Disappointing pies. This is my first time going to House of Pies off-season. And by off-season, I mean not Thanksgiving/the holidays. Pies always taste good around those times, and I never realized it until yesterday when I went to House of Pies. I think its the nostalgia factor that makes them taste so good. Anyway, the bottom of the Cream Puff was extremely soggy, the Banana Cream Pie had a whole banana cut in half and placed with the cream- not sliced or anything. The other pie- I cant remember the name, was also very disappointing. I usually remember the name of the food I eat, especially a day after eating it. But I looked at the menu online and still couldnt figure out which pie I got! Overall, extremely disappointed. Probably will stop taking pies from House of Pies to peoples houses for Thanksgiving dinner moving forward, which is something Ive done for a while now.

The food and the portions are really good, pancakes 🥞 are my favorite, very authentic home made feeling, but also the staff wasn’t very friendly, I asked for a coke and I got a coffee 🤔 however the atmosphere of the restaurant feels warming. They have a sign I have never seen before that’s why I got the picture, which totally makes sense, just founded it funny 😆

Had a craving for Lemon Meringue Pie, so we headed to House of Pies for lunch.Got great service and had great sandwiches, a Yummy BLT and a Patty Melt. Decided to take a whole Lemon Meringue Pie home. Really really good.

Love their coffee! The breakfast is tasty, flavorful, fresh and hot. The customer service is great. Not to mention their desserts are the bomb! You must try this quaint breakfast spot if you havent already.

Small town diner feel. I ate here for the first time today. We were sat immediately around 3:40 pm. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak with fries. The portion size was decent for the price. The food was served hot and was cooked to order. It didn’t have much flavor and portions of my meat seemed a bit over cookers because they were dry and chewy. However it was good enough to go back. They serve breakfast all day. My boyfriend ordered a Belgian waffle, eggs, and sausage. He enjoyed his meal. The waitress was helpful with explaining the most popular desserts. They have a great variety of pies and desserts. All of which looked delicious but I didn’t try any this time.

We went to get my favorite Key Lime pie; I was so eager to eat my House of Pies Key Lime Pie! Well, disappointment came quickly! When I got home and sliced into my Key Lime pie, the crust was burnt! In some parts the crust was missing or scraped out due to being burnt. I call House of Pies and tell Juan my Key Lime Pie is burnt. This where it gets beyond belief, Juan says no its not, I get ticked off because I am looking at a burnt pie crust, it even tasted burnt. I ask for the Manager and Juan puts me on hold and comes back to the phone and says this is the Manager. That sounds like a lie!Then asking for Joseph and Juan says He is gone and Juan says again he is the manager. I told him that I want a refund for this burnt pie, I live 30+ miles away. Juan says I have to bring the pie back. So me and my friend take the burnt Key Lime crusted pie back, I took 1 bite and the burnt flavor was all through the pie.The worst part when we get there is Juan lies to my friend that bought the pie and says that he never spoken to me and he did not know the pie was burnt....I was really angry. Juan had the nerve to check the pie and see if the crust was burnt when over the phone he admitted he knew it was burnt.My friend has the money put back on his card and no apology no compensation or offer of another pie.I do not recommend House of Pies any location, I have had a bad experience at 3 of them, so House of Pies are 3 strikes; they out!

Love the House of Pies!!Last time I was at the House if Pies was in 2008 after I retired and moved out of the area. Today we had time to visit our old home. It was so nice to sit and visit over a brownie with ice cream and a turtle cheesecake. So good! Flavors have not changed with the exception of the brownie. It has a kick to it. Personally, 4 stomach surgeries later, I cant eat spicy foods of any kind, so it would have been nice if the food server had mentioned it. Other then that, so worth the drive!

Very good fresh breakfast. Ordered sausage and cheese omelette but got bacon and cheese. But it was good since I hadnt had bacon in a long time. Hash browns and wheat toast always good as is the coffee.

If you have never been to house of pies, don’t walk….RUN! The pies are amazing! Coming from someone that doesn’t care for pies it should say something. I was sad that this location didn’t have the pie I was actually craving that night but was able to choose something else and still be satisfied.

Service wasnt very good. The dishwasher helped us more than the waitress. My food was cold. Manager was very nice & apologized. Once the manager came over with the changed ticket, the waitress tried to be attentive.

Always great customer service! Love that I been going there for years and still see all the same people! The shows a lot about the management and culture over there! I cannot say the same about the Kirby location! The worst experience ever with house of pies!

