We ordered windows April of this year. Here it is November and we still aren’t able to use the sunroom they were supposed to have completed back in August. The first installers were broughtt in from Ohio. They messed our entire sunroom up and left a lot of things unfinished. After contacting the project manager multiple times they finally sent out a local set of installers. These gentlemen were very professional and nice. They didn’t smoke in my house like the previous one did, they didn’t cuss and weren’t listening to raging music while working below my office. The windows were wrongfully measured during the initial appt causing our second floor to drop an inch Bc the first set of installers took the support beams out to fit the larger windows. The second set of installers did what they could but ultimately had to stop Bc our windows were measured wrong. We have spoke to the finance company and they are not happy with universal windows but still require us to make payments on windows that don’t work, my upper floor isn’t safe to use( but I don’t have a choice since it is my office) and we are on our third manager that promises to fix things. We are going into the cold months and the windows leak, allows air into the room. We definitely would recommend this company. It’s crazy to think they were happy to take $10,000 but aren’t so happy to help us fix this mess their people caused!Pictures below are just a few things that are wrong!
We met with Brad yesterday and decided to go with Universal Windows Direct. Brad was extremely knowledgeable and helped us get the best deal for the windows we want. We were going to use another company but was able to get a better deal for compatible windows. The windows won’t be installed for awhile but I’m hoping that experience will be as good as our meeting with Brad. If you are in the market for windows I highly suggest you give them a call.
Took a year and many visits to get the order correct. We ordered 12 windows and when they came in half of them were the wrong size. So they had to reorder the correct size. One window had already been knocked out when the installers realized it. We had a tacky looking, drafty slatted wooden window for 6 months through the winter until they got the new window. Real good on the heating bill!!! The second time they were missing one of the the 6 remaining windows and had to reorder it. Each time we called to complain we had a hard time getting anyone to talk to us. They never would let us talk to the owner. We still have a couple of windows that they did not caulk correctly and leak air.
Tony was amazing! Very professional, knowledgeable, and an absolute pleasure to consult with. Answered every single question I possibly had before I could even ask. He was able to demonstrate everything he spoke about as far as how the windows would seal, the science behind technology of the glass used, the colors of the windows/trim, and much more. I am very excited to go with Universal Windows. The company is very lucky to have Tony
Installation crew was excellent. Arrived promptly and communicated thoroughly during the process. They worked efficiently, minimized noise as much as possible while working, explained new window features, and cleaned up before leaving. Highly recommend Universal Windows and Ryan and his install team.
From the in home consultation, to the install, we were very impressed with Universal Windows. Their windows are custom made to fit perfectly, so the wait time is a bit long, but that wasn’t a problem for us. The installers we had were Jerry and Michelle, a husband and wife team. They did an excellent job, from start to finish, and couldn’t tell they were here after they left. We replaced four windows, it made a big difference, and we could not be happier.
I am very satisfied with my windows. They look beautiful. Easy to clean also. Installers were professional and on time. Great cleanup job too.
The Technician they sent out to do the installation was awesome!! His name is Ryan!! Very nice, professional and courteous.. Also cleaned up very well after was done!! Would recommend him a 100 times over!!
We dealt with Brad he was very polite, informative, and answered all our questions. I would definitely recommend Universal Windows!
I had Universal install 9 windows and a sliding patio door. I was told would take 1.5 days to install and took 3 days starting on May 17th, 2021. The sliding door came with damaged paint and the screen for the door was bent so it would not slide. I was told they would touch up the paint when the new screen arrived. Yesterday, 10 weeks from start of installation, the service technician was to come do the repairs between 1-5 pm. Called at 4pm to say he was sick. He came this morning and told me they could not touch up the paint and they would have to replace that part. Now they are going to disassemble my brand new door, but not for another 4-6 weeks, that will be 4 months from the start of the project. I understand the material and labor situation everyone is experiencing, but this is ridiculous.John Schmidt
Jackson was so helpful and explained everything..Hes a great salesman you all are very lucky to have him hes very proffesioal and smart he told is everything we neede to know ..Hes outstanding..He went over everything with us he knew everything about the bay window..Thanks Jackson
Met with Jackson today to go over quotes to have 2 new basement windows installed, he went over ever single option with me and the benefits of each one as well as even took the time to explain the process of it all and how they design their windows to be the best they can be using their super spacer for a greatly increased life expectancy on the windows (they also have life time warranty.) Jackson was absolutely professional and courtesy as well during his time in my home and treated me with proper respect. Looking forward to my install for my new windows!
After waiting 4+ months for our windows/doors to be installed we were rescheduled the day before due to weather interfering with the previous day’s job. Instead of just pushing our install a day or two we were pushed out 2 weeks! We were told this was because our install required two crews, one for the windows one for the doors. Ok, fine. Installation day arrives, one crew of 2 guys show up to install the windows (at just before 10:00). They said the door crew was not coming but they could do it. Clearly we knew two guys would not complete this job in one day, and we were right. They tried, but they have to come back not one more time but two more! To make matters worse, I called the office at 9:52 am regarding the lack of the door crew and was told the “production manager” would call me back in 10-15 minutes. We never received a call back. The verdict of the product is still out but in the service industry, over promising and under delivering is the worst!
