What a nightmare!!!! We bought our pool in January. Received email to start pool 6/23/21 - never happened. We tried calling with no response from installers. Pool delivered 7/6/21. Sand delivered in August and sat in our driveway for 3 weeks. Started digging 9/7/21.It is now October 1st, and they now tell us too wet to put in. It was put up but had to stop due to missing parts. It rained, pump fell into side wall and damaged the wall ( which is some how our fault??). Midwest Pool Builders said to file claim with homeowners insurance. Called homeowners insurance and project not completed won’t cover.Now just too wet. Tried to talk to a gentleman at Great Escape 9/27/21,but he was told to back off with helping us due to all the problems. Was told by email from Great Escape on 9/13/21 they would make this right. We have yet to see that. What happened to customer service? What happened to cleaning up after yourself at a work site. Cleaned up at least a case of empty water bottles. I feel once the store got their money; that was all they cared about. We had bought a hot tub from them with no issues at all. We went back thinking everything would be just as easy. We were so wrong. So disappointed!!! Now what

This place is a joke. I purchased a floor model hot tub 4 weeks ago. Was told someone would contact me within 48 hours to set up delivery. Waited for a week. No one called. Called the store, salesman was rude. Said he would call delivery people and let me know when they could deliver. No one ever followed up. Called the store again, another rude salesperson. Gave me the delivery number, apparently, so I could do his job for him. Finally set up delivery. Delivery time came and went, no one showed up. Called back to the store, salesman wants to keep passing the buck. Will I get my hot tub, or won’t I? No one knows. Stay tuned!

Overall, the shopping experience was pleasant and informative. The salesperson was knowledgeable and wasnt intrusive while we were looking at all the various models of patio furniture available.It was a little harder to understand how the models could be configured, the salesperson knew the information but I think that they knew it so well they thought we did also.Check out was quick and I believe also informative.

Same bad experience as some of the other reviews that Ive read. Our pool was also delivered several weeks ago and STILL WAITING FOR INSTALLATION!! Buying the pool was easy and now we wished we would have went elsewhere. INSTALLATION date was changed 3 times and we had to call to find out why they didnt show up! No communication from midwest installers. No phone call or email. Very unprofessional. Today they were supposed to arrive at 8am and its after 10am! Still Nobody has arrived or even called for that matter! We had to call them, AGAIN and all we are told is theyre on the way! I wish I could tell them to kick mud!

The show room is very nice and filled with very good looking furniture and of high quality. The sales staff was very professional, friendly / pleasant but not pushy. They left us alone when we wanted to be alone and discuss things. Every thing was easy. The items we bought were beautiful and of super quality. I thought the prices were a bit high but we have been looking other places and on line for several months without any luck. Great Escape had what we wanted and we were able to buy it off the floor rather than wait weeks and months for an order. I guess you get what you pay for - the price was the only reason I gave a 4 rather than a 5.

Purchased our pool in August 2020 and are still waiting to have it installed! Took delivery of our pool the end of May with an initial install date of May 29. Installers came out about a month ago. They showed up late, dragged all of the parts out into the yard, spread the sand and left early with plenty of daylight left to finish the job. Even with the rain we have been getting there have been plenty of nice days where they could have come out to finish but never have. Everything has been sitting in our yard getting rained on since then. Our kids are incredibly disappointed that they have missed out on a summer with their pool. Saying your sorry and giving excuses just doesnt cut it. If you have a business and subcontract, those workers represent your business! We should be compensated for all of the headache and stress they have caused us. Will not go back there again unless they make it right.

The products offered by this establishment are awesome,; however, the staff leaves a lot to be desired. Not a soul in the place other than me and II was barely given the time of the day. The young lady working there appeared to be annoyed or bothered when she had to put her phone down to ring me up. A discussion with someone who cares is in order, hoping to find that individual and having that conversation soon.

You were very eager to sell me the spa tub. Not as eager to help when delivery was delayed and, after delivery, starting up the spa tub. A little disappointed with dealing representatives over the phone. My wife called to ask where we could find information on start up and the representative was clueless. When I did come into the store today,the representative I dealt with was very helpful and directed me to the Spa School on your website regarding start up and he printed out instructions and talked me through them.

We had been to 4 different pool stores and found Justin to be the best representative that we found. Over our two visits he explained things in detail, and answered all of our questions. He was very knowledgeable and we felt no pressure purchase anything which made our decision to purchase with Great Escape that much easier. We love our furniture. There was an issue with some of the stitching, so they sent someone to repair. Looks good! We still need one of our soft close boxes fixed. Please send parts or come and replace.

Very knowledgeable and very helpful. painless purchase so far.Ill change my review, was told my pool would be installed in May. Its now July 28, the 5th time Ive been rescheduled for install. It rained for 30 minutes at 6am and the install company has not shown up nor called. Great escape your install company is going to move you to 1 star. Horrible customer service. I require a tanker to fill my pool and have told them this on 3 occasions. Please keep me informed so I can let the tanker company know whats going on. Midwest pool install is a terrible company.

