My niece saw this place on one of Mikey Chan’s videos so we gave it a try. We specifically went there for the green tea beignets. They were pretty about 10 small beignets to an order. They came covered in white powdered sugar and a green tea matcha powder which was very pretty. Unfortunately they were plain dense doughy bites and the sugar added sweetened but the green tea flavor was super light. It also came with a small container of honey that helped add a bit more flavor to things. We also got frappes that were really, really good. Our last taste was a delectable yuzu cheesecake. The citrusy flavor was well balanced with the creamy cheese flavor. Our 6 year old devoured it.The place is cute, clean and the service friendly. Overall a great experience but wished the beignets had flavor.
The wife discovered this place from Mickey Chan which made us check this place out. The beignets were yummy. Unfortunately, my hot chocolate ($3.25) & caramel iced latte ($4.75) were not filled all the way. I asked for easy ice also. So no attention to detail. Would have received 5 stars but Ill go with a 3 for the drinks.
4 stars because of no consistency in the Vietnamese coffee. The first time trying were perfect that made me coming back. Second time, still look good but taste is not so great, the coffee taste burnt and sweeter. I may come back and give it another try since both time I went, employees were very nice. If coffee keeps being inconsistent, I wont be back.
I really want to like this place..it’s cute/cozy. However, the cashiers/baristas aren’t the friendliest, and the drinks I’ve gotten have been average, and they also never have almond milk as a milk alternative. Decided to attempt soy milk since I was already there and although it tasted okay, I regretted it afterwards. I’ve tried both versions of the beignets and they are good, but very dense. But with three visits and no almond milk available..I probably won’t visit very often anymore, if at all.
Great service, calming ambiance--love the soft jazz playing in the background--, and delicious drinks and snacks. Their desserts are particularly good, though I wish the matcha beignets had a stronger matcha flavor. Their fries and spicy mayo sauce are great too, but the karaage was lacking. Still, a good place to relax and enjoy some tasty treats.
Very quaint. Nice place to come and have a delicious cappuccino. Their espresso is great. Ive never had the food but it all looks great as well.I love coming here but they never have any actual brewed coffee ready. They just offer an Americano. Just take it off the menu 🙁Theres also only four outlets and four small tables so if your looking for a place to do work dont come here when its busy.
We visited on the Sunday afternoon. It wasn’t crowded as the GG maps suggested, but as first we did not have many options to pick where to sit. The tables near the wall have cable but not the big table in the middle. Really nice store to study and do work. The music was chill and not noisy at all. They cleaned the table when the customer leave. The drinks was good (it’s average) as well, the size of the cup is like grande size. Area is spacious for parking as well.Visit this place again, and it’s completely crowded. Also the customer service is wonderful.
BLKdog Coffee is one my favorite lowkey coffee shops. Beautiful and cozy interior with soft, lovely music to match. Pretty good selection of lattes, baked goods, and desserts. They also have some small bites as well. Pricing overall is pretty decent. My visits so far has been pleasant each time.I recommend this spot of course although I wouldve loved to keep this place as my little secret haha. However in this season of giving Im sharing my review of this lovely coffee shop! This spot is so perfect for solo time or a calm/relaxing meet up with a friend. There is plenty of seating, outlets, and lovely views. The cashiers/baristas have been patient and respectful. The location is convenient as I have never had an issue with parking. Keep up the great work BLKdog Coffee!
If Marie Condo got into the coffee business, I dare say this cafe is what is would look like. Really nice interior with great touches (different lights over each table, books) great you inside, that is minimalist yet cozy. Well pulled espressos, lattes and killer crepe cakes brings the experience together. Throw in some loungy music and you have the makings of a space where one could easily while away hours!
I shared the affogato drink and it was delicious, great if youre trying to wake up. We complimented them with the beignets (matcha and regular) Would recommend, they tend to get busy
Cappuccino was too milky and bean quality wasnt great. Tasted like a classic Starbucks drink or something equivalent. Staff was friendly and atmosphere was great. Definitely wont be coming back though, thought it was more of a local coffee shop but felt like a chain (no idea if it is or not).
