Chuck saved my life when I bent my glasses due to a tennis accident. I came in at 8:30 PM way over when he was closed, and he graciously fixed my glasses for free.He was very friendly and held a good conversation!

I called all the local optical stores in Ithaca AND Syracuse. Classic Optical was the only one who was able to order and produce lenses for me in 24hrs.Lenscrafter and Costco both said it would take over 2 weeks!I plan on mailing him my spare glasses when I get home after this vacay and have him put in my updated prescription lenses. Yes..he is that good and reliable.Also - Ithaca is a great town!

The best service I have ever got. I have been wearing glasses since high school. I have mainly used large national chains and in a few cases, small shops too in the last 3 decades. This is the best. Chuck suggests a solution to my aging eyes thats better than the typical approaches. Cheaper too. While at it, he adjusted my other pair of lens too. Double thumbs up!

All of the reviews are really positive so this is repetitive but the service here is spectacular. I came in to replace the little screw on my eyeglasses and Chuck replaced it in 30 seconds free of charge. Probably the best service Ive ever gotten at an optical store. Super convenient location for Cornell students -- right next to the parking garage on Dryden in Collegetown.

Visited today due to me losing my purse with my glasses in them and needing to travel back South the next day. Chuck was so friendly over the phone and friendly in person. Helpful with helping me choose something new in my price range, even looking at a photo of my glasses and helping to identify something similar to fit my face and look. If you ever have any issues with glasses or vision, this is the one place that you need to go to. Chuck is the most knowledgable and kind man I have ever encountered in this industry. He has 30 years of experience and hand-makes glasses as well. I am a graduate student at Cornell and got a new pair of glasses from another retailer in my home state immediately before returning to Ithaca. Upon returning to Ithaca I realized that these glasses were not right despite the warning from my home retailer that I simply needed to adjust to the new glasses. With finals approaching and not being an Ithaca native, I had absolutely no idea who would help me with my glasses and on such short notice. I called Classic Optical and Chuck, out of pure kindness and concern for the fact that I couldnt see properly, told me that if I brought in my new glasses he would adjust them and try to figure out what was wrong with them free of charge. Not only did he walk through the differences between my old glasses and my new ones/all of the possible causes for my discomfort, because of his experience in making glasses, he was able to figure out that one of my lenses had a manufacturer defect (hidden to the naked eye) which caused the lens to warp on the side and completely distort my vision. This was the kind of defect that many retailers might not even know to check for because of how minuscule the defect is for anyone but the wearer of the glasses. Chuck even offered to call my home retailer and explain the defect to them so that they wouldnt hassle me when I tried to get them fixed/order a replacement pair and wrote down recommendations for lens materials and options for someone with my vision problems. He is a truly wonderful person and extremely skilled in his craft. I have nothing but praise for him and everyone who works at Classic Optical.

Great Customer Service.Was looking for replacement frames after my wife fell and broke her glasses. Owner did not have compatible frames but wanted took at my broken frames. Brought them back 15 minutes later. All repaired- no charge.. Even took them out to my wife in the car to make sure they fit right !

Awesome service. It took a few times to tweak my lenses, but I figure its because Im a photographer and have super picky eyes. (Im also a relatively new progressive lens and glasses wearer.) Chuck was absolutely accommodating, offered to have my eyes rechecked and ordered new lenses to replace the ones that I wasnt as happy with no charge. Ive been going here for almost ten years and have always had great service. Free adjustments to my glasses, and my contacts are always ready the next day. I also appreciate that they know who I am and greet me by name when I walk in. And not just on the day of my appointment when theyre expecting me. I can, and have, walked in randomly, and am greeted in a friendly manner. This is nice, considering I usually only see them once a year and they Im sure have many customers throughout the year.

I have been doing business here for quite some time. My wife and I both get our exams, contacts, and glasses here. The service, quality, and speed that they work at is unbelievable. I had my contacts and glasses the next day. They have a very good selection to include Oakleys and Ray Bans. When I was there I even saw a few custom frames that he personally built. Every time I have been in there the staff have adressed all questions and have given personal attention to the customers. It is very apparent that customer service is important to them. I would highly recommend that you go to have a look and meet the owners.

New to Ithaca, I shopped around a bit to find the right spot. This place in Collegetown is smaller than your chain stores, but the service was excellent and thoughtful. For the first time, I walked out feeling better informed about why I was buying what I was buying. This is not a volume business. I felt well taken care of.

I came here following a recommendation by two separate staff members at Gannett (Cornell Health) and can only speak highly of the service here. I had a thorough check of my eyes and they were able to help me with glasses I had gotten overseas that continued to give me headaches and eye pain. They identified several problems with my glasses (aspherical lenses, somewhat wrong prescription, and curvature of the frames) and I subsequently ordered new lenses with Classic Optical, which they fit into the frames I brought. They even adjusted the fit for free after I had the new lenses for a few days, and can order new glasses for you in just a day (can take a little longer if you are on a vision plan and they have to bill your insurance). Super friendly and helpful too. So so grateful.

International from outside of U.S. and my first time of getting any service relating to eye and glasses in U.S. Everyone including Dr. Schwartz was very kind and I couldnt complain about anything. Walking distance from the campus was another advantage.

Chuck is fantastic and has a great store. He was extremely helpful and willing to readjust my glasses multiple times as I got used to a new frame with nosepads, all at no additional charge. He even put lenses in an old vintage frame from the twenties for my girlfriend, when other stores refused to work on them. In a world where it seems that one increasingly has no choice between getting ripped off by the Lenscrafters/Pearlevision mafia (whose parent company owns most of the eyewear brands) or the high-end boutique alternative, its nice to know that stores like Classic Optical still exist. Great prices and merchandise, and old world customer service. Highly recommended.