Universal Windows did a great job installing our windows and doors! They got the job done quickly and efficiently. Wo love our new windows and doors with a lifetime warranty.
After salesman made the sale, with promised specials, he would not return calls. After six months of delays, wrong items delivered, installers not bringing the correct materials or correct ladder, front window is still boarded up with cold weather arriving, screens are damaged, windows and doors are still missing. Worst experience! Worst company!
Installers were extremely friendly and the whole installation went so smoothly. I run a daycare out of my house was concerned how the activity would effect the kids naps but the installers were able to get the rooms done in time for naps and worked around my activities in the home with the kids since we were stuck inside due to rain. Both installers were easy to talk to and did a great job keeping the debris from the windows cleaned up as they moved on to the next window. They both had great personalities and made the job look easy. We will highly recommend them to our friends and family.Great service and excited to start enjoying our new windows!!
My experience at the start was very good.Bought over $12000 in Doors and Windows and 6 months later Im still waiting on the to be built and no clue when they will be installed. This is pretty ridiculous.. Ive called and checked and all I get is they are still being built... Pretty frustrating to say the least.
Our second window installation experience with Universal Windows Direct of Indianapolis (UWDI) was a positive experience. As before, they provided a quality product, customer focus on our specific needs, expert and timely installation, and follow-up. I would recommend UWDI highly to anyone with a window re-placement project.
I ordered from this company and they sent the wrong windows, lesser quality than what I purchased. The issue at hand still has not been resolved and its about 8 months now.Insanity, I ordered from this company again so the windows would match. I have waited about 6 months for the windows and they were made too small. I had to refuse the windows.Very frustrating and a lot of money!I do not recommend this company.
Installation for 10 windows replaced took about 4 hours by a professional, efficient & friendly crew. The windows are of the highest quality, come with the best warranty, and look excellent. Will definitely use their services again for future window needs.
Nice salesman. Very informative.
Tore out my Friends door and then tells her they cant install new door that there salesman said according to measurements would fit nicely. After tearing out the old door and windows they now say new door and windows cannot be installed. She has already paid in full they will not refund her money and they left her to cover the hole. This has been going on for 3 months. This is the most unprofessional non caring money robbing business I have ever seen. They really should be put out of business.
I was asked not once, but twice, for my husbands name when I called to schedule my appointment for a quote. (Two different people) The men I scheduled this with seemed genuinely shocked that I was handling this myself. To the point that they even asked, Oh, so are your children adults? So they can help you plan this? As if a female is incapable of spending her own money to buy windows. To add to this disrespect, after speaking with two different MEN I know that ordered the exact same windows with the exact same sale, I see that UWD was charging me literally quadruple the price as the men. Who live minutes away from me. Thats not an exaggeration. In fact, they more than quadrupled it. I have NEVER felt so disrespected by a company in my life. I was prepared to buy their services with cash on hand. Not a payment plan. No financing. Full cash, ready to spend it. Very disappointed with this company.
I purchased windows 7 months ago 3 weeks ago they came out and installed all but 2 of them but did not put the windows outside wrap on the outside so now my windows are halfway done and the wood around the windows are exposed to the elements Ive called hundreds of times no one will return my call this is ridiculous
A male employee called right away after putting in my contact info online. Was very pushy and offered $500 off (said it was his last coupon). He then asked if I could get a verbal confirmation on the phone from my boyfriend who I own my house with to set up estimate. Asked why he needs that since I am the one setting this up and he said it was for insurance purposes since I was not his wife. Told him I was no longer interested because that made me uncomfortable since I own the house as well and he apologized saying he thought my boyfriend was the one who owned the house even though I never said that. Offered me an Amazon gift card. Didn’t get it so called back to cancel estimate and other guy working was still pushy asking why I’m canceling. Told him I was uncomfortable with the first phone call and read bad reviews online. Went on this huge rant saying not all the reviews are people they worked with especially the ones on google since they are not vetted. He was still trying to sell them to me and took awhile for me to get him off the phone and cancel my estimate.
