0 stars if I could. It was my first and last visit. Got through all the precheck stuff and sat for an hour with no doctor. When I walked out I was told they were short on doctors. You still have control of the schedule and a phone. If you cant make the appointment then call people and reschedule. Dont disrespect your customers like this.
Would give no stars if I could. Called them, gave them my insurance info and asked repeatedly if there were any copays, or anything that I would owe up front. Answer was continually no, your insurance covers the exam and a pair of frames. Get there, start wrapping up to leave and they charge me 143.00. I told them my insurance covers it and they went around in circles about why I was being charged, never giving a clear answer, knocking thirty dollars off the price, etc etc. it was ridiculous. This is insurance fraud. I told them I could’ve went to America’s best and gotten two frames and the exam for 69.95 and that is without any kind of vision insurance! Will NEVER be back here again.
We had a positive experience when we needed to get our sons eyes checked! The doctor was thorough and explained things to our son as he did the exam. Scheduling was easy and we got in quickly! When we went to pick out, order, and retrieve his glasses the staff was friendly and helpful and took time to adjust the frames to his liking! Thanks for all of your help!
Witnessed and experienced really bad customer service from the GM or Store Manager. Overall experience was a bit disorganized and it was obvious that they were busy. Okay. No problem. Eye doctor was nice. I appreciated her. There was one receptionist who also did some initial tests on my eyes that was so very nice and patiently helped a Spanish speaking customer (she was bilingual and very kind). My first upsetting experience was a woman presumed to be the GM or store manager as she yelled at some clients who could not understand English. She continued to yell louder at them as if her increased volume would somehow make her easier for them to understand. It seemed demeaning. Then I had my appointment and tried to check out. The young man asked me for my insurance information. I had gone over this when I made my appointment and my insurance info was the same as my last appointment. I did not have my card in hand, lost with my wallet recently. I explained this and said that I could call back with the info. He said he would talk the GM (Store Manager). She emerged already fired up and told me that I would need to pay the entire bill up front. I explained that I had already given this info the day before and would get her the info via phone. I have a history at this location. She responded, I am running a business and you cant leave without paying. Well, for me, I was there to see an eye doctor for headaches, not really as a transaction. I have NEVER not paid anyone, including medical. I left. Called in with my info which I had on my computer. Her needing to run a business cost her five clients. Myself, my wife and my three daughters. I think that she should not be in front talking to patients.... or should I say customers. I found the experience embarrasing and rude. I feel badly for the other nice and professional employees if she is there boss!
Edit: I spoke to them and they claimed they’d figure this out and refund it. That was easily 3 weeks ago. I’ve received nothing. It’s all talk....no action!I’ve never been completely happy there but this time takes the cake. They made me pay my portion for an eye exam, claiming my insurance would cover 80% when they checked my benefits and I owed 20%. Ok, sounds right. Well, I paid it. Once it went through insurance, they paid more than that and I owed less than they already made me pay. When I saw this on my online EOB, I called and the front desk person had no idea, transferred me, etc. It ends up I have to speak to the billing person who has never called me back. I’ve left messages at least 4 times now and the person does not call back or was “with another customer” when I called. Each. Time. No, I think she’s avoiding it on purpose. Evidently this must be their tactic: try to force people to pay on the spot claiming “this is the portion your insurance won’t pay and yes this is the final number”, then you find out it’s less and they overcharged you. This sounds like an illegal business practice to overcharge customers, dodge calls asking for the proper refund, and make more money. Unless they make this right (and then some), all of us will be taking our business elsewhere.
Terrible customer service. No matter how much you call to try to get your refund because THEY overcharged you before billing insurance, the manager either can’t be reached at that time and can never call you back. I call illegal business practices to cheat out more profits. This place has gone downhill and they obviously ONLY care about money.
The doctor was great. Very professional and nice. The customer service of this location is absolutely terrible. I tried giving them another shot after a similar experience last year, and it was a waste of my time. I was told my glasses would be here in two weeks. Knowing what I went through last year with my contacts, I called shortly before the two weeks were up to confirm everything was on schedule. I was told that my glasses did not pass inspection. When I asked what this means I was told it could be a variety of things but an email was going to be sent. I never received any communication from them after that call. When the initial two weeks was up I called and spoke to a different person and was informed it would be another week because my glasses were returned. Another week had almost passed and I called again to ensure everything was on schedule. The lady I spoke to would not let me finish explaining why I was calling. She kept interrupting me and finally said my glasses were on schedule. I will not come back here next year. I would not recommend anyone to this location.
