We took our family into Frankfort to visit and play tourist in our own home state. We looked for a local (non-chain) coffee shop to stop at in Frankfort and immediately found Kentucky Knows as the highest rated coffee shop and decided to stop in on our Sunday afternoon. Immediately youre overcome with a nostalgic Kentucky home feel to the layout of Kentucky Knows. Theres a strong but delicate, inviting aroma of bourbon from the coffee resting in the bourbon barrels and of course theres a rich intoxicating smell of fresh aromatic coffee. We were lucky enough to meet the owner, Tony who offers a wealth of knowledge Ive never seen before when it comes to coffee. Tony taught us all more about coffee preparation, storage, brewing, and tasting in 45 minutes than Ive known my entire life. He credits all his knowledge to sourced information too. Not that anyone didnt believe him, but its impressive that he knows where to source the information he talks about.We purchased several coffees from Kentucky Knows and Tony was gracious enough to include several gifts that really make you feel appreciated as a consumer. When I told Tony of his amazing customer service, he responded with This is the way I was raised, it shouldnt be excellent customer service - it should be the normal way to treat people. We also learned of the major expansion Kentucky Knows is going through with plans for family movie nights, open fire pits for roasting marshmallows, and even the ability to make your own coffee. Not only will my family be back, but I will be pushing all my friends to come to Kentucky Knows for now on. Absolutely incredible.

Unbelievably delicious. I asked Tony for a recommendation, and he suggested the freshly roasted caramelled bourbon barrel coffee. I loved it and left with a pound to make at home. This coffee was at once smooth and flavorful. The atmosphere is quintessentially Frankfort bourbon country, and the service was exceptional. Tony knows coffee and goes out of his way to share the joy with his customers. Reclaimed bourbon barrel paraphernalia fills the space. In short, when Im passing through again, Id go out of my way to visit this place.

Ive literally bought tons of packs to hand out as gifts and giveaways for work.Tony creates a unique experience whether youre visiting in his store or just enjoying his many coffee flavors. His passion for what he does comes through with every interaction Ive had with him.I recommend trying the Caramelled Bourbon Barrel, Creme Brule, Cowboy, Chocolate Mint and Bourbon Ball. Skip the sweetened creamer and use half and half instead and add some of his Moka powder.He sells in-store as well as online and has very cool merchandise as well. I have a mug and shirt and theyre very high quality. His vision for the Kentucky Knows brand and how all the pieces fit together is what sets him apart.

This is by far the best coffee in Kentucky! Its so good, my boyfriend who typically hates coffee drinks and loves Kentucky Knows! I recommend the caramelled bourbon coffee, but you cant go wrong with any of the flavors.

I found out about Kentucky Knows coffee a few months ago when I tried the Carmelled Bourbon Barrel coffee and I love it. I have tried coffee from places all across the US, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico and this is by far the best and most unique and original Ive ever had. The coffee I have had here isnt acidic, and is very smooth in my opinion. If you havent tried Kentucky Knows coffee, then you definitely should!

This place is crazy cool. We were in town before the shop was open and called ahead to make sure the hours were correct. We were immediately met with enthusiasm and the owner, Tony, told us that if we stopped on by he’d let us in early and make us a cup of coffee. When we got there he let us in and showed us around. It was breathtakingly beautiful! And smelled amazing! The vibe is really cool! Plus I’ve never met someone who genuinely knows the science behind good coffee any better than he does. Once in a lifetime coffee experience for sure! Oh and the coffee was absolutely delicious!!