I did not like the sales portion, felt it was high pressure almost like when someone is trying to sell you a time share. However the installation and professionalism of the crew that installed our windows was outstanding. I cannot wait to see how much I save on my heating and cooling bill this year. To be able to open windows with no effort is awesome.I really do “ love my windows “
***I am going to start with the sales process:-June 13th, 2020; our order was placed, and we were super excited after Universal being the 5th company we heard a pitch from. We were excited and happy with all of it. We ordered a front door and 13 windows for our house in a very nice neighborhood.-We have a measurement person out on July 9th to review all the measurements. Turns out that our door and windows were ordered in the WRONG color!!! I was told that I was wrong, and I ordered tan windows when my house was grey. Un NO!!! They did a change request to modify the colors before it goes to production. The change request was then trumped by someone and tried to be set back to “clay” instead of “grey”. I said NO I am not accepting that at all. That was corrected again. (I have the paperwork to back all of this up). We thought all of this was fixed-We received an email saying that our order was in and we should see our windows and door around Aug 20th. That was WAY OFF and I am told it was because of COVID. OK; fine… We receive an email that our “Product was delivered”. That was only for the door and we had to wait for the windows. Then we get a call from the shop manager saying “Let’s install the door then we will come back out when the windows come in.” So, we scheduled that for September 25th. Again, Excited BUT NOPE!!! The Door came in with the wrong colors… So, I sent it back. Long story short… Take a discount off the door to keep the colors and paint it myself (OH this voids the warranty) or wait weeks for a new door. I took the discount and have yet to paint the door.-Got a call that the windows were in. So, we schedule the install for wrong door and windows. NOPE only 12 of the 13 windows are in. Sorry, not sure where the windows is. NO RESPONSE from anyone until I texted the local manager to ask, 2 weeks after they were here (Texted Today). Still no idea where my window is.***Install and Product Quality (The installers were super nice guys though!):-Door Trim is wrong color (Shocker by now). Please see the pick. Does not come close to matching what I have in the house. Gaps, quarter round not even installed, and the door threshold flexes by half an inch… I can stick my fingers under my door for crying out loud! There is nothing under it to support it!!!-I had nice trim around my windows. I have a pic of my garage window that was not replaced for a comparison (Last Pic I think). They use this cheap tin casing that covers it all up. It has gaps, calking to fill it in. I am SHOCKED by this. This is what Universal Windows gives their installers to work with???-Bought 3 slider windows… Every time I open them, I feel like they are going to jump out of the track they sit in.***Current Summary as of Oct.13, 2020; Missing a window, door is the wrong color, poor quality, trim for the door is the wrong color and shape and size. I feel the product quality is horrible and NOT worth what I paid for it. Even with a $1,500 discount I received for a wrong door that I must paint and void the “finish warranty”. Oh and even though the job isnt done, I have been charged for everything. PLEASE BE AWARE what you are getting into using Universal Windows!!!
Product seemed decent. However, way too much pressure to get the sale. It is a large investment - quit using spin sale tactics. It is unprofessional.
Very professional install team. Polite, informative, friendly. Good job!
I initially went to with this company bc they sold me on their so called responsiveness and guaranteed quality... dont waste your money. They caused damage to my window frame and the electrical to my door bell. Their customer service is a joke always trying to get out of fixing the issues they caused. Which is horrible and all they make are excuses. Go somewhere else!!!!
Excellent work from sale rep, to quote (we got 5 and they were in the middle range), to install & finished project! They are a no bs company that asked us our 1. Budget, 2. What we wanted most & 3. How they walked us through their products. There wasn’t any hidden costs or extras included. We loved the fact that we could put 6 windows in & get the next 6 when we can afford them. We locked in a price for 2 years so even if the product goes up, our windows won’t! My kids loved Al because he took a blow torch to their windows & showed them how efficient their product is. Having their sakes rep (Al) in felt like welcoming a friend in vs a business person who had only 1 agenda. Great product and absolutely great company! We can’t wait to have the next 6 done because they’ve already already made a world of difference!
The windows are quality, easy to clean. The installers, Donal and his crew, were friendly, efficient, and neat.
Was on time, cleaned up after finished. Highly recommend..
Extremely disappointed. HORRIBLE attention to detail.Delivered a reverse-opening bathroom window vs a picture window we ordered. The factory “reversed” the measurements for our patio door; no too tall and not wide enuf. It was therefore installed skewed and shimmed all over; doors don’t close without effort.Window flashing was trimmed by hand. Leftover sharp/visible edges remaining. TUBES of caulk used to fill gaps vs trimming to actual dimensions. We trust in the technology. Our salesmen Al was great and our lead installer Dave was beyond awesome but they were given SUBSTANDARD products to install.I was going to wait to see how they responded (which is ongoing but so far lackluster because I REACHED OUT … no manager or supervisor contact yet) but since they CONTINUE to ask for a feedback … here ya go!
Had windows measure in April was told no more than 10 to 12 weeks now saying September. Wife was told they would bein by her BIRTHDAY Aug.10
The installation was good but theres still some work to be done. Ill rate again when completed.
Been waiting months to get a door installed then when I called they said it was my fault because of who I elected in my area want a lot more than most for a permit. Nice way to blame it on the customer. Had windows put in no problem but this door is ridiculous and when you speak to management they act like your bothering them and they are better than you. Glad I am paying on a door that has yet to be installed.
Have not had the work done yet. Al was very informative and did not present a high pressure sales pitch. Answered all question to our satisfaction and offered all options available to us with just the facts and not personal financial benefits to him. Would be nice if all sales presentations was this professional. I would have not had to throw as many sales associates out of my home.
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO MY WORST ENEMY! Over charged, taken advantage of, late with installation, one window arrived cracked, no idea when will be replaced, all windows have scratches, installers caused damage to drywall when ripping out old window and removing blinds ripped out screws causing cracking on wall, broke decorative garden stones, damage to bush under window, smoking while installing and smoke came into the house, putting in windows and realized they were in the wrong places and had to be switched.
