Great low key commissary when compared to surrounding others that are far more reminiscent of opening day at Petco Park. The variety of products and companies are impressive but arent always stored in the most appropriate places so its somewhat of an Easter egg hunt. Take your time and peruse each aisle and shelf. I wished they had more healthier options such as grass-fed, organics, etc.
If you dont have a problem bagging your groceries, then its good. They have online grocery shopping, you pickup your stuff curbside. I wish I would have known. Its a small commissary has a limited supply of items.
This place is the best kept secret of all the commissary stores in the system. Never a crowd and always great parking. Great selection and a larger store. Would recommend this commissary.
In spite of problems with ID CARDS Im VA COMPENSATED DUAL PURPLE HEARTS since Jan 2020 I have commissary privileges. However lately my VA card wasnt accepted. We were told by manager Aaron Burcham we could not shop until we received new VHIC ID. Dutifully went to LA JOLLA VA applied for new card. However we were told it wouldnt arrive for 3-7 days & possibly longer as the agency is backlogged & staff shortages. My point is there should be a temporary why to obtain my well deserved privileges as a Compensated Purple 💜VET v/R don
Not much instock, but got what we needed and not so busy like 32nd st.Easier to shop here, with disable or ... person so much room to move.
Love shopping here. However, the vegetables could be crispier and fresher.
Everytime I come from san antonio texas me and my brother take a trip to the commissary Its great . The only sad is people waiting in line in the sun for their prescription so sad for the elderly
It is ridiculous that people are not wearing masks because covid is “over”, but they still haven’t brought baggers back! Why does 32nd st have theirs?
We live in IB and this commissary is conveniently located close to our house. It’s a small community but not too crowded and don’t have to live up to pay at the cashiers.
I was surprised by the size of this commissary for its location. It has a wide variety and the staff were all great. Currently due to COVID there are no baggers. Will definitely return to this location due to it not being as busy as other locations.
My favorite local commissary.
Really sad watching elderly retirees having to bag their groceries.
Employees at this location are consistently rude and unhelpful. The location is convenient however the selection is rather limited.
Take my moms here to get her groceries. Mainly elderly retired &/or dependents are at the IB location. Some prices are lower than outside base but Ive found some same as.
Big commissary for the south bay. It is old but is not crowed. It is great!
It would be better if CO allowed the baggers to return to work.
This our go to store. Nice and quiet, but still has a full selection of all your grocery needs. The butcher selection is usually excellent and the prices on meat, and produce are impossible to beat.
Love the commissary! I pay the beggars, even if I dont use them. Thats how they make money. Love all the workers. They work very hard, and it shows! Keep up the good work!
You can find just about everything here. Great staff and items shelved.
Beautiful weather and beautiful smile to everyone 😊😍
Clean store, not crowded.
A lot of great deals and no taxes!!
Inflation has hit the commissary.
Been shopping at the commissary located at OLF IB for 30 years, the best in San Diego.
Clean, lots of variety, getting more and more organic, none gmo, and the staff is happy and helpful!
Friendly people with necessary products available produce freshness kept current. Notification of limits on certain items clearly visible before you enter store and 100% ID check maintained.
Open and good choices of products. Thank you
Open to the military community only.Currently no baggers available. Small exchange. Gas station w/o air for tires.
Hidden gem for I. B. Military and Veterans.
It usually is something good on sale pretty decent prices
Small but with more coupons than the commissary on NBSD.
Always a pleasure shopping here. The staff there is always friendly and very knowledgeable. The selection is great and not to crowded
Great place to buy groceries for the military.
So convenient. Not too many people. Staff are friendly. Very clean and organized.
Finally new check out computers. They have peaches too finally in season.
Shooooooo best place dont tell.
This is a great local commissary if you are not wanting to drive to 32nd st. The commissary is usually not packed. The food selection in normal circumstances is pretty well stocked. I say normal because of course during covid-19 it was wiped out as well. It is perfect for small grocery trips or an oh I forgot moments. This location is slightly bigger than nasni.
I like this commissary because its hardly ever crowded easy in easy out.
Prices are super high but the storefront is nice and the interior is always on point. However it should be given the price you overpay. It’s convenient as well.
Very nice. Not crowded at all.
Awesome customer service
Hidden gem! Neve busy and has everything you need.
Great place to shop Sundays, not crowded and shelfs are full.
Love the commissary! I pay the baggers, even if I dont use them. Thats how they make money. Love all the workers. They work very hard, and it shows! Keep up the good work!
Well stocked, efficient staff. As good as shopping gets!!!
