I read the reviews on this shop and thought I would give it a shot and see since myself and my daughters are looking for an honest shop to work on our vehicles. I appreciate them for looking at my daughters car the same day, and fixing it the same day. But, what will keep me from using them again is the fact that they charged us roughly $300 an hour for the two hours they worked on the car. They called me at 2 o clock to verify to start working on the car, and called me at 4 o clock that they were finished. The part was less than $100 and they charged us almost $800 for the job, which is unreal. True enough I verified the quote prior to the work, but $300 an hour is in heard of.

They took care of my car quickly and the price was very fair.

I really enjoyed my service here. I recieved front brake/rotor service and a brake flush on Friday. My car is running great. They checked my brakes and rotors and fluid, then they let me know exactly what I needed and give me the option and pricing to see if I wanted it done before doing it. Also, it was one of the most reasonable prices for my vehicle

I love Old Hickory Car Care so much. In addition to doing great work, they are honest and genuinely care about their customers going out of their way to communicate and make a connection by remembering things about them. They even told me they had been praying for me during a rough time I had two years ago. They have always given me options and advice when it came to what I needed for my vehicles and always go out of their way to help make the best choice for my situation. I trust them as they never try to upsell and do more just to make more money. I would recommend them to anyone and always have. This is a WONDERFUL business and Jackson is lucky to have them!

I went here on recommendation after BestOne tire quit doing work on regular vehicles. BestOne recommended them. They seemed professional and courteous, but they thought I was an idiot. They told me I had a leak around my seal for my oil. Also told me all but one light was out for the rear of my vehicle. None of that was true. Will never go to them again.

Last Friday my daughters car had a check engine light come on. I called another repair place, took the car, called them right before they closed and they had not even looked at the vehicle. If I had not called her keys would have been locked up for the weekend. I asked around and I had a friend recommend Old Hickory Car Care. I called first thing Saturday morning, explained the situation and he said bring it in-we will get it taken care of. Not only did they get it taken care of, they updated me along the way and stayed after closing to get it fixed. Everyone I spoke to was super nice- when my daughter picked up her car, she said the same thing those are the nicest people.

I’m from Pennsylvania and was traveling through Jackson Tennessee when I started having car trouble. The clutch I had just had replaced 2 months earlier had burned up. Not from the area and a female, this Situation was more then a little intimidating to have to deal with. Josh was more then accommodating...h did hours of research so that I could make the best educated decision on what steps to take next. I’ve never encountered an auto shop that was more helpful, respectful and friendly! This has got to be the best example of what they mean when they refer to Southern Hospitality. Thank you so very much for making this situation As easy as possible to work through.

This place is horrid. If i could leave zero stars i would. I’ve taken my car and had to repeatedly return for them to fix their own mess ups. Finally i just counted my loss and went elsewhere after trying to just brush it off as a fluke. They missed a major oil leak and had horrible customer service

What I have to say about this place is complicated. The people there are friendly and seem helpful. After two visits there with two different vehicles however, it has become clear to me that this business just is not willing to work on beaters. We went in with a van in which the coolant pressure plug had popped out and hoses were soft; it needs a new radiator, and the engine had some rust and stop leak in the engine block. Rather than consider my request to patch it up with new hoses so I can drive it a few more days or weeks to get a new vehicle, the spokesperson Joshua made it clear they were effectively refusing to do any repairs to the van, since its not worth it to fix it. He even cited concern the plug may pop out again and leak in their garage.The other vehicle: Asking for a simple wheel alignment and oil change, Old Hickory Car Care saw significant rust under the car. They told me they decided they didn’t feel comfortable lifting the vehicle to do repairs, so they were effectively refusing to do any repairs on the car. I was told I needed to try to trade with the dealer to get another car. (Same spokesperson: Joshua.). They did send me photos of the rusted areas, and yes it’s a 16 year-old well used car that came from up north. We knew that going into it. This was the 2nd time we have brought them a vehicle they refused repairs. We took the car to another shop and the machanics explained the difference between structural rust and surface rust, and that the car will likely do fine for a good while. It could cause more expenses down the road, but we never bought this car with the intention of long term use. They put it on their lift with no problems whatsoever, and did the repairs I requested. The main point here is that they explained the issues with the car, any risks, and let ME make the decision rather than outright refusal to do business. That is the way things are supposed to work. They were happy to have my business.I have driven older cars with rust and age, called ‘beaters’, my whole life. Many people do. I have never seen a car repair place that wouldn’t help keep a well-used car going until now. Because of this, I won’t be going back.I am giving them 2 stars rather than 1 because I do believe the folks at Old Hickory Car Care mean well. I SUSPECT something has happened in their past that has made them paranoid about working on beater cars—maybe a lawsuit or something. But a place that exists to work on used cars should work on used cars. Even if it’s just to keep it going a while longer. Looking over past reviews, I see I am not the only person who has run into this issue with this business.