First time here. I ordered the fried chicken and eggs but they brought me chicken fried chicken. I decided not to say anything and try it out. Chicken had the crunch and moist inside,gravy was tasty. Pie looked good when I got it but I didnt really like it after a day in the fridge. I guess its something you have to eat right away.

They have the best strawberry cheesecake also I recommend the chocolate cheesecake very good .But not if you are trying to lose some weight though

A classic diner good for breakfast lunch or dinner. Sometimes you just need a simple meal prepared hot and a nice slice of desert. Enjoy.

After the convention and having No Breakfast I decided to stop to eat at a place I hadnt been in years House of Pies. I ordered the Ham n eggs with hash browns. But, the place is called House of Pies...well I couldnt leave without having a slice of my favorite Lemon Meringue! Yummy!😋😋😋🍳🥧😋😋😋

Wonderful macaroon cookies! Cars are wrapped around the building and people are patiently waiting to get in. I think its worth it! Wonderful service, lots of smiling faces.

I had recently moved out of Houston to Corpus Christi Tx and was back in my hometown to lay to rest my sis who lost her battle to cancer. I needed some comfort food really bad and the only place I know to get this fix was house if pies and they didnt disappoint. Food was delicious and very satisfying. Thanks for helping me get through that very sad day House of Pies.

I love the House of Pies in Houston Texas! Not just the pies, but all their food is very good. This was my amazing Texas breakfast, yes that is Chicken Fried Steak!

Unfortunately over the years it has definitely gone downhill. Customer service has suffered greatly probably due to covid. The food qualify has definitely been cut and is not fresh ingredients.Examples: Instant potatoes and cake batter(what it taste like) for possibly all pancakes and waffles.Their pies are definitely 5 star though 👍

I love house of pies. I like this location also because it’s not as packed as the other one. But my food was really good. And the service was quick. I don’t think you can go wrong come here honestly lol.

I dont know why I ordered shrimp platter at House of Pies but i think they forgot to peel all my shrimp. They left some shell on 3 of them. I would normally give a 1 star rating for that but my family loved the french toast, pancakes, waffle and cheeseburger so i gave them 3 stars. My shrimp were over cooked but anyways the banana split was awesome and the truffle cheesecake. I will give it a second chance so they can redeem themselves

This was my first time there and I absolutely loved it. The food, the service, the ambiance was great. Our server was truly charming, and gave us some great menu suggestions. She accommodated all our menu requests, and our food didnt take long. The food itself was delicious. I ordered a side of chicken breast and was expecting a tiny portion, it was a good 8oz of chicken; very juicy and flavourful. My eggs with cheese were also flavourful and not super greasy (as I requested) We ordered an almond cheesecake, yet they had run-out (they bake their pies daily🤤) so we had a plain cheesecake instead, OMG, that was super good, very moist, creamy texture and not extremely sweet.We will definitely be back here soon. It is a long drive from home, but totally worth it 👌.

I had ate here about six or seven years ago, the food was excellent then. As a Chef,I dont expect to pay $18.95 for a burger patty,fries,mashed potatoes and old fruit. The only thing that was edible were the fries,which I gladly ate. Nothing is worse than paying too much for food that wasnt edible.

My favorites are banana cream pie and chocolate cheesecake. The service here was as excellent as their pies/pastries.

Stopped by to grab a carrot cake, but they were out for the day, so I had a piece of potato pie and had the waitress make it alamode...it was good!...but, not as good as the homemade versions I am familiar with, but its still good!...the wait staff is outstanding, including the cooks and the Buss persons....the place is kept clean, and you can get a full service food menu, including breakfast, lunch and dinner...I would definitely recommend this place that has such a long Houston history...

French dip no onions 2 kinds if cheese French onion soup dips ajis. Oh yeah. He had Big breakfast 2 halts of French toast 2 bacon 2 eggs over easy 2 cups of coffee. 2 pieces of cantelpe. Half 2 go

I came here the other day with my sister it was our first time we both loved the food (pumpkin pie,German chocolate and brownie pecan sundae) and the staff was really nice. I work at a bakery as well but this is a whole another level

The club sandwich was good but the key lime pie oh my goodness was very great.

The coffee was ok but they are supposed to be great at the pies. They are not that good. Maybe in the past but not now.