Bought a pool in october still isnt in in july. Installers are a joke cause they dont respond. They delivered the pool june 1st. Was it suppose to sit in the boxes in the middle of my yard for over a month? The sand is sitting in the back yard for almost 3 weeks now. Its always one excuse after another. My grandkids are very disappointed as we are too. If you purchase a pool from them find you own installer theirs is a joke.

Bought the pool and they subcontracted it out.. make sure you know they will not take dirt with them when they dig for pool.. Rude employees and manager isnt much better.. Check the prices on individual pieces ..their bundle prices arent really a deal...overall recommend to go elsewhere as the followup isnt there

Came in today to exchange a pole that was damaged from delivery with our pool. Thought it would be a mess to have to explain the situation but they were super sweet with no questions asked and swapped it out.. Also wanted to buy tube pillows and the other guy went out of his way to help me out! Great customer service to both of them 👏 One guy was named Josh and didnt get the other guys name. But both were awesome!

Great experience. Excellent customer service. While we wait for our furniture to come in, I just wanted to give a shoutout to Josh Gill. He was extremely professional, welcoming, and helpful while my wife and I went through the process of picking out new patio furniture. We were supposed to have the pool installed last June and now we finally have it installed a year later. It was excuse after excuse. The pump wasn’t installed correctly and they first told us we needed to be able to fix it. They still haven’t come to fix it. The liner has two different colors of blue and isn’t matched all the way around the pool. When asked if they had a plumber or electrician they could suggest, they told us that we needed to look it up on our own. We purchased two ladders from them and they’re not of good quality. We aren’t allowed to return them because the boxes were ruined because they sat outside for so long because it took them forever to come install the pool. We were constantly told they would be coming and then they constantly rescheduled when they would be here, there was an excuse after excuse. Customer service has been a nightmare all the way throughout the process. They’re terrible with continued communication and are not timely with responses. I would not suggest them for an install at your home.

Marc is an awesome sales person! He took very good care of us when we bought our new house and furnished it with a lot of outdoor patio furniture and gas fire pits. Now a year later, he gave me great advice and service as I am getting all the furniture out after winter storage. My experience at great escape and with Marc have been beyond expectations. Stopped in here today to get a patio umbrella and they refused service because we were not wearing a mask. I told him under Governor Holcombs mandate that it didnt apply to us for medical reasons. He said it didnt matter and refused service and we had to leave. I will be calling the Governors office and an attorney.

My mother stopped in the store for one second to ask a question and leave (keep in mind there was no evident sign which required mask to be worn inside). The two individuals who were in the store refused service and told her in a condescending tone that she would have to call the store for them to answer her question after she drove there all the way from Huntington. My mother nearly cried after leaving and based on previous reviews these issues have not been resolved. If you are a customer I HIGHLY recommend not utilizing this business. If you are the business owner please perform more investigative interviews when deciding who to hire or utilize secret shoppers to help identify employees who could be giving your business a bad reputation.

I came in about a month ago to look at Pools and Spas. I ended up purchasing a 30 maintenance free pool package (with FREE installation) and a Bullfrog spa. The salesperson that helped me was very knowledgeable and the prices and selection cant be beat anywhere in the Fort Wayne area. Trust me. Went in to the Fort Wayne store looking for a bar for my basement. Wow this store has something for everyone and it was easy to find a bar I loved. Sales staff was super friendly and helpful without being pushy about anything and even encouraged us to take time to think it over and come back if we weren’t sure. We were looking for a new patio set when we entered The Great Escape. Josh came to assist us. He gave us space to look around and occasionally checked on us...which we appreciated. He told us about a set that seemed to fit our needs. After some thought, we decided to purchase the set. Josh was great to deal with through our whole transaction. We purchased the Ipe table, benches, and an umbrella. It is a beautiful set! We had it delivered and set-up. The delivery guys were great, and set it up quickly on a very hot day. We would certainly recommend The Great Escape...and don’t forget to ask for Josh. He made our experience great and easy!

He stayed on top of the warranty company for a month through employee turnover and multiple explanations of the issue we had. We were in on May 4, 2019 and ordered patio furniture for our new pool house and patio. We ordered 2 bar height table and 2 regular height tables, all w/4 chairs. We are STILL WAITING on the 2 bar height tables, it is now August 20, 2019, not happy about it. I feel as though I’m getting the run around. We ordered SUMMER Furniture and would like to have used it this summer (that’s not happening). Every time I’ve called there’s an excuse for why I’m STILL WAITING. Called 2 weeks ago and was told then they were waiting for the table tops to clear customs and it could take 2-3 more weeks. When we ordered our furniture we were told, at that time, that the furniture should all be in by July 4, WE’RE STILL WAITING. As of now, I will not recommend them to anyone and I will tell people of the poor service that we have been given. We bought a lot of furniture there this summer and it will be our last!

DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!. You will regret it if there is any problem with your purchase. Purchased one of there robotic pool cleaners. It ran for 10 seconds and stopped. Restarted it and would do the same 10 seconds and stop. They replaced it with new one. The second one would run but only clean one area of the pool not the complete pool as it was advertised. After the second bad pool cleaner I was done. They finally agreed to give a refund but not until deducting 15% off the purchase price, which was $60.00. Customer service was very bad. Will not go back again. I have told others about my bad experience and they are planning to avoid this store.Update:They did finally give a full refund to try and buy off a negative review. I believe the attitude and customer service has not changed. I would recommend going to a locally owned company with a long established record of top quality service such as, Nierman Brothers Pools & Spas.

This place is overpriced for what it’s selling. We bought a table there and the finish is flaking after one year of owning it. They gave us a partial credit which of course isn’t enough to buy anything comparable because everything is so overpriced so we used it to buy a fire table and the customer service has been terrible. This morning I am waiting for the delivery which never came. Some places understand customer service and some just don’t. If you want to spend too much money on a substandard product and receive terrible service then go ahead and purchase from them.

Incredibly helpful staff. Went to an alternate pool supply location in town earlier today as it was closer to my work but their prices were higher and they seemed determined not to sell me what I came in for. Went to Great Escape after work instead... employees walked me right to what I needed, confirmed my suspected solution to my problem and also loaded my car. In and out in a few minutes. Wont bother trying to shop elsewhere again!

Met the owners son who communicated with my deaf child in ASL. that was such a warm reception, I couldnt be happier to provide this establishment with my business. On top of that, they have quality products for THOUSANDS less!!! Their associates repeatedly asked us if they could assist in any way; however, were not overly pushy nor did they act like underpaid sleeze balls who are just using you for their commission. The store was clean, well lit, & tastefully decorated. My son is ADHD and deaf and can ask a million questions. The associates answered every one without having to pretend to be nice. Too many middle men, they promote they are the only company in town that helps you with start to finish of your pool. They contract their delivery person, who, was rude to my husband, he even helped the delivery guys take the pool stuff off from the truck and set it aside- no thank you from the one guy but the other guy apologized for the rude persons behavior; the person who is the supervisor of getting the pool erect is from Chicago with a crew. Um, just a thought here, but I didnt hear that The Great Escape does criminal background checks on any of their contractors. Not a warm fuzzy feeling when you have strangers coming to your home to build a pool and was not told ahead of time that there would be a crew of 8, not one. On top of that, I wrote a check for the pool to be installed (yup, thats a separate payment), he lost my check- thankfully it was in my yard. Brought it to the store because I wasnt provided a direct number for him. Also, yes, theres more, I purchased the deck and the fencing that goes around the pool. They couldnt contact the same person who installed the pool all day, so I called the store back and said he will have to come the next morning. The company stacks the appointments for the contractors and cant even come during their designated time frame.You do have to put together your own ladder. Ive never owned a pool before or maintained one and it wouldve been nice if someone came to the home to walk you through the cleaning and balancing process. The pool is usable and I know somewhat how to balance my pool, but wont recommend this company to anyone. Make your own judgment call.

6/30/20. I now feel the need to update my review of The Great Escape and our experience with a pool we purchased in March 2019. I WOULD NOT recommend them for your new pool!!!! While the weather was horrible for scheduling installation, we totally understood the delay until June for the install. However, the installer, Tom Stone, made commitments he didn’t keep, wouldn’t return phone calls or text messages, and NEVER showed up to the jobsite one time. I stayed home from work on two occasions because he said he would be there, and never showed up. This was after I removed a previous review, at his request, so he could “make things right”. Justin winkelbauer and Marc Spanjer we’re both kept in the loop on every issue we had. On June 4 2019, we were told the pool would be up and filing with water by that afternoon. We had to leave for a meeting and were told The install crew would be onsite shortly. Within 35 minutes of them arriving at our house, we were told the pool was installed and water from our garden hose was running. 35 MINUTES!! I’m not very confident the quality of the install could be completed in 35 minutes to my expectations! And it wasn’t! The liner was wrinkled and sagging and there were stones poking through the floor of the liner. The pump was left open on waste setting so when the water reached the skimmer level, our yard flooded! Then there’s the fact that the aluminum deck wasn’t installed. So they came back to install the deck five days later. Screws weren’t tightened, bolts were missing, they didn’t put the handrails up, parts were installed upside down, etc. So the installer said he would pay for a new liner and water to fill it and chemicals since we had so many issues. In October, a new liner went in. Obviously no longer pool season so we didn’t really know where things stood until we got back into recent pool days. So here we are now— with a pool bottom that has too many sinkholes to count! Many of them longer and deeper than my husbands foot!! Remember my concern with the 35 minute install?? That’s what happens when you don’t get the sand down properly!! It’s absolutely horrible!! I had to go into the store at one point to pick up some parts that were damaged during the liner replacement and was treated so disrespectfully that I will never go back in there for anything ever again! So Thats my review!! Do not go to them for your pool!!! Worst experience ever! 7/26/19. Per a phone call from the installer today, I have removed a prior review and will update my review once I have met with him to discuss and resolve open issues with our pool installation.