I met a colleague at Blkdog so mine is kind of a joint review. Blkdog is a very quiet place, good for reading or studying. It was not ideal for a business conversation and we continued to realize we needed to keep our voices down. My colleague ordered an Iced Vietnamese Coffee, and she insisted it was the best one she has ever tasted. I went with the old standby: drip coffee, black. The coffee was a dark roast, which was exactly what I wanted. It was a good coffee, but not special. When I was leaving, I had about a quarter of my cup left. I asked for a top-off, to put coffee on top of the quarter of a cup that was already there. The barista said they don’t do that, and I suggested that I was willing to pay for a refill, assuming it would be fifty cents or a dollar. He was set to charge me for a whole extra coffee, the full price. I don’t find this acceptable. It’s not like I sat there for three hours and asked for five refills. I said no thanks, and we left.I will not be going back to Blkdog unless I hear somehow that this policy has changed. They had cookies that looked really good, and a couple of other desserts, and the Iced Vietnamese Coffee got rave reviews, so I can suggest those for future newcomers.
The two girls working today during closing were not very welcoming. We werent greeted, it was almost as if we were bothering them.My friend was about to tip and the cashier exited out of the option before even giving her the opportunity. When I went to get my drink I thanked the other woman working and she didnt even look at me.Their boss then came in to let them know that people had been complaining about their attitudes and I see why. As soon as she walked out they continued to discuss how they werent rude at all and carried on laughing. It would be a shame for the nice establishment to be tarnished by poor energy and passive aggression. 3 stars because their drinks taste super natural and fresh but maybe they need to get people who actually want to work there.
Nice boutique coffee shop near Bellaire. The coffee is awesome here with nice dessert pairing options including the matcha beignets and crepe cake. The only problem here are seats availability since mostly are taken by students with laptop for studying. I can see why they like this place more than Starbucks. Highly recommended to all. We hope next time it wont be that crowded.
This dirty chai frappe was just the pick me up I needed. My boyfriend got there iced mocha which was a little too sweet for me but the mocha was nice and dark. They had a nice aesthetic. Their style seem like an old study with a modern twist. Id come back to get work done and have good coffee any day.
A home-like ambiance, very relaxing and all the staff is extra nice and accommodating. The service is outstanding even under heavy traffic of people coming in; I was astounded at their professionalism and efficiency. If youre looking for a hole in the wall coffee shop that will blow you away, this is definitely a must try!!!
Maybe the cashier got too comfortable with me and think I’ll be here no matter what considering I am a long term customer. Very rude and I wouldn’t come here anymore. At least be respectful to your long term customer who comes here everyday. I wanna thank the owner for being very thoughtful and offering a nice place to study but the employees are .....
My friend told me about this place, so I finally decided to come check it out. The lot its located in was super crowded, so parking can be tough, but luckily I pulled in as soon as somebody else was leaving. Upon entering, I automatically thought the place was really cute and cozy. Since my boyfriend and I had never been here before, we took a moment to look at the menu. This was a bit awkward, since the menu is located right behind the cashier. I couldnt decide what to get, so I went ahead and got a vietnamese iced coffee, and my boyfriend ordered a latte, which totaled to about $9 with tip. We went ahead and sat, and our orders were brought to us. The vietnamese iced coffee was too sweet for my liking (still good), but if you have a sweet tooth, I definitely recommend it. I preferred the latte my boyfriend ordered; it was perfect. I plan to come back and try other drinks, or maybe just get a latte again!
Their lattes are amazing, always leaving you wanting more. I especially like the chai latte and the affogato! I also saw on Instagram a picture of their matcha beignets and was so excited to try it. After a bit of a wait, I was very underwhelmed with how it tasted. As someone from Louisiana, you can get that item better elsewhere. But the place is quaint, quiet, and a great place to study!
I ordered a hot caramel latte, my friend ordered a hot regular latte, and both were excellent! The shops decor was very interesting and suited the space that they are in.The bathrooms were very clean, the bar was spotless, and the dining area was very well kept. Finally, the staff was quite friendly, and the pink haired lady brews an excellent latte. I will definiteley be returning!
This place is absolutely wonderful! charming space, really friendly baristas, and the BEST matcha latte in town (get it with oat milk)!
Love the coffee here and the place is great, nice to have a coffee here the staff are very friendly and nice.
Rally good coffee! Better buy local and this one is better than any Starbucks cup I ever had. They will take their time and care for every order.
Fun place, good coffee. The guys running it were helpful towards us travelers and have is great incite on what to do in their city.
