Daniel in the service center has been wonderful to work with for all of my cars needs over the years. I come to this location often for various maintenance, but recently my car has had a recurring issue where the AC stops working, and Daniel has been so helpful during this process. He is always up front about the issue and discussing my options. Since I’ve had to come back a few times with this recurring issue, he is always willing to work with me and makes sure to charge me very fairly. It’s hard to find an auto place that doesn’t try and take advantage of you and take all your money at every appointment, so I really appreciate the service he gives and that he has been more than accommodating! This has made me a loyal customer to this location for many years!
I’ve had repeated bad experiences here, but my most recent was the last straw. I’ve come back a few times just because it is a convenient shop. One time I came in because my blinker was out. Came back to pick it up the first time, go to use my blinker to exit the lot, and still not working. They apologize, take the car back again, and charge me $50 more saying it was a new issue. Blinker went out again 3 weeks later. Crazy right? Not as bad my most recent experience. I had a slow leak in one of my tires a year ago. I bring it in, and it’s recommended that I get 4 new tires, which seems reasonable to me. I pay a few hundred dollars and I’m on my way. A few weeks ago I noticed the same tire had a slow leak again. Strange coincidence right? I brought it somewhere else today to get it patched, and they just told me “yea it was leaking through the old patch.” Hmmmm. To the best of my knowledge these are year old tires that pep boys had installed for me. Apparently not, because between then and now I’ve had no other work done on the car other than oil changes. So they either patched my old tire (poorly) and then sold it to me as new tires, scamming me out of 100s of dollars. Or the “new” tires weren’t new at all. Either way they scammed me. I’m embarrassed that I let them get away with that on me. I’m posting this here to hopefully save others from similar fates.
My daughters fiancé had an appointment for an oil change. He dropped off his car and gave the guy the key. My daughters fiancé (Brian) left and got a phone call like 8 minutes later. The person on the phone said the key wasnt working. Brian goes back to the store and the mother board was now missing from the key. Brian drove the car with this key to the store. Now the key makes noise when you shake it and is obviously lighter. Brian asked for a manager. A man with a beard came out eventually and never introduced himself. The staff and this alleged manager accused Brian of handing them a shell with no motherboard. How did he get the car there then? Brian asked to see the closed circuit video and he was told, we cant let you do that. About 30 minutes go by and miraculously the motherboard was found on the floor in the workshop. How did it get there, no one had an answer. A few minutes later they gave him the key back with no explanation and no apology.But if he didnt make a big deal about it with my daughter, Someone would have walked off with the motherboard. That costs an average of $200 to replace. No explanation, no apology for accusing Brian of handing in a broken key.Very poor and unprofessional behavior. If I could give ZERO stars I would.

