5 stars. Subaru of El Cajon is A+. We bought our Forester there in 2015. We only go there for service. Excellent service. Knowledgeable, communicative service managers and great technicians. They only do what needs to be done. Competitively priced service. It is always an easy process in and out. I highly recommend them for purchasing a Subaru and going to them for service of your Subaru.
Always a pleasure getting service done on our Outback at this dealership. Very professional and the Service manager went out of his way to get it done in time. He also took care of a few other things that was not within the service mandate.

I purchased the extended warranty with my 2020 Subaru outback. I bring it to El Cajon Subaru for every oil change and service necessary. The service technicians are professional and extremely friendly. There is a lovely waiting area available for clients to wait while their service is being performed. so far nothing but positive experience!!

If youre in San Diego, this is the best Suburu service in the city. Worth a drive to be treated so well. Every time! Had terrible experience elsewhere but kept looking and glad I did. All service managers have been great, but Ray is the best!
Absolutely DO NOT go to Subaru of El Cajon. I walked in with a pre-approval and they told me that’s not how it works. They said I had to go through their system first. Of course, they wanted way more for a used Ascent than a new price so they told me “good luck” when I stated I’d rather pay that price for a brand new car.Not only this, the salesman didn’t even go on the test drive. They told me to just be back in about 20 minutes. They’ll most likely state that this is due to lack of labor but there was a cluster of sales associates with no customers.All they promoted was that it is a demanding market (which I know of) and they made it clear that the dealer was in control.One week later I found a brand new Ascent at Kearny Mesa Subaru. Limited AND they took my pre-approval first. Deal was done in less than an hour.I would usually let this go but I just received my 6th (SIXTH!!!!!) “denial” letter from another bank they ran me through and I feel there may be more.My pre-approval was already set (still got 3% so this wasn’t exactly a credit issue - this was a bank not wanting to finance a used SUV heavily overpriced) and KM Subaru had no problem accepting it. When I asked them about trying to go through their system, as Subaru of El Cajon said was required, KM Subaru suggested I not to avoid any bank challenges.Subaru of El Cajon totally messed up this experience and I highly encourage you to look elsewhere.PS - I know someone who did purchase a vehicle from here and he left a 5 star review which was incentivized. Just another difference from KM… All they said about any review was to look out for an email but to be totally honest with my feedback. No incentive, no encouragement. Straight honesty and genuine appreciation.
Yes I do. My experiences have always been good when going to your facility. This time was no exception! Tiffany went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed helped and appreciated. I truly feel she went above and beyond the normal call of duty to take care of my needs. She was friendly she was knowledgeable she was efficient and most of all she was able to brighten my day through this interaction.As I mentioned previously Ive always had good experiences at Subaru of EL CAJON however this time around was exceptional and it had to do with Tiffany and the way she conducts herself.Tiffany is a tremendous representation of your team and absolutely deserve some recognition for a job very well done!!
Brought our Subaru in for service, no appointment and was in and out within an hour! Very simple and easy, nice waiting room.Only downside was I wasn’t asked if I wanted my car washed, and have never ran it through an automated wash to keep swirl marks off the paint, but they did it without request. Not a deal breaker, just not excited that it happened!
Everyone in the service Dept is so friendly and helpful. But Angel is above all the best!!!I’ve been using this service Dept since 2015.I will not go anywhere else.

I purchased my 2015 outback direct from this location and bought the extended warranty. My right front CV join is failing at 50K miles which is sad. They had my motor and transmission assembly out for repair earlier this year. It did not make any noise prior to this repair which you have to remove and replace the CV joint but they refuse to do anything so we will go the legal route which is very sad customer service
Ask to speak with Angel. He helped us find the best solution to an expensive fix. Overall Im happy the new transmission, and the service provided. 5 stars.
Always great service from Subaru El Cajon. Both Tiffany and Ray have both acted as a Service Agent for me over the past 5+ years, and both have provided exceptional customer service; prompt, friendly, professional, and thorough. Dealership provided a loaner Subaru to drive to eliminate transportation inconvenience to me while maintenance was being completed on my car. Other service agents on site were courteous and helpful; ensured someone was helping me. Service department accommodated my schedule to drop-off for service.
Ray was very nice and the mechanic found the cause of vibration around 60-70mph on my forester. The worn bushing at lower arm was causing the vibration. The cost of repair was no t cheap but Im satisfied with their setvice!
Angel Flores, service advisor, made my visit to the service center phenomenal. Besides my service and car wash being complimentary he got me a Lyft home and back and made the entire process a breeze. Highly recommend, great experience.

