This place was awesome. The food was delish the staff was very friendly. What more can be said. Delicious food great staff. The fried pickles were awesome! The turkey melt was HOT and delish. The fries were freshly cut potatoes that were so flavorful and piping hot. Overall totally delicious food.

This was our first time visiting and we were very satisfied with our food. Everything was tasty and hot. I especially loved the Texas toast that we got with our food. The only thing I did not like about this place is there is not much of a variety on the breakfast menu. Most of the french toast and pancake orders come separately or with just meat so you would essentially be buying everything a la carte if you wanted it to come with hashbrowns, bacon, grits, etc. So, I feel like this place is very expensive but you do get a lot of food for your money.

The service was great the food is on the pricey side but its well worth it once the plate is set in front of you. The portions where big the quality of the food was good the flavors of the gravy and the green bean where so on point. And the chicken fried chicken was crispy n the batter was tasty.I dont mind paying for food if its well worth it .And it was worth it. Its 5 stars for me

It was my first time to dine here and it does not disappoint! The pancakes are very fluffy - even after a few days later when I ate the rest of the pancakes at home 👍👍👍; servings are huge (for someone who is more used to eating 4-inch-sized pancakes). The patty sausage was just the right flavors (not too salty as some restaurants tend to do) and the whipped butter was very generous. I came here for the coffee which was just the right strength. I find the decor very homely and their acoustic also prevented too much noise when its get busy. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. The aircon does get too cold - be prepared to wear a jacket if you are the type who is not used to very cold weather. The resto lives up to its description hearty breakfast combos, comfort food in their website. I would definitely come back!

You will not be disappointed!!! The best diner food EVER! Started with soft, hot bread (the softest)! We had the chicken fried chicken supper with sides, all of which were NOT TOO SALTY but just right ! The gravy was creamy on top of crispy fried chicken perfectly cooked! Sweet tea was NOT TOO sweet just right ! The desserts … high merengue with lemon custard (tart and home made) 2 inch pecan pie (rich filling ) make your way over!!! ( yes I am excited!!) We will be back !

Been coming here for 20 years and have seen fluctuations in quality over the years no doubt. But it’s 2021 and while they have a more limited menu and prices have gone up, the quality is honestly the best it’s ever been. Kitchen and ingredients are as they should be, excellent. Last year when prices went up I didn’t think the food quality at the time justified it, but now my meals are tasting very good and fresh no matter the time. Would be nice to see more entree selections come back on the daily special and even like a 10% drop in price if it’s ever possible but anyways that’s the review!

I am here currently and my food was not good, the waiter seems confused about substations. We got a breakfast pletter meal for my friend and he asked to substitute the pancakes for French toast and specifically asked how many French toast would he be able to substitute the 3 pancakes for and the server explained an even change but once the food was delivered by another server with 2 French toast he came after and said he could not swap them the same. Which would have been fine if he had not said otherwise and never came back and let us knowWe both asked for grits instead of hash browns and were both brought hash browns. I also asked for double sausage with the meal and he asked if I wanted patties or sausage and I asked for both and got 2i KS when the food came and after asking where is the patty he said oh....I then tasted the li KS and they were incredibly nasty and ask could he take them back and bring bacon and he asked if I needed the manager. I said no and he brought bacon back quickly. However when the check came he charged me for the $5.95 for bacon and I quickly asked for the charge to be removed. My canvases were nasty as well and overall I would not recommend ppl come here looking for breakfast at this coffee shop because it was awful. It was a waste and too expensive amd I did not enjoy my food or server.

What a turn around!!! The manager really stepped up for the long wait, but the most amazing part of our breakfast was our waiters Jackie and Clarance and definitely the kitchen staff. Both were so dedicated to their job, brought our food so quick warm and delicious. The manager and the staff were so attentive to both our tables. Definitely recommend! Also if you have a large table, we were told we could call in and they can place our table in the checking list.

Portion sizes are so huge here, I love it! I like to come here with my dad for breakfast. He gets the French toast and I get the Pancakes. We also both really love the omelets too!

Service started really slow. 10 minutes just to get a coffee order, server was all over the place, then another 10 minutes just to take food order. Food and rolls are truly average and pricey Not what I expected for a first time visiting. There will be no next visit.

It was your pretty standard breakfast. It was priced about the same as some of your breakfast joints like first watch, etc. I did not know that it was owned by the Pappas company. It was a bit more expensive than I like to spend for breakfast. The fruit cup of bananas and strawberries alone is four dollars. Two eggs by themselves are $6. The plate of breakfast in the picture not including the fruit or coffee is 9.95. It was good for one time and service was fine, but I probably would not choose it again in the future as my first choice. It was clean.