So I had to get towed here during work and was absolutely miserable given the circumstances. Nick, at the service department, gave the best service and I couldn’t be happier that he helped me. He was so friendly and efficient with my car and he is 100% who I would recommend to go to every time. He made my day from bad to great. Thank you!
First time to get any service here. Got an inspection done. Professional and Polite. Took an hour but the waiting area was clean and comfortable.
To sell tires they failed my inspection even I don’t have any tire light on. Worst customer service.
Was great! My temperature/overheating light came on so I stopped by really quick and they had the issue identified and solved within a half an hour!
Unfortunately I cannot give a 0-star for this business (edit at the end of the review).On Sept 25th 2021, I went to the PepBoys store located at 15 E Old Country Rd, Hicksville, NY for two tires and an oil change on my 2016 Nissan Versa Note. The service was done as expected, I paid and left.The next Monday, Sept 27th, I noticed a small puddle of oil on my driveway during the checkup before I left with the car. I am pretty sure it was something that never happened before because I always check my tires and the pavement for any signs of leakage of any fluid (brakes, engine oil, transmission, coolant). I took the car to the same store and after looking into it, the mechanic and the rep tried to convince me it was a transmission fluid leakage and it should be there for quite some time. I told them I always check the driveway for any kind of stains or puddles and I was pretty sure it happened after the oil change.It turns out I took my car from the store and called my trusty mechanic who told me to bring the car two days later. In my mechanic shop, they went in a wild goose hunt for a leaking transmission, and after one hour they came to two conclusions:1. My engine was overfilled with oil;2. The PepBoys mechanic probably spilled oil on my transmission while filling in the engine, but never told me he did so.I spent an extra $ 117.00 on labor, which my mechanic felt really bad for, but he spent one hour of labor chasing something that did not exist and could simply be ignored if the people at PepBoys had told the truth and said they spilled oil during the refilling. Humans make mistakes, but not telling me the truth is an option, and in this case, it had a financial impact.Finally, after opening a case with their customer relations department, I received a call from one of the stores manager who told me I would have a free oil change the next time. Obviously, I told him I am not coming back. The very least I could expect for such poorly executed service was a refund for my oil change, which would not cover the time and expenses I had in my mechanic, but would leave at least the impression PepBoys is a serious company.Unless you want to receive a poor service in some basic things, like an oil change, this is not a mechanic shop for you.EDIT on 10/4/21 - after having my case escalated twice by customer services I got a refund for the oil change. It does not solve the problem but at least it shows the company has some minimum respect for its customers.
Waste of time and money for a non-OEM parts replacement. Made a mistake by going to this Pepboys place. inexperienced technician, had to visit serval times for a simple job done. Equal or expensive to do a service at this Pepboys location when compared to Toyota service centers. Unhappy customer and will not go again
I work for a Transmission shop. First and foremost what we quote our customers is the price they pay. I was in a pinch with a bad tire. I just bought the car and the others weren’t so good I decided to buy 4 since the price wasn’t bad.The work was good, I had no issues with the job, it was the shady fees added. When I went to pick up my car it was over 100$ more than originally quoted. I spoke with the service writer and he quickly fixed it with no issue. However, I paid 9.99 for a “free” calendar I didn’t want, and over 60$ for hazard insurance. Not making a big deal because as I said the service writer did lower it back to the quote I was originally given. (Hence the 4 stars) I assume the price difference between online and in shop directly was these fees, however I was originally told it was “taxes”. I let it go until later. When I redid the online purchase it was 505$ Watch your receipts folks. Lots of hidden things you don’t ask for.Edit. Let me lower my review so maybe you actually read it, what a slap in the face. Was was not a great experience it was a rip off

I purchased full set of 4 tires online and got them installed in this store. During installation, I saw both sides of the panels were banded and was afraid its unsafe bc the lift arms werent put underneath the side sills properly. They adjusted it when I pointed that out but I was told its ok. I went back after 20 days to check if theres something wrong on one of the tires because I have to filled in air twice after installation. After two hours waiting, I was told the TPMS sensor broken and they fixed it and good to go, ofc they charged me an repair fee. Next early morning, so surprised when I saw a flat tire that the one they promised. Have to went to a tire store and replaced a new sensor. So disappointed.

Very fairly priced - but extremely slow. For all the bays they have, theres a lot of standing around. Then when your cars done, theres no rush to get you out
Price is way too ABSURD to just change the Mass Airflow Sensor.They charge $103 to check the issue by using OBDii. Scanner.Which is deducted, BUT ONLY if you get the issue fixed by them(Auto Zone does this for Free)For me:Total cost=$949.37. The sensor costed $440 ( That too was an outside purchase) and remaining $509.xx was for cleaning, LABOUR etc!Nothing else, was changed or replaced, not even the air filter, as per tech there, he said: the area around mag was very dirty, but did not need to replace air filter. (red Flag in my opinion)Tech also said need to reprogram the MAF!Which is probably reset using the OBDii scanner, i presume.Note: on the bill, one charge said:NO MITCHELL DT LBR:$152This was repeated TWICE on Bill.Had same issue two years back, and I had got it done at another reputed repair shop $197 for MAF +$175 LABOR, which included replacing air filter.The folks in PEPBs were very respectful and polite, thats why the 2 stars.(Big NO to pep bs from now on)

Wasnt very happy because of the access to get the rebate from their website so I returned the product back due to the lack of reaching anyone to assist acquiring my rebate money. Went to competitor which matched product price, rebate, and discount as well.

