Lisle Violin has always been so helpful any time I needed help with my violin or my child’s viola! My violin is an older student violin that my parents purchased from them in the 90s that I just can’t let go of, and they are always nice about helping me when I bring it in for strings, bow rehairing, etc. They have also helped me with rentals and recently a purchase of a viola for my child. They are very knowledgeable and helpful through the whole process, and their rental credits that can be used for purchase really made me feel like I wasn’t throwing money away as we rented while my child grew. I have a younger child who is currently playing a school instrument, but I rely on Lisle when I need books and accessories and will definitely use them again when it’s time to rent!Thankful to have such a quality place close to home!

Every time I go to Lisle they’ve always been super helpful and attentive, no matter who it was that I spoke with. Most recently Mike at the Central location helped me pick out a new violin and I couldn’t have asked for a better shopping experience. Mike was super attentive and pleasant while figuring out how best to find what I needed. Can’t recommend enough!

I emailed Lisle Violin in what felt like a long shot effort to obtain an appraisal for insurance purposes for a violin my parents purchased when I was young. TWENTY-TWO MINUTES later (I checked), Carolyn in customer service replied with the receipt from 1997!! I am so, so happy to have gotten such a prompt and wildly helpful response, and to be able to have my beautiful violin safely insured in my apartment 24 years later! Thank you Carolyn!! Yall are the best!

Lisle is a great place for all your musical needs. I personally go here for accessories and rehairs. The rehairs by Dorian are particularly good. However, recent experiences at the store have been concerning and illuminate a potentially bigger issue: how instruments are handled and cared for within the shop. In the past two days, I have seen one employee hit a plastic screen with the tip of my bow after I handed it to her for a rehair. When I picked up my bow the following day, the employee helping me (a different employee) dropped my bow onto the counter instead of gently placing it or handing it to me. This may not seem like a big deal, but bows are delicate and any damage can be expensive to repair or easily cause a decrease in value. As a college student who has invested thousands of dollars into my equipment and is bringing my bow to a professional instrument specialty store, I expect for my bows to be handled with care and caution. If employees are treating my bow with blatant carelessness and disregard in front of me, it makes me question how bows or even instruments are handled behind our backs. Regardless if a bow is $50 or thousands of dollars, these are items that not only hold monetary value but personal value and deserve to be handled with care. Being an integral part of the Houston musical scene, I hope this store will closely scrutinize their instrument etiquette in order to bring the highest level of instrument care and maintenance.

I went without appointment and there was already a customer at the counter. But Grace helped me without keeping me wait. I was taken in separate room and she helped me with my requirements and was also keen on clearing my doubts.

Renting a cello from here for my wife. Very fair and reasonable renal program that applies the money you pay to rent towards a future purchase of the instrument (minus insurance costs). This was perfect for us because it allowed her to try the instrument out and see if it was for her before committing a lot of money to purchasing it.The staff were nice and polite and we have both really enjoyed our experience here.

They are great at what they do and I never pay too much there, the staff are helpful and knowledgeable about all of the products inside. Im pretty sure that everyone working there is a strings player. Great place to take your instrument.

Nice people! Theyre honest, patient, and have your best interest at heart. The only complaint I have is the amount of parking. The whole area is kinda hard with parking, but overall great experience.

Great string instument shop for school rentals and better instruments. Never had a problem and they even helped us purchase a used quality instrument when we needed to upgrade.

I enjoy coming here to rent my cello. I have been renting for 2 years now, and the total rental cost is the same price as just buying a cello. I recommend that if you have been playing for more than one year, and you plan to continue, that you should just buy a cello (or any other string instrument). Maybe not from Lisles, but from the string store you trust the most. For some reason both my orchestra teacher and my private lesson teacher both do not like Lisles, but I think it is a good store for beginners and intermediate player like me!

Very knowledgeable people here. We brought in an old violin to appraise, and the gentleman gave us an honest and non-biased opinion on the item. He could have raked us over the coals for a lot of money to repair it unnecessarily.

I wouldnt buy my instrument from here. Theyre one of the few luthiers avaliable in the Houston area, but their instruments are made by various vendors and vary in quality. All of their instruments are over priced and some of them are heavily lacquered. You can get a better instruement for the amount youll pay here.You can how ever find anything you may need for your instrument here. From pegs to bows and repairs.I cant comment on their music lessons because I havent taken or observed any. My review is strictly for the instruments that have.

Everything I get for my violin I get from here. This is the only shop I will trust to fix my violin or to get strings or new bows. Parking is tight and it is bad when they get busy cause of so few staff but worth the wait and just a suggestion do not go if you are in a hurry. Usually in and out pretty quick but it does get busy.