Our favorite Dot on I-10 in Houston has shut down. It was so nice and always very busy. So we went to the old original one on I-45 S. The menu was so reduced and you could not order full dinners any more.. They had breakfast and sandwiches for the most part. I imagine this is due to Covid but we will not return.

Definitely a family 💎. Hands-down the best 24 Hours spots in Houston. A 30 year place all my family members. We are 4 Generations Dots customers. It was a big deal to share this moment with my children.

Laid back, old school diner with very good chicken fried steak (hay merchant is crunchier) and friendly service; open 24 hrs. Fun fact: it was the first restaurant opened by the Pappas family in Houston.

Loved my visit there and especially our waiter Daniel who made it even better. Sadly that particular morning they didnt have the right bread for my Philly cheese steak sandwich and no Tabasco sauce but Daniel and the cook made it work. My Philly cheese steak was served on a sesame seed bun, which I actually liked better and Daniel offered me other options in place of the hot sauce ❤️❤️❤️ Our food was awesome. Oh yeah in the midst of it all I forgot my phone but my Hero Daniel turned it in and the other staff members made sure that it was safely secured in the office and it was returned to me with a smile. Definitely loved this place and my experience there‼️ Hats off to you all...Great team work❤️

The manager was not friendly. Bad experience the water is not filtered and the taste is horrible. Go to IHOP better service and friendly people. They make sure the guest are satisfied. Pies are good that was the only thing.

Meal portions are enough for two people. best time to go is before 9am there is a wait after 9 am but its worth the wait. Staff is helpful when ordering.

Id like to speak to the whole chicken fried steak eating community on this and say that Dots Coffee Shops chicken fried steak is the best in Houston and definitely the best I ever had. Its always cooked perfectly, combination of crunchy outside and soft middle (muah *chefs kiss). Its even in the breakfast menu. My family loves getting the jumbo cheesesticks theyre the perfect sharable. I really get a kick at the size of their dinner rolls. Open 24 hours. This is a keystone location in historic Gulf Gate Houston.

This place is amazing with friendly people, hot coffee, fresh food and great prices. You get plenty food for the prices just come ready to eat. We take the whole family and we alway have to go plates and ready to take a nap. Very big plates and the breakfast is breath taking. It’s good to know that there is a place you can go where there still is great customer service all day. Remember to spend your money wisely on good food . Don’t forget about the pies that are so so do delicious. I never have room but I take them to go after I wake from my nap. Thanks for great food good people with great service. Wonderful food and service. Our server was a Trainer and she memorized all 6 orders to the letter. She was pleasant and all smiles. We were there Saturday, the 9th before noon.

A Classic American Coffee shop...And a beautiful example... The Architecture is what I call 60s American Coffee Cathedral They even have a stained glass window!A huge ice cold glass front pie cooler, and classic diner faire....And the coffee! Classic American, hot and lots of it.The staff is wonderful, the decor is fabulous, the food is exactly what you want when you walk into a 24 hour coffee shop...Fabulous!

This place is overpriced. I pay 15 dollars for a kids meal. Because i added a side of sausages. Each drink was almost 4 dollars each. I dont mind paying but the quality of food is not that great. Big portions yes but that doesnt mean is good. Taste was blend. I wont go back to this place ever.

I love Dots. The restaurant feels like your home diner where everyone knows everyone. And the portion size is incredible. You get what you pay for. Food is always fresh 😋. Only thing, I always get flys flying around my table.

This was a great place to eat years back but now so many things have changed. They no longer serve you bread before your meal, its listed as an appetizer. They dont have a Senior menu and they wont let anyone over ten years old order from the kids menu, so if you are a Senior or dining with one and they dont want to eat much, they have no choice but to order a large entree or not eat at all. The food was sub par at best and we waited a long time to be served. I was disappointed to say the least, this restaurant use to be a go to place for breakfast and good comfort food, but not anymore

Ate here twice last week with my brother. Had excellent food both days. Highly recommend Biscuits and Gravy. Ren was an excellent server, attentive and managed me and my brother quite well which says quite a bit because we can be kinda difficult on servers.