Warning, dishonest mechanics.I brought my fleet vehicle in for an inspection. The technician accidentally broke the windshield while removing the old sticker. They told me it was like that and charged me for a failed inspection. The manager, desk attendant and technician flat out lied.There is nothing worse than a dishonest mechanic. I will not go back and have warned the rest of my fleet. Try somewhere else.
Very bad Customer Service. When you ask for your car they reply with an answer Your car is not ready, just sit and relax no approximate timing on how long would it take for the car to be ready. They delay you so you can think they are really working on your car because you cant even check your cars status. They are very slow at fixing cars. So, you might as well rent another car before going there. Only one registar open for payments. Check your prices and there breakdown for hidden fees in there such as road hazards. Believe me you will save more.
Just needed to get wheel balancing on rear tires and ( Daniel) inform me there is $30 charge for diagnosing and $20 per tire to balance!
Very slow! They dont actually perform the wheel balance either. Youll get charged for nothing. After vibration at 60 MPH, went to dealership and confirmed that nothing was done.
A person had a flat tire goes to pep boys they get his info and made him sit for couple of hours and then they have to say his tire is not repairable perhaps get 2 new tires for $200. Yes or no? No, the person went to another tire shop and got it fixed in 5 min and cost him $10. Bottom line I saved $190 refusing pep boys offer.

I went into the Hicksville store for oil change and inspection. Tech told me that my high beams was not working so he failed me for inspection. I and very upset that instead of confirming with me so that I can show them they work. They just take my money and say nothing. I will never go back to this branch or any pep boys if that. I bad apple spoils the whole bunch. Very upset. I’m gonna call my bank and dispute the charge as I feel I’m wrongfully charged. Plus it seems like I was giving used motor oil from the looks of my dashcam. Very upset.
Terrible. Couldn’t balance my wheels properly, off by 2oz. Did say my wheels were bent, which they weren’t after getting it reinspected at another place. Will be complaining to corporate and getting my $90 back.

I brought in my 2016 Ford Escape today for an oil change and got exceptional service. Raj and Daniel were both fantastic checking in the car and offering advice on some questions I had about other issues with the car. They went above and beyond the call of duty. The mechanic was Lopez, who was extremely friendly and did great work. I will definitely be coming back in the future.
The front desk assistant was really cool and knowledgeable he almost knew what he was about to do and he asked us right questions, he told us the quotes for the car repair. He helped us finding what we need to do with our car for the maintenance and it was really quick.No answer and it was really easy plus the store has a lot of stuff you can go and check out and the stuff is pretty friendly and I would definitely recommend anyone who wants their car to be repaired or any maintenance checks to go in and get a quote and if you like it get it done.
Went in on a very busy holiday weekend. Eric was very pleasant to do business with. As I waited for my vehicle’s inspection and brakes to be done I overheard the staff being very clear on how long their wait would be and what to expect.
I only use this store for simple items like bulbs, wipers, etc. I have no experience with their car services. I purchased windshield wipers here today and had to return them as they were defective. The staff was quick and made the transaction effortless. I have no complaints. Staff was friendly, helpful and polite.
Excellent! I needed 4 New Tires for my work truck. in 15 Minutes i had purchased and was offered a wait to have them Install. This location was packed and for the amount of employees Their they managed to be fully functionally within a timely manger. the Female Hispanic manager was a + who bilingual ability but importantly able to multi task and focus on her store and handle customers relations. Team Member Travis! Very Very well oriented! A+++
They have been good to me so far. Not super nice but cheaper. I dont expect to be treated super nice in auto shop. They do their job well and I pay proper amount of money. Then, thats it. But you should know that they will not be nice or even threatening when you have a problem with them. I walked in today because I thought they did not give my car proper attention and the fixing schedule was delayed without a proper explanation for a week. But the first words they said to me was Do you want the car fixed or do you want to take it out? which implies if you want, take it. They left me impression that they are in charge and the customer should accept whatever they provide. If not, leave! I feel so bad. But I didnt take the car out because I need the car fixed by this weekend and I know its too late to bring the car another shop. Maybe thats why Pep boys is Pep boys and it is cheaper than dealers. I may use Pep boys again since it is closer from my office, but I should be ready to bring down my expectation. The same to you!

