I visited this restaurant in north Houston and was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. I ordered pancakes, eggs and several meats 🍖 (bacon, sausage and ham) to try them out. The pancakes were very largely and pretty good. The ham was very large and tasty and the bacon and sausage were excellent. I will have to visit again to try more of their selection.

I really enjoyed the food here, wings were crispy and the breakfast was delicious. At 1st I felt they were a little pricey however when I saw the amount I quickly understood. Large portions! My eggs were not as hot as I like them but my waitress heated them up and I was pleased. Would definitely recommend Hanz.

OMG, I highly recommend this diner. Its super good and portion sizes are super big. A big plus for me is that our waitress spoke spanish and was very nice. Good job in having a bilingual waitress.

OMG! First of all I wouldn’t highly recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy. It’s a BIG NO NO! My family and I visit “Hanz Dinner” on Sunday October 31, 2021. Our vehicle was broken into, and- needless to say this seems to be an ongoing issue per say the waitress that surprisedly approached us at the table asking with the description of our vehicle if we were the owner. She stated that vehicles “ALWAYS” get broken into on the premises. She also stated that if police were to come out it could be months before they detected whom committing the break ins of customers vehicles because it happens too often. This response shows that the restaurant do not care and appreciate its guests, which is highly important for both satisfied and potential guest that are online researching restaurants. On another note, I personally think that someone who works at Hanz Dinner are observing customers coming in to dine and breaking into customers vehicle. It was out of the ordinary that out of all the vehicles that were in the parking lot that our vehicle was the one chosen to be broken into and taking some very important belongings. Also the food wasn’t impressive or to our expectations at all and my unresolved further issues means WE WILL NOT BE GOING BACK!!!! If I could leave negative zero stars I would!

Stopped in and ordered breakfast from here for the first time. The Shrimp and grits was delicious and very well worth the money. The size of the waffle will surely fill up any hungry man!! Nice, clean atmosphere and friendly staff. Cant wait to try other menu items!

The waitress was nice, and the chicken was very good and crispy. However, we found hair in one of our meals. We told the waitress, and then we spoke with the manager. They only took $2 off of the meal, instead of displaying excellent customer service and taking the full meal off of the bill. The manager didnt even apologize for the lack of following personal hygiene in the kitchen. Just because you service a certain demographic of people, doesnt mean that customer service should be poor. I wont be returning.

We were in Houston for a boxing tournament and wanted something other than boring IHOP! Goodness the portions are huge and delicious. Everything is made from scratch and tastes amazing. The staff was phenomenal and nice gosh I wish I could remember then name of our amazing waitres, she was the sweetest went out of her way to make sure we had a good experience! This will be our go to when we are in Houston!

Visited this place for the first time yesterday while getting my car serviced. I was very pleased with the food, and service. I ordered the “hot chicken” that comes in 5 different spice levels with eggs, toast, and fruit. It was really good. I want to make a visit again today. Pleasantly surprised.

I only got to try the jalapeno hush puppies. I believe the were homemade, but I didnt really like them. I didnt see or really tast the jalapeno, and although they were a good size they were fragile. PS any hush puppy that has corn in it I consider a corn nugget. These hush puppies had corn in them, lol 🤭.

The Manger there was very rude. Then when we tried to explain it was the waitress fault she was getting very loud so unprofessional. The food was good but i will never eat at this place again. I also told my friends not eat there till that rude Manger is fired. Arelia shouldnt be in leadership there

This was my wifes and I go to spot. We hadnt been in a while an decided to stop in. Our waitress hardly checked on us, I had to get up an ask for my own refill and napkins and the bill. Food came out and was very disappointing. The wings had no taste, my hashbrowns were burnt on top and I asked for them light. My eggs were cold and my French toast was also cold, the butter wouldnt even melt on them. Extremely disappointed

A fairly uninspired diner, with a decent sized parking lot, with decent food, at a decent price.I cannot comment on the service, as I picked up my order, but it was ready and hot when I arrived at the designated time.Regarding the food, the fries were pretty bad. They were cooked, but soft and unseasoned. The fried steak was fine, nothing special there. Their slaw was actually pretty good, though the mac and cheese and white gravy were on the bland side. Cornbread was sweet and wasnt dry, and a bit on the crumbly side if youre into that. The biscuits were also crumbly and light, but also pretty bland. They definitely benefited from the included margarine spread and jelly.