Al T. was a great guy. He spent roughly 3 hours with us to explain the process, gave a demonstration and gave us the best price. Their windows are quality. Get a free quote and let Al come show you how great they are!
The windows themselves are a great product....however, it took 5 months to get 6 measly windows installed. I called frequently for updates and could never get ahold of anyone, and no one ever took the initiative to reach out first. They were supposed to call at every stage - the placement of our order, the completion of our order, the delivery of our product, the scheduling of the installation...not a word from them over the course of those 5 months. Their phone menu seems to be an intentional nightmare to navigate. I ended up having to harass my poor sales guy to get any kind of answer, even though thats not exactly his job. I understand that there may be a bit of a back order during these times, but ANY communication would have been wildy appreciated. When I finally did get the installation scheduled, they showed up a full hour outside of the specified window of time, and called me from a blocked number so that I could not return the call. Go with someone else for your window install.
I thought it was going to be a great experience with the installation of my new windows, but it turns into a nightmare. Sales person explained the process of they work, they had 3 windows measured wrong, damaged screen,2 windows that dont open right, they cut the frame of 2 windows to get them fitted.I called several times and the production manager returned my call just ones.I wish I wouldnt have contracted them.
If you are in a hurry don’t use this company. It took 3 months to get the windows and another 3 months to get them installed. I wasn’t even notified that they were coming until 40 minutes beforehand thankfully I was home. But the installation men were great.
Wrong sized windows arrived 5 months after order and still waiting for right size to arriv 6 months later . 11 months and still no completerd installation. Will never, ever do business with this company again.
Great group of guys! They cleaned up any mess and dust from the installation of 13 windows, and did an amazing job of not damaging our walls. Highly recommend!
Did an online request for a quote and within a few minutes they were calling me to schedule an appointment. At my house the next evening for a quick measurement and quote. Will have an official measuring in a few weeks. Waiting time for installation is 12 weeks. We havent had any actual work done yet but so far so good.
While the gentlemen that did the install were incredibly nice and did good work—a quick, under 2 hour job, ended up getting strung out over an 8 hour time span. The arrival time was 8am-10am, they showed up at 10:02am, only to tell me that it was about to rain and they would be back around 1pm. They called at 1pm to say they would be on their way. They showed back up at 2pm and were done before 4pm. Probably would have been done in about an hour had they not taken so many breaks. Very frustrating to take a whole day off of work when they could have completed the job from 8-10 had they shown up early. I never signed anything at the completion of the job, was not told to pay my remaining balance, I got a discount to put a sign in my yard and was not given that sign. The whole experience of purchasing this window was not great from start to finish. I had to keep calling to see what the status of my order was, never received reminder emails or texts regarding my install. The nice young kid that did the initial consultation barely knew what he was selling but I had a broken window and had to make a quick decision. My window broke at the end of April and I just now got the new window installed, it’s August 9th. I understand Covid may have played a roll in that long waiting period so Ive tried to give them some sympathy for that. I also asked for some advice on how to patch my broken window, I was told to go purchase some plexiglass. I ended up using Flex Tape on the inside and out because I didn’t have the kind of money to spend on plexiglass. Everyone was very kind that I interacted with but it’s not a very well run establishment!
I searched and did my homework before signing up with Universal Windows Direct. I placed an order for some windows and a storm door. The communication between Universal Windows and myself was wonderful. Everyone is so friendly, from the receptionist, the person who measured the windows, to the final step of install. All professional. Like your corney commercial states, I truly LOVE my windows and door. I will use them again. Thank you.
Happy with the whole process- custom door took a little while to manufacture and install went great
Paid $18,000 for new windows in our house. Had something installed completely upside down. Have been trying to get the company to come out and fix it for over two months. Took 6 days a multiple voicemails for me to finally be able to get ahold them. At this point they couldn’t get us on the schedule until more than a month out. We went with it because we had no choice. When they showed up, they didn’t have enough people to get the issue fixed because they assumed it was a completely different problem. They were there for 15 min max. Was told I would get a call from customer service that day or next. No call for 3 days.I called on the third day. Was told again they would call back because they had issues with our job ticket and couldn’t at that time schedule me again. Still not on the schedule for them to come out again. Called 3 times today, no answer.Literally have no idea what to do...
The workers took all efforts to be considerate and professional in the installation of our front door, screen door and the windows in our house. They did a fabulous job!!!! We love the windows. Our heating and cooling bill have been cut more than 1/2 of what they were. I cannot say enough good about the work and the product. I will recommend them to anyone and everyone.
UWD replaced almost all our windows in our home! Very happy with the results!