Very disappointed!!! This is the 2nd time Dots have dropped the whole ball. I called in my order at 10:15, didnt get there until 10:57 and called to let them know Im outside. Ended up called 3x!! The 3rd being to the manager wanting to comp a dessert. No maam. It is now 11:23, my meal will be compd, as it was. Thanks. However, looking at the food, I would have been very upset at what I got which was almost $20. Months ago when I came to pick up my order, was told they didnt have what I ordered. Excuse me? Smdh. I cancelled the whole order after driving almost 30 min, same as today. Doubt Ill bother coming again. Do better.

Went yesterday and my childs order 3 jr burgers the meat was raw pink bloody in center like if rush it or jus didnt care i understand burger liltle pink but this was raw pink n bloody meat smh will not be going back.

I was really excited to try this place considering the high rating it has. I was really disappointed right away. I went to the restroom and they only had one stall. The one stall would’ve been okay but it was not even clean. The restroom was disgusting to say the least. Period blood on the toilet and toilet paper all over the floor. Considering they only have one stall you would think it would be maintained well. I ordered the grill chicken sandwich with French fries. The fries were burnt to a crisp, and the chicken had no flavor. It looked delicious but there was NO flavor. The lettuce had more flavor than the chicken itself. The meal was not worth the price I paid for. If you like your food with seasoning, this isn’t the place for you. Maybe their breakfast menu is better, but their lunch menu wasn’t that great to me.

Our waiter was very attentive and came to our table at perfect times, thus not interrupting us while we ate. Had not been to dine in since preCovid and I was glad to have good service. 🌻

It’s crazy how people either love or hate this place. The hospitality and service is to die for. The waitress made sure I knew there was pork in gravy. Ohhhh that gravy taste homemade, with some bacon grease. It was delicious! There side salad was a great size too, firm tomatoes with romaine and iceberg mix.

Dots is not what it use to be. We could go anytime of the week even after parties late at night into the mornings and the staff was nice and greeted us with a smile. Well now I went to pick up an order that cost almost 30.00 dollars and I checked to see if everything was in there. The steak bearly had gravy and the mash potatoes had no gravy. So I asked if gravy came with the potatoes and they said it was in the bag. Gravy was a small jello shot cup 1/2 way full. Then you get no rolls with your meal you have to order 4 rolls to eat with your meal. The people in the front at the register were rude especially the manager. This restaurant has gone really down and I will never recommend this place to anybody I know.

Dots has the very best chicken fried steak in all of the greater Houston area! The service is always fast and friendly. Their rolls are served warm with soft whipped butter that is just delectable. Good ol sweet southern tea and tasty hot coffee always ready. No matter who you are or where you come from...Dots has got to be on your list of places to eat.

Diners seem to be almost extinct in the Houston area. But this one is still around for a reason. Great food, Great Coffee. Great service. The menue is not a Traditional Diner menue.a little small But that could because of the pandemic All in All, great place. And they are open. Google said closed but they are open.

Good food, atmosphere comfortable, restaurant clean. Portions were great. Could have used a refill on my soda. Service was fast. Our server was polite and friendly and all of our orders were accurate.We went for breakfast; I have to comment on the biscuits... They were the softest, most delicious Ive ever had. Not too dry etc- just perfectly moist and delicious. I shared with the family and they all agreed how tasty they were. The eggs were good, and so were my shredded, grill cooked hash browns. Bacon was cooked just right also.Would return and definitely recommend. Pics were taken just before the place filled up.

We landed upon this gem accidentally and we are sure glad we did. The only negative we had was the parking lot is not that big and tough to navigate. There were five of us and we a variety from breakfast to lunch and even had the side platter. There was an over abundance of food and it was all cooked to our liking! The restaurant was a little over half full but we still got our food in a timely manner. The price was what we expected but when we saw the amount of food we got for the price it was a welcome surprise. Service was prompt. We wished we had room for the pie it looked amazing!

I ordered the short stack and hashbrowns. There was not enough syrup for the pancakes and the hash browns were severely under seasoned.The waitress insisted on my order even though I asked for more time.Food came fast, but the kitchen was burning everything and the smell traveled through the entire restaurant. It was hard to eat with the smoky burn smell around.I usually come here at night and its a better experience. It was pretty busy with a 35 minute wait.

My goodness. This place is amazing. Its food portions are out of the 1950s and at an amazing price. The people are amazing as well.

First time visiters to Dot Coffee Shop and it was a big hit; more specifically, the banana nut pancakes were phenomenal. The plate of three enormous, fluffy pancakes with fresh banana slices, whipped cream, and candied pecans were impossible to finish on my own (barely made it through one!). Certainly big enough to share! Our server, Vivian, did a wonderful job and was both surprised and excited to discover my spouse and I had never been to a Dot Coffee Shop before and she took it upon herself to be sure we enjoyed our first experience there. She was truly a joy and was genuinely pleased when we raved over the pancakes. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Houston, and we know our kids will love it too.