This was my first time bringing my Subaru to Subaru of El Cajon for routine maintenance. I was met at the service area by Angel Flores; I explained my situation to Angel and he was incredibly helpful, quickly getting my car in and out. For that, Im so thankful. In addition to getting my car back cleaner than what I left it, my Subaru is running great and ready to go for another million miles. Like Angel, all the other staff I met were extremely nice, and everyone was wearing masks and social distancing. Im thankful for that too.

This location was able to fit me in when 2 others in San Diego could not. It was great working with Ricardo and everyone else there. Very nice dealership experience. Our salesman Juan was amazing very informative and made sure all of questions were answered and Juan greeted us with a mask (greatly appreciated) plus he was a no pressure sales person.
The salesman I talked too heavily misrepresented the availability of the car I wanted in Southern California, insisted that I should be happy with only $2000 in mandatory dealer options, and tried to sell me a terrible loan. The first place I called afterwards had several of the vehicle I wanted coming in that week with no dealer add-ons and much better interest rates. Subaru of El Cajon seems to check all the boxes of sleezy dealership practices.
Went in for an oil change and was out of there within the hour very pleased.
They got me in to the repair shop without an appointment and had a diagnosis within a day. Great customer service.
I bought a really expensive lemon of a Subaru Outback from this dealership. Within 2 weeks of purchasing it, it started malfunctioning. Every single dashboard light comes on, and everything turns off: eye sight, cruise control, air conditioner! We have taken it in 3 times and they have yet to fix it. Last week, it was 115 degrees where we live; we were in a drive thru and this happened and my 5 year old daughter were trapped in this car stuck between about 20 cars and we suffered heat exhaustion. It took days to recover. We have photos and videos, but they said, If they don’t see it, it doesn’t matter. Subaru corporate won’t help us either. Help! At a loss in a dangerous car that we continually pay on!! Do not come to this dealership! They’ll overcharge you for a vehicle, and after that you’re on your own!!

Everyone was friendly and helpful. The only thing is wish was different is the cleaning of the battery. When they asked my husband if they could do something with the battery he agreed. I dont think he understood The it was a simple cleaning of the terminals. They charged us over $80 to do something we could have easily done.

Liars. This dealership lists cars on their website... and then adds accessories that cant be removed. Salesperson started with, its $1000 off everything on our used lot. Then immediately followed with, but we add $1000 alarms. Do not shop here and fall for their lies.

Was not impressed with service or sales strategies. Came in to buy a new car and offered msrp listed price (which was the price that was clearly stated on auto trader). They refused and wanted me to pay for $400 door trim stickers, some ridiculous aftermarket alarm and a $1000+ wax job. Wont ever come back here. Bait and switch.

Brought my Subaru in for a recall repair. Super fast & efficient check-in, they provided a Lyft to drop me at home and pick me up when the vehicle was ready. Very friendly, made the repair quickly and got me back on the road with no hassle.
The whole staff was so nice and professional, and everyone was wearing their masks properly, as in over both their nose and mouth. Thats one of the first things I look for and the staff at Subaru El Cajon did not disappoint. Ray from the service department was very kind and was nice enough to arrange for a Lyft ride to pick me up and take me back to the dealership to get a courtesy vehicle set up after I had already gone home (I brought my car in for an airbag recall). The two staff members whose names I did not catch in the office to get the courtesy vehicle set up were very personable and provided excellent customer service. Great experience!
I talked to Rick over phone and through emails and I told him exactly what lease terms and the rate Im looking for. He told me he can make it happen and he wont waste my time if I go to the dealership.I drive 30 minutes to El Cajon to sign the deal. He gives me some paperwork with quotes that are completely different from what we discussed over phone. He tells me rudely that this is give or take and he just walked past me not even saying goodbye. I was completely respectful with him and the way he treated me in this process was very unprofessional and unacceptable. Im very disappointed and dont recommend this dealership.