I simply love my new windows, we notice a world of difference on our old 1939 home. Our original windows were single pane and cracked in places and the new windows fit so well! The only suggestion I have is that, with the sales team, a designer comes with to mention things that we as homeowners may not have spotted or thought of. For example, in my kitchen we had encasement windows and replacing them with double hung ruined my view. In this situation I would have paid more for a better view. Although it wasn’t thought about because I am not a designer nor am I well versed on windows. Other than 3 out of my 21 windows I am extremely pleased. Humberto and his team knocked this job out of the park. They were so professional and friendly and were not phased by the 60 lb dog that kept barking at them! I have recommended UWD to my whole group and am very happy with our purchase! Thanks team!
Salesman was very polite and easy to talk to. Installation was done very fast and windows and slide door look great. Thank you,
I will not use their services again. Sales tactics were very high pressured.I get it, your sales people are independent, and work on a commission, but youre not selling me a car. Secondly, the windows took a while for them to arrive, and I had to keep after the company to get a timeline. When they did arrive, and a date was set up for an install, the installers did not show up. They called me twenty minutes before the two hour time frame window had expired to tell me some BS that the installer was stuck in traffic in Bloomington, Indiana. Please keep in mind that I had to adjust my schedule and wait around all day, for nothing. Very unprofessional Universal Windows Direct of Indianapolis. They then told me that the installer would come out Saturday, and that he would give me a call. I asked for a timeline and the rep could not give me one, instead he just said sometime in the afternoon.I type this on the day of my so called install date, (5/8/21) and no call from anyone, and their business is closed. I will be calling the company Monday for a full refund. I will gladly take my business elsewhere.Folks, if you are looking for new windows, please go elsewhere, this is not a professional company, or at least the Indianapolis branch. I will be updating this post as this progresses.I wanted to update this review as no one called me today, nor did a installer come out to my residence. It is 6:05pm on 5/8/21.Do not purchase anything from this company. I cant wait to hear what they have to say on Monday 10th.
When they came to install my windows after measuring 2x’s the installer informed me the windows didn’t fit. Called and spoke with a rude manager named Jake long story short they broke my ADT sign 3ft from windows, turned my grass brown put tarp on my flowers and kept them there even after installing the windows and they died. All of my windows had to be washed black hand stains, some of the stains I couldn’t wash off!!! I would never recommend them to my worst enemy. Customer service is so rude as well. Never been so disrespected!!!
Jeff arrived today on time and prepared for all the questions I had. He was very informative and professional. Long story short I BROUGHT WINDOWS AND DOORS 😊
Very good work with no issues
Cody Ray was awesome! He was very professional and courteous. Went the extra mile to help and am very pleased.
Installers did a very good job. They were all polite and were able to replace all my windows within a few hours.
I have not received my windows yet, but this review is based on the Sales Experience I had. Al T. was extremely nice and personable - didnt pressure me at all. I felt that he was there really just to teach me about the differences in windows. It was apparent to me that he truly did believe in his company and their product. It was an easy decision for me based on the information presented - I decided to replace all my windows. Im looking forward to being able to sit in my living room and not feel the breeze through the windows. - Thanks Al!
Not a consumer friendly company. The bay window has damage to the sill. Before we signed, we asked the salesman Matt Taylor specifically about this window, he said the crew would fix if it was minor or would stop and provide an estimate to fix at that time. The install crew did neither. They didnt even attempt to cap them like the other windows. In trying to remedy this, Matt Taylor has never returned any of my emails or calls. I contacted the local office and they said its not part of their process. Emails to the owners have went unreturned. Finally after about a month and filing a complaint with the BBB, Moe calls and tells me they will fix this for over a $1,000. This repair would have been less than half if they would have fixed it during the installation. Shame on Matt Taylor for lying and shame on Universal for taking advantage of senior citizens. Now we have to get an attorney to make this right.
Jeff was out today. And he was a very nice guy. Very knowledgeable. Excited about my new doors that are coming. God Bless!3-17-21Got new doors today. The guys were great. It didnt take long to get the doors in and they were professional.
I had 9 windows installed yesterday. The install crew was fast and efficient. They were completed in 3 hours including wrapping the exterior trim. The windows look great. It has cut down on the street noise tremendously. The price was on par with other window manufacturers. I would recommend this company to anyone. They kept us informed on production times, install dates, we couldn’t be more pleased.
I recently purchased a fixer upper that had a broken window, so I ordered 7 replacement windows through Universal back in August. My windows were in less than 2 months later, and the installation was scheduled in September. The installers walked into the home to only realize that the windows were incorrectly manufactured. They proceeded to leave and tell me to call Universal.I called and was unable to reach anyone for several days. Finally, a manager called me to simply say, Well take care of this. He didnt provide any details about the problems with the windows, how it was going to be fixed, or anything else that would have been good to know. I tried to reach him again and was unable over the next week.Customer service finally sent me an email letting me know that all of my windows would have to be manufactured again. Mistakes are made, its understandable. They assured me that the windows would be finished in early October.By the first week of October, I hadnt heard anything about my windows, so I sent an email to customer service. They simply said, Sorry, your windows should be finished by the last week of October. Once again, no explanation of any form was given. I was told that someone from management would contact me to explain the situation, but that never happened. The last week of October goes by, and I still havent heard about my windows. I send another email and get this response, Sorry, your windows should be finished by November 25th. Still no explanation. Still nothing to compensate for my lost time. Still a broken window as winter approaches.Well see if I get my windows before the end of this year. Unlikely. Learn from me and take your business elsewhere.