I really can’t stress enough how terrible this place is. Every single time I go no matter what is being done it’s a 2+ hour wait even when barely anyone else is waiting. The staff is rude when you ask for updates and you always see a bunch of workers just hanging around doing nothing. Avoid this place at all costs! I don’t know why I continue to torture myself
Great spacious store with a pretty decent stock. However I feel this store has so much wasted potential. The place looks like its needs a refresh. The staff isnt quite the best and they dont really make the experience any better. Ive been here several times for little purchases and even for a quick headlamp repair. Everything was smooth. I hope this store continues to stay here and get better.
Helpful and very well meaning but sexist. I went to get an inspection and was told it would be an hour. After an hour, I was told they just looked at my car and it automatically failed inspection because of the tint on the windows and the new law about tints. I asked if they could remove the tint. They said no and offered advice in a very genuine and well meaning way. But his first question was if I had any brothers to help me out. I said no and then he explained the technique for removing tint. It was ridiculously simple and something any human can easily do themselves. He repeated that it would be better if I had some brothers to help. I know he was super well-meaning, and the exchange was otherwise very pleasant. He was very nice and genuinely wanted to help. He felt bad about me waiting just to find out that the new tint laws wont let the car pass. But I was a little insulted about the assumption that I needed men to help me scrape tint and glue off my windows.
Terrible customer service, I had my fleet car there for an oil change and a NYS inspection. They quoted me for a two hour repair. After 6 hours they still did not call me . I then called and they said it was waiting for authorization. Moral of the story is don’t bring your car here !

Daniel and Freddie are the best service advisors! They are not only helpful but they are very patient to explain all. As a female going to a auto parts and service store it can be quite intimidating and you are made to believe that if you do not go with a man, you are likely to get ripped off. Its nice to see these courteous and friendly young professionals treat women with respect and dont look to up-sell on things one does not need. Daniel and Freddie stand out amongst their associates in this industry and I commend the management at the store on Old Country Road in Hicksville for empowering them to give such exceptional and valuable service. They both deserve a raise!!
Went for inspection on 2008 T&C, told 3rd light was out and cost was $52+labor but I picked up the car to replace myself. Discovered fuse had been removed. Store mgr said sorry and offered free oil change. Will never go there again for anything.

Horrible service. Moh had an attitude with me the whole time when I was simply trying to fix a problem THEY did when they did an oil change. Steer clear from this place. Can’t do an oil change right, on top of that they make you wait hours for simple jobs that normally take 15 minutes. Broke my car’s filter and said he wouldn’t take responsibility for it when the only place I’ve been going to is them. Unbelievable.

Well I find them to be slow and I had a 2pm appt.got there early. Come to find out that 2 of my tires where not there yet and should have been there at 12:00 so I had to wait took over 2 an half hours to put on 4 tires. Other then that everyone was very nice no problems there. Would I use you again YES just make sure parts are in the house when you tell customers. Thank you
Made an appointment over the phone for an oil change. The service desk team were really helpful and attentive. Mechanics seem knowledgeable, plus I was not there long. I was initial greeted my someone name Mike who took care of me as soon as a came in. He made the process a breeze.
Raj helped me with my oil change and was able to get it done within my window of time. In that time, he informed me of a nail in my tire, and also helped me install new batteries into my remote key. He was really helpful and I had a great experience!
I drive past this pep boys twice a day on my way to and from work. I stop in whenever I need a part and always find the prices reasonable. I haven’t had a service done here until now - I just purchased new tires from them during a great buy one get one free promo they ran for Black Friday/cyber Monday. The service manager, Raj, was helpful first on the phone and then in person. Freddy rang me up and recommended a few additional services but wasn’t pushy about it at all and was very friendly. Vijay did the service quickly and professionally. I have no complaints. A lot of people complain about large chains but the Hicksville pep boys does a great job and I trust their techs. I’ll use them again and would recommend them to friends/family.

We took our van here twice for simple repairs and not only did they try to upsell us on service that wasnt needed but they disconnected our vans air conditioning and we had to get it repaired at a trustworthy repair shop... because this place isnt trusthworthy AT ALL!Beware this Pep Boys location!

They had a sign saying armorall floor mats 20% off instantly, went to register the guy ringing me up was awesome, called the Louis the manager to change the price and the manager proceeds to tell me that the 20% off is only for the black mats, the sign did not say that or specified which mats, wouldn’t even give me the discount just said only the black ones and walked away, this location just lost a customer