Believe the hype. This is the place for premium coffee at a great price. You wont find a better cup of coffee anywhere. If a 1 star Michelin restaurant is worth a stop on your journey, a 2 star is worth a detour, and a 3 star is worth a special journey, this coffee shop is worth a special journey. And for many, if not most, this will be remembered as the place where they had the best cup of coffee that theyve ever had. I live in Maryland & read about Kentucky Knows in The American lifestyle Magazine. I was moved by Tony’s story & success as a small business owner. Always looking for an opportunity to support hardworking entrepreneurs, I ordered three different kinds of coffee to share with friends & family. It arrived quickly & anxiously looked forward to brewing our Bourbon Barrel Butter Scotch Cream. Being a first time customer I did not know the label for the butterscotch cream was on the bottom left hand side of the bag of coffee. I contacted Kentucky Knows thinking I did not receive the Butter Scotch Cream. I was pleasantly surprised to receive an immediate response from Tony of Kentucky knows. He clarified the labeling on the package & indeed I did receive my complete order. Irregardless I was genuinely grateful for the excellent customer service Tony provided. Tony definitely knows his beans. I could have stayed all day but we were short on time. I picked up some whole beans for my espresso machine and for the first time since Ive owned it, I got perfect pressure and a perfect cup. The fresh beans made all the difference! I’m visiting Kentucky from California. Someone mentioned that as a coffee lover I need to check out this unique place called “ Kentucky knows” in Frankfort. The place was amazing and decorated with great taste. The owner, Tony gave us a tour of how the bourbon barrel coffee was made. He also introduced us to all the amazing aromas of several of the different coffees. The energy and the experience was incredible. Everyone needs to go and check out this place☕️. You won’t regret it.

A couple of buddies and I were headed down to Gatlinburg for the weekend and we decided to stop through Frankfort. I had heard about Kentucky Knows a week before and I knew that I wanted to stop in the shop to check it out and maybe pick up some coffee . I’m very glad that I did because after talking to Tony and hearing everything there is to know about coffee, I realized how dedicated he is to his store and to his product. Those of us who enjoy coffee each picked up a pound and had something to look forward to drinking every morning while we were on our trip. We cant express how wonderful KY Knows Coffee is. This past Christmas, we brought 6 coffee flavors to my grandmother. Shes in her 80s now and has always loved coffee. Growing up, I remember her drinking multiple cups a day, but now she will drink one, maybe two, cups of instant coffee. After getting KY Knows Coffee for Christmas, she went out and bought a drip pot and started fixing full coffee pots. Shes drinking two POTS of coffee a day now. When my husband asked her if she like it, her response was OH Grandson, I forgot how good coffee really can be.On top of quality product, the owner Tony also provides quality service. After I told him how much Grandma loved his coffee he asked for her information so he could send her a some. We were so touched by the offer and my grandmother will be so surprised. I was visiting Kentucky recently for a work thing and was in search for local coffee for my other half. He loves the different coffees and I personally have never been a fan of coffee. It has always tasted like burnt water to me; so I have always been a tea drinker. A few people told me about Kentucky Knows. When I arrived to the store I was received with a warm welcome by the Proprietor/Owner of this rustic store front. Tony was comforting and taught me things about coffee I never knew. I learned that many of the reasons why people such as myself do not like coffee very much. His knowledge of the industry is uncanny and his passion for educating his consumers is out right fascinating. He grabbed me into this world I never thought I would have a part in. Then after my much admired discussion he made me a cup of iced Caramel Barrel Aged coffee and asked me a very important question as a non-coffee connoisseur “What did I think?” and I just couldn’t believe what I was tasting. The disgust I always had when I drank coffee was not there. It had a soothing taste that I did not think was possible. On top of making me a coffee believer; the aesthetics of his store are astonishing. He has kept the feel of the Kentucky Bourbon life by using barrels to build just about everything. The coffee beans burnish inside old bourbon bottles set throughout the store. I, being a lady from the north, fell absolutely in love with the homie feel in this southern coffee shop. Tony has taken his life in Kentucky and bottled the history and staples of this state into this small shop, to bring in true feel of what Kentucky is about. Everything from the website, to the logo of the barrel with the long noise that marks the start of Kentucky as a state, to the store front is flawless and historic.

