it was a safety issue. The next day they said no one was available. Today they say they can only fill propane in the morning. Well news flash people work in the morning.
We eat there often for breakfast. Good food great prices, but please wipe down the window cills, you have bugs on them and distracts when eating,.
Cheap snacks. Great place to stop and get a bite to eat.
This place is the GOAT
Won’t fill propane because they only staff one person....
Breakfast burritos are awesome.
The food is soooooooooooooo good
Love the food