The optometrist is one of the best Ive ever visited. Customer service is where the true review comes into play. Brought a pair of designer sunglasses in to be converted into prescription sunglasses. Was very concerned with the rep as he presented with a slovenly appearance and thats a HUGE red flag in the medical field. He insisted I needed a current exam to have the switch made without checking to see the date of my last exam. Turned out that was a waste of time. Was very condescending when taking down the details of what I wanted. Two weeks later and what do you know...he screwed it up. Nowhere on the order was it written I wanted PRESCRIPTION SUNGLASSES! The tech that retrieved the order knew immediately that it was wrong, without having to look at the order. Needless to say, I was angry. Her method of diffusing was to just shut me up and say Ill take care of it. Thats all well and fine but I have to wait ANOTHER TWO WEEKS FOR YOUR MISTAKE!! This isnt the first time Ive had a problem with this office but it will be the last. You dont offer a wide variety for men and your customer service does not make up for it. Hope you get this under control but from reading the other reviews...you wont.
Was told my glasses would be in by January the 27th and it is now 2 weeks later and I still have not received them. Have called several times and been told 5 different days since that they would be in and then I call and they aren’t there. Every time I call I get told they will have to call the lab and they will give me a call back. I have been told twice in the last week that I would receive a call back when they figured out what was going on and they never call me back. My brother and dad both waited an extreme amount of time for their glasses to arrive and was given the run around just like me. Very unprofessional and aggravating when I pay lots of money and wait a month + for my glasses and then get no help when I call to ask why. The actual doctor, nurse and some of the front staff were nice when I went but I will be finding a new doctor. Do not recommend.

I’m not one to jump on Google and write a review. However, this establishment earned a great review! From the time I showed up until the time I left everyone was in such a great mood, the facility was immaculate as far as cleanliness and sanitization, and the staff made the appointment flow seamlessly. Go here!!
Everyone is very friendly and nice. But we were in the office for 2 hours and 15 minutes, just for 2 eye exams. And only 1 of us (not the driver) had eyes dilated, so it wasnt from waiting for that to wear off or anything. We didnt even order glasses or contacts that day either because we had already been in there so long. We went back a few days later to order my daughters glasses and my contacts. During both visits the woman helping us after the exam took forever to do everything on the computer. Then when I tried to pay for the exams, she was walking around with my debit card and I had to ask for it back. Then she said she hadnt even run it yet, even though she had had it for 5-10 minutes already. Also, the quote we were given for my 1 year supply of contacts was $351, and we were told they price matched and those were the cheapest. Today I receive a call saying the contacts were in and I owe them $622 for a 1 year supply. Absolutely not. I wont be ordering my contacts or glasses here at all now. And we wont be back for exams either; we had no issues with the doctor, but the poor service after the exam in the glasses area caused us to decide to find a different eye doctor.
I would have loved to been able to rate this office a 5 because honestly, the optometrist is incredible! However, the office staff is completely unprofessional and rude any time I’ve called in. My glasses were supposed to arrive two weeks after my appointment and the day my glasses were scheduled to arrive I received a call from this office stating that they would not arrive until the following week. When I inquired as to an estimated time of arrival, I was told I would receive a call back to let me know; that never happened. I called back today to inquire and was told by the representative that he could not assist me because he’s not the eyeglass tech that originally helped me. Interesting, since I’ve spoken to FOUR different people since my initial consultation. Please, for the love of God, get it together, because your costumer service skills, or lack there of, need so SERIOUS work!
Came in almost 2 years ago get eye exam done and it went well, only problem is I didn’t get those eye drops where you need wear sunglasses for effects, when Assistant asked if I wanted them or not .New glasses were ordered but took forever to arrive, ridiculous.
Brought back on time for my appointment, very friendly staff and doctors! Nikki was so helpful with figuring out how to get the most out of my insurance, while she trained a new employee. She was very informative. I told her it was the best experience I’ve ever had at the eye doctor, I finally felt like my insurance was worth it!
I recently had my first eye appointment here and I am very pleased with the service. Very polite and informative staff. They even helped me pick out my new pair of glasses and I LOVE them!
I love going here. The Doctor is really nice and very professional. He cares about his patients. We got in and out quickly. The ladies were also great about helping us find the right glasses. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone.

