Have visited a handful of times of recent. Awesome coffee and breakfast items (have only visited during breakfast hours). I noticed they have some sandwiches and lunch items however as well. Friendly service and great prices! Can get busy so just depends on your timing, I felt I got lucky with just a couple folks ahead of me in line most times I’ve visited. Great spot however and I look forward to my next visit!

I’ve always loved this place. I had a bad experience today. I ordered two drinks and several pastry items. I paid and gave a generous tip then waited about ten minutes while five girls were giggling and chatting. I finally stood up and peeked around the espresso bar to see if perhaps they’d made my drinks and forgotten to give them to me. One girl said, “can I help you”? I told her I was waiting for my drinks and she told me it would be a few more minutes. As the girls continued to chat, I waited a few more minutes, stood up and peeked around the espresso bar again. I was asked again what I needed, I repeated I was waiting for my drinks. The gal became visibly irritated with me and repeated that it’d be a few minutes. I informed her I had to leave as I had an appointment and I’d have to come back to get them. It was clear that the gal was even more irritated with me at this point. I left without my drinks. As a business owner myself, I feel very strongly about supporting local small business but with treatment like this, I’m afraid I won’t return.

The service is very good at this establishment. The people are friendly, and it is a comfortable place to sit and enjoy some delicious baked goods or a perfect coffee.

Come in regularly for a chocolate chip cookie. They changed recipes last week and destroyed those cookies. Imagine the inside of a 90-year-old vacuum cleaner. That is what those cookies taste like. They’re so dry, I might as well eat a bag of oat flour.Edit:Came back in later and enjoyed properly moisturized cookies. Definitely the best cookies in town.Edit 2:Still the best cookies in town, but you’d be lucky to get one. Firstly, the wait times are getting ridiculous. I shouldn’t have to wait fifteen minutes for a cookie. Hire more people! Secondly, after waiting for fifteen minutes, you’d be lucky to even get a chocolate chip cookie. Why? Because people working at this bakery can’t seem to figure out the difference between a chocolate chip and triple chip cookie. This isn’t quantum mechanics, if the cookie has more than one type of chocolate in it, it’s a triple chip cookie. And this isn’t the first time that this has happened. This makes number five.Good cookies, just everything else really sucks.

We had lunch on a Friday afternoon. Sandwiches were ok. Giant homemade cookies were outstanding! Skip the meal and eat dessert! 😀

This place has great coffee and delicious food. The sandwiches are made with generous portions of fresh ingredients, and the baked goods are super tasty.

Very good ham and cheese croissant. Shared a huge slice of cheesecake which was outstanding. Not too dry and excellent flavor.

I have been coming to this Bakery several times a week since I moved here in June. I have loved the soup and sandwiches and order them frequently. Unfortunately, the quality of the sandwiches I have ordered has been consistently declining. When I first ordered them, they were fantastic—full of all the goodies I like and a generous portion of meat. The bread was always fresh.However, over the last few weeks, the bread has been stale, and the portion of meat has been steadily declining. Today I ordered a turkey sandwich and the portion of turkey was so slim I had to look twice. And the bread was stale again. That may be because I have been ordering close to closing time, but I should reasonably expect fresh bread whenever I order a sandwich.I rarely write reviews, but since this has been my favorite place, I wanted to let you know my recent experience.

Visiting the area on business and this place was recommended by a local. After the first visit, I was hooked. Great coffee! Great baked goods, especially the pumpkin roll.Comfortable atmosphere to sit and get some work done, not too loud.Staff is extremely friendly.

My first time here and the food is really good. The staff was very helpful with my order so many different types of sandwiches to choose from or you can build your own which I did. I wish I lived in the area so I can visit this establishment more.

From sandwiches to dessert, ham and cheese croissants and custom coffee bar with all the flavors.......everything is just delicious. All made on site and ready for your enjoyment.

I applaud those choices. However, this was not the case at the time of my original review, which was only a month ago, well into the outbreak. My review was written right before the governors mandate.I give this 4 stars, because of the late date of changes made and the section in your response about my choice to communicate through a review.I noticed that your other responses to customers negative reviews do not include a section about how they should have talked to the manager before writing a review, just mine, in response to a COVID related complaint about masks and social distancing. I shouldnt have had to talk to a manager or write a review. Your customers shouldnt have to ask for these basic precautions. I would have taken down my review in its entirety if it were not for this section of your response.Small business or not, social distancing and masks for employees are easy and inexpensive precautions.

