When your Volvo is at 150K miles its just getting started .. and with the good natured, knowledgeable, easy to work with people at Blacksmith, I feel confident my 2008 XC70 will continue to hold a trusted venerable place in our driveway. You can count on the Blacksmith team to get to the bottom of nuanced issues that sometimes pop up on older vehicles, and then solve them. And do so in a reasonable, customer focused way. If you have a Volvo or Saab, they are the best people around to call.
*Mandatory use of Blacksmith European Motorworks parts.*-*Review is in regards to service policy only. No mechanical work was performed*-This location does not accept repairs done that use parts outside of their suppliers.I brought in my LR4 for diagnostic ($125)Diagnosis- AlternatorWas provided with a itemized list of the repair- $1,400Part- $920Labor-$$460I mentioned that I had found a alternative part for a significantly cheaper price, and that I would prefer to supply the part and just commission Blacksmith for the laborI was eventually told that this is not possible because there is not enough profit in that action. That the mandatory use of Blacksmith supplied parts is part of their business model.*Disclaimer*- this policy is perfectly fine by me. Every company has the right to set its own policies that they believe best.However- this policy should be SPECIFICALLY mentioned within the contract (And this is where Blacksmith Motorworks strongly(?) disagrees)The only disclaimer conveyed was in regards to the $125 diagnostic fee. (Non-refundable. Applied towards cost of repair up to 30 days after diagnosis)If you do decide on a repair here please note that the location does not price match, or accept off-vendor supplied parts. To me personally-this translated to almost $600 in added fees.No small amount.I would recommend you make inquiries with the business first regarding costs of the parts for the repair before bringing the vehicle in.
First time visit and Ill have to say I was impressed! Clean & cool environment. Friendly staff and got a good feeling that I was going to be treated with respect and most importantly honestly. Mechanic was super friendly and went out of his way to greet me and to wish me a nice day. As far as the work performed, completed in a timely manner with no complaints! I will definitely be coming back to this location. Dealership was twice as expensive, this place is a great alternative! Highly recommended!
I have only been here once so far, but Ken has been great to work with. He has given honest feedback and recommendations and his prices are fair. He definitely knows details about Volvos that other mechanics simply arent aware of.
I had a recall for my saab 92x and they took care of everything. I had a chance to speak with the owner is knowledgeable and friendly. He also updated me on 2 other issues that was under recall that I never received a notice for.
I prefer this shop to any of the Volo dealers. Honest, and straight forward.
Blacksmith European Motorworks is the poster image of authentic customer service. At the front counter, Ken gives attention to ensuring that the customer understands the work order and that the pricing is fair. Behind the scenes, Blacksmiths highly-qualified mechanics are treating every car like it is their own.If your need is major work or simply a tune-up, stop in, you wont be disappointed. And, no, I am not family or friend; I am, truly, a super satisfied customer. Thanks Blacksmith European Motorworks!
I cant say enough good things about our experience at this shop. My teenage daughters just bought a used Volvo a few months ago, and when it needed repairs we brought it in to Ken. As usual we were extremely satisfied from start to finish. We have known him for many years and he is always very professional and trustworthy. His shop is clean and the waiting room is very pleasant. The repairs were done quickly and the girls were happy to be back in their car! I highly recommend Blacksmith European Motorworks
Swedish Mechanic provides honest, reasonable priced service, with great results. My Volvo S40 just had its tune up the the guys there are very honest with you. If it is just an oil change that is what you get. If they detect upcoming problems, you are informed and are given the information needed to either have work done then or wait a couple months. This honesty is something I treasure, plus they outstanding job they have done with my car.
Found out my car had was leaking differential fluid on a Sunday night, took it to the blacksmith on Monday morning. He inspected it and called me with a pressure free detailed oriented estimate, also he had sent a hard copy in a email (HUGE Plus +). After approving the estimate he had the car fixed before I had time to pick it up. Great service, quality work! Thanks again!
They repaired my car as scheduled, helped me understand the safety features, and followed up as promised. I dont feel crazy for owning a Saab in this shop, or at least I feel comfortable with it. It is a very comfortable waiting area, and there are a variety of good restaurants nearby, so I would go back for regular service from people who I believe would notice anything else that might become a problem.
The folks at the Swedish Mechanic really take care of their customers and their cars. I have a 1986 Volvo that has needed many repairs in the last year and they helped me every step of the way. Stephan and his team rebuilt my whole exhaust system so that I could pass smog for a fraction of what I thought it was going to cost. They really look out for the customer and never give up on the cars that they love. This will always be my first choice for any service big or small.
I always have a good experience at the Swedish Mechanic. Stefan has much better pricing than the dealership and he completes the work quickly. He never tries to sell me on services I dont need and he advises me on what needs to be done quickly and what can wait for budgeting purposes.
This is the place you hope to find. Honest, caring, and service oriented. I wont go anywhere else. Go see Ken, you wont be disappointed.
Taylor was a great help checking me out and getting my groceries to the car.
Personal service with a smile. Stefan was straight up front about what I needed and didnt need and pricing was fair (better than the dealer). Id recommend them to any Volvo owner.
I came from Seattle, and my 9.5 Saab started oil leak. I took my car to Blacksmith European auto shop and received warm welcome. Immediately my car checked and diagnosed and source of problem found.I recommend this shop to all Saab owners.Ali123 ChantillyIrvine 92620
Very knowledgeable on Saabs. I recommend them.Charlie Hawkins
Very satisfactory service. Came in to have some regular preventative maintenance done on my Saab 9-3. Stefan seems very knowledgeable. Had new sparkplugs done along with a tranny flush and various odds and ends. Very happy with my car
Great service, fair prices and very knowledgeable. Been taking my Saab there for years and very happy w/ Stefan and his team.
Took my Volvo S60 to the Swedish Mechanic recently. The problem was diagnosed and they gave me a list of items they recommended that I have taken care of with prices. I told them which items I wanted them to fix and which ones I would take care of my self. They never made me feel pressured and were ok when I told them I could fix some items myself. All repairs were completed on time and on budget. They provided good communication. I will take my Volvo there from now on.
Overpriced and not as informative as other locations! There costumer service skills are lacking as well, i wasnt greeted upon arrival and front desk person seem to be blunt and rude! Goodluck
My boyfriend takes his volvo here for all needed services. Its really old but they never give up on it.
My 2000 Volvo S40 needed several repairs I had been putting off to restore it to 100% mechanical condition and the Swedish Mechanic completed all work as expected. Runs great!
This is the best volvo place! I have a 2008 Volvo Xc70 and visited other mechanics before that I never trusted but feel good about this place. They got me in and accomodated my need to drop off and wait there for the service despite me forgetting to tell them ahead of time! They checked out the front axles and let me know that they were still safe to ride and didnt need replacing yet. They could easily have just said to replace everything and I wouldnt have known better, so the fact that they were thorough with their investigation and yet honest with the situation gives me great faith in their recommendations. True enough, the car is running great and I know what to look for in the future, at which point, Ill be back here for service for sure!
Expert service for Saabs!