You will be treated different if you are not white or Asian. I have been coming here over 6 months at least once a week to study and and I really like the environment here, however, I have decided to not come here anymore. This cashier guy even talk disrespectfully to me and my friends and I have over 50 transactions made at this place. I can’t believe I have tolerated this behavior for this in exchange of their SHI*TY behavior but no more.
Located in a small plaza strip alongside a few restaurants and dessert places, this is the latest cafe in Chinatown. It is near Ohn Korean Eatery and Mein Restaurant. That also makes parking a bit difficult. We were not allowed to park at the plaza across from the lot. Your best bet is street parking or waiting for someone to leave.Walking in, it was pretty quiet for a weekend night. A very vintage feel to the place with simple seatings. You can see large bookshelves around the walls. A good atmosphere for a study session. We came here for mostly desserts. They seem to have a few options for snack bites.Immediately the matcha beignets caught my eyes. We also ordered the yuzu lemonade and matcha creme. Matcha beignets turn out to be beignets with matcha powder sprinkled on top. I was quite disappointed. Other than that the beignets were alright. Lemonade yuzu tasted like a regular lemonade to me.On the other hand, match creme was a bit too sweet, nothing too special. Similar to a Starbucks frap. I think this cafe is a good place to chill or study. I was not too impressed with their menu options. The staff, however, was friendly.
5/5 stars for the beautiful decor and European vibes. I got the tiramisu affogato and my friend got the classic affogato and we both instantly loved it.Their takoyaki was also very good.I honestly love this place a lot because it reminded me of my time in Europe. For a moment, I was happy! Their coffee and treats are all good. 5/5
A plethora of fun dessert/snack options on their menu. I’ll be back to try them all!
The drinks were delicious, the lobby was extremely well taken care of, and overall the aesthetic was amazing! The staff were friendly, and definitely very informative on the menu; the very nice lady working the counter the evening I went patiently and kindly answered all of my questions. Try the green tea lemonade! It was so refreshing.
Very attractive interior design feels very at home and green because of all the plants. Their takoyaki looks very tasty!!
Brendan is a very hard worker and hell make sure youre taken care of
Clean, chill environment 2ith an adorable atmosphere. Perfect for studying or meeting people. Environment is quiet, its not overly crowded and fairly easy to find a good spot to sit at. Plenty of outlets for computers, though not every table has one right next to it. Both their food and teas are delicious!
Always a great place to study, read etc. Do be advised that there are few outlets so bring a spare battery or mobile battery. The drinks have been great overall. The only one I would critique is the Vietnamese coffee which was more froth than anything but it has been awhile since I last ordered that so it may have changed. Idk. Overall a great place
No black dogs in sight, good coffee
The atmosphere is very nice. Its a great place to study or have a coffee date. Soft music and modern plant decor throughout make this an enjoyable spot for solo or intimate meetups. I had the green tea lemonade, which was refreshing but a bit salty. They also serve a variety of fries with dipping sauce and various desserts. Definitely a hidden gem in Chinatown.
Nice discovery tucked away near Houstons International District. Good variety of drinks and snacks well prepared.
One of my favorite coffee shops in town. They have great coffee, a wide menu selection, and food. The shop is gorgeous with a beautiful chandelier over a picnic table in the center. It glows with plenty of natural light and a great place to take pictures. Simple but chic. Plenty of parking and free wi-fi. A great place to meet or to get work done.
I really enjoyed this place. The vietnamese coffee was so good! Cool vibe. It does get very busy here. I was only in Houston temporarily so I will miss this place!
Great study vibe on the weekend. Quiet music and super friendly staff. The black tea lemonade is a sweet and refreshing choice, or the iced Vietnamese coffee if you want some more caffeine
Good coffee, super cool atmosphere. Definitely wish there were outlets at more than just the tables by the wall. Still a great place to work for a few hours.
Beautiful atmosphere, awesome service, and delicious coffee and snacks. Love coming here to do work and meet with friends.
Some of the best coffee on this side of town
So quaint and beautiful. Absolutely stunning environment and fantastic coffee. Great staff and a unique and wonderful place to have a long conversation with an old friend. LOVE IT.