I shop here weekly. The store is well stocked, you can count on everything being available. And the store isnt a mega store, so can be in and out quickly. I prefer this to the larger stores, and the employees are very helpful!
It was great, the commissary was well stocked.
Staff always helpful.
Staff is always helpful & friendly. Items are ways easy to find.
Best commissary this side of 32nd street. NASNI has a better Xchange, but IB the Commissary’s produce is considerably better than NASNI’s
Small easy to get in and out not usually a big crowd but it closes to early 5pm give me a break
Great mask wearing and distance.
Great place to shop, very good service
Its nice and quiet. You wont find every kind of fruit but its great!
Great selection and some good prices
Great place to shop for groceries. Good selection good prices. Cashiers are always friendly
Usually nice and quotes, employees are always nice
Everything you ever wanted . . in a grocery store . . AND THEN SOME! Name brand quality products and discounted prices are second to none. This, of course, is a benefit to people and their families who serve in the US military.
Loved my first use in a very long time.
Great selection
This is where I go all the time I thank it is great all the time we do all our shopping here
Shelves are well stocked. Cleanliness is above average. The guys are very friendly!
FYI they close at 5 PM on Mondays
Dor a small commissary it carries all the necessary products and then some. I completely enjoy doing my grocery shopping in a small calm environment.
No longer meets my needs. I will use the 32nd st commissary from now on. Theyre better stocked. Just stopped for cheese, bagels and laundry detergent. Only had the cheese. Still had to go to 32nd.
Its clean and neat, first time in there.
Outstanding 👍...supporting Pandemic rules with physical distancing 😷
Manager and workers are always friendly. Ive been going here for years. It has a small town feel in this fast paced big city. This commissary is always improving!
Love coming here. Its normally not as busy as the other commissaries so I love that. Cashiers and baggers are always very nice.
When my family and I went, it wasnt even busy, great prices on food, and good customer service. Look forward to going there again.
Produce selection isnt great and even when they do have what you want it molds in 1-2 days. Meat selection is so bad we just go out in town.
Great gem tucked away at IB station. Perfect over, 32nd Street. Plenty of parking never crowded. Great place to shop
Quick check-out scanners fail OFTEN. VERY frustrating and takes an unnecessary amount of time to scan your items, thereby increasingly longer lines and wait times for shoppers. FIX THE SCANNERS!
Medium size, not to busy, actually have more selection than Coronado commissary. Employees are Great
Always friendly, well stocked, and as commissaries go - never crowded - which is the best part!!
Always has what Im shopping for. Friendly staff. Miss the baggers.
Good commisary to shop, not as busy as other stores, good service
Great commissary !! Small town type store, great staff, clean and easy shopping experience
I stumbled into this place expecting to be small because the size of the base it self but what I found was a tax free wonderland of items I have never seen anywhere else especially for the prices! If you have access to this naval base or the commissary I highly reccomend shopping here.
Not too crowded, low key!
Helpful staff, good prices.
Great prices, great products, and great staff! Also it’s never too busy there!
Usually good. Some items not stocked. No Fairlife Milk today...... again.
It was great, have everything I needed.
Such a nice place to go the people there are so nice customers and staff
Terrible service. All Filipino workers.. no one was speaking English, which is unprofessional to say the least. Speaking in any other language other than English in front of customers is ABSOLUTELY rude. It is an American military base.. we should be speaking English. The baggers expect to be tipped, but they dont even offer the service of bringing out groceries to the customers vehicle. Every time I go in to this store, I am disappointed by the lack of customer service towards us active duty personnel. What a shame.
Always a handy place to shop if you have the privileges.
Friendly, safe, stocked well, fresh.
Pleasantly surprised by the great selection at this location. They are off the beaten path and I dont have to deal with the main base commuters.
Never busy, easy parking, decent customer service.
Easily accessible. Friendly staff.
Nice people and prompt service.
Got to love the Imperial Beach Commissary. Great food and the Staff is always accommodating.
Good prices and a nice store
Fast and easy access. They need to have better work hours.
A good place to do shopping, Cons: not all vegetables are fresh, not all the hams and hotdogs are about to either expire or already past the expiration date, not enough employees to keep a good check on items, prices on most items are not constant, not enough restock of items for clients; Pros: great service, beautiful young female employees, they attempt to have a high variety of items in stock, also they attempt to have everything fresh and in stock available.
Awesome produce and very nice produce worker that willing to help above and beyond
One of the best kept secrets in San Diego. Great selection without the congestion of 32nd street or NASNI