On opening night of The Theatre Downstreams production of The Sound of Music, I opened the entrance doors and was welcomed by the enticing aroma of Kentucky Knows coffee. I followed my nose to the table and the helpful ladies filled me on how Tony had donated this coffee to the theatre. Such a kind gesture! Without hesitation, I bought a cup. It was quite the pick me up needed on a exhausting and cold day. The flavor is a perfect meld of freshly roasted coffee with a just hint of bourbon. My son brought me home a bag of caramelled coffee from Kentucky Knows in downtown Frankfort, KY. May I just say it was AMAZING!!!! The flavor was positively divine! What a wonderful treat - and right here in my backyard! If you havent visited Tonys store, go TODAY! You will want to grab a bag for yourself and a bag to gift a friend! Love this coffee! 5+ Stars!!!

After getting the opportunity to meet Tony, the owner, and being in his presence with such good energy and a wonderful personality, plus the enthusiasm he has for coffee, I have to say I was excited to sample a cup of Kentucky black he had just brewed. My first cup was AMAZING!! He even took it a step further and made me a second cup with milk and sugar, and I’m a black, no cream, no sugar type of guy, and I was floored, so good. Simply amazing, smooth, not bitter, tasty, everything I’ve wanted in a cup of coffee. The passion and knowledge Tony has for coffee is amazing, and his product shows. The fact he took coffee a step further and uses bourbon barrels just makes it that much more...Shortly after sampling the Kentucky black, Tony informed me that he was going to prepare his Butterscotch pecan batch for me to try, and if the Kentucky black won me over, the BS pecan had me sold. Waking up in the mornings to a great cup of coffee, it can’t get any better. I recently put in for his plan with a batch of his Caramelized roast as my first order. Tony thank you brother, amazing coffee sir!

EASILY THE BEST CUP OF MUD you can brew! I travel for work and have tasted coffee all over this country and OUS as well. Im telling you, nothing even comes close. Had a wonderful visit. As soon as you walk they the doors, the smell is amazing. Tony is very welcoming and takes the time to explain the different roasts and offers you a free sample of the brew of the day. (Which was delicious) Lots of beautiful barrel related creations/crafts and coffee beans available for purchase. I can’t wait to get home and try my new roasts! I highly recommend if your in the area!

Great coffee shop. While talking with the owner we discovered that we were both Marine Corps vets, and he gave me a small bag of coffee on the house for my service. Very nice gesture.

I (now) love good coffee thanks to Tony and Kentucky Knows. Every flavor I have had is delicious and if forced to drink regular coffee I realize that what I used to think was good is actually terrible! Tony takes pride in his craft and it shows. The shop is full of delicious smells, incredible pieces of his woodworking and good humor from the man himself. Come out and try it for yourself. Bring a friend, buy some as a gift- you won’t regret it!! Tony and his coffee are the best!

Tony took the time and gave us an education on the roasting of coffee, letting it stay in the barrels and how to enjoy it. It really opened our eyes. We will definitely be back!

We stopped by Kentucky Knows on a whim and I’m so sooo glad that we did! The coffee was out of this world and the atmosphere made the experience even better. Tony greeted us and explained the history of the company and the process he uses to produce the coffee. You can tell he’s passionate about what he does and it definitely shows in the caliber of the product. After trying some (life changing) coffee, I popped my head in the seating area and saw a large group of people talking and laughing. Yes, talking and enjoying each others company at a coffee shop. There weren’t faces glued to laptops or phones that’s so typical to see at your average franchise coffee store. This is a testament to the owner and the crew that they were able to create an environment that feels more like you’re at home than in a shop in downtown Frankfort. If you’re in the area... or even if you need to travel a little.. GO! I promise the coffee and ambiance are exactly what your heart needs

We heard about Kentucky Knows while in Frankfort and had to check it out. The smell when walking in was amazing...the coffee was outstanding and the history of the coffee, the store, the crafts was amazing. This has to be my new favorite addiction. Tony made everyone feel welcome and like friends. I will definitely be coming back to purchase another flavor of coffee. If you are in Frankfort you must stop in to see this incredible store and enjoy a cup of his wonderful coffee.