Excellent job, great quality, very professional.
The two gentlemen were very personable and answered our questions thoroughly.
Jeff was wonderful in his presentation of his windows. He was so personable and very informative. I believe that we have been given a very good price for some quality windows. I will be letting my coworkers know to give Jeff a call for all their window needs.
I do NOT recommend universal windows. My wife and I had an appointment for an estimate and on the day of the appointment they called my wife to confirm the appointment. My wife stated that she could not be there, but I would be. Their representative asked why so wouldn’t be there and where was she going to be. I called them back immediately to cancel the appointment because it was none of their business where she was going to be. The phone rep then promised me a $50 gift card to keep the appointment so I did. The sales rep that came to the house stated that he didn’t have gift cards and it would be sent from their office. I liked the sales rep and decided to wait and see if I would ever get the gift card before going with universal windows. As I expected, the card never showed up. I suspect that if they aren’t reliable enough for something as simple as mailing a gift card then they would certainly not be dependable when a real issue happens. Very pushy phone rep.
Logan Mournigham came out today to give us an estimate on our HUGE windows. He was very professional and on time, went through every detail with all the options that fit our budget! We got a fantastic deal on 6 windows and got great savings! We will definitely recommend him to our friends and family. Cant wait to get our new windows!Large custom farmhouse windows at an affordable cost!
They did a good job.
I was very impressed with the whole process from a very knowledgeable & helpful sales rep, to the crew that installed the windows. They were very hard working polite & professional . The windows are exactly what I was told they would be, high quality and beautiful. I would recommend Universal to anyone looking for windows.
They were on time and quick. The install went as smooth as possible and we love the new windows!
I recently had all 15 windows replaced in my two bedroom bungalow! I have the triple pain upgraded window package. Brody was an awesome salesman as well as everyone in the office coordinating the measurements and the install date. Ryan and his helper were here on time and got to work immediately. They did the front of the house the first day and the rear of the house the second day and finished everything up on the third day. I noticed on the very first night my house was a lot colder then it previously had been. So I started investigating putting my hand against all of the new windows. I noticed that there was this thin line of fuzz on either side of the window sash and that small strip of fuzz is actually whats keeping the air out of my home. I even took a business card and could slide it from the inside of the home to the outside of my home so when Ryan showed up the next day I brought this to his attention. His response was I can tighten some set screws and it should reduce the draft but it will make the window harder to move up and down. I told him to go ahead and tighten whatever he needed to tighten to make my house not as drafty. It did work somewhat but not as much as I was hoping. Another thing it was about 5 degrees when they did the install and Ive noticed some of the caulk around the windows on the exterior and interior side isnt sticking as well as it should be. its been well over three weeks since my install and I havent heard from Universal Windows Direct but one time and that was the first day of the install. they called after the installers had been here for about 2 hours asking how the job was going? I responded with its only been 2 hours I guess so far its going good but Ill wait till theyre complete to give you my final say so. I still have not received my invoice showing Im paid in full as Ryan said he is unable to give a receipt when he accepts the fina payment at the end of the job. Another thing that kind of bothered me was not one time did they bring a broom into my house. They did pick up the majority of all the big pieces of debris but all of the Dust and small debris was left for me to clean up inside and outside. And the last thing was on the third day Ryan drove a different truck than he had previously drove the other two days. It left an oil puddle at the end of my driveway about 10 feet in circumference. I even sent him a picture via text message about 10 minutes after he left asking if he noticed the enormous oil puddle and I did not receive a response from him. when it warms up Ill be making an appointment for someone to come recaulk all of the spots that need recaulking and hopefully by then I will have received my invoice.I feel I should say the installers were extremely polite and extremely nice the entire time they were at my home. Anytime I had a question or pointed something out Ryan addressed it immediately.I think Im just extremely disappointed I was looking forward to that 30% reduction in my utility costs and for my home to be colder and have more of a draft with the new windows just really disappointed me.I guess after spending almost $10,000 on Windows I didnt expect it to still be this drafty.2/19/19 update- its been exactly one month since my install so I called this afternoon to check the status of my invoice and warranty information and asked why I had not received it yet. She informed me that I had not requested it yet thats why it had not been sent out. So I have to call and request my final invoice stating Im paid in full? and to receive all of my warranty information? Im more shocked at the fact she didnt even ask if I was happy with my windows. She didnt ask if I have any issues or was there any problems during the install.
Team was on time, very professional, completed the whole project in 3 hours. They cleaned up the inside and outside of any mess they made. And they were very accommodating to our 2 barking dogs!! There was an issue with one of our windows and they already placed an order to get it fixed. Will work with them again if I never need new windows again!!
Jeff came out, was very courteous, and set us up for some new windows. Lifetime warranty!
They made 3 unsolicited phone calls to me this week. Two at work, and 1 during my dinner. Maybe they dont realize how annoying it is and probably illegal since i am on the do not call list.