They Lost my glasses some how said they picked up when I never picked them uphad to reorder them hopefully they they dont give them to someone else or lose them again Im a road side service tire tec driving is part of my job an seeking better is great but they seem like there really trying to get my other set in fast an being very nice about losing the first pair if they get it in fast an make sure no one else gets it Id give them a 4 star
My eye exam was okay. I did t wait too long but kept getting moved around from room to room. Did get my eyes dilated but didn’t offer the black cover so that I was able to drive. I ordered my glasses fro here as well and I’m starting to think it was a mistake, I bought a new pair of glasses that I was suppose to come in already and they are late again. I understand it takes about 2 weeks but it’s been more than 2 weeks. I don’t think I’ll be back to this location.
Best Optometrist (Dr. Crawford) & best deal ($100 for exam, $120 for UV & antiglare glasses) I ever got. Great service--Just sit down at 1 of the 3 desks & someone will come to you. Make sure you ASK for your prescription & receipts, though.
I called to set up an appointment to place a contact order and was placed on a long hold. When the person got on the phone again they said they would call me later to make an appointment. 2 hours later they called and told me they placed my order without asking me what I needed or wanted and without the correct insurance information and told me I needed to pay them. Would not recommend. Always have a long wait time and less than competent staff. My doctor is always wonderful but this experience left a horrible taste in my mouth.
My wife and I have been here a couple years now and eye doctor is very thorough. Had a very short wait time. Ended up getting a better deal on my contacts here than Costco.

I am here temporarily for college and today my last pair of contacts had ripped. I called this location because it was within walking distance from my dorm and they fit me in right away and were able to pull up my insurance information from my eye doctor in Maryland. I walked in and saw that they were busy so i was expecting the wait to be long, but they saw me in less than 5 minutes. The staff was excellent, they asked me questions about myself and kept the conversation going so that it wasnt awkward and they answered all of my questions that I had. I also appreciate their patience with me because it was my first time scheduling and going to the doctors without a parent. They worked hard to get me the best price possible on my contacts and I was in and out of there in time to make it to my next class. Highly recommend :)
Went to My Eye Dr near Harmony Sq. Harrisonburg. My appointment was solely for glasses exam, turns out they did my contacts eye exam also without notifying me of the procedure. My prescription was still good for another two months. When I was done I was surprised with an $85 payment (for contact exam fitting), which I was not ready for nor did I have the money a the time, ended up having to put it on my credit card which I was very unhappy about. What a lack of communication, I will be purchasing my new glasses and contacts elsewhere.
Its very sad what has happened to this business since Dr. Gowen sold to MyEyeDr. I went in 6 (SIX!) weeks ago for an eye exam and then picked out some frames when I was done. They told me it would be a week before they came in. Okay, great. When I got home I started looking around online and saw some frames I liked better and they were cheaper. So I called @ 8:30 the next morning when they opened and canceled my order with them (my fault at this point, not theirs mind you). I was told Id have a check in 3 weeks. Awesome, thanks.2 weeks later (now, remember I was told the glasses would be there in a week) I get a call that my glasses are ready for pickup. So, I called in to see what was going on. No record of me calling 2 weeks ago and cancelling the order and requesting a refund. So she takes down my credit card number and says it could take 3 weeks to get this done. Im a bit frustrated at this point, but okay.3 weeks go by, and guess what? No refund. So I go in this time. Speak to Ava (whos a wonderful lady by the way) and tell her Id like to speak to the manager about the issue. Shes seeing on her computer that theyve issued a check for the refund. So she goes and gets the manager. Alicia I think her name is. She takes my credit card number down (again) and says shell call me with an update. Waited 2 more days, never heard from her. Called corporate just now, and the matter was resolved in 10 minutes. I did get to speak with Alicia and thank her for calling me to let me know the refund had been processed though (sarcasm).Sad to say, but Ill be going to a different business moving forward. Which is a shame, because Dr. Gowen is the best at what he does in the area!
Prices have increased! Ive been coming to this eye doctor for the past 10 years and the last two visits Ive spent entirely too much money. Saved over $300 on a the same pair of glasses at Walmart Vision. Will not be going back!
I waited all of maybe 5 minutes and I was handed the clipboard to fill out then, my name was called while pen still in hand. I cant remember her name but she made me feel so comfortable (I hate drs offices). She walked me through what they were doing and why, and she listened to all of the problems with my vision. She set me up in a room, I waited maybe 20 minutes for the Dr. He came in and reiterated what was wrong with my eyes (nothing major, just need glasses) He answered all of my questions and walked me out to another lady who was super helpful with picking out my frames. She explained my copay and told me Id have my glasses soon. So in total I was there for maybe an hour at most.I love this place and I dont want anyone else doing my exams. Thank you for all of your help!