Ive been twice. The soups and stews are very good. Hearty enough to fill you up. Today I had a pork and apple stew. It was delicious and had a great consistency. The sandwiches leave me wanting. My kids always get sandwiches here and they are mediocre. There is little imagination, which is easily forgivable if there are fantastic standbys but there just arent. I havent had any of the sweet baked goods, so I cant chime in on that except to say they vary in their visual temptation a lot. Some thing in the case look pretty incredible. Others look utterly disappointing and even confusing.

This place has the BEST coffee in Montana! It is served with a sunny smile from a charming young Kentucky girl. How great is that?Gourmet sandwiches that are reasonably priced, but not pretentious. And, where else will you find White chocolate raspberry bread pudding?

I LOVE eating here! I am a frequent flyer. My absolute favorite is the chicken salad! I have tried everything from the soups and sandwiches to the baked goods and have never been disappointed. I love that the girls always remember what I like. The staff is very friendly and are always quick.

Great local shop staff was friendly and service was excellent loved everything we got. Might be a new favorite spot of both my kids. We will be coming back for sure.

Excellent service along with great cakes and pies. The folks at River Rising helped us surprise our son on his birthday by delivering a great cake and pie. Being a long way from Hamilton, it was great to be able to trust they would remember and actually deliver. All done in a very friendly and professional way. They made it easy and delicious. As our son put it - ate myself into a great cake and pie fog. Cant ask for more than that. Thanks River Rising!

In love love LOOOOOOVE with their cheesecake!! Literally the best Ive ever had, and huge quantities. I shared a piece with 2 other people and there was enough for all of us. The coffee... O-so-uuhhhmaaaazing!! Ive had lattes here more than 5 times now and ALL of them have been perfect, consistent, and delicious!

Great coffee house and bakery in downtown Hamilton. A local favorite among residents. They also serve wonderful lunch sandwiches and even breakfast biscuits and gravy on Saturdays. The staff is always positive, energetic and helpful.

Super cute, unassuming place with TONS of gluten free / vegetarian options. You can order off their large menu, or create your own sandwich. They have daily social and they also have lots of pastries / desserts (both gluten free and regular). Good coffee, too!

I really liked the deserts like the cheesecake and cookies. Sandwiches are good, not great or memorable enough to write home about. Service was prompt and kind. The inside temp seemed a little too warm for my comfort, I felt like a loaf of bread inside.

The menu is more like guidelines than actual inventory -- once they are out of something, you are out of luck, but the fact they are out will not be noted on the signage. You will find out when you try to order. Its also loud an usually crowded. If you have social anxiety, this is not the place for you. If you have any other dietary restriction besides gluten-free, and you are part of a group insisting on coming here, have backup food available.

The work area is very filthy. Not just messy from current orders, the cutting board has deep stains that are bacteria growth. The health department should come visit. Niki the owner also wore a filthy apron. Not just a little dirty, and then wipes her hands on it while making food. They forgot part of our order so I called Nicki and she decided to be unprofessional. Her attitude was unnecessary. Good customer service would have been Im so sorry we did that, I would love to make it up to you and buy you lunch NOT mistakes happen, why are you calling my phone, this conversation is taking 4 minutes and that is 4 minutes too long and then proceeded to lie to employees about me and the story that happened. And went crying to my boss which had nothing to do with it.Its a cup of soup lady. Get a grip. Take your aggression out on cleaning your kitchen, not on customers.The work area is very filthy. My favorite place to stop in the morning for some quiche or a croissant with some great coffee to wash it down. Great service. The sandwiches are pretty darn good too if I do say so myself.

Good coffee, good simple food, unique and tasty baked goods. Plenty of room to sit at a table and not be able to brush elbows with tables around you. Lived that I could bring in my little one and his stroller and not bump into people or tables or be in anyones way.

It was a cute little shop I went and got me a chai tea and I had the best gluten free cookie from there Im not from Hamilton but this was my first time checking out River Rising coffee shop.

Good coffee and service, its got a very young and casual feel, i do believe staff wear should be improved, some wore clothing that looked too relaxed that they came across more as dirty rags or sleepwear, which when you pick up your order and sit down to take in your environment, it doesnt appeal and makes the place feel off somehow. Desserts make up for it though, sooo good, and healthy options are available too!

Show up early so you dont miss out on the ham and cheese and egg stuffed croissants. They sell quick. You can thank me later.