We were interested in purchasing an above ground pool & ended up here because it seemed like a one stop shop. The first time we went to the store it was close to closing & we just kinda looked around. They had two pools set up on display. Someone came over & I asked some basic questions & we left. We were just trying to see how much they were. My husband I were going to be splitting the pool with my mother in law & it was going to be installed at her house which is about an hour North of Ft Wayne almost on the Michigan line, so we were going to have to pay an extra $100 for delivery. The following weekend we go back & talk to someone & get more in depth w/what we want. We really liked one of the pools that was on display. Turns out they didn’t have that pool in stock anymore. So we decided to go w/ the other pool on display which was same size but cost more. Then that one wasn’t available either so we went with another, again one that cost more. Since we were going to be purchasing a more expensive pool than we had anticipated we asked if the $100 delivery fee could be waived, but no it couldn’t. Then everything started to really go down hill. Ends up that pool wasn’t in stock but could be ordered but we would have to put money down to hold it. They couldn’t tell us when it would be installed either because it was all weather related which is understandable but again I don’t want to purchase a pool and not be able to use it until next year. My mother in law was paying her half cash and we were going to finance our half. The sales guy insisted that we run a check to see if we would qualify for financing. We assured him that would be no problem & really didn’t want to run it until we knew for sure the pool could get installed in a reasonable timeframe because if not we weren’t going to purchase it. He said it was just a “soft” check & wouldn’t go on our credit history until we did the full application. So my husband gave him his information & told him ok. It came back as good like we figured. The sales guy tells us that he will call the installers to narrow down a date & in the meantime we can just put something down to order the pool and hold it. We again ask to make sure if the date was too far out we could get whatever we put down back & be done, he said yes w/ no problems. My mother in law ends up giving him $100 cash to hold the pool. So we waited &on Friday the following week a lady called & said the installers could get it put up in 3 weeks & if we wanted to come back down we could fill everything out &get the process going. We get down there and the salesman says something about the address. He had our address down not my mother in laws which we told him numerous times that’s where the pool was going. Well now he wasn’t sure because that was farther away,only 15 min away from our address. He comes back & said he would have to contact the installers again & would call us by Monday. We hear nothing from him on Monday & at this point we all agree that this is ridiculous & we will just go get the $100 back & say forget it. Well Monday evening I get a call from an installer for the pool. I told them I wasn’t even sure at this point if we were still getting a pool or not because the sales guy doesn’t really seem to know what’s going on. Tuesday comes & in our mail there is a Wells Fargo credit card for The Great Escape in the amount of $6200. I am instantly furious & call The Great Escape & the guy says well just don’t use it & there won’t be any issues. Ok other than the fact that we never agreed to open the card yet & it definitely wasn’t for $6200! Even if we didn’t use it it’s still an open line of credit. I tell him I want the $100 back & I wanted to know if the pool had even been ordered yet & he said no. In the end we had made numerous trips down there in the span of 3 weeks & got nothing. Will never go back and wouldn’t recommend to anyone!

Very aggresive staff high pressure.Hard to find prices many items in store not mark.Saleperson stated unadvertised deals can be made and mark prices are not refelective of sales priceHard to determine prices.Easier places to shop with less presure.Good luck.

Its ok. I go for pool chemicals and water testing. It just seems like some of the sales people try to over sell me or convince me to buy more than I need or use way more than necessary

We bought a spa from here good price but bad service one of the panels was broke from a fork truck also they broke one of the safety clips to lock it while they were installing it they said they would be back to put it on so we could lock it because we have a 3 year old which makes it very unsafe we have also had an error code that keeps coming up that causes the spa to keep running we have had the service guy come out to look at it but still never fixed it we have had the spa for 3 months now and have called a few times and have never got a response from them its just been really bad service i am about to return the spa to get my money back and go somewhere else.

Delivery service is abominable.....I originally scheduled delivery for 8am on a weekday because they do not deliver on weekends....my only day off...received a call the evening prior to my delivery date advising that the earliest delivery time is 11am and that it was an error on their part scheduling it for 8am...it is now 12:46pm and no delivery....my day off has been wasted waiting on this unprofessional, incompetent delivery service....basic scheduleing protocol is not a complex task...,buyer beware