I recently brought in my car to service and had worst experience. After a week of driving the courtesy vehicle, I was told my car was ready to pick up. When I got there I was handed paperwork, car keys, and was told I was good to go.When I opened my door, I realized my backseat was uninstalled. I walked back to the service department and addressed it to Francisco. He walked to my car and quickly tried hooking the seat, however I noticed the backseat was missing screws. I stopped Francisco and pointed out that wasn’t the proper way of installing it. He stated “I’ll take your car and bring it back when it’s ready”. When he returned, I asked to speak to someone above him. He replied “no, I’m the manager here”. I told him that’s bad service and lack of professionalism. He got in my face! And yelled “ We didn’t build your car! All we’ve been doing is accommodating you! His eyes were twitching and looked unstable. I thought he was going to snap! I took a step back as I was afraid I was going to be assaulted. I am not exaggerating!As a women in her 20’s, I felt threatened, humiliated, and bullied by a man who gets paid to help customers. I couldn’t help to cry as I turned around and got in my car.I will never service my car at the El Cajon branch again. I’m afraid to go back to any Subaru at this point. The main reasons I decided to buy a new Subaru was because I was told they hold their value and “The Subaru Love Promise” which is a total lie in my experience.

I had a very positive experience with Subaru El Cajon. Unlike the other Subaru dealership, it was very easy to set up an appointment with the El Cajon location. Everyone was very accomodating and very knowledgeable! Angel took my car in and informed me of the process and updated me on the progress. He even asked me if i needed a loaner, which i totally forgot about! Juan provided me the loaner vehicle and helped me with the paperwork! The work was completed on time! I bought my first Subaru at this location a month ago and it was by far one of the best car buying experience ever. After being pressure at Kia I decided to give Subaru a look. I Made an appointment with Rick Gonzales, told him my budget and situation and not once did he pressure me to get into something I couldnt afford. Found a car I liked but it was stick (I didnt know how to drive stick) BUT he took the time to teach me the basics. Jeff was also a great help when it came to the details of financing the car. I would absolutely recommend my friends and family to Subaru of El Cajon!
Disgusting customer service. Wow wow wow I don’t even know where to begin. Bought a 2016 Hyundai Accent 50 days ago and it is falling apart. I immediately let me dealer know, who is the only innocent person in this situation. The car was in an accident (which I was aware of before purchasing) but I was not aware that it was not fixed properly. My front bumper is falling off! All the metal clips are broken and the bumper was GLUED back onto the body. I have just moved here from New York so, no, I do not have another means of transportation. Not to mention I just started working full time too! Couldn’t have been at a worse time. Not only the car damage but I have been attempting to contact someone for FIVE DAYS. I brought it in Monday and was told Ashley Ross would call me. No call Tuesday or Wednesday or even Thursday so after work I drove 20 miles across town to talk to a manager (ended up with Cameron) just to get talked down to and told to ‘calm down’ and ‘don’t freak out on me. Basically left the place crying with absolutely no help or guidance what so ever. We are very close to taking the next steps for legal retaliation. Not only is this a major inconvenience to my life, it is also a huge safety hazard because the damage could get worse and essentially fall off going 65 MPH. Just the fact no one has the respect to attempt contacting me is such a disgusting look for the company. No one here is nice nor easy to work with. Getting any type of business done here is a hassle and takes two times longer than it should. Just bizarre. The black thing in the first picture is the plastic that was used to glue the bumper back on and with that a piece of the bumper came off (the white piece.)
I spent Saturday hopping from dealership to dealership looking for a new car. I had done my research and knew that I was very interested in the Forester Limited Edition. Upon my arrival to Subaru of El Cajon Richard greeted us and made us feel comfortable. He let us explore a little on our own and then asked if we had any questions. We were able to take a test drive with Richard where he showed us all of the internal features of the car. After the test drive, I knew this was the car I wanted. We went back into the dealership and after a while came to an agreement on a price, however, the color that I wanted was not in stock in El Cajon. Richard shared that he could ask to trade with another dealer and the car could arrive the next day. Richard was able to work with his other co workers to complete a trade and let me know that he would text me the next day to let me know when I could pick up my new car. True to his word Richard called the next day and said my car was ready and he had a surprise for me when I arrived. To be honest, I am not one for surprises so I was a little nervous as well and excited. When we arrived Richard came out and showed us the car, to my surprise the car was not a Forester Limited, it was a Forester Touring (the next trim up). I was floored! Richard said there was a mix up with the other dealer and he had spoken to his bosses and they were gifting me this top of the line trim for no extra charge. I was so, so surprised and incredibly thankful. Richard you are awesome, thank you for such a wonderful shopping experience at Subaru of El Cajon, I could not be more thankful for your generosity.