I called in today to ask for a last minute eye examination. Not only were the kind people at Myeyedr able to get me into an appointment immediately, but my Optometrist, Dr. Michael Gowen O.D. was extremely helpful. He was by far the greatest physician I have ever met. He was beyond accommodating, kind and pleasant to be around. I would definitely recommend him to any and every person I know who needs any form of eye work.
My husband and I are first time patients here today, and we just LOVED our experience! We called in this morning at 9:30 and they made appointments for both of us the SAME at 11:00!!!! We were able to go with each other through the exam and from the front desk to final check out it was a great experiance! The assistant used high tech machines to check our eyes and then once we seen the doctors he was very nice and helpful! There wasnt any long wait or confusing, and being around lunch time everyone was still patient and nice! This place is highly recommended by my husband and I!
Me and my husband wont go back,eye exam was good. Trying to get my glasses on time and being overcharged,was no good! It took me two months to get my glasses!! Very unprofessional nobody knows whats going on! We was overcharged bad customer service!!
Mistakes & delays—had to make multiple trips. I’m literally sitting at the fitting table in myeyedr in Harrisonburg, VA right now & have been waiting for 30 minutes— only 1 other customer here besides me. Ok now I’ve just been told they accidentally ordered transitions lenses instead of regular dark ones on my sunglasses. Really? Alicia, the manager was helpful & ended up having to refund my entire order—that helps, but I will never go to another myeyedr. The Optometrist who checked my eyes spent more time talking about being “set for life” because of his extensive coin collection and about the girlfriend he lost in high school that he’s never gotten over. It was uncomfortable & a little weird.
Went in and had an appointment. Ordered glasses, they told me they would be in in 2 weeks. They never called me to tell me they received them. They then told me that someone had picked them up and that they do not have them. I did not go in and pick up any glasses, they gave away my glasses. Now I am waiting to see what is going to happen.
I went in for glasses, sunglasses, and contacts. They originally told me it would be 2 weeks for my frames and then at the end of 2 weeks they werent in. It took a month and a half to get my frames and when they did come in I did not get a call notifing me that they were in. I went in to get them fitted no one came to help us. Then finally the woman that did said shed look for my glasses. She then went to another family to help them. Then went back into her room to make a phone call. Then told someone else to look for them. Then talked to the front desk saying they arent here. Then finally found them and got them. They had also messed up my sunglasses. The lenses werent what i had told them I wanted and they now are sending them back and told me it will be ANOTHER 2 weeks before Ill even get my sunglasses making it 2 months that Ive had to wait. This is the worst place I have ever been to to get my glasses and sunglasses in 11 years of wearing glasses. They are slow and dont care.
Dr. Gowan got my prescription wrong and had to come back and Dr Welch gave me the correct one to get my glasses redone. I had to wait 4 weeks because of the prescription mistake. Went back with some older frames frames to also just get lenses with the second prescription by Dr Welch and when I picked these up I tried to tell them something felt wrong they blew it off and said they were made correctly but I was very nauseous so after 3 hours of trying to wear them went back to find out this pair was made wrong too. I called the office manager and did not even get an apology at all after this happened to 2 sets of glasses. She claimed she would call me back but never did. I’m very upset about the whole ordeal and will not go back. Be aware !

Terrible customer service. My husband has had so many problems with this office. Starting with long waits to be seen. Attempting to call into to the office is ridiculous, either you get disconnected or placed on long holds and then get disconnected afterwards. When you call in you’re told you will get a call back the next day, calls are never returned and then they can’t find that you called in 2 days ago. Poor service.