Definitely the hidden gem of Frankfort! If you are looking for a total Kentucky experience in one place, this is it. Tony is a true master of his craft and has been nothing but welcoming to my family and I. The coffee that he offers is absolutely amazing. My wife and I have actually stopped buying big box store brands of coffee because the quality is not even close to Tony’s coffee blends. I highly recommend checking out Kentucky Knows. You won’t be disappointed!

This was the best coffee I’ve ever tasted! I had the caramel and praline and I keep trying new ones. The store is to die for as far as quaint and rustic and smells awesome. The owner is very informative regarding his products and gives great customer service.

I am visiting Kentucky and bought ten pounds to bring back to me. The coffee is delicious. It has notes of caramel without that synthetic flavoring taste. Maybe best iced coffee I’ve ever had.

What can you say about the coffee other than its amazing!! This shop has changed my coffee taste and the way I buy. Regular grocery store coffee doesnt even taste like coffee anymore. The service is always amazing and the owner remembers who you are. Wonderful experience and I cant wait to go back!!

Stopped by again today to pick up their new Pralines coffee. It is my new favorite and makes the best iced coffee we have ever tasted!A true Kentucky experience! Tony at Kentucky Knows has created the perfect coffee to explain Kentucky. Must say this is the best coffee I have ever had. The purest coffee bean with a hint of Kentucky Bourbon is like nothing you have had before. The flavor and smoothness is like a cup of Kentucky Heaven. And the barrel artwork is gorgeous. My favorite is the bourbon barrel grill!!! And the char that you can buy for your personal grill will bring a new flavor to your grill palette. I smoke my brats and pork chop’s over it for a wonderful sweet smoky flavor. Thanks, Tony for making our day will be back very soon. And thanks for the barrel char it made our cook out a hit!!!

After trying Kentucky Knows coffee, there is no Comparison to any other coffee out there. Tony’s coffee “Kentucky Knows” is by far THE BEST!! You can tell the Quality and craftsmanship of his coffee before you ever open the package. My favorite is his “black” And “Bourbon barrel” Tony’s black coffee puts off an aroma and pure taste that can’t be matched on any level.

This is such an awesome place! We love all the coffee and the service is amazing! He loves to share his story and is so knowledgeable. I also love all the items made from the bourbon barrels that are for sale in the store. Every time we are in from Charleston we stop in to restock! You wont regret stopping in!

Fantastic friendly experience at Kentucky Knows when visiting Frankfort. Tony is a humble, generous and incredible guy and his passion for his craft, which he has finely honed, is contagious! I love both coffee and bourbon so from my perspective it’s a winning combination and he delivers a truly incredible product by putting all his artisanal experience to great use. He was also exceptionally kind with my young son and we would love to return someday and support both him as a person and his wonderful business. Definitely swing bye his store if you are in town!

I love this place. The atmosphere is great and the coffee is too. This is a great place to meet up with friends and enjoy a nice relaxing evening.

We got into the store because of the amazing smell came out of it, and met Tony, the owner. Tony was very kind, showed us around and gave us some free coffee samples. This place has amazing coffee and it is run by this great guy. Would defiantly recommend visiting!

I stopped in late May 2019 to check out the shop while in Frankfort for a visit. My friend and I couldnt resist the aroma and fun atmosphere as we passed by. This is a great shop and Tony really knows his stuff! The coffee is fantastic. I had the caramel coffee and was great. I dont usually drink my coffee black but this one was really smooth and sweet. Im from California and I am definitely planning on doing a mail order for when I finish what I just bought.

The owner, Tony, is friendly and knowledgeable, and goes to great lengths to make his customers feel right at home.