We are here right now and the food is awesome. The man that ckeans the tables is on his job and doing it good.our waitress was the best. When I think of a strawberry pie I think of a sweet yet slightly tart pie filled with sliced Strawberries or (halfed) on the inside. not whole strawberries thrown into a dry pie crust with whip cream on top that is just Strawberries and cream on a dry crust. The sauce the Strawberries were in was like the sauce on the bananas at a Chinese buffet. I had Such high expectations for this so called pie house. You would be better off going to get a whole pie at kroger. They need a new pie recipe Pinterest has lots get a basic idea from there and tweak it to your own.

My favorite place in Houston to eat breakfast, either location. Here I love the griddle platter. The French toast is awesome. The OBrien potatoes are flavorful and tender. And you have to leave with a slice of Boston cream cake. The best dessert there

Huge portions and cant go wrong with some pie afterwards! We had to wait a while to get a table though but it was labor day weekend so it was expected. Would still go back.

If yall close at 10:45pm. You should change your closing time. Just drove 15 minutes for nothing. Make sure your closing times are accurate.

Cheesecake did not taste home-made, strawberries on cheesecake is the only fresh thing in the whole restaurant per server...lemonade and teas are allegedly store bought/ canned..

My very favorite place for breakfast any time of the day or night. Good food, friendly staff. Reasonable prices, not to mention 40 different kinds of PIE and cake and cookies and brownies. I usually get the chopped steak and eggs, 8 oz. chopped steak, 2 eggs any way you want them, potato choice, and bread choice (go with hash browns and homemade buttermilk biscuits). Coffee is not that good, but the pies and cakes are exceptional. Huge line out the door before Thanksgiving waiting to buy pies.

House of Pies is a favorite restaurant for a casual tasty meal. I love their chilli and had the house salad and bowl of chilli.The restaurant did not have full complement of staff so service times were longer especially at cashier.The operating hours have been cut back closing at 11pm.

Obviously the best pies in Houston. Love it everytime I visit. Had breakfast with Banana Pancakes. Everything was great. It can get crowded so plan accordingly.

Definitely a wonderful place to spend time with my daughter-in-law and my granddaughters. The desserts are always amazing and it has that small town atmosphere even though youre in the middle of the fourth largest city in America.

Good overall, however to go meals are not as appealing or satisfying as dine in.

Came here after a night of clubbing and it was open. This was pre covid so perhaps the hours are different. It was pretty clean and the service was a bit slow but it was because it was busy. I had the coconut cream pie and a fat salad that was absolutely delicious, crunchy, and tasty. I love coming here and pretty much always get the same pie. It’s that good

I love this restaurant so much but I really cant give more than two stars. But hear out why. This place is amazing for dessert nlbut not so much for regular food me and my buddy ate there we got the grilled chicken mine was the monetary jack sandwich and he was the chicken bread I will say the sweet potato fries are good but the chicken was bland and tasted funny, we finished 10 minutes later we both had to stop somewhere to throw up.

Only reason for two stars was the waitress gave lovely service. As for the food. Was mediocre at best. My steak was literally ground beef instead, the mashed potatoes were cold, veggies look disgusting I didnt even touch it. And the clam chowder soup is disgusting also if not eaten instantly. Also upon leaving the man charged me 6$ extra for no apparent reason. I didnt make a big deal and left it to him as a tip so they can better their food quality. This is honestly speaking I would rather have gone to jack in the box. Flat Out Disappointing for me and my dinner guest last night.

The pies are mediocre, and the prices are extremely high for what you get. $15 for a pie- wow. Plus extra if you want any whipped cream, which is kind of strange to charge that. The crust is not flaky but crunchy (overdone) and the filling over sweetened.One would get better in a Kroger, Trader Joe, Whole Foods, or HEB for pie or desert.It was hard to find the ingredients of the pies in the restaurant or on the website.Overall- it was OK. Maybe for a late night place as a last option.

The food was good and customer service was great. I like the way they serve the hot chocolate here as well.

Great atmosphere but frankly the food was just okay. I waited 15 minutes for a coffee refill and the burger and pie were nothing special. It says house of pies but their apple pie is literally just apple preserve in a pie crust with crumbles on top.

Excellent pies! It was my first visit so I got the six mini pie sampler.

My mom bought a so called buttermilk pie yesterday for fathers day. And the pie tasted straight like lemon. No buttermilk taste no nothing. She also bought a banana pudding cake. This is totally a ripoff. It tasted like banana nut bread with some type of icing. This is unacceptable especially for the price that was paid for these 2 items.

Classic apple pie (not Dutch) is hard to beat, and this place is true to its name. I feel like time slows down in here and I can just enjoy a good slice of pie with some coffee. Will never stop coming here, a Houston classic.