Just wanted to let you know that,I had an appointment on October 2018 for an eye exam. I used my health insurance Blue Cross Blue Shield Anthem with vision and received a bill for $129.00. Call them Myeyedr and was told that I had to pay for the services even telling them I had vision with my health insurance. Call my health insurance and told them about my concern and was told that I didnt had to pay $129, that my out pocket was only $15 plus $27.50 for a photo that I was offered and the health insurance didnt overed. Also my health insurance costumer service told me that she was calling Myeyedr Harrisonburg to see why they were charging me that amount. Receive a phone call from my health insurance the same day started that she talked to the manager from Myeyedr, that said they submitted as a medical condition and not as a eye exam, thats why they were charging the amount of $129 instead of $42.50. My health insurance costumer service also said that she, the manager of Myeyedr was rough when she told her (health insurance costumer service) to tell me that I had until today ( All this conversation was the 2nd week of December) to pay the bill. Harrisonburg Virginia has 2 Myeyedr, 1 beside Cotsco and 1 on 42 Road. I got crazy then because I didnt have enough time to drive to Myeyedr beside CotsCo, so decide to go to the office on 1663 Virginia Ave. Harrisonburg explain my situation to the front desk lady Miss Amy (Wonderful person) and paying the bill for $42.50. 2 weeks after paying the bill, (January) I received another bill from Myeyedr for $129 Again, this time I go to the office explain again and show proof of the $42.00 that I paid. One of the front desk lady take the bill paid to some manager and after approximately 20 minutes she comes back saying that everything was fine and resolved. Between 2 and 3 week, I receive another bill for $129 (AGAIN) THIS TIME I CALL MYEYEDR CORPORATE) back and forward and nobody knows if I owe 129 or its been paid. My feeling about all this is... THIS PEOPLE ARE NO PROFESSIONAL AND NO ONE NOSE WHAT ITS GOING ON IN THE COMPANY. TODAY IS 4/18/2019, I RECOMMEND AND ENCOURAGE YOU TO BEWARE WITH THIS PEOPLE. ME, ILL NEVER, EVER, GO AGAIN TO GET PROFESSIONAL SERVICE NOT EVEN FOR FREE.....
They were very professional during my visit. Waited no longer than 5 minutes to be seen by a doctor. I would recommend this place to everyone.
Found this optometrist to be horribly unprofessional. My girlfriend was incredibly upset after her optometrist spoke schovenistically about his wife to her, challenged her views about her past year working abroad, and even used hate speech about transvestites according to recent target policy decisions. Her vision is very bad so she was stuck listening to this until the procedure was done. To finish her visit, her insurance was denied and she left without any contacts, glasses, but had to pay them $130 for her visit. I would advise everyone to avoid this place at all costs.

We came to MyEyeDr because I was told my son had lazy eyes by another eye Dr. When we got there we were greeted and checked in and we saw Eva and Dr Gowen... They were both amazing with my son. Dr Gowen was so personable with him and kept him laughing with his Daffy duck impression... Thank you Dr Gowen you really cared about my sons eyes and I truly appreciate that. We will definitely recommend you and be back!Kalicia helped us pick out his frames and through that process. She was also amazing. She truly helped my son pick frames that he likes. She was patient and answered all his questions and let him try on as many frames as he wanted even though they were closing she never acted as if we were an inconvenience. She truly deserves a reward. She ROCKS!!!Thanks MyEyeDr!!! You guys are the best!!! We will see you in a few weeks to pick up his glasses!!
Hello,I recently visited your eye care shop to place an order of a new pair of frames. The order was unsuccessful because when the frame arrived at my dwelling, it seemed to be lopsided. This experience was not pleasant for me as I now own a pair of crooked frames. As a result, I will no longer be purchasing my eye lenses at this residence. Thank you.

My daughters eye glasses are broke and she cant see out of them. We ordered new ones just for them to have sent them back with the wrong frames and their not doing anything about it. Mind you we waited two weeks for them to come in just to have to wait another two weeks for the correct ones. Never again.
As you can see from my previous review I gave them 5 stars, Dr. Gowen did a great job! Things have now changed a lot. They are rude and only care about trying to make as much off of you as possible! We will be finding another eye Doctor, hate that Dr Gowen retired. That is what happens when it goes corporate, dont care about the little people only about the $$!Dr. Gowen does a great job. He always talks to you like he has knew you for years. He does a very thorough job and has for years... My family and I will continue to come to myeyedr.
They live up to there one star all the way .I am a billing issue and cant get a response from manager of this store . after two weeks and told it would be another 17 days I canceled and asked for refund .I have insurance with a copay and the refunded all but eye exam totally . They never billed insurance . shouldnt of paid up front .buyer be ware
Modern equipment, friendly staff, doctors take their time with me to answer my questions, excellent selection of glasses, and prices are fair.
Horrible long wait time with little to no one else in the office waiting area. Had to finally flag down a different doctor within the office to be seen! A 3pm appointment time turned in to finally checking out at 5:15.