Jeff Houser gave us a very informative no pressure no nonsense sales presentation. We are confident in our decision and very excited to get our new windows.
We originally met with our sales rep, Scott, on November 27, 2020. Scott helped us and answered all of our questions and really convinced us that this company was reputable and professional. Scott told us that we should expect to wait 12 weeks or less for our new windows to arrive. After the original meeting with Scott, the orders for our windows was placed on December 4, 2020. After the windows were ordered we did not hear anything from Universal Windows Direct for months. We waited for email communication and we received nothing. I called at the beginning of February and was told my windows were not expected to be delivered until April now. I was then transferred to someone else and they couldn’t find my order and had to call the shipping warehouse to get a delivery date. They gave me the date of March 5, 2021 (and was already a week later than promised) and at that time, they also told me they would schedule my installation the week after (March 8-12). My product was delivered on 3/5, but installation wasn’t scheduled until March 18. March 18th at 7:56am, 4 minutes before the installation crew could arrive, I received the phone call that they had to reschedule my installation. I was lied to several times and was not provided clarity or communication on all occasions. Terrible customer service, unresponsive, and unreliable. For those reasons, we will never recommend this company to anyone.
Working with Universal Windows Direct was fantastic and absolutely seamless. There was proactive communication at each step of the process, both to explain the current step and to remind me of what was happening next. Everyone I worked with- from the sales manager to the installation crew- were professional, knowledgeable and genuinely cared about their role in the projects success. They followed up afterwards to make sure that everything went well.Windows are a big investment, but I felt so confident in selecting this company and their product after the in-home demonstration that I cancelled the other window company sales calls that I had lined up. My windows look amazing, and I am very happy that the process was so easy and to have worked with a company that cares so much about their customers.
Fast and professional! Love the windows!!
I spoke with the company yesterday (Saturday) to schedule an estimate. I had asked what their availability was for Thursday, instead the guy pushed for same day. We had plans, but we decided to push things back to allow for the appointment. I was told to hold for the confirmation team. I waited a long time, then the line disconnected. No one attempted to contact me back although they had collected my phone number, my husbands number, and my email.15 minutes before our appointment time, I noticed that I had a missed call from them. I assume this is the salesman saying hes on his way. There was no message left and no further attempt to reach me.Twenty minutes after my appointment time, I called Universal to ask why no one had showed up. I was given no apology for the inconvenience, and asked to hold while they looked into it.Again, I held the line and AGAIN I Was hung up on!They didnt attempt to call me back not contact me in any other way.I do not recommend ANYONE to entertain this company with their business. If they cant handle an ounce of professionalism via the initial contact, I can only imagine the what their standards are for the install and final product. Ill take my business elsewhere.
I have not yet received my windows but Al T. Provided a very informative and detailed presentation. Looking forward to my new windows
Purchasing process was too good since I knew what I wanted. Had to sit through 1 hr of presentation to get to bottom line. Windows are now delayed 2 more months. Finally received notice that reason to Covid glass shipments are delayed.
When a Salesman came out I was told it would should take around one day to guys should come out it took six days and one guy come out they kept sending him other places finished jobs for artists to get finished I feel like I should have got finished first I was not very happy about that we had to move all the old windows and trash from our porch in our driveway because they did not come back for three days we cannot leave it there Im still finding nails today even he did a good job on the windows its not his fault they kept sending him other places I contacted the office several times complaining that they need to get out here and finish this
Great in person presentation. Decided while the product was of good quality, it wasn’t worth 100% more. The trouble started the next day. Scrolling through my phone history. 11 calls of 1 ring and then hang up, spread through multiple days.1 call that actually rang through and I again explained that it was not what I wanted to spend, and wasn’t interested, asking politely for them to quit calling.7 more calls since that day (roughly every other day sometimes multiple times a day). Answered 3 of the 7 asking again for them to stop calling.
My experience was bad from the start..the guy was late getting there. I paid in full up front and after 2 weeks I had to call them for date to get windows measured..i got the old. I was just getting ready to call you. Then he was here less than five minutes..i was worried then. I got a total tear out contact because there would be repairs. Finally the guy called and said windows were in..set up a time to come out. The guy came out alone. His helper did come to work. Second story windows. I offered to help him carry them up the stairs. He said no thats ok. He checked the areas and he didnt have the stuff to do it. He called his boss and a crew was to come out next day. Mean while Im missing work. Four times that day his boss called back changing the days then said the last time my house wasnt stable enough. The the guy left the work order and the windows were wrong.. Not what I wanted ..not going to be installed the way I wanted and at one time they wanted to charge me another $750 per window to install them. I told them to just give me my money back that wasnt going to happen. Wrong size windows ..no brace between the windows..they wanted to weld them together would not be strong and that would make it a 81 inch window not what I ordered. They tried to make me feel stupid because Im a single female over 60.