The Food Is Great - But when there’s hair found in it, the food should be taken off your bill. Instead they deducted $2 from my bill because “that’s how much that portion of your meal cost”.I just thought that was poor customer service especially because the manager said the owner enforces that policy.I ordered Chicken n Waffles as a meal, so it should’ve been complimentarily removed as a meal, bottom line. I will gladly remove this review when some time of resolution has arisen.

Well, let me start out by saying, Lisa, the waitress, was a breath of fresh air. So attentive, funny and made everyone feel welcome. The food, very good. My wife is picky about breakfast, its not her favorite and to find a place to do eggs the way she likes is truly a find. She had the Sunny California Avocado Sandwich and it was perfect. I had the amazingly huge chicken fried steak and eggs. It was so good and way to much to finish. We will definitely be back and try them for lunch.

Probably some of the best southern breakfast food Ive had. The catfish and Grits were amazing. And the pancakes 😍. Definetly will go again if I visit Houston. Also excellent customer service

Is it me or the quality of the food has gone down over the years, I remember when the food was wonderful and now its not worth it. Maybe they should find another food supplier because if it keeps going this way they will be out of business, not to mention a better class of employees some of them has the worst attitudes Ive never seen, I use to would in food service/waiter and I never acted that way.

Had breakfast here a few days ago with the family, the waffle was big and filling. My two little ones enjoyed their pancakes. We also had steak and eyes and an omelette. I wasn’t a huge fan of the hash browns but over all the food was comforting and good.

The waffle is great. There are a lot of options for add-ins. I had mine plain, but my friends added nuts. The chicken skin was crispy and well seasoned and piping hot. Our waitress was very nice. The kitchen is a little slow but your food will arrive warm. Dont order the malt. It lacks the depth of good ice cream and there was no malt flavor. Its pretty, though.

Everything was fine until I watched them take ketchup off the plates of customers that were dining in and give them to the next customer. Because they claim “they’re unused” which they wouldn’t have a clue on whether those previous customers opened the ketchup or not.DONT EAT THE KETCHUP!!

I am a frequent visitor and have never been treated as poorly as I was treated today. I’m not sure of the position of the short, mid-shaped Hispanic lady, could be the manager, but her customer service was terrible today. The food was absolutely amazing this visit as I visited with friends from out of town. She was initially rude while we were trying to find seating but as we were waiting at the register attempting to pay, she assisted a Hispanic couple that walked up to the counter after we did, at a completely different register. I’d hate to think she had an issue with us for any reason, but it sure seemed suspicious. Especially the way she then asked us, “Are y’all trying to pay, yes or no?” That is no way to treat paying customers. She should be ashamed of herself.

After 25 minutes of waiting we were FINALLY offered drinks (which we were charged for) while the person preparing the drinks went to “find out who our server is...”. Im not sure what happened to the QUALITY OF FOOD. I keep coming back in hope that the food would turn out the way it was when it originally opened. It seems like it started going downhill when they were staying open till the evening. The service has been a hit or miss. The past few visits Ive been in with family Ive had to have my food remade because either the food was over cooked or under cooked. This time my fries were undercooked and didnt receive them until I complained that I was almost done with my meal. Another waitress came to the table saying that they were busy and has other customers to serve and they would be coming as soon as they can. I then spoke with the manager, Arely Anderson, because I couldnt understand why I would have to wait for others to be served before I can receive food that should have been served WITH my meal! I have to say I was very disappointed in how she handled the situation. I was told she would take off the cost of the fries only if I didnt get the fries! Apparently she said they told her I complain every time I come in, which is partially true because MY MEAL WAS NOT PROPERLY COOKED! BUT I have NEVER asked for a refund or discount on ANYTHING...until today. I used to come in 1-2 times a week in the past, but started stretching out months at a time because of the inconsistency of food and service. I will not be returning here nor recommending them to anyone again. I didnt even get one apology on the wait or mishap! Having a good manager who knows how to handle a situation properly makes a huge difference so I felt the need to explain to her how inappropriate she was, but still leaving a tip for the waitress. She then had the audacity to tell me it didnt matter to her what I left the waitress and that she prays to God that I never come their again! WOW!!! No worries there because I also noticed upon leaving that the cook DIDNT EVEN WEAR A FACE MASK WHILE COOKING/PREPARING MEALS at a time like this pandemic! Hanz review HEALTH SCORE shows having a 56 out of 100...which sounds about right! SO DISAPPOINTED because it used to be one our favorite restaurants!!
