In my opinion the best selection and pricing for wood turning woods in metro area and other odd ball projects I do.

They have a great selection of hardwoods and exotic wood!Customer service is terrible! Beware of the lecture you get if you don’t read the sign about the 2.5 % CC fee! I was scolded after not reading the signs that are posted! Mind you there are signs everywhere! A nice reminder from the employee that they charge a fee for a CC would have been great. Instead I was told I should have read the signs!!I left feeling like I would never return there!! And I probably won’t.Not sure of the guys name but he needs to be in a different business! One he works by himself!! Just rude !!Jeff, yes I was, thank you for recognizing my 28 years of military service with a discount! Not everyone does that so I am appreciative!However yes, I left feeling angry after your response! Thank you for the apology.

Nice selection. Prices seemed a little high. The guy behind the desk did not bother us as we looked. When we had a question, he was very helpful and friendly.

Im an experienced hobbyist woodworker but new to turning. Their selection of premium hardwoods is great with most of their stock being nice and straight. Their prices are reasonable, especially when on sale, given they are a retail store (vs. buying from a wholesaler). Staff have always been helpful when I ask for help. Otherwise they leave me to my own devices as I look around the store. With a little help from them I was able to get what I needed, and a few tips, on getting in to turning. In fact, I cant keep turning blanks in my own shop now as my son has gotten into it too! My son and I visit frequently. Good job Metro Hardwoods!

This is an awesome supplier! I had been buying all my wood at Schutee for 20 years, not having known of this alternative. Great selection of species and very good quality. It was easy to find plenty of available stock for my last few projects. We wanted something unique for a new bathroom vanity i was building and found a great selection of Beech which I had never worked, and the cabinet and shelves are beautiful.

I am a professional trim carpenter and cabinet maker. I have always had good experiences at Metro. The owner and staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I can call ahead for bigger orders and they will tell me when they have everything ready and help me load out at the back door which is much easier than going out the front. Always willing to help with rough cutting plywood to make it easier for this older carpenter to handle. Best place in KC for this type of materials.

I have been here many times over the past 5 years since getting into woodworking. Its like going to a good bookstore, you could spend hours looking at all the different types of wood. The employees mostly leave you to your task but are happy to help if you have questions. I have had no issues with getting them to cut boards for me. Wood prices are reasonable and comparable to market prices elsewhere but you get to pick your own boards as I have not had good luck in buying boards online. If you are a woodworker this is the place to go in Kansas City.

This store doesnt get the recognition it deserves. The selection of specialty lumber is impressive. The staff provide lots of insight and the tool selection is great. If you make pens, they have a wide variety of kits and blanks. Would recommend them for any of these reasons.

I love the showroom. They have everything that I need. The people that work there are very knowledgeable and they were always there to help. the only thing I wish is they had a showroom up north. I know they have Liberty Hardwoods.

Was looking to purchase some walnut boards so I asked one of the guys how I could go about milling the boards as I am fairly new to woodworking. He responded very rudely while clapping his hands like a 5th grader does when hes mad. They sell the same honing block harbor freight sells for 3x the price.

Maybe this guy was having a bad day but my experience at the store was not good and I will just go by my wood somewhere else ......I ask to have the wood in a large piece of furniture in my car identified. He made a sarcastic remark to my wife about having to do this which I didnt hear. He later dropped a large piece of wood on my foot and I know accidents happen but he didnt even acknowledge that it happened or apologize.

I am so disappointed in how unprofessional one of the men working there was. He was unfriendly and didnt want to help. He seemed put out that I asked him to cut my boards that I was buying there. I wish I could remember his name so I could call and complain to his boss. He was clearly annoyed that I inturrupted hisReading sports online.

Showed up at 6:25 in need of a router bit. They close at 6:30 but they had already locked the doors and wouldn’t open them for me. Never going back to this store