I am a first time car buyer. Bill Bailey tried to sell me a pre-owned car above Kelley Blue Book reasonable prices with an interest rate far above what made sense for my credit history. He distracted me with talk about miscellaneous other things and effectively tried to shove me into a quick deal. I did not appreciate the way in which he approached our discussions. I found a much more reasonable staff at Kearny Mesa Subaru who offered me extra options but respected my position as a first time buyer. I had a way better experience and got a much better deal on a car there.
Professional and pleasant experience. Had an appointment for a check up, was greeted by friendly people and they took care of me and my car. Highly recommend for any services.

Beware! I been serving my car for 2 years now at this service center and everytime I go something need repairs. Ok, so I went with it and did the recommended repairs. service on 9/10/20 I went in to change the spark plugs because it was recommended and when I got my vehicle back the cam towers need repair and i also need a new cabin air filter? I replaced Cabin air filters with them less then 6 months ago i told them and there answer was Oh looks like we dont have a history of your vehicle with us. They just want your money last time Im serving my vehicle here.
I am very impressed from the service I received right from the very beginning to the end of my purchase. I immediately received a welcoming email from their manager Deanna, who also called and set up my first appointment within the hour. She also confirmed with me the day of the appointment and when they checked their stock and found that the specific model and color I wanted wasnt yet in their stock she called before my appointment to keep me in the loop and forewarned so there were no surprises. When I arrived they had a car ready for a test drive, and I was paired with Blaine who was knowledgeable and kind. They jumped through all the hoops to get me the car I wanted EXACTLY how I wanted it. I wouldnt go anywhere else.

Update to my review below that raised our rating from 1 to 4: The dealership reached back out to us and tried to remedy the terrible experience we went through. We were able to openly discuss terms for a deal we could both agree to, and they honored it to a T. We were especially grateful for folks like Tim, Alexia, and the service department who showed us how exceptional Subaru service can be. They listened to our needs and did their best to go above and beyond. Because of their efforts, we are now proud new Ascent owners.First review: Sharing a review as a forewarning to all. It was such a promising start! We reached out to this dealership for a Subaru Ascent we knew we wanted. We asked them to match a quote provided by another dealer, and if they added a tow hitch, we said we’d be there to sign asap. They agreed to it with no other condition other than to come before they close and that we be ready to add taxes and document/licensing fees. The car was ready for a test drive and it was nice. They gather our information to run our credit...and then came the bait and switch. We are asked if we wanted 4 protective features (door edge and cup protection, diamond fusion, cilajet, and wheel locks) totaling nearly $1,600. We declined. To our surprise, they demanded we pay that $1,600 or else they couldn’t sell the car to us after all. They failed to tell us the car already had these features and they couldn’t part with it for any less. In essence, they lied. We were lured under the pretense of an agreed upon sales price with no other additional fees other than taxes and documents/licensing. We drove over an hour round-trip to get there trusting they would honor their word. We were pressured on the spot to agree to terms not previously mentioned or else, emphasizing they were giving us an amazing deal. To us, this was non-negotiable. They should’ve been up front about this condition from the get go instead of waiting to tell us until we had made the trek. They should’ve let us make that choice instead of forcing it upon us on site. They should’ve owned up to this deceiving and inconvenient practice but they didn’t. We only hope to prevent you all from this too.

Ricardo was very helpful and listened to my concerns about my battery issues. He and his team completed my inspection same day and even found an issue with my wheel bearings I was not aware of. I wondered what that sound was! I am grateful everything was fixed and the warranty I have covered the cost of the wheel bearings. The work was done quickly and I was offered a ride as well which was very thoughtful. Ricardo was very communicative and on top of his work! I would recommend him to friends because he was thorough and efficient! I liked the outdoor seating area that was provided due to Covid-19 and everyone was wearing masks.
The service agent we worked with gave great customer service and as well the management was very understanding. They covered the window repair outside of warranty because we had brought it in while under warranty a couple times for the same issue. I think they even replaced the battery as a courtesy. This is just great customer service. This is my wife’s car and we both love the subaru experience. I have a Ram and El Cajon Subaru customer service is way better than dodge.