Since I changed career paths from being a professional auto mechanic, I have started going back to them when I dont have time to do it myself. My wife got a flat tire while traveling through Jackson on a Saturday morning. I called Old Hickory Car Care since they were open on a Saturday morning just hoping for some help. They came through in a big way. Sent a tow truck to haul our van to their shop and then sent another vehicle later to pick up the wife and kids. The wife was very impressed and felt very comfortable. Highly recommended as they made a wonderful first impression.

Needed my A/C checked because it wasn’t working, they told me they needed to replace AC compressor, drier, expansion valve. (Apparently nothing was working) A total of $1,580, told them NO, they still had to charged me $112.71 apparently they also add Freon, I don’t know how because to add Freon the ac compressor needs to be working. Went next day to the dealership to see if I had warranty they checked and it was only a RELAY, $15 and my ac was back to normal.

I was looking at buying a used car and they went over it with a fine tooth comb. They are professional and friendly and took time explaining everything to me. Their work if fine however they wont inform you if they cant get to your car that day. You wont find out your car didnt get looked at until 5pm. Get ready to wonder whats going on with your car because they dont keep you in the loop until you call multiple times

We were damn near stranded outside jackson on a 3000 mile road trip. Came here after checking out a couple other dodgy places in a pinch. The people here are extremely nice and professional. They got us on the road in a very timely fashion. At a reasonable price too. Wish I had these mechanics back home! Highly recommend!

Last week I dropped my pontiac grand prix off at this car care center for a broken gear shift linkage. The car would start but would not go into drive. This week I picked my car back up and it had a new ponderous issue. The battery wouldnt hold a charge. After having them look at the issue they quoted me $220 to fix the positive and negative pylons. Upon exploring the battery myself it became obivous that they were misleading me. The battery pylons had been tampered with. Pieces that screw my negative pylon were missing and both ends were not securely screwed in. Some of the corrisive had even been cleaned off. They had no business fooling with the battery to fix a gear shift linkage. Thankfully no baffoonery occurred with the work on my gear shift linkage. I would recommend avoiding this place at all costs. Unless you like getting sucked into a loop of questionable repairs then go to KB auto in Jackson.

They were excellent. We had car trouble while on the road and even though it was the end of the day and they were short staffed, they worked us in and were so very nice, even when it took till a little past closing. A+ service.

These folks are fantastic! On a road trip from Cleveland to Dallas, my car started making a horrible rattle towards the end of our fist day of driving. I came across Old Hickory Car Care Center during a quick search. I called them as soon as they opened, and the gentleman I spoke with was very pleasant and let me know they would be happy to take a look. Fifteen minutes later I was at their door. Everyone I encountered was friendly. They diagnosed my problem rapidly, explained it clearly and gave me options of how to handle it, including an option that wouldnt cost me anything! If you ever need a car repairin Jackson, this is the place!

Front desk lady Rita is completely rude! Have spent tons of money here for my families vehicles! Went to get my brakes replaced- told me it was ready- on the way to go get it they call me saying my brakes are locked up and I won’t be able to get it until sometime the next day. Wanting me to spend more money when it wasn’t messed up when I brought it there! terrible mechanics and terrible customer service.

They checked my truck out on the 22nd of this month. I wanted them to check my brakes but they gave me an oil change. Which I didnt ask for then they told me my brakes was fine which I knew was a lie. I took my truck to another shop and they told me I need a master cylinder. So I called them today to ask how much do they charge I guess the rude lady figured out I was the customer they did the oil change on. She was rude and before she hung up on me she stated let the people down the street fix your car. Really!!! Thats how you conduct business. I will never bring my truck to them again and I will not suggest anyone to go and deal with this type of disrespect.

Had my vehicle towed in to be repaired they call back said they didnt wont to work on it. Brought it back on the wrecker, then the son called his father and talked son promised even made me shake his hand said if I would let them take it back they would work on it on monday. Monday comes around they are bringing it back on wrecker. I thought they fixed broke vehicles. Guess not. Took it to NORTHSIDE AUTO Mark told me they would fix it and 2 days later back on the road. Very unproffesional from everyone I dealt with at OHCC. Would not reccomend these guys to work on anything. Ive used them before and they tell you 1 price when you go get it its another price. My first experience was in the 80s when they were on Hollywood. Told me it would be 200.00 and it ended up 700.00. Some things never change. If I could give a -5 for a score thats what they would get.. need your car fixed with no hassles. Highly reccomend Northside Auto and ask for Mark...Northside Auto treats all there customers the same, respect is earned not given. OHCC has lost all respect from me!
