Very quick, responsive, friendly, and knowledgeable! I began with a few emails to confirm that they had the means for repairing my flute (as they appear to be mainly a brass and sax shop) and Steven usually answered within a day. Luckily my repair turned out to be very quick so I was in and out within 30 min.

This is a little bit late (my purchase was about a month ago) but I really wanted to share how great my experience was with this store. I bought a vintage alto sax from them on reverb.com and they were super helpful, particularly Wes who was replying to my questions. I got a great deal and the shipping was extremely fast and secure. I was very pleased to see how much effort they had gone to in order to make sure the instrument arrived in the exact same condition it was shipped at! They are the BEST repair shop for saxophone (and also other wind instruments) in the Great Houston area for a long time. Steven did a wonderful sax adjustment work for me. I feel that particularly if you have pro horn that need adjustment or repair you should check this place first. Also take a look on their online store as sometimes they get nice modern used and vintage horn at a reasonable price.

I have taken my horn in for maintenance and repair here for years. Their staff is always helpful and they do great work. They also helped me shop for a new case that I love.

I had a last minute emergency and damaged my trumpet a few days before important gigs and auditions. I brought my C trumpet in and explained the situation and Chris and the awesome crew at Fleming fixed my horn on the spot. Couldn’t ask for better service. What a great experience I had once again at Fleming Musical Store. Steven and Wes provide excellent service and I can’t speak highly enough for how great these guys are. I brought in a soprano saxophone which I had dropped and damaged one of my keys. Was told the instrument would be ready by later in the afternoon, which I was surprised at - thinking they would need to keep the horn all week. But before I could even leave, after my very enjoyable Q&A session which followed, I was informed that my horn was ready. It looked brand new again by the way. Poorly Repaired Trumpet CaseThe latch springs on the case were broken. Arranged to have their repair department replace the latch and lock assemblies. When I went to pickup the case the old latches had been drilled out and new latches were installed that were not even close to the same type that needed to be replaced. Very disappointed and the case is a mess.UpdateCorrect trumpet case latches replaced the high school band style latches installed by Fleming Instrument Repair. Bought a reconditioned Yamaha YTR-8335 trumpet online for a reasonable price. In spite of the recent weather disaster Wes kept me updated on the status of the store and shipped the trumpet to me as soon as the store reopened. The trumpet is in excellent condition, plays well and sounds great. Excellent service and follow-up.

My sons trumpet bell was dented today, two days before the beginning of a series of performances, including a solo at UIL competition. We called Flemings this afternoon and Stephen repaired the trumpet while we waited. My father was a regular customer of Flemings for many years and highly recommended them. I don’t recommend this place if you are trying to sell your instrument. I’ve gone through the reviews and they are all great comments, but they are referring to their instrument repair service. As a previous comment mentions, this place is great for repairs but not the best to sell your instrument. I tried selling my instrument last week and left it there, the owner is not really around (understandable) so I had to wait a few days for him to get back to me. Once he did he asked for an offer, I wasn’t sure how much I could asked for so I did my research and called them back. I called them back and left my offer as a message with one of the employees since the owner wasn’t around. Couple of hours later the owner calls back only to say “we have plenty of your instruments we’re not interest.” he did not even give me a chance to negotiate a price with him. Yes, maybe what I was asking for was too much, but at least could have explained that to me or given me the chance to negotiate since I was willing to take less for it. But he didn’t bother to do that. In conclusion take your instrument here for repairs, but not to sell it. You will be wasting your time.

Im entirely unsurprised that their Google ratings reflect a lot of customer satisfaction.I just received back from them my Bach Stradivarius trumpet that was tarnished and dinged when I brought it to them. After reconditioning it — with ultra-sonic cleaning, reachable dent work, cleaning & flushing of all valves and slides, replacement of corks & felts, greasing of slides, soldering as needed, and hand-polishing of the silver finish to a like-new shine — my instrument is now in optimum condition, both visually and functionally.I also commissioned them to convert my first-valve kick slide (the design of which I find impractically awkward) to a first-valve TRIGGER — a moderately ambitious upgrade requiring new parts and a great deal of skill to properly install. My new trigger works perfectly, sliding my first valve slide out smoothly at a mere touch of my thumb, and Ill forever after be in better, more consistent tune on those low-register Ds and D-flats on which all trumpets and cornets tend to be naturally sharp.And they sold me a clever new ProTec case to replace my original equipment Bach case that was literally falling apart.The grand total for all this was less than Id expected — not cheap, but not overpriced either, and certainly a good value overall. The staff was friendly and light-handed in their recommendations; I was glad to get, and follow, their advice.

Hi. I’m a trumpet player and collector. I can play over 10 instruments. I have been playing musical instruments over 20 years now......I am also a black man.I called flemings instrument repair a day before and talked to a guy named Steve about selling an antique cornet.He said,“yes we buy them we have one in here now.”We went on to have what I thought was a GREAT conversation about that specific brand of cornet and about me bringing it in the next day for him to see it.He even told me to ask for him specifically when I got there so naturally I was thinking that this would be great.Maybe even a place I can do future business(as I do this for a LIVING🙄). So we DEFINITELY spoke about a cornet.I get there the next afternoon, was greeted by the EXACT same guy I spoke with on the phone the day before.I could INSTANTLY feel a bad vibe from him as soon as he laid eyes upon my dark skin.Then (after implying that I STOLE the instrument)he goes on to say,“oh I’m sorry I was under the impression that this was a trumpet not a cornet,we only buy trumpets here.”After we had CLEARLY spoken on the phone about it the day before.(I called first because I didnt want to waste my time taking it somewhere that DOESNT buy them.These people are DEFINITELY racist. If you are a minority or person of color under the age of 55, I highly do NOT recommend buying selling or trading with them.Just take your business elsewhere because they WILL insult you by implying that you STOLE what ever it is you bring to them.Two thumbs down 👎🏾👎🏾.......on a brighter note they do have an absolutely dazzling selection of trumpets. And an extremely smooth playing antique cornet. -that I played to show him that I was indeed a trumpet PLAYER NOT TRUMPET THIEF- I must say it was the absolute Cadilac of cornets, and if they’re trumpets play half as well as that horn did then they have the best upper brass instruments in town. I HAVE to give them that much😕🤷🏾‍♂️

I dropped my sax while marching and it wasnt correctly functioning after that. So I decided to take it to take it to music and arts, but they said it would take about a month. After a week I decided to pick it up and take it to Fleming to get it fixed. I got there and was greeted by someone you could already tell was a proffesional. He instantly found out what happened to it and fixed my instrument in 5-10 minutes. Best part of all was that he did it for free! I was very happy that they did this so well and for free! I recommend everyone go there, I live far from it but I will probably come back whenever my instrument isnt working.

One of the technicians Chris took care of my daughters clarinet while I waited. He fixed what I needed and let me know about issues he found that I could fix later. As soon as marching season is over Im going back for a complete overhaul on her clarinet.

These guys really know their stuff when it comes to repairing instrument.However, I tried to sell my instrument with them and after four months with no interest, found out it was being kept back for a local high school who ended up not purchasing the instrument. Then they found a local potential buyer who wanted to negotiate on the already low listing price....got fed up with no movement on the instrument, found a buyer on my own who paid over list.These guys certainly know their instruments and how to repair. 10/10 would take here to repair but not to sell.

Be really careful when buying instruments here. He sold me a painted saxophone instead of a lackered saxophone. Spent $1800 for something that isnt the real deal.

Was told they would change the pads and get it all cleaned up. The pads were changed but it was dirtier than when it was dropped off and then i was told cleaning wasnt covered in the coat. Instrument plays well again though.