The workers are so nice and sweet here and so attentive if you need anything. Studying here is also relaxing when it’s not busy, but even if it is busy it’s not that distracting since people usually aren’t that loud. The drinks are also really delicious. I’m not that big on coffee so I can’t say anything about that but the chai latte is so earthy and not overwhelmingly sweet, same with the matcha. I’m definitely gonna keep coming back.
Absolutely delicious!!! This is my kind of coffee shop. Clean, gorgeous environment, great staff and even better coffee all at a reasonable price. Words cant describe this experience. Just had the tiramisu espresso and it is magnificent. A must try and daily regiment to get through those late mornings and lazy afternoons.
For a place with Coffee in its name, youd think their coffee would be better. I was very disappointed with my order. There was no choice of roast, and no information on what beans were being used that day. The plain black drip coffee tasted so similar to convenience store coffee-- generic, bulk coffee with no heart. A cup of black coffee here cost more than a plain black coffee from Whole Foods. As a coffee lover, the flavor and the experience made me sad.My friend ordered fries which turned out to be very salty tater tots served with a plastic cup of ketchup. No special flavoring, but they did have a sprinkle of dried... parsley or something green on top. Meh.Three stars are for the environment which is very cute and quiet, great for studying or a long chat with a friend. There was clearly effort made to look cozy and stylish, and it does look good. The plants need some love though-- some of them are close to dying. Also, a note: it would be great if they offered regular glasses or recyclable cups for the water instead of styrofoam cups. All in all, if a friend invited me, I would begrudgingly return. I really hope their coffee offering improves.
Tiramisu is amazing!! Great place for coffee products, and yes, way better than Starbucks 😁
I visited this place a little bit late and they were out of Beignets or Beignet dough so I wasnt pleased by that, I ordered an pumpkin spice latte and was just right not super sweet like some other places and hopefully will go again on an earlier time and have time to try more items and be able to do a more complete review. Definitely I will go back.
Good environment but hard to find a seat. Many students study here. Wifi is good. Coffee is nice.
The drinks are delicious. They were out of desserts the last time I was there. But their affogato made up for it.
My go-to spot for studying, here weekly and for good reason. Love the aesthetic, the ambiance, and the chill atmosphere. Coffee and espressos are really good, and the snacks, fries, desserts are great as well.
Friendly staff and lovely ambiance and decor elevate this space, IMO. Almond latte was solid.
Great coffee shop. Cozy little place that serves you in proper cups and mugs, unlike the other guys that serve you in to-go cups. Really like the ambiance and they also serve tasty snacks.
I asked the the barista what changes they are doing during the current city mandated boil notice. She said this area isn’t affected. I pulled up the map of the affected areas and she said oh I didn’t think we were let me talk to my manager. Manger didn’t say she knew either but explained that the water from the expresso machine gets very hot. I said ok sorry I just don’t feel comfortable ordering. After that the barista reassured customers of the hot water used and said iced drinks should be ok. If they use store bought ice then yes this would be true but based on their lack preparation I highly doubt they use store bought ice on a daily basis* NOTE this boil notice was posted the night before and I come in at around 4:30pm.The reason for the 1 Star. After kindly informing them of this boil advisory I was told to leave by the manager about an hr later because “seating is for paying customers.”I was studying like everyone else in the coffee house and the place wasn’t crazy busy. You would think considering I actually helped them out they would be an exception to that rule this once. So with that response and the obvious Irresponsible management of not knowing or either not informing her employees about this temporary safety measure are my reasons for the review.I was planing on coming back another day to try their food and drinks but now I’m turned off.
This place is super cute & has the best customer service. Seems like a great place to study. I would highly recommend this coffee shop😁
Mango-pineapple shake is all that i tried and i loved it ! Great environment to talk with people and chill.
Awesome twist on conventional ice cream. The shaved ice ice cream was amazing. Quick and friendly service, will be returning whenever Im in the area!!!
Great ambiance. Small and quaint. Only concern is my mocha was a tad on the sweet side which seems to be a what others in previous reviews thought about other drinks.
Coffee was delicious, but they wait until they open to start on the beignets. Cant someone get there early to have them ready for opening?!
Fantastic coffee place! Love it! I wish there were more of these in town and not those tasteless coffee chains....
Enjoyed the layout and decor. The food and drink menu was pleasant as well. We got there kind of early so we missed out on trying the matcha beignet. Would recommend anyone to stop by.
A nice decoration, and relaxing environment! I enjoyed a lot!