Always delicious food!! The plates are very big so if you aren’t super hungry or don’t eat a lot I would suggest sharing a plate. Per any Pappas restaurant the menu can be pricey but you most definitely get what you pay for in quality and quantity! Their breakfast is always good, my favorite is the French toast! They have extra delicious southern meals for dinner if you aren’t feeling breakfast foods. Try it!

This place has gotten worse. I ordered an omelet and it wasnt cooked all the way the eggs were extremely runny. My nephew had taken one bite from some sausage that i seen was pink on the inside. He spit it out. I paid my ticket because some stuff we were able to eat. I did tip my server the 15 percent tip because the food not being done was not her fault. They really do need to make sure the food they send out isnt going to make customers sick later.

On a past Friday I have recently visited Dot. My Server was exceptionally friendly & up beat she made several meal suggestions in which I ended up selecting the chicken tender salad. I found her service & knowledge refreshing. I would definitely ago again in hopes to get my new favorite server, Alicia.

We have visited many times over many years. Our favorite part of eating at Dot was the pancakes that taste like birthday cake.We visited again two weeks ago and things were not the same. The prices are much higher than I remember. Four of us paid over $80 for breakfast. Also the bacon was floppy and not very tasty. Worst of all the pancakes. They’re just regular pancakes now. Yes, they’re big, but they taste like what I make at home.They don’t need a glowing review from me. They have a minimum 30 minute wait pretty much all day. We can get a grand slam breakfast near home with no wait and have a better experience now.

The place to go for sure in Houston. I am a picky eater and I saw several things I would want to try here. I didnt even mind the 40 minute wait. It was totally worth it. My boyfriend had breakfast there which tasted pretty good and I had the pork chops over the rice with mashed potatoes. We will definitely return.

We decided to go back to our old college hang out to have the spaghetti and awesome bread and butter. I was sad to hear that the spaghetti was discontinued. The bread and butter was amazing as usual. I ordered the turkey and dressing since it was on the Sunday listings. The turkey was cold and very dry. I did ask for the gravy on the side but the turkey should hold on it’s own. I ordered a side of chicken and rice soup and that was enough to fill me up. I took my entire plate to go. My husband ordered the philly cheese steak and could only eat half of it. The waitress we had was not very good at all but as we looked around the rest of the staff was very courteous and worked efficiently so I don’t think that this waitress is representative of the customer service here. We had to wait a long time at our table and finally another waiter said he would come and take our drink order until she arrived. Then she never really checked on us then she gave us the wrong check. All in all I will probably only come once or twice a year now. I recommend that you share plates.

This a basic diner froze in time. Your vegan choices will be coffee salad and fruit plates. Its unpretentious huge portions, inexpensive, with great service pure Americana served right.

Yesterday my brother and I came here with my son . I had the French Toast with strawberries and he had the Houston omelette. Nevertheless we had a great waitress named Gloria . From the food to the service everything was awesome. I left a corner of toast . Cant believe I ate all that in one sitting .❤️

Quality has improved greatly, but isnt as affordable as it used to be. ( Which I guess is the trade off?) Also the service is a gamble. Some of the wait staff is amazing and others are not. However, I will say their breakfast is worth it. Way better than any chain restaurant.

Always a good place for brunch or for after hours dining. But lately, theres always construction in and around that area. Last time I went, it was closed. Unacceptable for a 24hr diner.

As I just wrote in a prior review from Texas, one of three places gave me bad food poisoning that evening. I dont know if it was the really undercooked fried eggs I ordered with our complimentary breakfast that came with the room booking, where we had lunch or the soup from this off the highway coffee shop on our way to Galveston. I ate my whole bowl, my partner had one sip suddenly not feeling hungry, as we only went in there to buy him coffee but were asked to sit in a booth. Very busy in terms of patrons. Quick service. We actually just wanted to pull off to a McDonalds for a large coffee, but the exits all went way past the McDs that then went nowhere near the actual fast food restaurant. So we pulled off here to simply buy coffee. Not sure which of the three places gave me food poisoning, and I have a strong stomach. If stopping here, maybe dont get the soup.

So many changes post COVID. The bread was different and the soft creamy butter was no more. The menu has been reduced and the prices have gone up considerably. The chicken fried chicken has increased from 12 to 18. This time I had a burger and the meat was salty. The service was great but with the price increase and limited menu I will not return any time soon.