The worst service ever. Went there few times for oil change but last time they said oh something is wrong and that last time whoever changed it closed it too tightly or something. When I told them ive been getting oil change for them, they didnt care and said nope... Thats the reply I got. I will do anything not to go to there. There is no such thing as customer service there.I see that manager has responded. After the incident happened, corporate email was sent and nothing was done so why bother with this response
Scam artists. Get a second opinion before agreeing to work, or better yet, take it someplace else. I went in for two front tires, and the y wanted over $250 for the cheapest they have. Then they said I needed new brakes and rotors. Needless to say I took my car elsewhere and paid 180 for the tires which were not the cheapest, and we’re comparable to the tires I had on the rear. Additionally, my rear brakes were thin, yes, but my rotors were fine. They will try and sell you things you don’t need and make you pay more.
I had a synthetic oil change done here. The mechanic did not tighten the drain plug properly and I lost about 20% of the oil I had paid for in the service in the 26 hours it took to find out
One of the worst customer service and this place takes unusually long to get job done. Waited for like 3 hours for a simple wheel balancing job when I was told an hour at the time of inquiry and about 2 hours for a flat tire to fix, when I checked on the car in garage their techs were chilling and having fun while the car was sitting there.I dont mind if they are upfront about the time it will take and mention it during inquiry, but what they do is just so wrong. Dont take their word if you are here.

Recently had an issue with the shop, but got a sincere apology from Moh in the service bay. The issue was resolved and its good to know guys like Moh and his crew are in this shop. I will be back for oil changes and other maintenance in the future.

Unqualified and non accommodating...I had to cancel my appointment at Pep Boys in Hicksville, NY because even though they offer installation appointments they called to tell me the staff is not qualified at that time of the day. They only have qualified staff on during certain hours and on off hours (7pm) the folks on hand would not be able to complete the task...installation of a hitch that is consumer installable.They asked if i could come in earlier on the same day after i already said that i am at work and 2 hours away...they called at 2:30 for my 7p appointment. Even if i left work before ending the call i still would not have made it there before their qualified technicians left for the day.Why would any company, especially one dealing with the safety of its customers, have unqualified technicians?

Story starts on saturday...made an appt for a 3pm state inspection and was told it will take 40mins. Reasonable avg time for the inspection so we waited......its been 1hr30mins and were still waiting. Right as its about to hit the 2hr mark they come out saying their machine is broken....... they tell us to call them the next day to check if the machine is working again..we did, its broken. Called today, yay its working told it would take about 5mins since we already passed... we walk in told it will take 10-15mins, were still there after 30mins. As i feel frustration rolling off of my family, i see our keys come out. Omg finally.If you want to play a waiting game, this is your placeBut i would recommend going somewhere else. Where they value your time as well as theirs

Called before going for a front end noise. Without looking at the he tells me its a bad axel and cannot fix it since its a sat. I had to argue with the guy to at least take a look before making a judgment of axel... Perhaps alignment.. He grudgingly takes the car.. Sits all day without anyone taking a look 30 mins before close I go to pick it up.. And he says.. Nothing is wrong.. And I leave the place. Not going back there in a hurry..

Do not get any service done here. Stated they did the tire rotation but never actually did it. I know this as I marked my tires prior to dropping it off. My neighbor had the same problem but I wanted to try it out as I never had an issue prior with Pep boys at any other location. Not sure what’s going on at this location so just stay away from it. The service is really bad when you call and try to find something they are really rude and they hang up while you are still trying to figure out which store has what you want. I think they’re really disrespectful
Awful! Predatory! Went in for an inspection in March, and they found a multitude of safety issues with my car, and wouldnt pass it without fixing everything. (Its a 2006 car that I maintain regularly.) Now I have a noise in my car that another mechanic says is a faulty front strut that they replaced. Today, Pep Boys told my wife that the noise is made because its new parts rubbing up against old parts. Really??? Then wouldnt everyones car be making the same noises all the time?? Its a joke. They are the worst. Corporate will be hearing from me, and strongly thinking of disputing all charges.
Wish I could give 0 stars, was told it would take 2 hrs to do 4 tires on my car a job that should take 45 min I know because Ive done it. 3 hrs later, it still was not finished. Than when I looked in the shop, 5 guys were standing around the car not doing anything.

This store deserve a 10 star rating because of the fantastic job the mechanic did on my car his name is Leon but I think they should work more better with management and the entire desk because when I was at the store Leon was the one that had to write up my paperwork and plus do the work on my car so Excellent job to Leon and Great customer service. And would definitely recommended my friend and family to him at Pepboys Hickville NY.
Not very good. I have better luck watching YouTube tutorials and doing the repair myself. Got lights changed and less than a month later theyre out and they wont do an exchange. Associates also do not seem very knowledgeable and prices are very high.