I purchased a new steel door for my side entry. When I called to schedule my install I was able to book an appointment for just two days out. They provided a window of arrival between 8-10 am. The crew arrived promptly at 8 and got straight to work. Ellis Turner was the gentleman that I spoke with directly. He was professional and didnt linger in my house longer than he needed. They worked on the door for about 2 hours and let me know when they were done. I was able to inspect the install and provide any feedback. I had none as they did a great job. I heard saws and other tools going but when I stepped outside everything was cleaned up, including the old door and frame. I am very impressed with my new door and the quality of the install. I would recommend them and especially this team!
We love the new windows!
Im very happy with my windows, and the job the men that put them in. Well done . Keep up the good work.
The sales rep, Melissa misrepresented the facts. I have placed over a dozen calls to customer service from May through December. I called in May for two replacement screens. They ordered the wrong size screens and brought them in July. They ordered the wrong size screens again in July and finally brought them on December 30th. I still have not received the correct size replacement screens. Their product guarantee is nothing more than toilet paper. Their customer service is the worst of any company in existence.
The installation team was on time and very professional. They were quick and careful. The windows look incredible and make a huge difference on our energy efficiency. Sales team was polite and informative. They were the best price out of all the companies that we got quotes from.
UPDATE: If you have been wondering about the long term energy savings of these windows, listen up! We finally have all of our windows and it has been a huge disappointment. Every single window that we have on the main floor leaks. Our house has never been so drafty and our energy costs have gone up significantly. We are on budget billing with electric and gas, and they have had to adjust them twice now, and not down, like we were promised, but UP! As you can see in the picture, I have had to tape all of our windows to help minimize the cold air from coming into the house. And there is such a cold draft that there are ice crystals on the INSIDE of our windows. It is insane. Super Spacer Technology, HA! I wish I had my old 1960s single pane aluminum windows back, they never had ice on the inside. I am so very disappointed and I feel like Ive made the biggest financial mistake of my life. Not only for the cost of the windows themselves, but now for the rest of the time we live in our home, well have to pay $50 more per month in bills. One positive, I give credit when due, basement windows were finally installed in November. Tracy did them himself and did a fantastic job! They look nice and no air leaks. If only the upstairs were as nice.I dont think I have ever written a review myself, but since I rely so heavily on reading reviews before making my own purchases, I felt obligated to let people know our experience with Universal Windows. So far I can only give Universal of Indy 1 star. I am hopeful that when I actually get my windows and if the warranty ever needs to be used, it will pull through, but this process has not been a good one for us. We ordered our windows in August of 2017. Thats right, almost 14 months ago, and still the job is not complete. I wanted them last year because the sales guy talked about how much energy savings we would see and I wanted to get our original single pane windows replaced before winter. I also agree with another poster that the sales tactic of offering such a huge price differential if you sign that day is pretty anxiety provoking - as I too was just shopping around at that time - but I didnt want to miss the good deal they were offering us, and they actually had good reviews so we said ok!So back to my original thought, yesterday was supposed to be the third scheduled install date and once again, no one showed. Apparently he had car trouble, which we understand, but this is just getting ridiculous. My husband said, call AAA, send another crew, get someone out here because Im home and its been 3 months since the last time. This is the third time my husband has taken off work to be home, which wasted money and precious time off, that could be used for holidays or vacation days or when the kids are sick, etc. And sadly, this was only the installation part of the problems that we have faced...We do have most of our upstairs (main level) windows installed; although some of them are terribly scratched and nicked, but we have worked out to just keep those. however, when they were put in, almost every single frame is now a quarter inch or more pushed out of the wall. There were also issues outside and the screens not staying in their tracks correctly, so EVERY SINGLE WINDOW has to be taken out and re-installed correctly. This has actually led to a huge increase in our energy bills (not the 30% savings I was quoted by the salesman.) Which on another side note, come to find out was an inaccurate statement to begin with. This whole process has been a heartbreak and a headache. Their slogan says youll be saying I love my new windows but so far I cannot even come close. To their credit, we are currently working with Todd and Tracy to hopefully get this job done and all issues resolved and accounted for, and I will update this post appropriately if/when we come to a resolution. If you are considering using this company, stay tuned and stay informed, ask lots of questions and get things in writing. Hopefully you can learn from our mistakes.
Jeff came out to our home and was AWESOME! He educated us on how well they make their windows and how the company builds them to last. I was really surprised how great the warranty is and how they will have only company trained personal take care of all problems with their product. I am a veteran and I will be recommending them to everyone I know. I will recommend him to everyone for sure!!!Thanks so much for taking care of my family!
The jury is still out on this company. We got our windows installed yesterday and wood is still showing. Not completely covered as we had expected. The main reason we chose to purchase new windows was so we would not need to have someone paint. My husband is blind and due to the caulking being wet he could not examine their work. We left a message this evening for them to call us. We are trusting they will do so tomorrow. A couple of windows are fine but wood is showing on others. Nice windows and we hope and trust they will complete their work. When they correct the problem I will definitely update my review.
Ellis and his crew showed up on time and did amazing work. Their team in general gave some of the best prices with great information throughout. Would highly recommend anyone needing windows in the Lafayette area to give them a call!
